  • The virtual surgical trial of TAH is very important in some points as follows. The chests of patients who is under heart-disease are various types of undefine form. It is hard to say that there exist the standard shape of TAH and the position to surgern. So, the virtual surgery system is very important in realizing TAH surgery of human. We have implemented virtual surgery system of TAH that supporting multi volume fitting trial. We have acquired CT images of patients with DICOM format. Each organ of patients was segmented in 2-dimensional CT images. 3-dimensional objects were made with marching cube algorithm and save as file in VRML format. Virtual fitting trial was performed on Cosmo-World; a VRML editor. The collision points of TAH with other organs were well observed. And the best position and angles were determined and saved or each case. We believed that this virtual surgery will be helpful in TAH surgery and TAH customizing.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the consumption and perception on the effect of cooked rice mixed with multi-grain (CR-MG). Reason for like and dislike, intake frequency and variables related with the satisfaction of CR-MG were also investigated. The data for the analysis was collected from 315 adults who were residing at Seoul${\cdot}$Kyeonggi and Kangwon area and analyzed by the SPSS 11.0 program. The result showed that 84.8% of the respondents consumed CR-MG, showing significant difference by gender and occupation (p<0.05). It also revealed that they consumed it knowing their effect, showing significant difference by all general characteristics except for resident area and BMI, respectively. Kind of multi-grain (MG) mixed with cooked rice was high in the order of SoRiTae (80.1%) > brown rice (73.4%) > black rice (72.7%) > waxy rice (61.0%), respectively. As for the mixing type of MG, 61.4% of the respondents preferred non-mixed product rather than pre-mixed product. 2 or 3 kinds were preferred numbers of MG mixed with rice, showing significant difference by age (p<0.001) and marital status(p<0.05), respectively. 59.9% of the respondents answered 'high nutritive value more than polished rice' as the major reason for like, whereas 31.3% answered 'greatly rough more than polished rice' as that for dislike, respectively. By the use of multiple regression analysis, it revealed that health was the most significant variable which affect the satisfaction of CR-MG. From these results, it was suggested that in view of the high consumption and intention to continue the intake of CR-MG, following studies should be conducted to improve the preference of CR-MG.

  • Surfactants which have ability to decrease surface tension through surface activation between the interfaces are used as essential major raw materials for detergents and cosmetics. Typical synthetic detergents such as EO (ethylene oxide), LAB (linear alkylbenzene) are made from chemical surfactant derived from petrochemicals, therefore, they are responsible for major environment contaminations and ecosystem destruction, especially of rivers and also cause atopic dermatitis through strong skin stimulus of these small molecular's powerful permeability and lead to cancers if they get into organs through capillary. Now worldwide interest is increasing to develop new natural surfactants and biosurfactants as ecological, biodegradabl, harmless and multi-functional new amphiphillic materials which replace these synthetic surfactants.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the job rotation implementation at medium- or small-industries and to identify the viewpoint on job rotation as preventive activity of work-related musculoskeletal disorders(WMSDs). Background: Job rotation has been implemented in many industrial areas in order to prevent the WMSDs as one part of ergonomic program. Generally, the cases of implementation of ergonomic program or successful cases of job rotation were reported on the side of major or large company. Therefore, this study tried to inspect the current state of job rotation implementation at medium- or small-industries. Method: Survey was carried out for randomly contacted forty seven mangers responsible for safety. Survey contained the questionnaires on the general state of company, shift-work and job rotation. Results: The ratio of work-shift in medium- and small-industry was 34.0% and the ratio of job rotation was 19.1%. For manufacturing industry, the ratio was 37.9% and 17.2%, respectively. Conclusion: The implementation ratio of job rotation was relatively low considering the results of previous studies. Many managers appealed the quality decreasing of goods and the injuries of workers due to job rotation, though agreed to train the multi-functional worker and to prevent the WMSDs. Application: The results can be used for the fundamental data how the job rotation will be properly implemented in medium- and small-industry as an administrative control for MSDs.

  • As a preliminary approach to developing a bedside teaching program, this study analyzed the instructional models that have been suggested for bedside teaching. The objects of analysis were four models: the 'Cox model,' which is composed of an experience cycle and an explanation cycle; the 'best teaching practice model' by Janicik and Fletcher; the 'twelve tips to improve bedside teaching' by Ramani; and the SNNAPS model for outpatient education by Wolpaw, Wolpaw, and Papp. This study was conducted in three steps. First, we identified the major components of each model and analyzed their characteristics and limitations. Second, we compared each model in terms of four aspects: the learner, learning interaction, learning context, and organization management. Third, on the basis of prior analysis, the possibilities and potential problems of the models were explored. Based on this review of the existing instructional design models, we proposed an additional four key elements for designing a bedside teaching program: multi-layered learners, various learning environments and contexts, time management by using media, and self-directed design.

  • Background: Alcohol and tobacco use are two major behavioral risk factors implicated in increased morbidity and mortality. Since both substances are widely used in Korea, a concerted effort is currently underway to reduce the use of tobacco and alcohol in Korea. Objectives: Efforts directed toward preparing health promotion planners and health educators from local health departments to organize and implement community-wide interventions to reduce the proportion of people smoking and reduce the average level of alcohol consumption in the community. Methods: Comprehensive multi-media health promotion materials were developed based on health behavior theories and strategies. The materials were developed to introduce a user-oriented developmental approach by making messages more persuasive and organizing content in a user-friendly manner. Health educators from all local health departments in the country were trained in the use of the materials, to enable them to develop community interventions to reduce smoking and drinking. Implications for Practitioners: The process followed in developing the health intervention materials is described in detail to assist practitioners who need to develop effective programs to reduce the use of tobacco and alcohol. Sections of the report explain health intervention theories, specific program activities to include in an intervention, development, organization, evaluation, choosing a target audience, choosing goals of an intervention, and methods of making program content vivid and persuasive.
