  • This paper report the result of the investigation on the properties of drying shrinkage for alkali-activated slag mortar in different relative humidity Commonly we know that drying shrinkage means lost more moisture but the mechanism of drying shrinkage of alkali activated slag mortar is not entirely due to the quantity of weight loss of water from mortar. pore size distribution and the calcium silicate hydrate gel characteristics have a critical influence on the magnitude of drying shringkage to alkali activated slag mortar. For this investigation, Ca(OH)2, Na2SiO4 were as alkali activator with 5 dosages(6%, 9%, 12%, 15%, 20%) and curing condition were three different relative humidity(35%, 65%, 95%) at $20{\pm}3^{\circ}C$

  • This study analysed compressive strength and the expansion characteristic to utilize a high volume mineral admixture mortar for a aerated mortar and a plastering mortar. In this experiment, the result shows that the compressive strength gain was satisfactory in case that WR was replaced within 5%. Also, the difference between WR1 and WR was insignificant. It shows that the drying shringkage properties at large was showed being satisfactory generally compared with Plain when WR was replaced, but the effect was not significant.

  • In general, the drying shrinkage of polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powders is much higher than that of unmodified mortar. The purpose of this study is to reduce the drying shringkage of polymer-modified mortars using a redispersible poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) (EVA) powder, which is widely used for the manufacture of prepackaged-type polymer-modified mortar products at present. Polymer-modified mortars using the redispersible EVA powder with powdered shrinkage-reducing agent were prepared with various polymer-cement ratios and shrinkage-reducing agent contents, and tested for drying shrinkage and strength. From the test results, the drying shrinkage of the redispersible EVA powder-modified mortars with a powdered shrinkage agent is remarkably reduced with increasing shrinkage-reducing agent content, and becomes approximately a half of that of the redispersible EVA powder-modified mortars with the same polymer-cement ratios and without the shrinkage-reducing agent at a shrinkage-reducing agent content of 6%.

  • Length change, hydration heat, setting time and compressive strength of OPC were measured by adding KCl and replacing limestone powder so as to examine the influence of limestone powder on hydration of the OPC contained much chloride. In general, the chloride modified cement was high in heat of hydration, short in its setting time, low in its fluidity and low in its strength at 28 days due to the sudden hydration in its initial stage. As a result of the experiment, it has been demonstrated that heat of hydration, became low as one replaced limestone powder to the chloride modified cement, and the fluidity and shrinkage rate of mortar decreased without change in setting time; furthermore, the compressive strength at 28 days was improved.
