This study was performed to understand temperature effect on retention behavior of fructose and glucose as sugars and lactic acid and acetic acid as organic acids on poly (4-vinylpyridine) resin. The pulse tests were performed to understand temperature effect on retention time of sugars and the results were not shown large change. As it was able to predict with PVP resin not to be used for sugar separation generally, the results were shown poor resolution for separation of sugars and temperature effect on the resolution change of sugars also was not large. On the other hand, in the case of organic acids on PVP resin, the pulse tests were shown temperature effect on the retention behavior was very large. So, the frontal analyses were performed to understand quantitative adsorption behavior of organic acids at 35 and $65^{\circ}C$. These adsorption characteristics of organic acids with PVP resin system can be used to preparative chromatographic process such as SMB (simulated moving bed).
The behavior of continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) and the effect of the steel ratio on the behavior under moving wheel loads were investigated in this study. The CRCP sections having different steel ratios of 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8% were considered to evaluate the load transfer efficiency (LTE) at transverse cracks and to investigate the strains in CRCP when the system is subjected to moving vehicle loads. The LTEs were obtained by conducting the falling weight deflectometer (FWD) tests and the tests were performed at three different times of a day to find the curling effect due to the daily temperature changes in CRCP. The strains in the concrete slab and the bond braker layer of the CRCP system under moving vehicle loads were obtained using the embedded strain gages. The results of this study show that the LTEs at transverse cracks are very high and not affected by the time of testing and the steel ratio. The strains in CRCP under vehicle loads become smaller as the vehicle speed increases or as the wandering distance increases; however, the strains are not clearly affected by the steel ratio.
Water is known to playa crucial role on friction of moving parts in nanoscale contact. Little is, however, known about the tribological behavior of a solid surface that is covered with water adsorption layer. The objective of this study is to investigate the nanotribological behavior of the water layer in relation to water affinity of the surface and relative humidity. This paper presents an examination of the frictional behavior of water adsorption layer as 'confined liquid film'. It is shown that the friction is inversely proportional to the hydrophilicity of surface and relative humidity. On the other hand, friction of hydrophobic surface is not influenced by relative humidity. A model is proposed for the water-mediated contact in which it is shown that the water layer between two hydrophilic surfaces with high relative humidity behaves as a lubricant.
A study on the progressive inelastic deformation behavior of the 316 L stainless steel cylindrical structure with plate-to-shell junction under moving temperature front was carried out by structural test and analysis. The structural test intends to simulate the thermal ratcheting behavior occurring at the reactor baffle of the liquid metal reactor as free surface of hot sodium pool moves up and down under plant transients. The thermal ratchet load that heats the specimen up to 550$^{\circ}C$ was applied repeatedly and residual deformation was measured. The thermal ratcheting test was carried out with two types of cylindrical structures, one with plate to-shell junction and the other without the junction to investigate the effects of the geometric discontinuities on the global ratcheting deformation. The temperature distributions of the test specimens were measured and were used for the ratcheting analysis. The ratchet deformations were analyzed with the constitutive equation of the non-linear combined hardening model. The analysis results were in good agreement with those of the structural tests.

Charged liquid particle's behavior in electric and flow field was simulated to define the effect of electric field on the contact area and its dispersion. For the simulation of flow and electric field finite volume method was applied. To find out the particle's moving path in that field lagrangian equation of motion was solved by Runge-Kutta methods. We assumed that the particle was charged 10% of Rayleigh limit while the particle passing through the electrode and the particle does not have an effect on the electric field. In case of 30[Kv] of voltage charging the particles injected from the central 60% of the nozzle injection area adhere to the grounded moving plate and no dispersion occurred. Increasing the charged voltage to 40[Kv], it brought about the same phenomena as that of 30[Kv] charging except the dispersion. Voltage increasing from 30[Kv] to 40 [Kv] caused higher Coulomb force acts on the particle and it made the particle dispersion.

The high-pressure hydrogen valve is intended to supply hydrogen charged at high pressure in the hydrogen tank to the fuel cell stack, which decompresses high-pressure hydrogen gas to low pressure and primarily limits the excessive flow. It consists of a pilot valve, a main valve, and a excessive flow valve to operate in a wide pressure range from 2 to 70 MPa of charging pressure. The opening characteristics of the valve were confirmed by computation fluid dynamics applying the moving grid technique. The behavior of the valve was predicted by predicting the force acting on the valve over time. In addition, the difference in behavior according to supply pressure was compared.
The missile is affected by both spinning and axial motion during its movement, which will have a very adverse impact on the stability and reliability of the missile. This paper regards missiles as cylindrical shell structures with spinning and axial motion. In this article, the forced vibration of carbon nanotube-reinforced composites (CNTRCs) cylindrical shells with spinning motion and axial motion is investigated, in which the clamped-clamped and simply-simply supported boundary conditions are considered. The displacement field is described by the first-order shear theory, and the vibration equation is deduced by using the Euler-Lagrange equation, after dimensionless processing, the dimensionless equation of motion is obtained. The correctness of this paper is verified by comparing with the results of the existing literature, in which the simply-simply supported ends are taken into account. In the end, the effects of different parameters such as spinning velocity, axial velocity, carbon nanotube volume fraction, length thickness ratio and load position on the resonance behavior of cylindrical shells are given. It can be found that these parameters can significantly change the resonance of axially moving and rotating moving CNTRCs cylindrical shells.

In this dissertation, experimental research was carried out to study the hysteretic behavior of reinforced high-strength concrete beam-column joints designed by high performance techniques, such as application of high-strength concrete, reducing of joint regions damage, moving of beam plastic hinge, advanced reinforcing detailings and High Ductile Fiber-Reinforced Mortar.(HDFRM) Specimens(HJCI), designed by the development of earthquake-resistant performance, moving of beam plastic hinge, and new design approach, were attained the moving of beam plastic hinge and developed significantly earthquake-resistant performance of such joints. Specimens(HJRP), designed with HDFRM, were indicated more stable hysteresis behavior, high load carrying capacity, and distributed crack pattern of specimens HJRP when compared to the control specimen.
