응급구조학과 학생의 도덕지능과 내부공익신고 의도와의 관계 (A study on the moral intelligence and whistleblowing intent)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate ethical ability among paramedic students by analyzing their moral intelligence and whistle-blowing intention. Methods: Data from 117 paramedic students were collected from September 7 - 14, 2015. The questionnaire measured the level of moral intelligence (7 components, 41 items) and whistle-blowing intention (8 items) of paramedic students. Results: The mean score of moral intelligence was 3.07 (${\pm}0.28$) and that of whistle-blowing intention was 3.13 (${\pm}0.42$). Moral intelligence and whistle-blowing intention showed a significantly positive correlation with each other (r = .328, p <.001). Conclusion: It is desirable to introduce moral education contents and methods for paramedic students in order to enhance their moral intelligence and whistle-blowing intention.

The Effect of Occupational Moral Injury on Career Abandonment Intention Among Physicians in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic

  • Background: Since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, physicians have been the unsung heroes of the pandemic. However, many are about to give up the battlefield. This study investigated the effect of occupational moral injury on physicians' career abandonment intention, taking into account the possible mediating role of emotional exhaustion. Methods: Cross-sectional data collected from 201 physicians were analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS to determine the relationship among physicians' moral injuries, emotional exhaustion, and career abandonment intention. Results: The results indicated that occupational moral injury was positively related to emotional exhaustion and career abandonment intention. In addition, emotional exhaustion was found to play a mediating role in the relationship. Conclusion: To reduce physicians' intention to leave their career, physicians should be prepared for moral injury and psychological issues by offering psychological support and meeting their needs early at both the individual and organizational levels during and after the pandemic.

간호사가 지각하는 도덕적 고뇌와 이직의도 (Relationship between Moral Distress and Turnover Intention among Hospital Nurses)

  • 본 연구는 간호사가 지각한 도덕적 고뇌와 이직의도의 관계를 규명하기 위해 시도 되었다. 일 지역 간호사 281명을 대상으로 2011년 4월 20일부터 27일까지 설문조사를 실시하여 얻은 자료를 분석한 연구이다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 15.0 프로그램을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 간호사가 지각한 도덕적 고뇌와 이직의도 간의 관계는 양의 상관관계를 나타내고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 부정적 간호 영역을 제외한 부정적 치료, 환자의 관심 무시와 부정적 정서 영역은 모두 이직의도와 상관관계가 있었다. 대상자의 연령이 많고 재직기간이 길며, 교육수준이 높을수록 도덕적 고뇌가 높았으며, 특수병동과 내과계 근무 간호사가 산소아과계 간호사보다 도덕적 고뇌를 높이 지각하고 있었다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 이직의도와의 관련성을 고려하여 간호사의 도덕적 고뇌 경감을 위한 중재방안을 모색하여야 할 것이다.

  • 정서는 도덕적 판단, 의도, 행동으로 구성된 도덕적 의사결정에 관여한다. 본 연구는 온라인 실험 방법을 통하여 도덕적 정서인 죄책감과 수치심이 억제되었을 경우에 도덕적인 판단, 의도, 행동에 영향을 미친다는 것을 밝혔다. 도덕과 관련된 정서가 도덕적 의사결정 과정에 미치는 인과적 관계를 도출하기 위하여, 도덕과 관련된 정서(죄책감, 수치심)와 정서의 억제(억제, 대조집단)를 실험적으로 조작하였다. 실험 결과, 죄책감을 억제하는 것은 도덕적 판단과 의도에 관여되어있지만, 도덕적 행동은 관여하지 않는다는 것을 밝혔다. 다시 말해, 죄책감을 유지했던 피험자들은 억제했던 피험자들보다 지문에 묘사된 도덕적인 상황을 더 도덕적이라고 판단하였으며 도덕적 행동에 대한 의도가 높았다. 반면 수치심을 억제하는 것은 도덕적 판단과 의도에 관여하지 않았지만, 도덕적인 행동에 직접적으로 관여하였다. 수치심을 유지했던 피험자들은 억제했던 피험자들보다 실제 도덕적인 행동을 더 많이 하였다. 본 연구는 비연속적 정서이론을 적용하여 죄책감과 수치심이 억제되었을 경우, 도덕적 의사결정 단계에 미치는 메커니즘을 설명하였다.

