  • As humanoid robot technology advances, the use of robots for performance is increasing. As a result, studies are being conducted to increase the scope of use of robots in performances by making them natural like humans. Among them, the use of motion capture technology is often used, and there are environmental inconveniences in preparing for motion capture, such as the need for IMU sensors or markers attached to each part of the body and precise high-performance cameras. In addition, for robots used in performance technology, there is a problem that they have to respond in real time depending on the unexpected situation or the audience's response. To make up for the above mentioned problems, in this paper, we proposed a real-time motion capture system by using a number of RGB-D cameras and creating natural robot motion similar to human motion by using motion-captured data.

  • For a legged robot such as a humanoid, balancing its body during a given motion is natural but the most important problem. Recently, a motion given to a humanoid is more and more complicated, and thus the balancing problem becomes much more critical. This paper suggests a real-time motion generation algorithm that guarantees a humanoid to be balanced during the motion. A desired motion of each arm and/or leg is planned by the conventional motion planning method without considering the balancing problem. In order to balance a humanoid, all the given motions are embedded into the COG Jacobian. The COG Jacobian is modified to include the desired motions and, in consequence, dimension of the COG Jacobian is drastically reduced. With the motion-embedded COG Jacobian, balancing and performing a task is completed simultaneously, without changing any other parameters related to the control or planning. Validity and efficiency of the proposed motion-embedded COG Jacobian is simulated in the paper.

  • Consider a natural model for stochastic flow systems is Brownian motion, which is Brownian motion on the positive real line with constant drift and constant diffusion coefficient, modified by an impenetrable reflecting barrier at $x_{0}$. In this paper, we investigate the joint distribution functions and study on the distribution of the first-passage time. Also we find out the distribution of ${\mu}-RBMPx_{0}$.

  • Base-isolated nuclear power plant (BI-NPP) structures are founded on expanded basemat as a flexible floating nuclear island, are still lacking the recommendation of the consideration of incoherent motion effect. The effect of incoherent earthquake motion on the seismic response of BI-NPP structure has been investigated herein. The incoherency of the ground motions is applied by using an isotropic frequency-dependent spatial correlation function to perform the conditional simulation of the reference design spectrum compatible ground motion in time domain. Time history analysis of two structural models with 486 and 5 equivalent lead plug rubber bearing (LRB) base-isolators have been done under uniform excitation and multiple point excitation. two different cases have been considered: 1) Incoherent motion generated for soft soil and 2) Incoherent motion generated for hard rock soil. The results show that the incoherent motions reduce acceleration and the lateral displacement responses and the reduction is noticeable at soft soil site and higher frequencies.

  • The robot motion control in the industrial robot is generally executed by the teach pendant. But, it requires much teaching time and workload to the operators. This study suggests the use of the robot motion control method by the computed keyboard in the industrial robot instead of the teach pendant. TES/CCS(Teaching Expert System/Cartesian Coordinate System) and TES/WCS(Teaching Expert System/World Coordinate System) that have been proposed to improve the robot motion control are applied for this concept. This study is intended to improve the robot motion control in TES/CCS. Parameter limitation problems in getting the motion data on position and posture of the robot in macro motion control are solved by proposed geometric algorithm. This result demonstrates reduction of the average teaching task time to the teaching position.

  • This paper presents a fast and practical motion synthesis algorithm for massive number of quadruped animals. The algorithm constructs so called speed maps that contain a set of same style motions but different speed from a single cyclic motion by using IK(Inverse Kinematics) solver. Then, those speed maps are connected each other to form a motion graph. At run time, given a point trajectory that obtained from user specification or simulators, the algorithm retrieves proper speed motions from the graph, and modifies and stitches them together to create a long seamless motion in real time. Since our algorithm mainly targets on the massive quadruped animal motions, the motion graph create wide variety of different size of characters for each trajectory and automatically adjusted synthesized motions without causing artifact such as foot skating. The performance of algorithm is verified through several experiments

  • Regarding efficient development of computer graphic animations, lots of techniques for editing or transforming existing motion data have been developed. Basically, the motion transformation techniques follow optimization process. To make the animation be natural, almost all the techniques utilize kinematics and dynamics in constructing constraints for the optimization. Since the kinematic and dynamic structures of virtual characters to be animated are very complex, the most time-consuming part is known to the optimization process. In order to suggest some guide lines to engineers involved in the motion transformation, in this paper, we analyze the computational complexities for typical motion transformation in quantitative manner as well as the possibility for parallel computation.

  • This paper presents a new method for the motion detection of vehicles using hierarchical motion estimation and parallel processing. It captures the road image by using a CMOS sensor. It divides the captured image into small blocks and detects the motion of each block by using a block-matching method which is based on a hierarchical motion estimation and parallel processing for the real-time processing. The parallelism is achieved by using the pipeline and the data flow technique. The proposed method has been implemented with an embedded system. Experimental results show that the proposed method detects the motion of vehicles in real-time.

  • Demand of good seakeeping perfomace is increasing for sea going vessels such as cruisers, naval ships and container ships. Especillay roll motion is one of major concerns in evaluation of seakeeping performance due to its large resonace motion. Since large roll resonance motion is mainly arised from inherent small damping. use of additional mechnism to provide roll damping can significantly reduce roll motion. In this paper, a reliable performace evaluation method of fin stabilizer, which is very useful for stabilizing roll motion of mid and high speed vessls, is described. Model test and time domain simulation methods are adopted for performance evaluation in which real operating situation of fin stabilizer can be exactly modelled. Model test and simulation results show good correlations between model test and simulation results.
