Ductility based design of reinforced concrete structures implicitly assumes certain damage under the action of a design basis earthquake. The damage undergone by a structure needs to be quantified, so as to assess the post-seismic reparability and functionality of the structure. The paper presents an analytical method of quantification and location of seismic damage, through system identification methods. It may be noted that soft ground storied buildings are the major casualties in any earthquake and hence the example structure is a soft or weak first storied one, whose seismic response and temporal variation of damage are computed using a non-linear dynamic analysis program (IDARC) and compared with a normal structure. Time period based damage identification model is used and suitably calibrated with classic damage models. Regenerated stiffness of the three degrees of freedom model (for the three storied frame) is used to locate the damage, both on-line as well as after the seismic event. Multi resolution analysis using wavelets is also used for localized damage identification for soft storey columns.
This study examined the consumer complaining behavior after purchasing functional health foods and investigated the variables which influence public and private consumer complaining behavior. The subjects of this study were 206 consumers who were dissatisfied after purchasing functional health foods. The survey was conducted during September. 15-October 6, 2003. Percentiles, frequencies, means, $X^2$ and logistic regression were utilized for data analysis with SPSS program. Major findings were as follows: 1 The groups reporting public complaining behavior were over college graduate, high income workers, professional and clerical workers(demographic variables). Purchasing related variable were high purchasing price, strategy of sales person and. ad, purchasing channel through door to door sales, telemarketing, multi level sales, and home shopping, purchasing purpose of weight control and cosmetic. 2. The groups reporting private complaining behavior were high school graduate, low income workers, housewives and the unemployed(demographic variables). Purchasing related variable were low purchasing price, the case of consumer need, purchasing in the shop, purchasing purpose of health restoration.
The purposes of this paper is to study the characteristics of compared to the speakers voice without depression and speakers with depression, and to propose a objective method for the measurement of the therapeutic effects as well as for diagnostics of depression based on the characteristics. The voice samples obtained from 11 female speakers with depression, aged from 20 to 40, diagnosed as having major depressive disorder by an psychiatrist were compared with those from 12 normal controls with matched sex, age, height, weight, education, smoking, and drinking. The voice samples are taken by a portable digital recorder(TASCAM DR-07, Japan) and analysed using the MDVP(Multi-Dimentional Voice Program) software module from CSL(Computerized Speech Lab, kay elemetrics, co, model 4100). The result of the investigation are as following. First, the average speaking fundamental frequency and loudness range of the speakers with depression group was statistically significantly lower than that of the control group. The pitch range of the control group was rather higher than that of the speakers with depression group, but without statistical significance. Overall speech rates have no statistical difference between two groups. Second, the average speaking fundamental frequency and loudness range have statistically significant negative correlation with Beck Depression Inventory, i. e. more severe depression exhibits lower average speaking fundamental frequency and loudness range. Other vocal parameters such as pitch range and overall speech rate have no statistically meaningful correlations with Beck Depression Inventory.

Customers’ loyalty to an online store may be worth up to ten times as much as its average customer. To develop a loyal customer base, most online stores try their best to continually satisfy their customers and to generate long-run relationships with them. This study investigates the effects of product attributes on customer satisfaction, trust, and loyalty in the context of online shopping for apparels. A self-administered questionnaire with multi-item scale was developed based on literatures. A total of 356 usable questionnaires were obtained from respondents and were analyzed using by LISREL 8.54 Program. The results showed that attributes of apparel products (e.g., products variety, price, and information) have indirectly influenced customer loyalty, which are moderated by customers’ satisfaction and trust. Additionally, customer satisfaction plays an important role to develop customer loyalty of online apparel stores. The findings suggest that, to satisfy their customers, online apparel stores should focus on product variety, and reasonable/economic prices of their apparel products, while they should provide the information about contents/care of apparels in building trusting relationships with their customers. In light of the major findings, this study sets forth strategic implications for customer loyalty in online settings of apparel store.

