This study look into the place-name change by social influence around Jin-An region. The place-names were made through joining natural environment with social condition. The place-names were born as a river name firstly, and it was selected as the artificial administration district name in this region(Ju-Chon, Jeong-Chon, An-Chon). Generally the place-name is reflected by a terrain feature of narrow area but this region's place name was made by wide river drainage area as a system. It is different point to others place-name and the social factor played more important role than natural environment in this process. The displacement process of mountain name which is from Ju-Jul to Un-Jang was through social situation change without the natural conditions change. It was used to the Ju-Jul firstly and coexistent the Ju-Jul with Un-Jang and only use the Un-Jang recently. Formal change period was 1910s in the map, Mt. Un-Jang(雲長山) had the advantage at the pronunciation and written than Mt. Ju-Jul. Mt. Gu-Bong(九峰山) was played important role for new mountain name and Song Ik-Pil(宋翼弼) was appeared for rationalization of Mt. Un-Jang.

Korean Ogol Chicken is a natural treasure in Korea and expected to be a valuable genetics resource in the world. As an initial step to investigate the genetic structures of this breed, phylogenetic analysis has been performed using mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequence variations. Total 30 Korean Ogol Chickens were investigated in this study and they were grouped into 4 haplotypes, consisting 11 birds in the largest haplotype. Based on the phylogenetic analysis, chicken breeds were divided into three major groups and Korean Ogol Chicken were appeared all of these three groups indicating their large genetic mtDNA diversity. These results will be used for making breeding and conservation strategies for this breed.
In order to determine ecological niches of forests in Mt. UnJang, the studies were analyzed on the methods of TWINSPAN and DCCA ordination. The results are summarized as follows : Six communities determined by TWINSPAN : Fraxinus mandshurica, Cornus controversa, Acer mono, Carpinus tschonoskii, Carpinus tschonoskii - Quercus variabilis, and Quercus mongolica community. In the relations of major community and environmental factors, Fraxinus mandshurica, Cornus controversa, and Acer mono community were distributed valley or evenness in the rich of organic matter. Elevation was high comparatively. Carpinus tschonoskii and Carpinus tschonoskii - Quercus variabilis community were distributed in the low elevation, in rich of MgO and $CaCO_3$. Quercus mongolica community were distributed in the high elevation, in low of MgO, $CaCO_3$. The factors in influencing community distribution were elevation. The importance value in all the quadrats sampled, Quercus mongolica recorded the highest and the next values then came those Cornus controversa, Acer mono, Fraxinus mandshurica, Quercus variabilis, Carpinus tschonoskii, Acer pseudosieboldianum Lindera erythrocarpa, Styrax obassia and Lindera obtusiloba in the orders.

