Millimeter-wave tracking radars should be operated in various environmental restrictions, thus they demand more computing power and smaller size compared to conventional tracking radars. This paper presents the design and implementation of the compact power supply for millimeter-wave tracking radar applications. To meet requirements of low voltage/high current and voltage accuracy for FPGA/DSP digital circuits, Point of Load (POL) converters are used in order to enhance power density and system efficiency. LDO (Low Dropout) is applied for the output voltage under the light load condition, then the single-input-multi-output power supply with max power of 375 W and 8 outputs is developed. The proposed power supply achieves output voltage accuracy of ±2 % and noise level of <50 mVpp % under full load conditions.
In this paper, a low complexity fast Fourier transform(FFT) processor is proposed for multiple input multiple output(MIMO) systems. The IEEE 802.11ac standard has been adopted along with the demand for a system capable of high channel capacity and Gbps transmission in order to utilize various multimedia services using a wireless LAN. The proposed scalable FFT processor can support the variable length of 64, 128, 256, and 512 for 8x8 antenna configuration as specified in IEEE 802.11ac standard with MIMO-OFDM scheme. By reducing the required number of non-trivial multipliers with mixed-radix(MR) and multipath delay commutator(MDC) architecture, the complexity of the proposed FFT processor was dramatically decreased. Implementation results show that the proposed FFT processor can reduced the logic gate count by 50%, compared with the radix-2 SDF FFT processor. Also, compared with the 8-channel MR-2/2/2/4/2/4/2 MDC processor and 8-channel MR-2/2/2/8/8 MDC processor, it is shown that the gate count is reduced by 18% and 17% respectively.

This study on condominium complex will adopt the quantitative assessment of the influence on the environment throughout the entire life cycle of buildings. This paper applies input-out analysis in order to analyse embodied energy regarding input of materials at material production phase. Also, it calculates environment load at use and demolition and destruction Phases of buildings as analysing energy consumption. The study categorises environment load as six impact categories and undertakes environmental impact evaluation. The consequence shows that the environment load of multi-unit dwelling takes up 88.2% out of the entire environment load of condominium complex. Also, as a result of analyzing the environmental impact of the life cycle of condominium buildings, it was found that such environmental impact comprised of about 11.96% of all industries in Korea that had an environmental impact.

This paper presents a study on the off-line handwritten Hangul (Korean) character recognition using the partially connected neural network (PCNN), which is based on partial connections between the input receptive fields and the hidden nodes. The hidden nodes of three PCNNs have ten receptive fields and different input feature sets. And we introduce modular partially connected neural network (MPCNN), The MPCNN combines three PCNNs with a merging network. The learning scheme of the proposed networks is composed of two steps: PCNN learning step and the merging step of combining three PCNN s. In the merging step, another merging PCNN network is introduced and trained by regarding the hidden output of each PCNN as a new input feature vector. The performance of the proposed classifier is verified on the recognition of 18 off-line handwritten Hangul characters widely used in business cards in Korea.
This paper presents a sliding mode observer-based fault detection algorithm for steering inputs of an all-terrain crane. All-terrain cranes with multi-axles have several steering modes for various working purposes. Since steering angles at the other axles except the first wheel are controlled by using the information of steering angle at the first wheel, a reliable signal of the first axle's steering angle should be secured for the driving safety of cranes. For the fault detection of steering input signal, a simplified crane model-based sliding mode observer has been used. Using a sliding mode observer with an equivalent output injection signal that represents an actual fault signal, a fault signal in steering input was reconstructed. The road steering mode of the crane's steering system was used to conduct performance evaluations of a proposed algorithm, and an arbitrary fault signal was applied to the steering angle at the first wheel. Since the road steering mode has different steering strategies according to different speed intervals, performance evaluations were conducted based on the curved path scenario with various speed conditions. The design of algorithms and performance evaluations were conducted on Matlab/Simulink environment, and evaluation results reveal that the proposed algorithm is capable of detecting and reconstructing a fault signal reasonably well.

A recycling reactor system operated under sequential anoxic and oxic conditions for the treatment of swine wastewater has been developed, in which piggery slurry is fermentatively and aerobically treated and then part of the effluent is recycled to the pigsty. This system significantly removes offensive smells (at both the pigsty and the treatment plant), BOD and others, and may be cost effective for small-scale farms. The most dominant heterotrophic were, in order, Alcaligenes faecalis, Brevundimonas diminuta and Streptococcus sp., while lactic acid bacteria were dominantly observed in the anoxic tank. We propose a novel monitoring system for a recycling piggery slurry treatment system through the use of neural networks. In this study, we tried to model the treatment process for each tank in the system (influent, fermentation, aeration, first sedimentation and fourth sedimentation tanks) based upon the population densities of the heterotrophic and lactic acid bacteria. Principal component analysis(PCA) was first applied to identify a relationship between input and output. The input would be microbial densities and the treatment parameters, such as population densities of heterotrophic and lactic acid bacteria, suspended solids(SS), COD, NH$_4$(sup)+-N, ortho-phosphorus (o-P), and total-phosphorus (T-P). then multi-layer neural networks were employed to model the treatment process for each tank. PCA filtration of the input data as microbial densities was found to facilitate the modeling procedure for the system monitoring even with a relatively lower number of imput. Neural network independently trained for each treatment tank and their subsequent combined data analysis allowed a successful prediction of the treatment system for at least two days.

In this paper, contribution analysis method using a partial coherence function is dealt with in the case of underwater radiation noise. When performing the contribution analysis using a partial coherence function, it is important to select the order of system input. But in the case of frequency correlated systems, it is very difficult to properly select the order of system input. In order to solve this problem, the contribution analysis is performed by subdividing the area of contribution using multiple coherence function. And the new contribution analysis method is presented by using the relationship between the contribution characteristic matrix and multiple coherence function. In order to validate the new method, calculation is performed about multi-input / single-output model which is composed of sine waves. The result of calculation shows that it is possible to derive the exact contribution values.

In this paper, we propose new speech feature parameter using the Matrix Factorization for appearance part-based features of speech spectrum. The proposed parameter represents effective dimensional reduced data from multi-dimensional feature data through matrix factorization procedure under all of the matrix elements are the non-negative constraint. Reduced feature data presents p art-based features of input data. We verify about usefulness of NMF(Non-Negative Matrix Factorization) algorithm for speech feature extraction applying feature parameter that is got using NMF in Mel-scaled filter bank output. According to recognition experiment results, we confirm that proposed feature parameter is superior to MFCC(Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient) in recognition performance that is used generally.
