소형 왕복동 압축기의 동적 거동 및 윤활특성 해석 (Analysis of the Dynamic Behavior and Lubrication Characteristics of a Small Reciprocating Compressor)

  • In this paper, a study on the dynamic behavior and lubrication characteristics of a reciprocating compression mechanism used in small refrigeration compressor is performed. In the problem formulation of the compressor dynamics, the viscous frictional force between piston and cylinder wall is considered in order to determine the coupled dynamic behaviors of piston and crankshaft. The solutions of the equations of motion of the reciprocating mechanism along with the time dependent Reynolds equations for the lubricating film between piston and cylinder wall and oil films of the journal bearings are obtained simultaneously. The hydrodynamic forces of journal bearings are calculated using finite bearing model and Gumbel boundary condition. And, a Newton-Raphson procedure was employed in solving the nonlinear equations of piston and crankshaft. The results explored the effects of design parameters on the stability and lubrication characteristics of the compression mechanism.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the vibration and damping characteristics of elastic-viscoelastic-elastic structures, theoretically and experimentally. The forth-order differential equations of motion are derived for the transverse vibration of three-layered plates with viscoelastic core layer. The equations consider both transverse displacements of the constraining layer and the bare base plate as variable and account for the effect of the transverse normal strain and the shear strain of viscoelastic core layer on the vibration of the plates. Finite difference analysis of the equations and experimental measurements are performed on the three-layered plates of completely free boundary condition. Comparative investigations on the theory and the results of direct frequency analysis of NASTRAN are carried out on the same structures.

회전체의 비틀림 고유진동 해석 (Analysis of Torsional Natural Viibration Characteristics of Rotors)

  • A method to estimate the torsional critical speed for practical rotors has been developed in this study. First, the rotor with a uniform shaft segment is modeled for undamped torsional motion analysis, while satisfying all the boundary conditions. This eventually generates governing equations for the torsional critical speeds of the system. The set of governing equations has the form of a sparse and banded matrix. The elements of banded matrix can be arranged in partitions, which correspond to the specific boundary of the rotor. This permits an automatic generation of the system matrix using a computer. In order to calculate the determinant generated by the simultaneous equations, which leads to the torsional critical speed, a recurring numerical algorithm for a (3*4) sub-matrix has been used. This numerical algorithm practically examines successive (3*4) sub-matrix, one at a time, instead of treating a huge matrix. The output of the program provides the mode shapes with continuous curves. The method has been implemented to three rotors given as examples : a simple rotor, Prohl's rotor, and Macmillan rotor.

관절의 수동탄성특성을 이용한 족부의 생체역학적 해석 (Biomechanical Analysis of the Human Foot by Using Passive Elastic Characteristics of Joints)

  • In this study we presented kinematic and kinetic data of foot joints using approximated equations and partial plantar pressure during gait. The maximum angular displacements of each tarsometatarsal joint were found to range from 4$^{\circ}$to 7$^{\circ}$ and the maximum moments were from 200Nㆍcm to 1500Nㆍcm. It was relatively wide distribution. Foot kinematic data calculated from the approximated equations, which were represented by the correlation between moment and angular displacement, and the data from motion analysis were similar. We found that the movements of foot joint were mainly decided by the passive characteristics of the joint when ground reaction force acts. The method of kinematic and kinetic analysis using approximated equations which is presented in this study is considered useful to describe the movements of foot joints in gait simulations.

  • This paper presents a systematic method for the dynamic analysis of flexible mechanical systems containing closed kinematic loops. Kinematics between pairs of contiguous flexible bodies is described with the joint coordinates and the deformation modal coordinates. The cut-joint constraint equations associated with the closed kinematic loops are derived, simply using the geometric conditions. The equations of motions are initially written in terms of the joint and modal coordinates using the velocity transformation technique. Lagrange multipliers associated with the cut-joint constraints for closed-loop systems are then eliminated systematically using the generalized coordinate partitioning method, resulting to a minimal set of equations of motion.

