  • Recently recommendation methods need personalization and diversity as well as accuracy whereas the traditional researches have been mainly focused on the accuracy of recommendation in terms of quality. The diversity of recommendation is also important to people in terms of quantity in addition to quality since people's desire for content consumption have been stronger rapidly than past. In this paper, we pay attention to similarity of data gathered simultaneously among different types of contents. With this motivation, we propose an enhanced recommendation method using correlation analysis with considering data similarity between two types of contents which are movie and music. Specifically, we regard folksonomy tags for music as correlated data of genres for movie even though they are different attributes depend on their contents. That is, we make result of new recommendation movie items through mapping music folksonomy tags to movie genres in addition to the recommendation items from the typical collaborative filtering. We evaluate effectiveness of our method by experiments with real data set. As the result of experimentation, we found that the diversity of recommendation could be extended by considering data similarity between music contents and movie contents.

  • This manuscript aims to study on the strategy in conversion of media to movie as the second exit for consumption on the webtoon and it can strengthen the position of webtoon as the orignal work. This was just since webtoon had been adapted in other media. The characteristics of media in webtoon can be merit but is variable because the characteristics of media between movie and webtoon are entirely different. , webtoon had storytelling with impressive characters as the component which was proper to media of movie in comparison of the precedent works whose media had been converted from the original webtoon. In case of movies whose media had been converted from the original webtoon, it is inevitably to be dramatized by a director because it is converted to completely different media. The discriminative factors of storytelling are largely owed to the variation of the simple lined characters and structure of storytelling. These could make receivers understand easily when they watch the movie . And then, it had a role as the mechanism that receivers satisfied their expectation. Finally, the movie was succeed with these reasons.

  • Many researchers have analyzed the relationship between the financial success patterns of a motion picture and many other factors, such as the production cost, marketing, stars, awards, reviews, genre, and rating. Through these studies, many researchers and investors concluded that big budgets to make a blockbuster movie can serve as an insurance policy to meet their ROI; thus the box office is dominated by blockbuster movies. High-budget blockbuster movies are more likely to receive attention because these movies are more recognizable given their high expenses for production and casting. Therefore, audiences choose blockbusters in an effort to reduce the searching cost and to mitigate the possibility of a regrettable choice. This behavior of consumers, in turn, causes distributors to allocate screens for blockbusters, resulting in "concentration of blockbuster consumption." As such, low-budget films cannot easily become popular due to the lack of distribution. Indeed, low-budget films released on a small number of screens often end up becoming dismal failures. However, there are exceptional examples which are contrary to the general idea in the movie industry that a big budget and showings on a large number of screens can guarantee the success of a movie. Although researchers have attempted to analyze the performances of movies with small budgets, such movies are likely to be regarded as outliers and then be entirely discarded, as they are far from the 'three-sigma' range, especially given that previous research methodologies could not explain the financial success of such unique examples. This study attempts to explain the financial success at the box office of low-budget movies by applying the concept of the tunnel effect in quantum mechanics, as the phenomenon found in the movie industry is similar to a particle's movement in quantum physics. The tunneling effect is a phenomenon by which a particle without enough energy to pass over a potential barrier tunnels through it. Adopting the analogy, this study draws a tunneling probability function and cultural constant to forecast other outliers using the Schrödinger equation. Moreover, the study finds that word-of-mouth creates in the movie industry this phenomenon of finding outliers.

  • This article investigates the role of Japan in Korean consumption of Nordic design. In spite of the development of greater access to wide information and global markets, the popular trends in Korea have been mediated by Japan. The cultural power of Japan comes from otaku subculture. Japanese influence can be discussed by two sides. One is the images or symbols composing the Nordic style in Korea. The other is the way how to consume the Nordic design. Japanese neopop images combined with the Nordic design. Japanese 'slow movie' has combined American Kinfolk style with Nordic style. 'Database consumption' from otaku subcultre conceptualized by Azma Hiroki can be applied to Korean consumption of Nordic design.

