An Ameliorated Design Method of ML-AHB BusMatrix

  • The multi-layer advanced high-performance bus (ML-AHB) BusMatrix proposed by ARM is an excellent architecture for applying embedded systems with low power. However, there is one clock cycle delay for each master in the ML-AHB BusMatrix of the advanced microcontroller bus architecture (AMBA) design kit (ADK) whenever a master starts new transactions or changes the slave layers. In this letter, we propose an improved design method to remove the one clock cycle delay in the ML-AHB BusMatrix of an ADK. We also remarkably reduce the total area and power consumption of the ML-AHB BusMatrix of an ADK with the elimination of the heavy input stages.

An efficient modeling technique for floor vibration in multi-story buildings

  • Analysis of a framed structure for vertical vibration requires a lot of computational efforts because large number of degrees of freedom are generally involved in the dynamic responses. This paper presents an efficient modeling technique for vertical vibration utilizing substructuring technique and super elements. To simplify the modeling procedure each floor in a structure is modeled as a substructure. Only the vertical translational degrees of freedom are selected as master degrees of freedom in the inside of each substructure. At the substructure-column interface, horizontal and rotational degrees of freedom are also included considering the compatibility condition of slabs and columns. For further simplification, the repeated parts in a substructure are modeled as super elements, which reduces computation time required for the construction of system matrices in a substructure. Finally, the Guyan reduction technique is applied to enhance the efficiency of dynamic analysis. In numerical examples, the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method are demonstrated by comparing the response time histories and the analysis time.

  • A Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is a complex dynamic system-of-systems with highly nonlinear behaviors. In order to control the plant operation under both normal and abnormal conditions, the different systems in NPPs (e.g., the reactor core components, primary and secondary coolant systems) are usually monitored continuously, resulting in very large amounts of data. This situation makes it possible to integrate relevant qualitative and quantitative knowledge with artificial intelligence techniques to provide faster and more accurate behavior predictions, leading to more rapid decisions, based on actual NPP operation data. Data-driven models (DDM) rely on artificial intelligence to learn autonomously based on patterns in data, and they represent alternatives to physics-based models that typically require significant computational resources and might not fully represent the actual operation conditions of an NPP. In this study, a feed-forward backpropagation artificial neural network (ANN) model was trained to simulate the interaction between the reactor core and the primary and secondary coolant systems in a pressurized water reactor. The transients used for model training included perturbations in reactivity, steam valve coefficient, reactor core inlet temperature, and steam generator inlet temperature. Uncertainties of the plant physical parameters and operating conditions were also incorporated in these transients. Eight training functions were adopted during the training stage to develop the most efficient network. The developed ANN model predictions were subsequently tested successfully considering different new transients. Overall, through prompt prediction of NPP behavior under different transients, the study aims at demonstrating the potential of artificial intelligence to empower rapid emergency response planning and risk mitigation strategies.

제품정보관리를 위한 통합적 멀티BOM시스템 (An Integrated Multi-BOM System for Product Data Management)

  • Bill of material (BOM), which structurally represents the relation among parts constructing a product, is usually created when enterprises start to develop a new product. And it is shown as various types of BOM according to business needs and usage such as eBOM (engineering BOM), gBOM (green BOM), mBOM (manufacturing BOM), pBOM (process BOM), etc. eBOM, generally called BOM and created in the design stage of the new product, includes the drawing information of parts in the view of product function. eBOM is extended to gBOM adding the material information of parts to cope with international regulations for environment. eBOM is transformed to mBOM, which includes manufacturing sequence of parts and adds some parts required to fabricate parts and to assemble the product. mBOM is also extended to pBOM adding the process information of each part and additional assembly processes. This study introduces the concept of multi-BOM covering eBOM, gBOM, mBOM and pBOM, and proposes an advanced way to manage product data using multi-BOM system. The multi-BOM system proposed is to manage their relations using transformation function of BOM and master information of all BOMs.

중국의 공학교육 개혁 동향 (The Revolution Trend in Engineering Education in China)

  • 산업계 수요에 따른 중국 공학교육의 주요 개혁 동향들을 고찰하였다. 중국 공학교육 개혁의 추진 배경은 소련식의 전문교육과 문화대혁명의 영향으로 산업계의 고급 기술자가 부족하고 연령상의 단절이 있으며 졸업생들의 현장 적응력이 부족했기 때문이었다. 이에 따라 80년대부터 다양한 경로를 통해 산업계 수요에 맞는 신규 인력의 공급을 확대하고 기존의 산업계 기술자를 재교육하기 시작하였다. 이공계 대학의 입학 정원이 크게 증가하였고 대학원 입시에서 실무 경험자를 우대하는 정책을 실시하였다. 국가 교육위원회 주도로 산업계 수요에 맞는 고급 기술자의 양성 경로를 탐색하고, 이를 토대로 산학 협동의 공정석사 양성 방안을 실험하였다. 공과대학의 주요 개혁 동향으로는 우수학생의 양성, 복수 학위 제도, 현장 실습 강화, 학. 석사 통합 운영, 논문 석. 박사 제도, 산학 협동 인력 양성, 실험 대학, 성인 대학, 지방분교의 운영 등이 있다. 21세기를 앞두고 이러한 개혁 동향이 더욱 가속될 것이다.

