The purpose of this study was to analyze drainage facilities in mountainous urban neigbborhood parks--Baebongsan Park and Ogeum Park--in Seoul. Based on an analysis of existing drainage facilities, the volume of storm water runoff (VSW), the runoff rate of open channels(ROC), and the detention capacity of open charmels(DCOC) by each drainage watershed, the coefficient of runoff rate(CROC) as evaluated to be relevant between VSW and ROC and the coefficient of the detention capacity of open channe1s(CDCOC) as evaluated with DCOC compared to VSW were estimated and analyzed by parks and by watersheds. The results are as follows: 1. The total drainage area of Baebongsan Park was 34.13ha including surface runoff area(15.05ha; 44.09%), open channel area(l4.60ha; 42.78%), and natural waterway area(4.48ha; 13.13%). The total drainage area of Ogeum Park was 20.39ha including open channel area (10.14ha; 49.73%), ridge-side gutter area(7.17ha; 35.16%), surface runoff area (2.52ha; 12.36%), and natural waterway area (0.56ha; 2.75%). In Baebongsan Park, the portion of surface runoff was comparatively higher while the portion of artificial drainage area was higber in Ogeum Park. 2. In Baebongsan Park drainage districts were largely divided: VSW was $7.28m^3/s$ in total(average $0.23m^3/s$). Comparatively, tbe VSW in Ogeum Park, including smaller drainage districts, was $4.37m^3/s$ in total(average $0.12m^3/s$). 3. The ROC of Baebmgsan Park was $11.58m^3/s$ in total(average $0.77m^3/s$) and the CROC was 5.26, while in Ogeum Park, the ROC was $15.40m^3/s$(average $0.34m^3/s$) and tbe CROC was 8.87 higher than that of Baebongsan Because the size and slope of the open channel in Baebongsan Park was higher, the average ROC was larger, while tbe CROC of Ogeum Park was higher than that of Baebongsan Park, for the VSW in Ogeum Park was comparatively lower. 4. The DCOC in Baebongsan Park was $554.54m^3$ and the average of CDCOC was 179.83. That of Ogeum Park was $717.74m^3$ and the average of the CDCOC was 339.69, meaning that the DCOC of Ogeum Park was so much higber that drainage facilities in Ogeum Park were built intensively. This study was focused m the capacity of the drainage facilities in mountainous urban neighborhood parks by using the CROC to evaluate relevance between VSW and ROC and the CDCOC to evaluate the DCOC as compared with VSW. The devised methodology and coefficient for evaluating drainage facilities in mountainous urban neighborhood parks may he universally applicable through additional study. Further study m sustainable urban drainage systems for retaining rainwater in a reservoir and for enhancing ecological value is required in the near future.

The survey was carried out in the Goryeong area in Gyeongbug province to point out the hinderances of grave increment on the development of hilly to mountainous area and to give basic data to improve the entombment custom. The total extent of gravesite in the area was mapped 148ha which were 0.4% of total area and 1.8% of arableland respectively. Scattering of graves might be hindered utilization of the mountainous area. Out of the total gravesite, about 60% was situated on the areas of 30-60% slopes, and the occupation extent in average was about $89m^2$ per grave which was wider than that of the national average $52m^2$. The soils occupied by gravas ware characterizod by having recommendable properties about 73% for grassland, about 17% for woodland and 8% for orchards.