  • This study examines characteristics of sports movies between Korea and the U.S. Especially, this paper focuses on three different characteristics including structural, internal characteristics and performance of sports movies. The major results are as follows: firstly, there were similarities between two countries in terms of opening year, genre, classification but movie subjects. More specifically, movie opening years were not related to global sports events. In addition, most sports movies were mainly produced by human genre and all age movie classification. However, in terms of sports subjects, although Korean movies were constructed by baseball game, the U.S. movies were based on football game. Secondly, there were also similarities between both sports movies in terms of external characteristics such as gender difference of hero or heroine, internal story structure and their story sources. Most of sports movies have used real stories as movie story. Finally, although many of the U.S. sports movies recorded the high degree of expenditures, three movies recorded the high degree of movie consumption.

  • This paper analyzes the effect of the number of viewers and the number of running screens in the theater, genres of the movies and holdback period on the number of purchases movie VOD contents. In this paper, we deals with the 169 movies VOD consumption data which the digital cable TV subscribers purchased during the third quarter of 2013. As a result of the research, the average number of VOD purchases per each movie is 2,540. Regression analysis proves that the number of running screens and the holdback period are statistically playing a role of significance in movie VOD purchases. But the number of viewers in the theaters is not of significance. By genres, the result is shown as in this order: SF/fantasy 8,401 > dramas 4,011 > comedies 2,011 > action 1,789 > animation 1,138 > love story/melo 1,119 > horror/thriller 770 > erotic movies 636.

  • The purpose of this study is to activate the study on movercial. To accomplish of this, the objectives of this study are two-fold. First, this study attempts to find out how movercial are interpreted and experienced compared to product placement; and secondly, to delineate experience and interpretation in terms of the themes of movie centrality and consumption-specific relevance. This study attempted qualitative approach comparing to the criteria consisted of the themes of movie centrality and consumption-specific relevance to gain in-depth understanding of how movercial which is popped up and regarded as a newly creative format in the diffusion of internet culture and mobile communication environment is experienced and interpreted. For this aim, the moviegoer informants were classified into frequent and infrequent based on the classification method of previous product placement study of Delorme & Reid(1999) and Focus Group Interviews and In-depth Interviews were executed for understanding of how are experienced. Major implications of this study were as follows. First, prior experience of brand exposure from movercial enhanced familiarity for advertising in real-life. Second, movercial can be used to influential tools for purchasing decision with advertising and product placement. Third, informants experienced uncomfortable feeling of change and discomfort against the format of hybrid commercial message such as movercial and PPL which is penetrating into the culture and art at large.

  • Generally, HDDs are widely used as data storage device in office, home and mobile machineries. So, it is used for various applications or tasks, such as file copy, file download, music and movie play etc., in various environment. In spite of this kind of varieties in tasks and environment in which HDDs perform, most commercial HDDs hardly control its operations adaptively to these varieties. Thus, it is preferred to optimize the performance and energy consumption of HDDs according to the task and/or the environment. So, this paper proposes a new fuzzy inference algorithm which adaptively controls HDDs operations and may also easily be implemented as the firmware of HDDs and run in the restricted environment such as embedded systems.

  • There have been various efforts to achieve a better PDP TV, which have low power consumption, high image quality and low price. As the results, the power consumption of LG's new 42 inch HD PDP could be lower than 42 inch LCD under the general movie display load condition. And the address discharge time lag of ${\sim}1\;{\mu}s$ for 42 and 50 inch XGA single scan by which the cost can be reduced and image quality can be improved was achieved by using new MgO material and driving waveform. In addition, we have suggested TCA (Triangular Color pixel Arrangement) cell structure for realizing the full HDTV of 60inch diagonal size, which has $1920{\times}1080$ resolution. The luminous efficiency of the suggested TCA structure has been increased about 40% compared with that of the conventional cell structure.

  • This study introduced the concept of 'Media-content repertoire', which indicates the set of favorite media-content combinations of media users and extracted five media user types based on those combinations. We used the range of media(i.e., smartphone, tablet, PC, and TV) and entertainment content(i.e., movie, broadcasting, music, and game) for the analysis. Also, we investigated the differences between those types including demographic variables, individual characteristics, and content buying behavior and we found that statistically significant differences exist among them. Those include 'non-user'(i.e., lower level of media use), 'screen user'(i.e., 50s, TV-centered media use), 'variety seeker'(i.e., 20s. heavy public transport user), 'selective focus'(i.e., 20,30s, movie&broadcasting-centered media use), and 'heavy user'(i.e., high level of media use and consumption). The results provide both academic implications(e.g., extension of media repertoire concept) and practical implications(e.g., direction to the target marketing for each user type).
