  • The shock test of shipboard equipments is performed for the evaluation of the shock-resistant. capability by analyzing the maximum acceleration, the effective time duration and the shock response spectrum, etc. But some measured signals have impulsive noise and gaussian white noise because of the ambient noise, the acquisition equipment error and the transient movement of cables during the shock test. The improved transient signal analysis method which removes the noise of measured signal using the threshold policy of the median filter and the orthogonal wavelet coefficients is proposed. It was verified that the signal-to-noise ratio was improved about 30dB by the numerical simulation. And the shock response spectrum was extracted using the denoised shock response signal which was applied by this proposed method.

  • The damping force is determined by four valves and the components which consist of the shock absorber for vehicle. In this study it is investigated the individual effects of four valves and these components on damping forces using dynamic behaviour analysis program of the shock absorber. In addition, opening of main valves are researched during compression and tension cycle due to up- down reciprocation movement of piston. We are to strictly control the properties and tolerance of componenets having important effects on the damping force. Thus we are intended to produce shock absorber of better quality.

  • The shock absorber base assembly is one of the parts in the shock absorber equipment that controls the vehicle movement. It absorbs the shock and vibration to guarantee riding stability and comfort. It demands strength, reliability and strict airtightness of the welded section because the shock absorber base assembly is a container which resists pressure and needs durability by being filled with gas and oil. However, the current engineering needs a lot of production time, has a high cost and shows a low production rate. These problem due to the eight production processes, four of which are spot welding, reinforcement welding like metal active welding (MAG), prior process of the base assembly cap and tube for precision and pressing. We will analyze the manufacturing processes of the base assembly and suggest an improved manufacturing method that uses frictional welding. The results will show that the new method of the frictional welding is better than the previous welding technique. Through the use of this concept of frictional welding, the welding conjunction will be strengthened, measurements will be more precise, and the cost and the number of processes will be reduced.

  • One of the landslide, Debris flow means flow mixed of rocks, gravels, sand and soil with water. Debris flow occurred in summer by passed the rainy season and typhoon. Especially, Localized heavy rain derived from abnormal weather caused debris flow independent of season. It is increase to collapse of house, bridge, roads by debris flow but countermeasure studies about occurrence cause, movement pattern, damage scale about debris flow are insufficient. This study performed debris flow model experiment using dry material and calculated shock force predicted debris flow occurrence.

  • The purpose of this study was to characterize the impact shock wave and its attenuation, and the kinematic response of the lower extremity's joints to the impact shock during downhill running in which the lower extremity's extensor acts dominantly. For this study, fifteen subjects(mean age:$27.08{\pm}4.39$; mass:$76.30{\pm}6.60$; height:$177.25{\pm}4.11$) were required to run on the 0% grade treadmill and downhill grades of 7%, and 15% in random at speed of their preference. When the participant run, acceleration at the tibia and the sacrum and kinematic data of the lower extremity were collected for 20s so as to provide at least 5 strides for analysis at each grade. Peak impact accelerations were used to calculate shock attenuation between the tibia and sacrum in time domain at each grade. Fast Fourier transformation(FFT) and power spectral density(PSD) techniques were used to analyze impact shock factors and its attenuation in the frequency domain. Joint coordinate system technique was used to compute angular displacement of the ankle and knee joint in three dimension. The conclusions were drawn as fellows: 1. Peak impact accelerations of the tibia and sacrum in downhill run were greater than that of 0% grade run, but no significant between conditions. Peak shock of PSD resembled also in pattern of peak impact acceleration. The wave of impact shock attenuation between the tibia and sacrum decreased with increasing grade, but didn't find a significant difference between grade conditions. 2. Adduction/abduction, flexion/extention, and internal/external rotation of the ankle and knee joints at support phase between grade conditions didn't make much difference. 3. At grade of 7% and 15%, there were relationship between the knee of the flexion/extension movement and peak impact acceleration during heel strike and found also it in the ankle of plantar/dorsiflexion at grade of 15%.