유기농 쇠고기에 대한 신념, 주관적 규범, 도덕 관념과 태도가 소비 의도에 미치는 영향 평가 (Measuring the Effects of Belief, Subjective Norm, Moral Feeling and Attitude on Intention to Consume Organic Beef)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the causal relationships among belief, subjective norm, moral feeling, attitude, and the intention to consume organic beef. A total of 326 questionnaires were completed by adult in Jeonnam area. Structural equation modeling was used to measure the causal relationships among the constructs. The structural analysis results indicated an excellent model-data fit. The covariance effects of belief and subjective norm, and belief and moral feeling were statistically significant. The effects of belief and moral feeling on attitude and intention to consume were also statistically significant. As expected, attitude had significant effects on intention to consume. Moreover, attitude played a mediating roles in the relationship between belief and intention to consume. Finally, based on structural analysis, a model was proposed for the interrelations among belief, subjective norm and moral feeling towards organic food, attitude and intention to consume. It should be noted that the original organic food consumption model was modified, and should preferably be validated by future research. Other constructs, such as perceived behavior control and consumption, may be incorporated to form models that consist of new antecedent and consequence pairs.

중환자실 간호사의 이직의도 예측요인 (Predictive Factors of Turnover Intention among Intensive Care Unit Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand morality identity, occupational stress and authentic leadership and identify factors contributing to turnover intention among intensive care unit (ICU) nurses. Methods: Data were collected from 230 nurses at the university hospitals in Daegu, Ulsan and Busan between February 15 and March 23, 2017. Instruments measuring turnover intention, moral identity, occupational stress, and authentic leadership were utilized. Statistical analysis included t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlational analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: A total of 207 nurses in ICU participated in this study. The power of explanation with age and dependents on turnover intention was 4.1%. With inclusion of occupational stress, moral identity, and authentic leadership factors put into the model, further 20.4% was explained. The explanatory power of the turnover intention in the final model was 23.6% (F=11.63 p<.001), and occupational stress was the key factor explaining turnover intention (${\beta}=.28$, p<.001). Predictive factors contributing to turnover intention were age, occupational stress, moral identity, and authentic leadership in final model. Conclusion: These findings demonstrated occupational stress, moral identity and authentic leadership as critical factors contributing turnover intention of ICU nurses. It is necessary to promote nursing manager's authentic leadership, and to encourage moral identity in ICU nurses. In addition, providing intervention programs to reduce occupational stress for ICU nurses is necessary.

A Moral-Belief Model for Deterring Non-Work-Related Computing in Organizations

  • Negative consequences incurred from employees' non-work-related computing (NWRC) have been one of the security-related issues in information intensive organizations. While most studies have focused on the factors that motivate employees to engage in NWRC, this study examines the mediating effect of moral beliefs on the relationship between sanctions and NWRC using a moral beliefs-based model. The research model posits that the formal (i.e., punishment severity and detection certainty) and informal sanctions (subjective norms and descriptive norms) enhance employees' moral beliefs against NWRC intention. From a cross-sectional scenario-based survey involving 176 employees working at banks in Mongolia, our results indicate that moral beliefs fully mediate the relationship between detection certainty/subjective norms and NWRC intention and act as a partial mediator in the relationship between descriptive norms and NWRC. The findings from this study present empirical evidence that both informal and formal sanctions could be an effective deterrent for NWRC intention through employees' moral beliefs.