Baekdu-daegan is the greatest mountain chain as well as the major ecological axis of the Korean Peninsula. In recent year, however, this area is faced with the various kinds of developmental urge. To cope adequately with these problems, this study was executed to prepare synthetic and systematic management with conservation-oriented strategy for Baekdu-daegan and to suggest spatially definite zoning for the managerial area. This study is to take into consideration the traditional concepts of stream and watershed as well as the actual disturbance on Baekdu-daegan area. The study area is selected with semi-mountainous type, from Namdeokyusan to Sosagogae. To propose the process for reasonably establishing the managerial boundary adjacent to the Ridges, the analysis was carried out that ArcGIS was mainly used for its analysis with digital maps, Landsat TM image and ArcGIS Hydro Model. Landsat TM image was classified by 5 land use types such as cultivated land, urban area, barren area, water body and forest. Based on these analyses results, the managerial boundaries as alternatives from the Ridges were produced by watershed expansion process, and used for tracing the changes of areal ratio of various land use types to the relevant watersheds to search out the adequate managerial boundary. The results show that watershed expansion process could be effective tool for establishing the managerial boundary, and eighth expanded watershed toward Muju-Gun(west) and fifth expanded watershed toward Geochang-Gun(east) might be included for the adequate managerial boundary of the case site.

Tilia amurensis is an important honey plant. As T. amurensis mainly distributes mountainous area with various elevations in Korea, accurate prediction of blooming time at the different elevation would benefit forest beekeepers. In this study, we measured time-dependent blooming progress of T. amurensis in Mt. Gariwang area ranging from 500-1500m. Additionally we collected blooming data from web and published literatures and estimated the variation of blooming time relative to the geographic locations. Flowers began to bloom from July 6 to July 22 with full blooming on July 14 in location where elevation is 638m in Mt. G ariwang area in 2021. Based on these databases, a growing degree day (G DD) model was developed for prediction of T. amurensis blooming progress using average daily temperatures. Using the starting date of G DD accumulation of January 1 and base temperature of 5 ℃, blooming period ranging from 10% to 90% of cumulative blooming rate was estimated as 860-1198 degree days (DD). This corresponded to the beginning to the end of July in Mt. Gariwaning area in 2021. This model could explain the phenological variations of T. amurensis flower blooming possibly affected by elevation within geographic area, latitude or year relative to the climate change, and aid forest beekeepers for better timing of nectar foraging by honey bees.
Lattice steel towers for overhead transmission lines have been replaced by tubular steel poles due to the visual impact of large and complex shape of truss type. Demand for tubular steel poles consisting of a single frame member continues to grow because of its advantages such as visual minimization, architectural appeal and minimal site consumptions. However, there are some constraints on the transportation and construction. As the diameter of tower base has been enlarged, it may exceed minimum height limit required to pass the tunnel in case of land transportation. Also, in a narrow place where it is not easy to secure the installation areas such as mountainous places, there might be some areas wherein it must secure a wide working space so that large vehicles and working cranes will be allowed to enter. In this paper, we presented a vertical separated tubular steel pole, which is a new type of support that can be implemented for general purpose such as mountainous areas or narrow areas to improve the issues raised by breaking away from the conventional design and fabrication methods. Technical approaches for overcoming the limit of the cross-sectional size is to separate and modularize the cross-section of the tubular steel pole designed with a size that cannot be carried or assembled, and to lighten it with a weight capable of being transported and assembled in a narrow space or mountainous area. As a result of this research, it will be possible to enter small and medium sized vehicles in locations where it is restricted to transport by large-sized vehicles. In the case of mountainous areas, it will be possible to divide it into a weight capable of being carried by a helicopter and it will be easy to adjust and fabricate it with individual modules. Furthermore, in order to break away from the traditional construction method, we proposed the equipment that can be applied to the assembly of Tubular Steel Pole without using a large crane in locations where there is no accessible road or in locations wherein large cranes cannot enter. In particular, this paper shows the movable assembling equipment and some methods that are specialized for vertical separated tubular steel pole consisting of members with reduced weight. The proposed assembly equipment is a device for assembling the body of the Tubular Steel Poles. It will be installed inside the support and the modules can be lifted by using the support itself.