효율적인 데이터 전송과 하드웨어 최적화를 위한 AMBA AXI4 BUS Interface 구현 (Implementation of the AMBA AXI4 Bus interface for effective data transaction and optimized hardware design)

  • 최근 디지털 기기의 다기능화, 휴대화 및 서비스 정보의 대용량화 등으로 인하여 고집적, 저전력, 고성능 SoC(System on Chip) 설계에 대한 요구가 점차 증가하고 있다. 시스템이 빠르게 발전함에 따라 요구되는 하드웨어 성능이 다양해지고 있으며 빠른 설계 확인을 위하여 FPGA(Field Programmabel Gate Array)를 채택하는 시스템이 증가되고 있는 추세이며 FPGA를 채택한 시스템에서는 FPGA와 제어하는 CPU인 ARM코어를 사용한 SoC 시스템이 늘어났다. 이러한 시스템에서 사용되는 AXI(Advanced eXtensible Interface) Bus는 여러 방법으로 이용되지만, 기존의 연구에서는 AXI Slave 구조로 설계가 되어 있다. Slave 구조에서는 CPU가 계속 데이터 전송에 관여하게 되어 자원을 다른 곳에 사용하지 못하는 문제와 AXI Bus가 사용되지 않는 시간이 길어서 전송효율이 떨어지는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 문제를 해결하고자 AXI Master구조를 제안하고, Slave구조와 Master구조의 소모클럭과 합성결과를 비교한 결과, Master구조가 Slave구조에 비해 소모클럭은 51.99% 감소한 것을 확인하였으며, Slice는 31% 정도 감소하였다. 또한, 최대 동작주파수는 107.84MHz로써 약 140% 증가 되는 것을 확인하였다.

유역특성인자를 이용한 설계홍수량 추정에 관한 연구 (Study of Design Flood Estimation by Watershed Characteristics)

  • Through this research of the analysis on the frequency flood discharges regarding basin property factors, a linear regression system was introduced, and as a result, the item with the highest correlation with the frequency flood discharges from Nakdong river basin is the basin area, and the second highest is the average width of basin and the river length. The following results were obtained after looking at the multi correlation between the flood discharge and the collected basin property factors using the data from the established river maintenance master plan of the one hundred twenty-five rivers in the Nakdong river basin. The result of analysis on multivariate correlation between the flood discharges and the most basic data in determining the flood discharges as basin area, river length, basin slope, river slope, average width of basin, shape factor and probability precipitation showed more than 0.9 of correlation in terms of the multi correlation coefficient and more than 0.85 for the determination coefficient. The model which induced a regression system through multi correlation analysis using basin property factors is concluded to be a good reference in estimating the design flood discharge of unmeasured basin.

풍력단지가 연계된 VSC-HVDC 멀티 터미널 시스템 모델링 (VSC-HVDC Multi-terminal system modeling connected to Wind Farm)

  • 전력 시스템의 변화 및 전력 전자 소자의 발전으로 인하여 HVDC 시스템에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 또한 기존의 Point-to-Point 형태의 HVDC 시스템에서 진보하여, 멀티 터미널 형태 그리고 풍력단지와 연계된 다양한 Topology가 계획 중이거나 실제도 구동되고 있다. 따라서 이러한 추세에 맞추어 풍력단지와 연계된 멀티터미널 시스템을 구현하였다. 본 시스템은 세 곳의 AC 계통 시스템과 한 곳의 풍력단지로 이루어져 있으며, 이는 전압형 컨버터를 통하여 DC 계통을 구성하였다. 풍력발전의 변동 및 Master 컨버터의 탈락 시험 또한 진행하였다.

  • The multiple cooperating robot system plays an important role in the research of modern manufacturing system as the emphasis of production automation is more on the side of flexibility than before. While the kinematic and dynamic analysis of a single robot is performed as an open-loop chain, the dynamic formulation of robot in a multiple cooperating robot system differs from that of a single robot when the multiple cooperating robots form a closed kinematic chain holding an object simultaneously. The object may be any type from a rigid body to a multi-joint linkage. The mobility of the system depends on the kinematic configuration of the closed kinematic chain formed by robots and object, which also decides the number of independent input parameters. Since the mobility is not the same as the number of robot joints, proper constraint condition is sought. The constraints may be such that : the number of active robot joints is kept the same as mobility, all robot joints are active and have interrelations between each joint forces/torques, two robots have master-slave relation, or so on. The dynamic formulation of system is obtained. The formulation is based on recursive dual-number screw-calculus Newton-Eulerian approach which has been used for single robot analysis. This new scheme is recursive and compact symbolically and may facilitate the consideration of the object in real time.

  • This research presents a three-dimensional modeling technique for a flexible sheet. A relative coordinate formulation is used to represent the kinematics of the sheet. The three-dimensional flexible sheet is modeled by multi-rigid bodies interconnected by out-of-plane joints and plate force elements. A parent node is designated as a master body and is connected to the ground by a floating joint to cover the rigid motion of the flexible sheet in space. Since the in-plane deformation of a sheet such as a paper and a film is relatively small, compared to out-of-plane deformation, only the out-of-plane deformation is accounted for in this research. The recursive formulation has been adopted to solve the equations of motion efficiently. An example is presented to show the validity of the proposed method.