Many car manufacturers have frequently adopted an aggressive inflator and a lower threshold speed for airbag deployment in order to meet an injury requirement for unbolted occupant at high speed crash test. Consequently, today's occupant safety restraint system has a weakness due to an airbag induced injury at low speed crash event. This paper proposes a new crash algorithm to improve the weakness by suppressing airbag deployment at low speed crash event in case of belted condition. The proposed algorithm consists of two major blocks-crash severity algorithm and deployment logic block. The first block decides crash severity with two levels by means of velocity and crash energy calculation from acceleration signal. The second block implemented by simple AND/OR logic combines the crash severity level and seat belt status information to generate firing commands for airbag and belt pretensioner. Furthermore, it can be extended to adopt additional sensor information from passenger presence detection sensor and safing sensor. A simulation using real crash data for a 1,800cc passenger vehicle has been conducted to verify the performance of proposed algorithm.
The HANARO, a multi-purpose research reactor of 30 MWth open-tank-in-pool type, has been under normal operation since its initial criticality in February, 1995. Many experiments should be safely performed to activate the utilization of the HANARO. HANARO flow simulation facility is being developed for the endurance test of reactivity control units for extended life time and the verification of structural integrity of those experimental equipments prior to loading in the HANARO. This facility is composed of three major parts; a half-core structure assembly, a flow circulation system and a support system. The flow circulation system is composed of a circulation pump, a core flow piping, a core bypass flow piping and instruments. The system is to be filled with de-mineralized water and the flow should be met the design requirements to simulate a similar flow characteristics in the core channel of the half-core structure assembly to the HANARO. This paper, therefore, presents an analytical analysis to study the flow behavior of the system. Computational flow analysis has been performed for the verification of system pressure variation through the three-dimensional analysis program with the standard $k-{\epsilon}$ turbulence model and for the verification of the structural piping integrity through the finite element method. According to the analysis results, it could be said that the design requirements and the structural piping integrity of the flow circulation system are satisfied.
In recent years, integration of new distributed generation (DG) technology in distribution networks has become one of the major management concerns for professional engineers. This paper presents a dynamic methodology of optimal allocation and sizing of DG units for a given practical distribution network, so that the cost of active power can be minimized. The approach proposed is based on a combined Genetic/Fuzzy Rules. The genetic algorithm generates and optimizes combinations of distributed power generation for integration into the network in order to minimize power losses, and in second step simple fuzzy rules designs based upon practical expertise rules to control the reactive power of a multi dynamic shunt FACTS Compensator (SVC, STATCOM) in order to improve the system loadability. This proposed approach is implemented with the Matlab program and is applied to small case studies, IEEE 25-Bus and IEEE 30-Bus. The results obtained confirm the effectiveness in sizing and integration of an assigned number of DG units.
A combined safety approach, which uses a best-estimate computer code and adopts conservative assumptions for safety systems availability, is developed and applied to the safety margin evaluation for the Loss of Condenser Vacuum (LOCV) of the 1000 MWe Korean Nuclear Power Plant. The Multi-dimensional Analysis of Reactor Safety-KINS standard (MARS-KS) code is selected as a best-estimate code and the PAPIRUS program is used to obtain different initial operational conditions through random sampling of control variables. During an LOCV event, fuel integrity is not threatened by the increase in Departure from Nuclear Boiling Ratio (DNBR). However, the high pressure in the primary coolant system and the secondary system might affect the system integrity. Thus, the peak pressure becomes a major safety concern. Transient analyses are performed for 124 cases of different initial conditions and the most conservative case, which results in the highest system pressure is selected. It is found the suggested methodology gives similar peak pressures when compared to those predicted from existing methodologies. The proposed approach is expected to minimize the time and efforts required to identify the conservative plant conditions in the existing conservative safety methodologies.

Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a famous method amongst Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), set up by Saaty in 1980. AHP can be determined as a methodology of hierarchical analysis following reasonable decision making with make simpler a difficult crisis. Decision making in systems of Safety management concerned multipart challenges. AHP is process for get better the composite decisions understanding with analyzes of the problem in a structure of hierarchy. The integration all of applicable decision criteria, their pair wise judgment permits the decision maker to establish the trade-offs amongst objectives. In recent years, Malaysian's economy and infrastructure development have significantly and rapidly risen. The construction industry continues to play a major role in this development as many construction activities have been carried out to meet the high demands of the expansive market. However, the construction industry has faced a wide range of challenges, one of which is the frequent occurrences of accidents at the workplace. An effective safety program can substantially reduce accidents because it can help management to build up safer means of operations and create safe working environments for the workers. Furthermore, by having an effective safety programs, good safety culture can be embedded in organization because it can encourage mutual cooperation between management and workers in the operations of the programs and decisions that affect their safety and health. The focus of this research is development methodology of Analytics Hierarchy Process (AHP) in construction safety factors and investigates the levels of some effective elements in SMS in Malaysian construction industries.
