조명변화에 강인한 S-색상공간 기반의 차선색상 판별 방법 (Illumination-Robust Load Lane Color Recognition based on S-color Space)

  • 본 논문에서는 주행하는 차량에 탑재된 카메라에서 획득한 도로 영상에서 차선의 색상을 판별하는 방법을 제안하였다. 자동차의 자율주행기술에 있어 차선 정보는 차선이탈방지(ldws), 능동적 차선유지(lkas), 고속도로주행보조(hda) 등의 자율주행의 레벨(level)이 올라갈수록 중요하다. 특히 차선의 색상, 특히 흰색 및 황색 차선의 구별은 교통사고와 직접적인 관련이 있는 정보이기에 더욱 필요한 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 주행 차선 검출 결과를 기반으로 차선 및 도로의 관심 영역을 추출하고 각 영역의 컬러 정보를 2차원 S-색상 공간으로 투영하였다. S-공간에 투영된 색상의 특징 분포에서 개선된 mean-shift 알고리즘을 이용하여 특징의 무게중심을 구하였다. 좌, 우 차선과 도로영역의 색상특징의 중심점들 사이의 거리 정보를 이용하여 차선의 색상을 판별하였다. 다양한 조명환경에서 약 97%의 색상 인식 성공률을 보였다.

교통사고에 의한 외상 후 스트레스장애 환자의 피부 전기반응 : 예비 연구 (Electrodermal Responses in Patients with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder by Motor Vehicle Accidents ; a Pilot Study)

  • Objective : In the present study, we evaluated the differences between the skin electric conductance of patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and normal controls in order to determine the possibility of using skin electric conductance as a diagnostic measure. Method : The PTSD group included 14 subjects who were diagnosed with PTSD in St. Mary's Hospital after a motor vehicle accident, and the normal control group included 12 healthy subjects. The conductivity and capacitance of both groups were measured twice, and the data from each group was compared. Results : There was no significant difference in gender, but the patients in the PTSD group were significantly older than those in normal control group. The activity (conductivity) between the left head-left hand, right hand-right head, and right head-left head was significantly elevated in the PTSD group as compared with the normal control group. In addition, the reactivity (capacitance) between the right head-left head, left head-left hand, right hand-left hand, right hand-right foot, right foot-left foot, and left foot-left hand was significantly elevated in the PTSD group. Conclusion : In this study, the skin electric conductance of the patients with PTSD was significantly elevated in comparison with that of the healthy subjects. Although there were some limitations of this study, the results of this study suggested that skin electric conductance can be used to evaluate elevated psychophysiological responses in patients with PTSD. Future studies with more subjects and more structure are needed in order to confirm our results.

Our Experience with Surgically Treated Epidural Hematomas in Children

  • Objective: Traumatic epidural hematomas (EDHs) in children are a relatively unusual occurrence. The cause and outcome vary depending on period and reg ion of study. The aims of this analysis were to review the cause and outcome of pediatric EDHs nowadays and to discuss outcome-related variables in a large consecutive series of surgically treated EDH in children. Methods: This is a retrospective review of 29 patients with surgically treated EDHs between Jan 2000 and February 2010. Patients' medical records, computed tomographic (Cl) scans, and, if performed, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were reviewed to define variables associated with outcome. Variables included in the analysis were age, associated severe intracranial injury, abnormal pupillary response, hematoma thickness, severity of head injury (Glasgow Coma Scale score), parenchymal brain injury, and diffuse axonal injury. Results: The mean (SO) age of the patients was 109 months (0-185 months). Most of the injuries with EDHs occurred in traffic accident (14 cases, 48.2%) and followed by slip down in 6 cases and falls in 6 cases. There were one birth injury and one unknown cause. EDHs in traffic accidents occurred in pedestrians hit by a motor vehicle, 9 cases; motorbike and car accidents, 5 cases and bicycle accidents, 1 case. The locations of hematoma were almost same in both sides (left side in 15 cases). Temporal lobe is the most common site of hematomas (13 cases, 44%). The mean size of the EDHs was 18 mm (range, 5-40 mm). Heterogeneous hematomas in CT scans were 20 cases (67%). Two patients were referred with unilateral or bilateral dilated pupil(s). There was enlargement of EDH in 5 patients (17%). All of them were heterogeneous hematomas in CT scans. Except for 4 patients, all EDHs were associated with skull fracture(s) (87%). There was no case of patient with major organ injury. CT or MRI revealed brain contusion in 5 patients, and diffuse axonal injury in one patient The mortality was zero, and the outcomes were excellent in 26 and good in 2 patients. None of the tested variables were found to have a prognostic relevance. Conclusion: Regardless of the EDH size, the clinical status of the patients, the abnormal pupillary findings, or the cause of injury, the outcome and prognosis of the patients with EDH were excellent.