Most of the industrial complexes and housing complexes in Busan and Gyeongnam were constructed by developing mountainous areas, except for some landfill areas. During the development process, the surplus soil for site development was mainly used as the embankment material. In the field, however, even if the material of the material changes during the embankment work for site development, for convenience reasons such as construction period and site conditions, the material property test and compaction test are not additionally conducted for the embankment material, and quality control is conducted. In this study, physical property tests and compaction tests were conducted on surplus soils in mountainous areas in Busan, GyungNam Province and then regression analysis was performed on the data. In addition, a comparative analysis was conducted along with existing studies in Korea. The surplus soils at the sites in Busan and Gyeongnam were mainly weathered soils of granites, and were classified into clayey sand (SC) and silty sand (SM). As a result of regression analysis of the compaction characteristics according to the content of coarse and fine soils, the correlation between them was very high. Using the relational formula as a result of this study, it will be very useful for compaction management of the surplus soils in the field.

Drone light detection and ranging (LiDAR) is a state-of-the-art surveying technology that enables close investigation of the top of the mountain slope or the inaccessible slope, and is being used for field surveys in mountainous terrain. To build topographic information using Drone LiDAR, a preprocessing process is required to effectively separate ground and non-ground points from the acquired point cloud. Therefore, in this study, the point group data of the mountain topography was acquired using an aerial LiDAR mounted on a commercial drone, and the application and accuracy of the cloth simulation filtering algorithm, one of the ground separation techniques, was verified. As a result of applying the algorithm, the separation accuracy of the ground and the non-ground was 84.3%, and the kappa coefficient was 0.71, and drone LiDAR data could be effectively used for landslide field surveys in mountainous terrain.

In order to find out better cultivation practices in mid-mountainous area to produce high quality rice, an experiment involving four transplanting times and four varieties was carried out, during past three years $(2002\~2004)$. There was no significantly different on palatability of rice between transplanting time, but an interaction effect was between transplanting time and variety, The palatability of milled rice of Sangmibyeo, Hwayongbyeo and Junambyeo transplanted at May 10th were higher than Samcheonbyeo. The palatability of milled rice grown by May 20th day's transplanted, Sangmibyeo and Junambyeo were higher than Samcheonbyeo. The palatability of milled rice grown by May 30th day's trans-planted, Sangmibyeo and Hwayongbyeo were higher than Samcheonbyeo and Junambyeo. And the palatability of milled rice grown by June 9th day's transplanted, Sangmibyeo and Samcheonbyeo were higher than Hwayongbyeo and Junambyeo. It can infer that Sangmibyeo is one of the best option over the transplanting times in term of palatability, Amylose content of milled rice was showed without a significant difference between transplanting time, but there was an interaction effect between transplanting time and variety. The amylose content of grown by May 20th day's transplanted, Sangmibyeo and Samcheonbyeo were lower than Junambyeo. The amylose content of milled rice grown by June 9th day's transplanted, Sangmibyeo and Samcheonbyeo were lower than Hwayongbyeo and Junambyeo. And the amylose content of milled rice grown by May 10th day's and May 30th day's transplanted, was showed without a significant difference between variety. The protein content of milled rice grown by later season transplanted was lower than grown by earlier, The head rice yield wasn't different significantly between the treatment of transplanting times and varieties. But the yield of milled rice grown by transplanted at May 20th day was high most in between the treatment of transplanting time. In a conclusion gathering all above the results, 20th May day's transplanting time and Sangmibyeo was one of the best option for producing high quality rice among the treatments in considering with head rice yield, palatability, amylose${\cdot}$protein content and productivity, at Mid-mountainous area.
