In recent years, many mobile wireless communication devices and applications have been deployed on the planet. The mobile multi-hop wireless network models appeared to provide means to access to networks where few infrastructure exists. However, the mobile multi-hop wireless networks have weaker points in attacks and intrusions than the wired and one-hop wireless networks. In this paper, the secure routing issues in most mobile multi-hop wireless network models are surveyed in depth. The state-of-the-art technologies and research activities are explained. Finally, the issues and technologies for the secure routing specific to a maritime network model are sufficiently discussed as conclusions.

Multi-path routing has been studied widely in wired networks. Multi-path routing is known to increase end-to-end throughput and provide load balancing in wired networks. However, its advantage is not obvious in wireless multi-hop network because the traffic along the multiple paths may interfere with adjacent paths. In the paper, we introduce a new multi-path routing scheme, Cluster-Based Multi-Path Routing for multi-hop wireless networks. The main idea of the proposed routing scheme is to extend the hop-by-hop multi-path to a cluster-by-cluster multi-path. In cluster network, each cluster can work independently from other clusters and hence reduce interference. The purpose of the proposed scheme is to find a less interfering path for wireless multi-hop networks. We also showed the throughput improvement of the proposed scheme through simulations.

The Wireless Mesh Network uses a wireless communication technology with transmission rates similar to that of a cable, which is used as a backbone network. The topology structure is in a Mesh form which resembles an Ad-hoc network, however a metric is needed in order to set the channel and channel methods since the operation intentions and interior motions are different. This thesis proposes a metric(ETR : Expected Transmission Rate) that sets the channel with physical link performance and multi hop transmission capabilities. This metric will also be based on multi channel creation methods and Hop-by-hop routing techniques for an effective multi hop transmission with no loops.
A ubiquitous network allows all users to access and exchange information of any kind freely at any time, from anywhere, and from any appliance through the use of broadband and mobile access. Bluetooth commincation can provide the missing wireless extension to the heterogeneous network, allowing a more ubiquitous access. In this point of view, the BT specifications define ways for which each BT device can set up multiple connections with neighboring devices to communicate in a multi-hop fashion. this paper provides insights on the Bluetooth technology and on some limitations of the scatternet formations. so that, we describe a new multi-hop routing protocol for the establishment of scatternets. this protocol defines rules for forming a multi-hop topology in two phases. the first phase, topology discovery, concerns the discovery of the node's depth from a root node initiating inquiry process. the second phase forms scatternet topology based on the result of topology discovery.
This paper proposes a medium-access control(MAC) protocol designed for wireless multi-hop sensor networks which is used for connecting physical world and cyber computing space. Wireless multi-hop sensor networks use battery-operated computing and sensing device. We expect sensor networks to be deployed in an ad hoc fashion, with nodes remaining inactive for long time, but becoming suddenly active when specific event is detected. These characteristics of multi-hop sensor networks and applications motivate a MAC that is different from traditional wireless MACs about power conservation scheme, such as IEEE 802.11. Proposed MAC uses a few techniques to reduce energy consumption. Result show that proposed MAC obtains more energy sayings.

In this paper, we propose a novel protocol called a Multi-hop Diversity Transmission protocol in which the retransmission is realized by a relay that is Nearest to a current Source (MDTNS). We derive the mathematical expressions of the packet error rate (PER) and the average number of transmissions over Nakagami-m fading channels, and verify them by Monte Carlo simulations. The simulation results show that the MDTNS protocol improves the performance of the network in terms of PER when compared to the Multi-hop Diversity Transmission protocol in which the retransmission is done by a relay that is Nearest to Destination (MDTND) and to the conventional multi-hop transmission (CMT) protocol.
In this paper, we propose the enhanced CSMA/CA MAC protocol fir mobile multi-hop wireless Ad-hoc networks. In the conventional wireless Ad-hoc network such as WLAN using CSMA/CA MAC protocol, communications between terminals that fn connected within multi-hop node may degrade the transmission efficiencies as increasing the multi-hop nodes because of RTS-CTS-DATA-ACK message exchange between terminals. In this raper, we apply the ACK/RTS control message into multi-hop transmission between terminals for wireless ad-hoc networks and improve the data traffic transmission efficiencies compared with conventional CSMA/CA MAC protocol used in WLAN.

In this paper, we propose a dynamic slot allocation scheme to improve the slot utilization rate in tactical multi-hop networks in which the channel condition varies due to node movements. The proposed scheme takes advantage of the fact that nodes that are more than three hops apart can use the same slot simultaneously. The frame is divided into two parts: the control period and the data period. To know the available slot information within two-hop distance, the node exchanges a slot allocation information with one-hop neighbors during the control period. The node can get the information on idle slots that are not used within two-hop distance but assigned already to other nodes that are more than three-hop away. The identified idle slot can be used by the node, which increases the slot utilization rate. The performance analysis results of the proposed scheme show that it increases the slot utilization rate sufficiently despite the overhead of the control period in the multi-hop networks of the future soldier system.

Recently indoor positioning technologies have been studied using the acoustic signal from a smart phone. Also multi-hop indoor positioning system in which the equipments measure their relative position successively has been proposed. As the total positioning error is prone to increase due to the successively accumulated positioning error for the multi-hop system, the error analysis is required for the system design. In this paper, the absolute positioning error for the multi-hop indoor positioning equipments successively installed is analyzed, and it is verified by computer simulation. According to the results, the accumulated positioning error is linearly increased as the number of the multi-hop increases.
In this paper, we study multi-hop cooperative transmission protocols using fountain codes. The proposed protocols can reduce the end-to-end delay and number of stages compared to those in conventional multi-hop transmission. VariousMonte-Carlo simulations are presented to evaluate and compare performance of the protocols over Rayeigh fading channels.
