Fluorine-18 used in PET/CT scans is a radioactive isotope that emits positrons, and high energy annihilation gamma rays and beta rays cause exposure to radiation workers. In this study, as part of a plan to reduce the exposure dose of radiation workers working in the Department of Nuclear Medicine, the cause of the low shielding efficiency of Apron for F-18 was identified, and the effectiveness of the Apron double-shielded with acrylic was evaluated. L-Block, Apron+acrylic, Apron, Acrylic+Apron, and Acrylic five shields are used to measure the dose, and the tendencies were compared by performing a Monte Carlo simulation. As a result, it was found that the shielding rate of Apron double shielded with acrylic was about 4 to 8% higher than that of Apron single shielded. To the extent that it does not significantly affect the user's activity, double-shielded personal protective clothing with an appropriate acrylic thickness could help reduce radiation workers' exposure.
The detector performance is important role in acquiring the gamma rays from patients. Among parameters of detector performances, there is density, which relates to respond to gamma rays. Therefore, we confirm the detection efficiency according to various detector materials based on the density parameter using GATE (geant4 application for emission tomography) simulation tool. The NaI (density: 3.67 g/cm3), CZT (Cadimium Zinc Telluride) (density: 5.80 g/cm3), CdTe (Cadmium Telluride) (5.85 g/cm3), and GAGG (Gadoinium Aluminum Gallium Garnet) (density g/cm3) were used as detector materials. In addition, the point source and quadrant bar phantom, which is modeled for 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mm thicknesses, were modeled to confirm the quatitative analysis using sensitivity (cps/MBq) and the full width at half maximum (FWHM, mm) at the 2.0 mm bar thickness containing visual evaluation. Based on the results, the sensitivity for NaI, CZT, CdTe, and GAGG detector materials were 0.12, 0.15, 0.16, and 0.18 cps/MBq. In addition, the FWHM for quadrant bar phantom in the 2.0 mm bar thickness is 3.72, 3.69, 3.70, and 3.73 mm for NaI, CZT, CdTe, and GAGG materials, respectively. Compared with performance of detector materials according to density, the high density can improve detection efficiency in terms of sensitivity and mean count. Among these detector materials, the GAGG material is efficient for detection of gamma rays.
Radiation therapy is one of the beneficial choices in the treatment of cancer. This is a comparison of TPS(Treatment Planning System) and GEANT4-DICOM, which should be preceded by the best radiation therapy. A treatment plan for prostate cancer was established with Eclipse and the point doses 366.1 cGy, 189.1 cGy, 213.4 cGy, 127 cGy, 105.7 cGy of any five prostate, bladder, rectum, right femoral head and left femoral head were identified. GEANT4-DICOM simulation showed that the results of Eclipse and ${\pm}2%$ dose error were confirmed. The monthly X-ray output agreement management value recommended by TG-142 is ${\pm}2%$, which means that the experimental results can be meaningful. In conclusion, GEANT4-DICOM is an infinite way to obtain more extended dose information once the time constraints are overcome in the simulation.
Neutrons are generated by the nuclear reaction, which is absorbed into the concrete wall and causes the activation during cyclotron operation. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of neutron activation and radiative concrete on concrete type. This experiment used Monte Carlo simulation and RESRAD model. The results of the experiment showed that the higher the content of Fe in concrete, the greater the shielding rate. The effect of $^{56}Fe(n,\;2np)^{54}Mn$ reaction on workers is also increased. However, radioactive nuclides have low activity and have very low impact on workers. Radioactive concrete should be treated as general wastes with less than its self-disposal tolerance level, and it should be recycled to the surface such as road repair rather than landfill to minimize the effect of $^{14}C$.
Digital radiography imaging systems can also help diagnose lesions in patients, but if x-rays that enter the human body cause scatter x-ray due to interaction with substances, they affect the signal and noise characteristics of digital x-ray images. To regard the human body as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and observe the properties of scattered x-ray generated from PMMA on x-ray images, we analyze signal and noise in the spatial domain as well as noise-power spectrum (NPS), and detective quantum efficiency (DQE) at zero frequency. As PMMA thickness increased, signals decreased, the noise increased, and NPS degradation was identified in overall spatial frequencies. Based on these characteristics, zero-frequency performance was also shown to be degraded. Comparative analysis with Monte-carlo simulations will need to be made to analyze the zero-frequency performance by scattered x-ray of indirect conversion-type x-ray detectors more quantitatively.

