A Study on the Development of a Wide-Area Monitoring and Control System for Tug/barges

  • The traffic of tug/barges which are carrying construction materials, large plants for harbor development, or offshore structures has recently increased in the coast of Korea. The west and south coast of Korea are always congested due to a lot of islands and traffic concentration. Specially tug/barges have higher probability of marine accidents due to their bad maneuverability than others. Considering the operational circumstance and maneuverability, this study was to develop a wide-area monitoring and control system for tug/barges in the coastal area of Korea. The system was made in the form of three program modules i.e. navigation analysis program module, monitoring and control program module, database module. And seven functions were programmed to monitor and control the tug/barges efficiently. These are ship information search, tug/barge information and track management, designated area and safe navigation zone management, fairway management, accident data management, warning of danger, safety information management.

  • 산업현장에서 자동화시스템은 PLC(Program Logic Control)를 사용하여 시스템을 제어하고, 감지기에서 전달되는 정보로 시스템의 상태를 계측하고 생산성 향상을 위해 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 진단 모니터링시스템은 릴레이모듈, 원칩프로세서모듈 그리고 컴퓨터 모니터링시스템으로 구성된다. 보조계전기의 고장을 실시간으로 파악하여 고장 난 시스템을 수리하고, 정상 가동에 소요되는 시간을 최소화하여 생산성을 향상시키고자 한다.

  • 어선의 안전을 실시간으로 모니터링하고 위험요소가 발생했을 경우에 사용자에게 이를 경보하고 통보해줄 수 있는 장치에 대한 필요성이 크게 대두되고 있다. 위험요소를 감지하는 다기능 센서를 사용하기 위해서 임베디드 모듈에서는 Device driver와 Application program을 구현해야 하는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 Device driver와 Application program의 구현 없이 다기능 센서의 입출력 데이터를 관리 및 처리하기 위해서 PIC18F를 이용하여 센서부의 하드웨어 설계 및 제어프로그램 구현을 하였다. 센서의 동작에 따라 데이터를 출력하는 동작 확인을 통하여 성능검증을 하였다.

Ubiquitous-Based Mobile Control and Monitoring of CNC Machines for Development of u-Machine

  • This study was an attempt to control and monitor Computerized Numerical Controller (CNC) machines anywhere and anytime for the development of a ubiquitous machine (u-machine). With a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) phone, the machine status and machining data of CNC machines can be monitored in wired and wireless environments, including the environments of IMT2000 and Wireless LAN. Moreover, CNC machines can be controlled anywhere and anytime. The concept of the anywhere-anytime controlling and monitoring of a manufacturing system was implemented in this study for the purpose of u-manufacturing and u-machines. In this concept, the communication between the CNC controller and the PDA phone was successfully performed anywhere and anytime for the real-time monitoring and control of CNC machines. In addition, the interface between the CNC controller and the developed application module was implemented by Object linking and embedding for Process Control (OPC) and shared CNC memory. For communication, the design of a server contents module within the target CNC was based on a TCP/IP. Furthermore, the client contents module within the PDA phone was designed with the aid of embedded c++ programming for mobile communication. For the interface, the monitoring data, such as the machine status, the machine running state, the name of the Numerical Control (NC) program, the alarm and the position of the stage axes, were acquired in real time from real machines with the aid of the OPC method and by sharing the CNC memory. The control data, such as the start, hold, emergency stop, reserved start and reserved stop, were also applied to the CNC domain of the real machine. CNC machines can therefore be controlled and monitored in real time, anywhere and anytime. Moreover, prompt notification from CNC machines to mobile phones, including cellular phones and PDA phones, can be automatically realized in emergencies.

  • In this paper we propose a framework of an open architectured manufacturing system base on CORBA middleware. The manufacturing system consists of four configurable software modules 9mchine control module, database module, monitoring module, and operation module). Each module is distributed through the network and integrated with CORBA middleware technology. CORBA Characteristics including independence from programming languages, computing platforms and networking protocols makes us to easily develop new applications and to effectively integrate new module into existing distributed systems. The CORBA program used in this study is The ACE ORB (TAO) developed by the laboratory in Washington University.

유조선의 상태평가계획 검사를 위한 이동로봇의 개발 (Development of Mobile Robot for CAS inspection of Oil Tanker)

  • It is dangerous that an inspector overhauls defects and condition of the inner parts of an oil tanker because of many harmful gases, complex structures, and etc. However, these inspections are necessary to many oil tankers over old years. In this study, we proposed the design of mobile robot for inspection of CAS in oil tanker. The developed CAS inspection mobile robot has four modules, a measurement module of oil tanker's thickness, a corrosion inspection module, a climbing module of the surface on a wall, and a monitoring module. In order to get over at a check position, the driving control algorithm was developed. Magnetic wheels are used to move on the surface of a wall. This study constructed a communication network and the monitoring program to operate the developed mobile robot from remote sites. In order to evaluate the inspection ability, the experiments about performance of CAS inspection using the developed mobile robot have been carried out.