  • Both the nozzle expansion ratio and the chamber pressure are simultaneously and continuously changed according to pintle movement, resulting in a different internal flow structure and flow separation characteristics. In this paper, the pintle position effect on nozzle flow structure and separation phenomena is analyzed by experimental-aided Computational Fluid Dynamic(CFD). Among the turbulent models for RANS(Reynold Averaged Navier Stokes) in Fluent, Spalart-Allmaras model is better agreement with the nozzle wall pressure distribution attained by cold-flow test than other models. And even if a conical nozzle is used, there is a shock structure similar to cap-shock pattern mainly occurred in contoured or shaped optimized nozzle because of internal shock generated from pintle tip flow separation.

  • This survey provides research into developing knee braces to protect the knee against damage, reduce knee pain, and strengthen the knee. A total of 235 surveys were conducted from December 2019 to January 2020. The subjects were adults in their 20s and over who lived in the Seoul metropolitan area and had experience of using knee braces. In terms of age differences, subjects over 60 years of age purchased knee braces mostly to secure a reduction of pain (ROP), whereas subjects in their 20s and 30s purchased knee braces for physical shock protection (PSP). Subjects in their 40s and 50s purchased knee braces for improvement of muscle movement (IMM). There was no significant difference in shape, material, and locking method based on the reason for wearing the knee brace. These results show that it is conceivable and maybe preferable to produce different knee braces-with a variety of shapes, materials, and locking materials-according to the reason behind wearing a knee brace. Knee braces are worn currently without any differentiation despite the findings of this study. In particular, we argue the need for functional and differentiated development of knee braces specifically for PSP, ROP, and IMM.

  • In this research, theoretical study on empirical analysis method to estimate waterdrop's deformation by shock wave is presented. Flow field is calculated using theoretical and empirical relations. Waterdrop's deformation including movement, size, mass, and orientation is modeled using empirical relations derived from existing experimental data. Developed method is applied to specific flight examples with arbitrary flight speed and vehicle's configuration. The flight speed is assumed to Mach number of 2 and 4. The diameter of waterdrop is varied from 1 to 5 mm. Waterdrops along the stagnation line in front of hemispherical nose with the radius of 50 mm and around a cone-shaped side wall with the half angle of 20 degree are considered. It is found that the maximum diameter of the waterdrop is increased up to 2.77 times the initial diameter. The mass is conserved more than 66.7 %. In the case of a cone-shaped side wall, waterdrop's orientation angles defined from the flight direction when the Mach number is 2 and 4 are calculated as 33.0 and 25.6 degree, respectively.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of extracorporeal shock-wave therapy (ESWT) on pain, grip strength, and upper-extremity function in patients diagnosed with lateral epicondylitis and to provide an effective intervention method for lateral epicondylitis. Methods: Twenty patients with lateral epicondylitis were randomly assigned to the ESWT group (n = 10) and the stretching exercise group (n = 10). Interventions in both groups were performed six times twice a week for three weeks. The visible analog scale (VAS) was used to measure pain change. A dynamometer was used to measure grip strength (GS). Patient-rated tennis elbow evaluation (PRTEE) was used to measure the upper-extremity function. Results: There were significant differences in pain, grip strength, and upper-extremity function in both groups before and after intervention (p < 0.05). There were also significant differences in pain, grip strength, and upper-extremity function between the groups after intervention (p < 0.05). Conclusion: This study showed very positive improvement in pain, grip strength, and upper-extremity function after ESWT in patients with lateral epicondylitis. Therefore, ESWT can be recommended for patients with lateral epicondylitis.

  • Transition sequence of rocket to ramjet was simulated numerically for a two-dimensional axisymmetric can-type ramjet engine. Multi-species preconditioned Navier-Stokes equations with $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model and finite-rate chemistry model was employed. To calculate transition sequence, initial flow-field conditions for inlet diffuser with closed port-cover was computed first, and then that result was applied as initial conditions after port-cover opened. Terminal shock was developed as a result of increased pressure in a combustor due to combustion and ramjet operated at supercritical condition. For a smaller nozzle throat area, buzz instability was occurred. Strong pressure oscillations were observed as a result of forward and backward movement of terminal shock and those oscillations were not damped out.