Vibration of nonlocal perforated nanobeams with general boundary conditions

  • This article presents a comprehensive model to investigate a free vibration and resonance frequencies of nanostructure perforated beam element as nano-resonator. Nano-scale size dependency of regular square perforated beam is considered by using nonlocal differential form of Eringen constitutive equation. Equivalent mass, inertia, bending and shear rigidities of perforated beam structure are developed. Kinematic displacement assumptions of both Timoshenko and Euler-Bernoulli are assumed to consider thick and thin beams, respectively. So, this model considers the effect of shear on natural frequencies of perforated nanobeams. Equations of motion for local and nonlocal elastic beam are derived. After that, analytical solutions of frequency equations are deduced as function of nonlocal and perforation parameters. The proposed model is validated and verified with previous works. Parametric studies are performed to illustrate the influence of a long-range atomic interaction, hole perforation size, number of rows of holes and boundary conditions on fundamental frequencies of perforated nanobeams. The proposed model is supportive in designing and production of nanobeam resonator used in nanoelectromechanical systems NEMS.

A NON-ITERATIVE RECONSTRUCTION METHOD FOR AN INVERSE PROBLEM MODELED BY A STOKES-BRINKMANN EQUATIONS

  • This work is concerned with a geometric inverse problem in fluid mechanics. The aim is to reconstruct an unknown obstacle immersed in a Newtonian and incompressible fluid flow from internal data. We assume that the fluid motion is governed by the Stokes-Brinkmann equations in the two dimensional case. We propose a simple and efficient reconstruction method based on the topological sensitivity concept. The geometric inverse problem is reformulated as a topology optimization one minimizing a least-square functional. The existence and stability of the optimization problem solution are discussed. A topological sensitivity analysis is derived with the help of a straightforward approach based on a penalization technique without using the classical truncation method. The theoretical results are exploited for building a non-iterative reconstruction algorithm. The unknown obstacle is reconstructed using a levelset curve of the topological gradient. The accuracy and the robustness of the proposed method are justified by some numerical examples.

  • Pogo is the instability resulting from the interaction between rocket structure and propulsion system of liquid propellant rocket. The coupling of structure and propulsion system can lead to severe problem in rocket. For the analysis of pogo, a time-invariant linearized mathematical model is developed for a selected flight time. Propulsion system is modeled using element representations for each components. The constitutive equation of propulsion system is a homogeneous second-order equation form in the Laplace domain. Rocket structure is modeled using FEM. From the results of modal analysis of structure, the behavior of structure can be represented. System equations for coupling structure and propulsion system are composed of all propulsion system equations and vehicle motion equations reacting on the vehicle by each component of propulsion system. The stability is obtained by the eigen solution of system matrix. The optimization of the design variables such as size, place of accumulator for suppressing pogo instability is carried out. This article of study can be used to determine the degree of stability, and guide the design of pogo suppression system.

Analysis of the two dimensional sheet debris flight equations: initial and final state

  • This work presents some analytical and numerical results of a dynamic analysis of the dimensionless 2-D sheet flight equations. Two empirical models for aerodynamic forces and moments are used and compared. Results show that the initial condition of rest is always unstable, and for long times three distinct flight regimes are possible, depending on the initial angle of attack, the Tachikawa number, Ta (in fact, the parameter chosen was its inverse, ${\Omega}$), and a mass ratio ${\Phi}$. The final orbits in the velocity space and their maximum kinetic energy are compared with a theoretical asymptotic state of the motion equations, and some design considerations are proposed.

TRACKING CONTROL DESIGN USING SLIDING MODE TECHNIQUES FOR SATELLITE FORMATION FLYING

  • Satellite formation flying is currently an active area of research in the aerospace engineering. So it has been researched by various authors. In this study, a tracking controller using sliding mode techniques was designed to control a satellite for the satellite formation flying. In general, Hill's equations are used to describe the relative motion of the follower satellite with respect to the leader satellite. However the modified Hill's equations considering the $J_2$ perturbation were used for the design of sliding mode controller. The extended Kalman filter was applied to estimate the state vector based on the measurements of relative distance and velocity between two satellites. The simulation results show that the follower satellite tracks the desired trajectory well by thruster operations based on the sliding mode control law.
