PDP(plasma display panel) represents the gray levels by the pulse number modulation technique that results in undesirable dynamic false contours on moving images. This paper proposes a LUT(Look-up table) based error diffusion algorithm for reduction of the dynamic false contours. A quantitative measure of the dynamic false contours is defined first. The measure of the dynamic false contours is calculated through simulation of every gray level combination of two consecutive frames. Based on the calculated measures, a modified gray level for a pair of gray levels of two consecutive frames is chosen to reduce the dynamic false contours. The chosen gray levels serve as contents of a gray level conversion LUT. Given a pair of gray levels of two consecutive frames, the gray level of current frame is modified based on the gray level conversion LUT. The new gray level is displayed on PDP. An error diffusion algorithm is, then, applied to compensate for the differences in the gray levels.

Welding systems cannot adapt to changes in the joint geometry which may occur due to a variety of reason. Automatic seam tracking technigue is essential to adjust the welding torch position in real time as it moves along the seam. Automatic tracking system must keep the welding speed constant unrelation to the change of the welding path. Therefore, the information from the laser displacement sensor must be converted into the input to operate the X-Y table and to rotate the desired torch position by proposed algorithm. In this research, laser displacement sensor is used as a seam finder in the automatic tracking system. X-Y moving table manipulated by ac servo motor controls the position and velocity of the torch-and-sensor part. DC motor controls the position and velocity of the torch. X-Y table controls the position of sensor and relative position of torch is controlled by dc motor which is mounted at sensor-and-torch part. Sensor is always ahead of torch to preview the weld line. From the experimental results, we could see the possiblity that the laser displacement sensor can be used as a seam finder in welding process and that the seam tracking system controlled by proposed algorithm is well done.

The geostatistical method Kriging is used to estimate the areal distributions of the depth to the water table and the altitude of the water table measured from the sea level. A northern part of the city of Pohang, Kyeong-Buk, Korea has been chosen and the digital map of the area with 1:5,000 scale from the National Geographic Information System (NGIS) project by National Geographic Institute has bun used to reproduce the ground surface distribution. The water table depth appears to be in the range between 7 m and 9.5 m except a few localities where mountain tops exist and the use of groundwater for agicultural purposes is believed to be heavy. The overall distribution of the water table altitude shows a monotonic gradual decrease from the west to the east (seaward direction from the inland) and to the south with maximum rate approximately at 90 m over 6 km in horizontal distance and indicates that the groundwater is moving several meters per day there.

Moving flexible structures such as transfer systems in press machine, crane, working table of machine tools have vibration problems because of starting, feeding and stopping. An analysis method is suggested and experimentally studied in order to solve a vibration problem of a moving flexible structure. In this method, the concepts of substructure synthesis method and semi-static displacement including rigid body mode were used. Total deformation of a structure was assumed to be composed of quasi-static and dynamic components. Experimental results from an elementary model of a transfer feeder showed good agreements with computational results.

Many students have misconceptions about the direction of force of moving objects, but development of teaching strategy for conceptual change is not easy because the direction of force of moving objects can not be observed directly. Therefore, we devloped demonstration using table tennis ball connected with spring in the water, in which a ball always move to the direction of force of moving objects. This study is to investigate students' responses on the demonstrations designed to generate cognitive conflict and to understand more deeply the process of conceptual change. To do this, five questions were administrated to identify students' preconceptions about force and motion, and interview was conducted using demonstrations, and the process of interview was recorded by video camera. About half of students changed their preconceptions by observing the demonstration. However about thirty percentage of students did not change their preconceptions even though they observed demonstration correctly, among these students, some students simply rejected the observation, doubted the process of demonstrations, or reinterpret the result of observation to preserve their own preconceptions.
MANET is developed technique fairly among many field of wireless network. Nodes which consist of MANET transmit data using multi-hop wireless connection. Caching scheme is technique which can improve data access capacity and availability of nodes. Previous studies were achieved about dynamic routing protocol to improve multi-hop connection of moving nodes. But management and maintenance of effective cache information because of movement of nodes is not easy. In this study, we proposed cluster-based caching scheme to manage connection by decreasing overhead and moving of nodes as moving node discovers cache of wish information. And HLP was used to maintain effective cache table in each cluster head. Efficiency of proposed technique in this study was confirmed by experiment.
Until now, many indexing methods that can reduce update cost have been proposed for managing massive moving objects. Because indexing methods for moving objects have to be updated periodically for managing moving objects that change their location data frequently. However these kinds indexing methods occur big load that exceed system capacity when the number of moving objects increase dramatically. In this paper, we propose the update frequency reducing method to combine MapReduce and existing indices. We use the update request grouping method for each moving object by using MapReduce. We decide to update by comparing the latest data and the oldest data in grouping data. We reduce update frequency by updating the latest data only. When update is delayed, for the data should not be lost and updated periodically, we store the data in a certain period of time in the hash table that keep previous update data. By the performance evaluation, we can prove that the proposed method reduces the update frequency by comparison with methods that are not applied the proposed method.

