  • This study was attemted to grasp the factors affecting the clinical decision-making ability of nurse. Data were collected from 156 nurse working in hospital in G-do. Analysis was done using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Multiple regression with IBM SPSS WIN/25.0. The most influential factor on the subjects' clinical decision-making ability was nursing Research 'very interest', critical thinking tendency, 'master/doctor', clinical experience 'more than 20 years and 1 month', moral behavior, nursing research 'important', 'single', clinical work experience '5 years, 1 month-10 years', department work experience '3 years 1 month-5 years'. The explanatory power was 51.4%. It was significant in that it was confirmed that interest and importance, moral behavior, academic background, and career are variables that influence clinical decision-making ability. The results of this study can be utilized as basic data for the development of intervention plans and programs that can increase clinical decision-making ability in the context of an ethical dilemma. In addition, developing and verifying educational programs that can increase clinical decision-making abilities in ethical dilemmas is needed.

  • In the philosophy of Louis Labelle, the subject of "good and evil", which is rarely discussed in modern philosophy, emerges as a very important concept. In his reasoning, the notion of evil starts from a passive stipulation of the Scholastic philosophy of "the lack of being", but he defined the evil, which actually exists in the world with more positive sense as a willing force destroying "life and values". In his reasoning that defines "the presence of evil" as "le scandale du monde", all humans have the possibility of evil as an attitude of will, and the presence of evil in the world and in human society is inevitable. On the other hand, because the outcome of evil appears as physical and mental "pain", the human's attitude toward pain, which attempts to deny suffering, induces a moral will to overcome this evil. The moral anguish, which is the "internal suffering" that we have in front of the presence of evil, makes us conscious of becoming a "moral being", and people become self-satisfied here. Although painful, self-satisfaction and happiness about becoming a moral being is the only occasion and motive for man to overcome this by opposing the presence of evil. In other words, Lavelle's thoughts for good and evil are based on "moral psychologism", and the "coherence of psychological horizons and ethical horizons" between rejection of suffering and moral agony enables "ethical optimism" that man constantly overcomes evil and produces good. This is clearly an advanced modern application of scholasticism on the concept of evil.

  • The purpose of this study is to find relationships between the moral distress of nursing college students and career maturity, and between the moral distress of them and career preparation behavior by using a descriptive correlation methodology. Analysis is done using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Multiple regression with IBM SPSS WIN/22.0. According to the general characteristics, the there is a significant difference in the subjects with an outgoing personality (F=-2.82, p=.001), who suffered from moral distress at an older age (F=.4.85, p=.029). There is a significant difference in career maturity among subjects with an extroverted personality (F=3.63, p=.001). The average score of the subjects' moral distress is 72.51±53.75, and by sub-area, futile care was the highest with 23.36±19.04, and the lowest with 7.61±8.56 in physician practice. The average of career maturity was 3.74(±.56), and by sub-area, career attitude was the highest with 3.98±.54, and the lowest with 3.61±.43 in professionalism. The average of career preparation behavior was 2.67(±.60). In this study, it was confirmed that the moral stress of nursing students is a factor affecting career maturity (r=-.510, p=.000) and career preparation behavior (r=-.353, p=.001). Therefore, It can be seen that it is necessary to develop an intervention program that can positively enhance the career maturity and career preparation behavior of nursing students through intervention for the moral anguish experienced by nursing students.

  • Happiness is no more than a pleasant mental state that we can feel everyday. How to seek happiness is the key subject of positive psychology, for which we also need a clear neural system so that our emotional life can be accomplished. This is an issue in people with neural problems (such as psychopathy or hypochondria) as they can not achieve such emotional clarity. In this sense neuroscience is thought of as a new approach that can replace the traditional rational insight which has been aimed at completing a virtual life. But there is also a limit: we can not reach a virtual life with only a confirmation of our transitive state. A practice of virtue which our moral ethos aims at, has been a problem of rational insight. Here is a gap between our emotional life and our rational insight in which an anguish of psychology results. So a task we should combine organically is band between neuroscientific fact and ethical practice; a new addition to psychology. But unfortunately psychology can not solve this problem by itself, for it is a meta-question arising beyond psychology. Thus an explication of this meta-question is, I believe, a new theory of moral philosophy; one that can only be explored using an interdisciplinary approach.

  • Since he was an exile, Henry James himself was well aware of agonies as an outsider in either Europe or America. Such an anguish is deftly depicted in the character of Felix Young with James's unique ironic tone. Unlike James, however, Felix is neither affluent nor distinguished as an artist. Nor is he supported by any patron. Furthermore, at first, he doesn't seem to survive the strict joyless environment in New England, but he possesses his own survival value. His unique esthetic value and his beautiful smile enable him to win Gertrude's heart. His adroit balance between pleasure-seeker and respect for American serious culture without hostility ultimately ends up with his marrying Gertrude. His arrival in Boston might pose a threat as Mr. Wentworth fears. Actually he subverts the traditional idea of an artist. He is armed with amiability and frankness, which are incongruous with a stereotypical idea of an artist: a willful, freakish, and self-righteous person. Felix here suggests to us that a new kind of modern art be possible. Gertrude is also a new woman who opposes to staying put under the patriarchal society. She is always wavering in and out of the house, searching for opportunities to quench her curiosity to see the world by breaking the bond of New England. Her ceaseless quest for independent values results in fortuitous encounter with a new species of artist Felix. Unlike Henry James's other novels, in which male characters assume a role of sophisticated "fortune-hunter," the union of Felix and Gertrude in The Europeans represents the compromise between two different cultures. According to Nietzsche, the birth of superman is possible by the union of Athens and Jerusalem. In other words, the matrimony of Felix and Gertrude means the commingling of his liberal arts and Gertrude's moral seriousness might contribute to the birth of the new culture.

  • This study aimed at learning the values and meanings of the letters carved on the rocks all over Mt. Sangdu located at the boundary between Kimje-si and Jeongeup-si of Jeollabuk-do by grasping the current state of them, investigating the patterns and contents of them, and understanding the spatial and landscape properties of the region where the rocks are scattered. The results of this study are as follows; The name of Mt. Sangdu came from the mountain with the same name located in India where Buddha were seeking the truth, and means auspicious. With the recognition of ancient maps and books, various propitious spots also made the landscape symbols of Mt. Sangdu solidify. Whoam, Chaangsuk-Kim, Weolgye Young-Cho Song and the members of Cheonggye Society like Dongcho Seok-Gon Kim led the creation of the rocks, and the 41 letter-carved rocks all over four water systems were found out and all of them were carved with Chinese characters. The letters were usually carved on flat and broad rocks, and they mainly had the shape of a small waterfall and a wide waterfall of under 1 meter height. 25(60.9%) of the carved letters were about moral training, and it seemed that they wanted to protect their pride under the shackle of the Japanese colonization over Korea. The styles of handwriting are Hangseo and Jeonseo except for names, and show various and complex styles. The mix composition of the carved letters of 'Yusubulbu(流水不腐)' of Choseo and the rocks of Takjok(濯足) is extraordinary, and the letters carved as the shape of Nakkwan(落款) have artistic value and degree of finishing. It seemed that intellectuals during the Japanese colonization over Korea in the 1930s considered Mt. Sangduasa highly valuable region because they expressed their hope and wish for the new world on the rocks. The letters on the rocks of Mt. Sangdu are invaluable cultural landscaping elements for the improvement of landscaping symbolism of Mt. Sangdu because of colliding values and spirits of the time of 'the anguish and pain of intellectuals' and 'the status of living joyfully outside of the mundane world.'