노인 보행자 교통사고원인 분석 및 대책 (Analysis of Elderly Pedestrian Traffic Accident Data and Suggestions)

  • 본 연구는 노인들의 보행 교통안전 환경을 개선하기 위한 정책제안을 목적으로 한다. 어린이 교통사고를 비롯하여 전체적으로 우리나라의 교통사고는 감소추세에 있지만 아직도 노인교통사고는 줄지 않고 있기 때문에 앞으로 급속히 진행되는 고령화 사회에 대응하기 위해서 노인 보행교통사고 저감대책 마련이 시급하다. 본 연구에서는 도로교통공단에서 제공한 최근 보행관련 교통사고를 유형별로 분석하여 노인 보행교통사고의 특성을 이해하고, 추가적으로 노인들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 보행안전을 위협하는 요인과 개선대책을 파악하였다. 연령대별 차대사람 교통사고 자료 분석결과 노인교통사고는 횡단보도나 교차로보다는 횡단보도 부근, 교차로 부근에서 사고가 많이 발생하고 있으며 보행자 과실 사고는 감소추세인 반면 운전자 과실로 인한 사고는 오히려 증가추세에 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 연령대별 교통사고 발생비율을 살펴보면 ;U'자형 분포를 보이고 있어 향후 교통안전개선지점의 우선순위는 12세 이하의 어린이와 65세 이상의 노인연령대의 교통사고 잦은 지점을 통합한 기준을 고려할 필요가 있다. 설문조사를 통하여 파악된 내용으로써는 노인들은 도로교통 안내 표지판을 식별하는데 어려움이 있으며 많은 노인들이 교통정보내용을 이해하지 못하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 노인들이 교통안전상 불안을 느끼는 때는 교차로 횡단 시와 이면도로 보행시로 나타났으며 교통안전을 가장 위협하는 대상은 보도를 주행하는 오토바이와 보도에 불법 주차된 차량이라고 응답하였다. 교통사고자료와 설문조사의 결과를 토대로 교차로 및 횡단보도의 시설개선이 시급하며, 운전자를 대상으로 노인 보행특성에 대한 교육의 필요, 노인을 위한 휴게시설의 확충, 보도의 자전거도로 공유 금지, 보행교통사고지도 작성 등이 대책으로 제시되었다.

서부 경남 지역 외상 환자의 임상적 양상에 대한 기술적 연구 (Descriptive Study of the Clinical Characteristics of Trauma Patients in the West Southern Kyungsangnam-do Area)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to gather descriptive data on trauma victims and to observe the general demographic characteristics and clinical profile of trauma victims who were admitted to a regional emergency medical center in the west southern Kyungsangnam-do area. Objects & Method: The study population consisted of 1,909 trauma patients who visited the emergency department of Gyeongsang National University Hospital between January 2003 and December 2004. The medical records were reviewed in a retrospective manner. Demographic data, the mechanism of injury, and clinical information were collected by three professional medical affairs recorders and an emergency physician and a Revised Trauma Score (RTS) and an Injury Severity Score (ISS) were calculated for each patient. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS software version 12.0. Results: Male patients outmembered female patients (M:F=2.54:1), and the mean age of the population was $40.5{\pm}21.4$ years. The mean RTS and ISS were $7.45{\pm}1.11$ and $8.40{\pm}7.44$, respectively. The seventies showed the highest ISS($10.94{\pm}8.66$). The most common mechanism of injury was motor-vehicle accidents (45.57%), followed by falls or slips(28.26%), and other blunt injuries(12.68%). The most frequent causes of death was cerebral herniation due to head injury(68.4%) and irreversible shock(26.3%). Conclusion: The present study clarified the demographic and clinical characteristics of trauma patients in the Kyungsangnam-do area. In the future, prospective clinical data collection is needed for a more sophisticated trauma study.

PLS구조방정식 모형을 활용한 교통문화지수의 영향관계 실증연구 (An Empirical Study of Influence Relationship on Traffic Culture Index(TCI) utilizing PLS-SEM(Structural Equation Modeling))

  • The traffic culture index is used as a major index in evaluating the traffic safety services of local governments and also serve as important data for the planning and implementation of traffic safety services. However, as the traffic culture index gradually became a standard for comparison among local governments, in part, certain cases arose which questioned the grounds for selecting variables for the index and the validity of the index in terms of its influential relationship between evaluation items. This study analyzed the index's influential relationship by utilizing a PLS structural equation model based on the evaluation results of the 2011 traffic culture index. A variable-linking model was created which recognized the relativity taking into account of the indirect effects between latent variables and this model was proven to be a model suitable in explaining the traffic culture index with a 97.8% explanation power. It was found that traffic safety(0.530), driving behavior(0.527), pedestrian behavior(0.187) and vulnerable road users(0.147), in such order, had an effect on the traffic culture index. It was also found that human casualties due to traffic accidents under "traffic safety" and traffic light compliance rate under "driving behavior" had an important effect. The study showed that motor vehicle share in illegal parking in school zones did not have a valid explanation power regarding "vulnerable road users".