In order to find out better cultivation practices in mid-mountainous area to produce high quality rice, an experiment involving seven nitrogen fertilizer rates and three varieties was carried out, during past two years$(2003\~2004)$. There was an interaction effect on palatability of milled rice between nitrogen fertilizer rate and variety. The palatability of Junambyeo grown by the treatment of nitrogen fertilizer yale wasn't different across the rates significantly, but Hwayongbyeo's palatability grown by 0 kg/ha nitrogen treatment was better than 50, 70,170 kg/ha, and Sangmibyeo's palatability grown by 70 kg/ha nitrogen treatment was better than 90, 110, 140, 170 kg/ha. Amylose content of milled rice was showed without a significant difference between nitrogen fertilizer rate, but in between variety, the amylose content of Sangmibyeo was lower than Hwayongbyeo's, also Hwayongbyeo's amylose content was lower than Junambyeo's. Protein content of milled rice was showed an interaction effect between nitrogen fertilizer rate and variety. The protein content of Hwayongbyeo and Junambyeo grown by the treatment of nitrogen fertilizer rate wasn't different across the fertilizer yale significantly, but Sangmibyeo's protein content grown by 0 kg/ha nitrogen treatment was lower than the rest of treatments, and it's protein content grown by 50, 70, 90 and 110 kg/ha nitrogen treatment was lower than 140 and 170 kg/ha. Bead rice yield of milled rice grown by lower nitrogen fertilizer rate, was lower than that grown by higher nitrogen fertilizer rate. In a conclusion gathering all above the results to produce high quality rice in Mid-mountainous area, the applicative nitrogen fertilizer rate was 70 kg per ha for Sangmibyeo, 110 kg/ha for Hwayongbyeo and 140 kg/ha for Junambyeo, in considering with head rice yield, palatability, amylose${\cdot}$protein content and productivity.

Physical geography is the discipline which deals with the relationship between man and natural environment. Therefore, it should be studied as the organized unity. In this paper I recognize the drainage basin as a framework outlining physical geography, describe the difference of inhabitant's life style due to the difference of natural environment in the drainage basin, and consider the meaning of drainage basin as a unit of life(and unit of regional geography). Munkyung is divided into three regions(intermontane basin region, middle mountainous region, marginal hilly region of the great basin) owing to the topographic characteristics. Subdivision in these regions is related closely to drainage network distribution, specially in intermontane basin region. And small regions have developed with the confluence point of $3{\sim}4$ order streams as the central figure. Intermontane basin region is the valley floor of Sinbuk-Soya-Kauun-Nongam stream located in the limestone region which is exposed according to Munkyung fault at its northern part. Small streams are affected strongly by the influence of the NNE-SSE or WNW-ESE tectolineament. Thus Kaeripryungro(鷄立嶺路), Saejaegil(새재길), Ewharyungro(伊火嶺路) and so on are constructed through the tectolineament. In the valley floors of small streams which flow into the intermontane basin, there are large floodplains. Floodplain in Sinbuk, Joryung, and Yangsan stream is used to paddy field or orchard, and in Nongam stream is used to paddy field or vegetable field. Hills are distributed largely in the periphery of intermontane basin. Limestone hills in Kauun and Masung basin are not continuous to the present low and flat floodplain, and most of those are used to forest land and field. On the other side. granite hills in Koyori are continuous to be used to the present floodplain, and they are used to residential area and field. In the middle mountainous region are there hilly mountains constructed in the geology of Palaeozoic Pyeongan System in northern area and Chosun System's Limestone Series in southern area, and banded gneiss and schist among Sobaeksan Gneiss Complex. In Palaeozoic Pyeongan System region are there relatively rugged mountains and ingrown meanders developed along tectolineaments. Chosun System's Limestone Series region builds up a geomorphic surface, develops various karst landforms. Mountainous area is used to field. On the other hand, especially in case of Hogye, valley bottom is wide, long, and discontinuous to slope, is used to paddy field dominantly. And schist region in Youngnam Block of Pre-Cambrian is rugged mountainous. Marginal hilly region of the great basin is hilly zone located in the margin of erosional basin(Bonghwa-Youngju-Yechon-Hamchang-Sangju). This region is lower geomorphic surface which is consisted of hills of $50{\sim}100$m height. Hills are used to field or orchard, and dissected gentle depression is used to paddy field.