퍼지 로직 시스템을 이용한 항공기 가스터빈 엔진 오류 검출에 대한 연구 (Fault Diagnosis in Gas Turbine Engine Using Fuzzy Inference Logic)

  • A fuzzy inference logic system is proposed for gas turbine engine fault isolation. The gas path measurements used for fault isolation are exhaust gas temperature, low and high rotor speed, and fuel flow. The fuzzy inference logic uses rules developed from a model of performance influence coefficients to isolate engine faults while accounting for uncertainty in gas path measurements. Inputs to the fuzzy inference logic system are measurement deviations of gas path parameters which are transferred directly from the ECM(Engine Control Monitoring) program and outputs are engine module faults. The proposed fuzzy inference logic system is tested using simulated data developed from the ECM trend plot reports and the results show that the proposed fuzzy inference logic system isolates module faults with high accuracy rate in the environment of high level of uncertainty.

Jini Surrogate에 기반한 광대역 PLC 홈 제어기 개발 (Development of the Jini Surrogate-based Broadband PLC Home Controller)

  • The home network system guarantees families a safe, economical, socially integrated and healthy life by using information appliances. And it provides a family with domestic safety, control of instruments, controllable energy and health monitoring by connecting to home appliances. This study designs the broadband PLC home controller using broadband PLC(Power Line Communication) technology which can save much cost at a network infrastructure by using the existing power line at home. The broadband PLC home controller consists of the broadband PLC module, the embedded main controller module and I/O module. The broadband PLC home controller can control various domestic appliances such as an auto door-lock, a boiler, an oven, etc., because it has various I/O specifications. In this study, selected home network middleware for the broadband PLC home controller is Jini surrogate using Jini technology designed by means of access to easily a home network system without a limitation of the devices. And a client application program is supported java servlet program to manage and monitor the broadband PLC home controller via web browser of a PC or a PDA, etc. Finally, for an application, we implemented and tested a home security system using one broadband PLC home controller.

사용후핵연료봉 인출장치의 원격감시를 위한 실시간 3차원 그래픽 시뮬레이션 (Real-time 3D Graphic Simulation of the Spent Fuel Rod Extracting Machine for Remote Monitoring)

  • The spent fuel rod extracting machine is automatically operated in high radioactive environment, so high reliability of operation is required. In this paper, to enhance the reliability of this machine by providing a close monitoring capability. a real time graphic simulation method is suggested. This method utilizes conventional IGRIP (Interactive Graphics Robot Instruction Program) 3D graphic simulation tool to visualize and simulate the 3D graphic model of this machine. Also, the dedicated protocol is defined for transmission of the operational data of the machine. The real time graphic simulation is realized by developing the socket module between a graphic workstation and a machine control computer through the TCP/IP network and by dividing the 3D graphic simulation GSL(Graphic Simulation Language) program as a small sized sub routine. The suggested method is implemented while automatically operating the rod extracting machine. The result of implementation shows that the real time 3D graphic simulation is well synchronized with the actual machine according to the operational data.

전자인식 시스템에서 택 ID의 원거리 전송 시스템 (Long Distance Transmission System of Tag's ID in RFID System)

  • 전자인식 시스템에서 택의 고유정보는 호스트 컴퓨터 내의 응용 프로그램에 의해 처리된다. 응용 프로그램의 예는 주차관리 프로그램, 도서관리 프로그램 등이 있다. 리더에서 인식된 Tag의 ID는 호스트 컴퓨터로 입력된다. 컴퓨터의 응용 프로그램은 컴퓨터의 DB 내에 Tag ID 같은 데이터를 찾는다. 같은 ID를 찾은 후, 응용 프로그램의 운영 목적에 따라 호스트 컴퓨터는 제어 명령을 해당 H/W에 전달한다. 이러한 과정은 호스트 컴퓨터에 있는 프로그램의 진행이 된다. 그러나 수행과정이 정상적으로 동작이 되는지를 원거리에서 확인할 필요가 있다. 원거리에서 진행과정을 감시할 때에는 2가지의 매체를 사용한다. 일반적으로 유선감시 시스템과 무선 감시 스템이다. 유선방법 중에 유용한 것은 인터넷 통신망이다. 무선을 이용하는 것은 블루투스 통신망이다. 이 두 매개체는 간단히 그리고 에러없이 수행과정을 모니터를 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 우선 RFID 시스템을 제작한다. 125KHz를 반송파로 하고 있는 EM4095 칩을 사용하여 RFID 시스템을 구현한다. Tag의 고유 ID는 W3100A 칩을 사용한 모듈을 통하여 원격지에 보내어 진다. 이러한 시스템을 제작하고, 데이터 송수신을 간단한 응용 프로그램을 이용하여 확인하였다. 결과로는 수신율 확인하고, 전체 시스템 및 각 부분을 사진으로 보여 준다. 그리고 각 부분의 제어 프로그램을 설명하였다.