In order primarily to establish the working stages in the reclamation works and to- analyze the working characteristics of man-power, the investigations for construction_ works were conducted on Echeon Largescale Reclamation Project Area. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The working chart on reclamation by man-power is Fig.IV-1. 2. The. ratio of actual working time to total varied with the total times, being 1.0 for less than 4 hours but about 0.9-0.83 for more than 5 hours. 3. Felling operations can be classified into three stages as truck-cutting, branch- cutting, and binding-up, of which results are in Table IV-2. The larger the diameter of stands, the more times for both the cutting operations are, but the moving time is constant to be about 15 sec. 4. Stumping and clearing works have the results prepared in Table IV-3. Between the stumping time and the diameter of stands d, there show highly significant positive correlations, expressed as t=2.212d -4.792. The more the ratio of small diameters to total, the more hastily the total hourly working results of each person are increased. 5. Working results for constructing drainage facilities and ridges are in Table IV-5. The labours for placing patches of grass are required more than twice or three times as much as those are showed in the established standards, and such the different results imply more investigation to be necessary. 6. Table IV-6 sholvs the results for plowing andh arrowing, that are less amount thant the standards. Therefore, more inverestigation should be prepared.

In this paper, we propose a modified AFC algorithm which is suitable for the implementation of WCDMA reverse link receiver modem. To reduce the complexity, the modified CP-FDD algorithm named 'Normalized CP-FDD' is applied to the AFC loop. The proposed FDD algorithm overcomes the conventional CP-FDD's sensitivity to the variance of input signal amplitude and increases the linear range of S -curve. Therefore, offset frequency estimation using the proposed scheme can be more stable than the conventional method. Unlike IS-95, since pilot symbol in WCDMA is not transmitted continuously, we introduce a moving average filter at the FDD input to increase the number of cross-product. So, tracking speed and stability are improved. For more rapid frequency acquisition and tracking, we adopt a multi-stage tracking mode. Using NCO having ROM table structure, the frequency offset is compensated. We applied the proposed algorithm in the implementation of WCDMA base station modem successfully.

The straightness property is one of fundamental geometric tolerances to be strictly controlled for guideways of machine tools and measuring machines. The staightness measurement for long guideways was usually difficult to perform, and it needed additional equipments or special treatment with limited application. In this paper, a new approach is proposed using the profile matching technique for the long guideways, which can be applicable to most of straghtness measurements. An edge of relativelly sthort length is located along a divided section of a long guideway, and the local straightness measurement is performed. The edge is then moved to the next section with several positions overlap. After thelocal straightness profile is measured for every section along the long guideway with overlap, the global straightness profile is constructed using the profile matching technique based on theleast squares method. The proposed techinique is numerically tested for two cases of known global straightness profile arc profile and irregular profile and those profiles with and without random error intervention, respectively. When norandom errors are involved, the constructed golval profile is identical to the original profile. When the random errors are involved, the effect of the number of overlap points are investigated, and it is also found that the difference between the difference between the constructed and original profiles is very close to the limit of random uncertainty with juist few overlap points. The developed technique has been practically applied to a vertical milling machine of moving table type, and showed good performance. Thus the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are demonstrated, and shows great potential for variety of application for most of straightness measuirement cases using straight edges, laser optics, and angular measurement equipments.