정부의 정보 보안 대책 법제화의 사전 효과성 분석 방법 (An Ex Ante Evaluation Method for Assessing a Government Enforced Security Measure)

  • 기업의 정보 보안을 보장하기 위해, 많은 정부가 다양한 보안 관련 대책을 의무화해오고 있다. 하지만 이러한 보안 대책의 실행에 앞서, 이의 잠재적 효과성을 분석하는 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구는 안전벨트의 착용 법제화가 자동차 사고 사망자 감소에 미치는 효과에 대한 연구를 응용하여, 정부의 다양한 보안 대책의 사전 효과성 평가가 가능한 모형을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 또한, 인터넷 진흥원의 정보보호실태조사(기업편) 데이터를 개발된 모형에 적용하여 어떠한 보안대책의 법제화가 사회 및 산업 전반의 보안위험을 줄이는데 효과적인지 사전평가를 시행하였다. 그 결과 보안교육의 법제화가 다른 보안대책에 비해 효과적임을 확인하였다.

Characteristics of Magnetic Resonance Arthrography Findings in Traumatic Posterosuperior Rotator Cuff Tears

  • Background: Few studies have investigated magnetic resonance (MR) characteristics of traumatic posterosuperior rotator cuff tears involving the supraspinatus and infraspinatus. We hypothesized that traumatic rotator cuff tears may have MR characteristics distinguishable from those of non-traumatic tears. Methods: Preoperative MR arthrography and intraoperative tear size measurements were compared in 302 patients who underwent MR arthrography and subsequent arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs for traumatic (group T, 61 patients) or non-traumatic (group NT, 241 patients) tears. The inclusion criteria for both groups were posterosuperior full-thickness rotator cuff tear and age between 40 and 60 years. For group T, traumas were limited to accidental falls or slips, or sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents; injuries were associated with acute onset of pain followed by functional shoulder impairment; and time between injury and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was 6 weeks or less. Results: In group T, 72.1% of shoulders (44 patients) had tendon tears with blunt edges while 27.9% of shoulders (17 patients) had tears with tapering edges. In contrast, 21.2% of patients in group NT (51 patients) had blunt-edge tears, while 78.8% (190 patients) of tears had tapering edges. These results were statistically significant (p<0.001) and estimated odds ratio was 9.6. The size of tear did not vary significantly between groups. Conclusions: We found no exclusive MR characteristic to define traumatic tears. However, oblique coronal MRI of traumatic tears showed a significant tendency for abrupt and rough torn tendon edges and relatively consistent tendon thicknesses (without lateral tapering) compared to non-traumatic cuff tears.

Use of child safety seats during transportation of newborns

  • Purpose: Child safety seats (CSS) are critical for the protection of children, in case of motor vehicle accidents. Although the national legislation mandates that all newborns must be placed in an appropriately installed CSS during transportation, people often do not perceive the importance of CSS and do not use it as recommended. The purpose of this survey was to understand the use of CSS for the safe transport of newborns from hospital to home. Methods: We interviewed parents of newborn infants, using a structured questionnaire, at the time of their discharge from Cheil General Hospital & Women's Health Care Center, between May 2014 and July 2014. Results: A total of 403 participants were interviewed. The rate of CSS use was only 14.9%. Overall, 76.4% of the families interviewed were not aware about the recommendations on CSS use for newborns when travelling in a car. The provision of education on using CSS significantly influenced their rate of use. Parents who were educated about mounting the CSS in a car used it more as compared with others (25.7% vs. 12.2%) (P=0.002). Furthermore, if parents had heard about the importance or necessity of CSS, they used it more than others did (19.5% vs. 10.6%, P=0.032). Conclusion: Despite the legal regulation, most parents transport their newborn infants without a CSS while traveling from hospital to their home. The rate of CSS use was influenced by parental education and their knowledge about its necessity. Education programs for parents must be reinforced to increase the CSS use.

외상에 의한 심장 손상의 수술적 치료 (Surgical Management of Traumatic Cardiac Injury)

  • 외상에 의한 심장 손상은 드물게 발생하지만 진단 및 치료가 지연되었을 경우 치사율이 매우 높다. 이에 본원에서는 외상성 심장 손상 환자를 대상으로 후향적 연구를 진행하였다. 대상 및 방법: 1995년 3월부터 2002년 7월까지 본원 응급실을 통하여 내원한 외상성 심장 손상 환자 대상으로 하였다. 총 17명의 환자 중 흉기 등에 의한 자상이 5예, 둔상 중에서 교통사고로 인한 손상이 7예, 작업장 등에서 추락한 경우가 4예, 원인을 알 수 없는 경우가 있었다. 모든 예에 있어서 응급 수술을 진행하였고, 6예의 경우 심폐기를 이용한 수술을 진행하였다. 결과: 수술 후 4예의 사망이 있었다. 수술 후 모든 환자는 중환자실로 이송하였고 평균 중환자실 재원기간은 3.86$\pm$3.35일, 평균 총재원기간은 18.27$\pm$14.99일이었다. 응급실에 도착하여 수술의 진행까지 생명 징후가 비교적 안정적이었던 경우 사망한 예는 없었다. 결론: 수술 전의 환자의 상태는 환자의 예후에 직접적인 영향을 주는 중요한 인자이기 때문에 흉부외상 환자에게 있어서 심장손상 여부의 판단은 매우 중요하다.