In this paper, an antenna selection scheme is proposed in massive multi-user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) systems. The proposed antenna selection scheme can achieve almost the same performance as a conventional scheme while significantly reducing the overhead of feedback by using deep reinforcement learning (DRL). Each user compares the channel gains of massive antennas in base station (BS) to the L-largest channel gain, converts them to one-bit binary numbers, and feed them back to BS. Thus, the feedback overhead can be significantly reduced. In the proposed scheme, DRL is adopted to prevent the performance loss that might be caused by the reduced feedback information. We carried out extensive Monte-Carlo simulations to analyze the performance of the proposed scheme and it was shown that the proposed scheme can achieve almost the same average sum-rates as a conventional scheme that is almost optimal.

In this paper, we check the possibility of continuous tracking when photographing unknown space objects in a short period of time in an optical observation system on the ground. Simulated observation data were generated for target limited to low-orbit areas. The performance index of the prediction error was set in consideration of the property of targets. Kalman Filter was applied to predict the next location of the target. A constant velocity/acceleration dynamic model was applied to the two axes of the azimuth/elevation of the unknown space object respectively. As a result of performing the Monte Carlo simulation, the maximum error ratio of the maximum nonlinear section was less than 2%, which could be determined to ensure continuous tracking. The CA model had little change in the prediction error value for each case, making it more suitable for tracking unknown space objects. This analysis could provide a foundation for determining the orbit of unknown space objects using optical observation.
This study investigated the damage range of the debris flow to predict the amount of collapsed soil in a landslide event. The height of the collapsed slope and the distance traveled by the collapsed soil were used to predict the total trajectory distance using a random walk model. Debris flow trajectory probabilities were calculated through 10,000 Monte Carlo simulations and were used to calculate the damage range as measured from the landslide scar to its toe. Compiled information on debris flows that occurred in the Cheonwangbong area of Mt. Jirisan was used to test the accuracy of the proposed random walk model in estimating the damage range of debris flow. Results of the comparison reveal that the proposed model shows reasonable accuracy in estimating the damage range of debris flow and that using 10 m × 10 m cells allows the damage range to be reproduced with satisfactory precision.

In a sensitivity analysis, an uncertainty importance measure is often used to assess how much uncertainty of an output is attributable to the uncertainty of an input, and thus, to identify those inputs whose uncertainties need to be reduced to effectively reduce the uncertainty of output. A function is called monotonic if the output is either increasing or decreasing with respect to any of the inputs. In this paper, for a monotonic function, we propose a method for evaluating the measure which assesses the expected percentage reduction in the variance of output due to ascertaining the value of input. The proposed method can be applied to the case that the output is expressed as linear and nonlinear monotonic functions of inputs, and that the input follows symmetric and asymmetric distributions. In addition, the proposed method provides a stable uncertainty importance of each input by discretizing the distribution of input to the discrete distribution. However, the proposed method is computationally demanding since it is based on Monte Carlo simulation.
An efficient and accurate hybrid reliability analysis method is proposed in this paper to quantify the risk of an axially loaded single pile considering pile-soil interaction behavior and uncertainties in various design variables. The proposed method intelligently integrates the concepts of the response surface method, the finite difference method, the first-order reliability method, and the iterative linear interpolation scheme. The load transfer method is incorporated into the finite difference method for the deterministic analysis of a single pile-soil system. The uncertainties associated with load conditions, material and section properties of a pile and soil properties are explicitly considered. The risk corresponding to both serviceability limit state and strength limit state of the pile and soil is estimated. Applicability, accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method in the safety assessment of a realistic pile-soil system subjected to axial loads are verified by comparing it with the results of the Monte Carlo simulation technique.