도덕적 정체성이 업사이클 패션제품 태도와 구매의도에 미치는 영향 - 구매경험자와 비경험자의 비교 - (Effect of moral identity on attitude toward and purchase intention of upcycled fashion products - Comparison of purchasers and non-purchasers -)

  • This study explores the effect of moral identity on attitude toward and purchase intention of upcycled fashion products by comparing purchasers and non-purchasers. Data from 127 purchasers and 307 non-purchasers collected through a survey was analyzed using descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, model invariance check, and multiple-group comparison tests using Amos 23.0. Results indicate consumers with purchase experiences of upcycled fashion products showed a higher level of moral identity (internalization and symbolization), positive attitude toward upcycled fashion products, and purchase intention than did consumers with no purchase experience. In model tests, internalization affected attitude toward purchasing upcycled fashion products, whereas symbolization affected purchase intention, regardless of purchase experience. The effect of symbolization on purchase intention was consistent with prior studies focusing on charity behaviors that are highly visible to others. These findings demonstrate that fashion products are visible and symbolic, so it should be carefully considered in ethical consumption studies. From these results, researchers may obtain insights on the process of how consumers apply moral identity to their purchase intention regarding upcycled fashion products. Likewise, marketers may enhance satisfaction of consumers with a high level of symbolization by putting special tags and logos that clearly highlight the products' upcycled nature.

간호사의 도덕적 고뇌 정도에 대한 이직의도의 차이 (Differences of Turnover Intention by Moral Distress of Nurses)

  • 본 연구는 일 대학병원 간호사의 도덕적 고뇌 정도에 따른 이직의도 차이를 파악하기 위한 조사연구이다. 연구대상은 G시에 소재한 일 대학병원 간호사 129명이었고, 자료수집은 2014년 7월1일부터 8월8일까지 도덕적 고뇌와 이직의도에 대해 구조화된 설문지를 사용하여 이루어졌다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 20.0 프로그램을 사용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구결과, 도덕적 고뇌는 3.18점이었고, 이직의도는 3.20점이었다. 도덕적 고뇌가 높은 간호사 그룹이 낮은 간호사 그룹에 비해 이직의도가 높았다(t = -2.11, p = .037). 영역별로는 인지적 영역(t = -3.29, p = .001)과 정서적 영역(t = -3.93, p < .001)의 고뇌가 높은 그룹이 낮은 그룹보다 이직의도가 높게 나타났고, 상황적 영역에서는 두 그룹 간 차이가 없었다(t= -1.66, p = .-099). 이 결과는 간호사가 단순히 도덕적 고뇌가 높은 상황을 만날 때 이직을 고려하기 보다는, 그러한 상황에서 간호사가 시간 부족, 감독자의 반대 및 여러 제도와 환경에 대한 부정적 인지와 정서로 인해 고뇌가 증가되어 이직의도가 증가함을 의미한다. 그러므로, 간호 실무에서 인지적 및 정서적 영역의 도덕적 고뇌 정도를 줄이기 위해 제도 개선, 윤리교육 프로그램 강화 및 도덕적 고뇌 관리 프로그램을 개발하여 간호사에게 적용하는 것이 필요하다.

스마트폰 애플리케이션 불법복제에 대한 소비자의 도덕적 판단과 불법복제의도 -전북지역 대학생을 중심으로 한 사례분석 (Moral Judgment and Intention to Make Illegal Copies of Smart Phone Applications)

  • Although consumer ethical behavior related with illegal copies of digital software has been considered to be an important issue, not many studies have attempted to examine the issue. Firstly, this study attemped to explain the moral judgment and intention to make illegal copies of smart phone applications for college students. Secondly, psychological factors such as moral intensity and perceived risk related to making illegal copies were tested to be significantly different in individual characteristics such as experience of ethical education and past experience of making illegal copies of software, sex, age and household income. Thirdly, the effect of related factors such as psychological factors and individual characteristics was estimated to significantly influence moral judgment and intention to make illegal copies. Two step method(using LIMDEP program) was applied to estimate the model as a structural equation model. According to the results of this study, magnitude of consequences, financial risk and performance risk were found to be significantly different in income groups(less than middle class vs more than middle class). Prosecution risk was found to be significantly different in gender groups(female vs male). In addition, social consensus, financial risk, performance risk and prosecution risk were found to be significantly different in ethical education groups(experience vs no experience). Furthermore, moral judgment for making illegal copies of smart phone applications was found to be significantly influenced by income, ethical education, magnitude of consequences, temporal immediacy and social consensus. And intention to make illegal copies of smart phone applications was found to be significantly influenced by moral judgment, age, financial risk, performance risk and prosecution risk.