In this study, a numerical model of debris flow considering driftwood and entrainment erosion is developed. Subsequently, numerical simulations based on the observation data of the 2011 Mt. Umyeon are performed. To develop the debris flow model, the Nays2DFlood model, which is a flooding model based on the shallow water equation, is coupled with the transport diffusion of mixed sediment concentration, debris flow bottom shear stress, and entrainment erosion modules. The simulation closely reproduced the depth, flow velocity, and debris flow volume of Mt. Umyeon. In addition, the reproducibility of the simulation result with driftwood is more accurate than that without driftwood. The results of this study can facilitate in establishing measures to reduce debris disasters, thus alleviating the current increase in debris damage due to climate change.
The purpose of this study was to find characteristics of $Pinus$$densiflora$ forests in previous records and cultural landscape regions and to establish a management method for recovery of $P.$$densiflora$ landscape. A total of 16 landscape paintings were analyzed to study $P.$$densiflora$ forests in Inwangsan(Mt.) shown in figure data. As a result of analyzing figure data, $P.$$densiflora$$forests$ were found to be distributed mainly in the ridge line of east slope side of Inwangsan(Mt.) from landscape paintings of Jung Seon, Jang Si Heung and Gang Hee Un. In order to analyze the landscape of $P.$$densiflora$ forests shown in photograph data on Inwangsan(Mt.), photographs of Inwangsan(Mt.) since late 1800s were searched and a total of 24 photographs were used for analysis. As a result of photographic analysis, $P.$$densiflora$ forests were found to be distributed mainly in the low area and ridge line of western slope side of Inwangsan(Mt.). As a result of analyzing the distribution status of 10 cultural heritages of Inwangsan(Mt.), cultural heritages in the mountain were mainly established with rocks and $P.$$densiflora$ forests as the background and are establishing their landscape not only as a form of cultural heritage but also including the natural landscape in the background. A method of restoring cultural landscape of P. densiflora forests was necessary. As a result of analyzing 26 rock beds of Inwangsan(Mt.), most of $P.$$densiflora$ forests were distributed nearby rock beds since the past. Among such regions, restoration and management of introduced species in the accumulated soil regions to $P.$$densiflora$ forests were deemed necessary. As a result of analyzing current vegetation of $P.$$densiflora$ forest areas of the past, 51.87% of areas maintained $P.$$densiflora$ forest and 25.80% were changed to artificial forests. Most of low areas of the mountain were turned into urban area (10.16%). Management type for restoration of $P.$$densiflora$ landscape of Inwangsan(Mt.) was classified into preservation, $P.$$densiflora$ restoration and maintenance. Preservation management was configured as $P.$$densiflora$ distribution and rocky area distribution. The targets of $P.$$densiflora$ restoration were indigenous broad-leaf trees, vegetation areas with introduced species and damaged regions within the mountain. The targets of maintenance were urban area in the low area of Inwangsan(Mt.) and military base at the top of the mountain.
A floristic study on the vascular plants from Mt. Seounsan region, which ranges from Seoun-myeon, Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do to Baekgok-myeon, Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, was conducted 9 times in total, from April 2014 to October 2015. Based on the voucher specimens, it was revealed that the vascular plants in this region comprised 501 taxa: 97 families, 306 genera, 439 species, 5 subspecies, 51 varieties, and 6 forma. Among these plants, 185 taxa were recorded for the first time from this region. 8 Korean endemic species including Asarum patens (K.Yamaki) B.U.Oh, Scutellaria insignis Nakai, and Weigela subsessilis (Nakai) L.H.Bailey were found in this region. 5 taxa of rare plants designated by the Korea Forest Service, including Iris ruthenica KerGawl., Leontopodium leontopodioides (Willd.) Beauverd, and Tricyrtis macropoda Miq., were also found. 11 taxa of floristic regional indicator plants in the $3^{rd}$ to the $5^{th}$ degrees were identified. In addition, 46 taxa of naturalized plants were recorded, and 2 taxa of ecosystem disturbance plants, which were Ambrosia trifida L. and Aster pilosus Willd., also found.
This study aimed to analyze characteristics of the seasonal habitat use of reintroduced Long-tailed Gorals (n=7) in Woraksan (mountain) National Park. We collected 10,721 goral coordinates in Woraksan (mountain) National Park via transmitters, and analyzed habitat use (e.g., aspect, distance from stream and road) from November 2006 to January 2013. Aspect use was southwest (22.6 %), and seasonal aspect use had a southwestern slope (in the spring, summer, and autumn). A northwestern aspect was detected in winter, but slope of $30^{\circ}{\sim}35^{\circ}$ (19.0 %) was used regardless of the season and mean elevation use was 500 m. Moreover, seasonal use was higher in the summer and lower in the winter and spring. The distance from the stream was mainly 50 m in 17.2 %, except in the winter (distance of 300 m), and it was within 50 m in the spring, summer, and autumn. The distance from the road was 100 m in 25.7 %, and seasonal use was within 100 m except for the winter. Thus, we examined significant differences in the habitat use of reintroduced gorals in Woraksan (mountain), and provide elementary data for habitat stabilization of Woraksan (mountain) National Park where goral restoration has advanced.
'Manmibyeo', a new japonica rice cultivar, is a mid-late maturing ecotype cultivar developed by the rice breeding team of Department of Functional Crop, NICS, RDA in 2002. This cultivar was originated from the cross between 'Milyang 95' and $F_1$ of the cross between 'Bukrukbanna' and 'Milyang 95' in 1990/1991 winter season. It was selected by pedigree breeding method until F6 generation, and a promising line, YR14545-9-2-3-4, was advanced and designated as 'Milyang 162' in 1996. The local adaptability test of 'Milyang 162' was carried out at seven locations during 3 years in 1997, 1998 and 2002. It has about 86cm culm length and is lodging tolerant. This cultivar is susceptible to bacterial blight ($K_1$, $K_2$, $K_3$) and stripe virus, and moderately resistant to leaf blast disease. Milled rice kernels of 'Manmibyeo' is translucent with low amylose content in endosperm, clear in chalkiness and good at eating quality in panel test. The yield potential of 'Manmibyeo' in milled rice was about 4.46 MT/ha at ordinary fertilizer level in local adaptability test. This cultivar would be adaptable to the southern plain of Korea.

Echinosophora koreensis (Nakai) Nakai (Leguminosae) is one of the threatened plant growing in secondary forest with sparse pine forest. The aim of this research is to investigate current status in a habitat of E. koreensis population, and obtain knowledge for conservation of the population. The flora of vascular plants and vegetation were investigated in the habitat E. koreensis in Mt. Bibong, Gangweon Province. Investigation were carried out in August 2003 and May 2008 at the three different habitats. As a result, a total 40 species 7 varieties of 28 family were recorded in whole area. The vegetation of investigated area was typical northern-temperate Pinus forest, humidity of soil was low and located at a slope area. These investigated area is very important for conservation of rare plant, E. koreensis. Therefore, sustainable conservation strategy such as designation of conservation area should be prepared urgently by the results of long-term monitoring studies.
The flora in the region of Mt. Sobaeksan National Park ($N36^{\circ}50^{\prime}-37^{\circ}50^{\prime}$, $E128^{\circ}20^{\prime}-128^{\circ}43^{\prime}$) was surveyed from April of 2005 to October of 2011. The vascular plants from 27 field surveys were revealed to total 869 taxa, comprising 112 families, 429 genera, 756 species, four subspecies, 91 varieties and 18 forms. Sixty-eight taxa were the first records from this region. This field study discovered significant plants in various categories. Korean endemic plants numbered 25 taxa, and 18 taxa designated by the Korean Forest Service as rare plants were investigated in this region. The taxa in category II of rare and endangered plants and higher than the third degree among the floristic regional indicator plants designated by the Korean Ministry of the Environment were three taxa and 75 taxa, respectively. From a geographical perspective, limited distribution of Saxifraga octopetala, Corydalis grandicalyx, Aegopodium alpestre, and Polygonatum acuminatifolium at a latitude higher than that of Sobaeksan National Park suggest that Sobaeksan National Park might be the limit line of the distribution of the taxa. Stewartia koreana demonstrate a reversed pattern from the taxa above, occurring at a latitude lower than that of Sobaeksan National Park. In addition, naturalized plants of 53 taxa were recorded.
