Development of A Lane Departure Monitoring and Control System

  • The lane departure avoidance systems have been considered promising to assist human drivers in AVCS (Advanced Vehicle Control System). In this paper, a lane departure monitoring and control system is developed and evaluated in the hardware-in-the-loop simulations. This system consists of lane sensing, lane departure monitoring and active steering control subsystems. The road image is obtained based on a vision sensor and the lane parameters are estimated using image processing and Kalman Filter technique. The active steering controller for avoiding the lane departure is designed based on the lane departure metric. The proposed lane departure avoidance system is realized in a steering HILS (hardware-in-the-loop simulation) tool and its performance is evaluated with a driver in the loop.

  • This paper presents the automatic monitoring system for the small and medium sized manufacturing system. The monitoring system was composed of main controller, network card and monitoring sub controller for the unit machine. PC was used for the main controller and monitoring controller, which has the same hardware with the network card, was developed using Intel 80196 microprocessor.

  • 향후 대용량 정보 제공 서비스를 위한 크루즈 선박 등의 특수 선박용 광 네트워크 모니터링 시스템의 하드웨어와 소프트웨어를 설계 제작하였고, 개발된 광 네트워크 감시 시스템이 선박이라는 특수 상황과 관련있는 이물질이 부착된 광 커넥터, 오접속된 커넥터에 의한 손실 등 2가지의 이벤트를 정확히 모니터링하는지를 실험을 통해 확인해 보았다. 모니터링 시스템의 하드웨어는 선박의 네트워크 구조에 맞는 chained branch와 dark fiber 병합 방식으로 설계 제작하였고, 2가지 이벤트에 대한 감시 시험 결과 3가지 모두 5 m 이내의 범위로 모니터링하는 것을 확인하였다.

  • BACnet is an international standard communication protocol especially designed for building automation and control systems. BACnet uses the Master-Slave/Token-Passing (MS/TP) protocol as one of its field-level networks. A BACnet MS/TP field controller prototype and MS/TP network monitoring system are developed in this study. This report introduces the design and implementation methodology of a BACnet MS/TP field controller hardware, firmware and protocol stack. This report also presents the implementation methodology of BACnet MS/TP network monitoring system using VTS (Visual Test Shell). The methodologies introduced in this report will facilitate the develop and implementation of the BACnet-based control systems in building automation area.

Production Information Monitoring System for CIM in Footwear Industry

  • This paper presents a production information monitoring system as an infrastructure of CIM system in footwear industry. The system is composed of hardware devices of terminal, communication converter, line controller and software for manufacturing processes. A terminal like a scanner is used for shop floor data input and a line controller is used to link between terminal and server. LAN and RS485 are used for connecting hardware components and deliver their information mutually. In the system, real time production information is acquired from information resources such as group of uppers and soles. The collected production information is delivered to a line controller and analyzed. Server receives information from line controller and machines for production management. Production planning information that is machined in the server is delivered to the shop floor and used for the production management of work in process, and used for improvement of productivity in a footwear production company. The implementation of the developed system shows the effectiveness of the system.

  • In this paper, we introduce the hardware of the measuring system for on-line test and evaluation of high speed rail. It is composed of 6 DAMs(Data Aquisition modules), 2 monitoring modules and 1 main computer. Each of DAMs is connected many kinds of sensors, such as accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gauges, volt meters, current meter, odermeter, and measures the signals from sensors, saves it and displays it on the displayer. Two monitoring modules monitor the major signals transferred from DAMs. A main computer controls 4 DAMs(DAM1, DAM2, DAM31 and DAM32) and 2 monitoring modules and also monitors the major signals transferred from DAMs.

  • 본 논문에서는 ntop, ethereal, netperf, nettest 등 기존의 네트워크 모니터링 시스템의 취약점을 보안하고 동적인 firewall 기능을 가진 네트워크 트래픽 매니지먼트 시스템인 MAGI를 설계, 구현하고 이를 분석한다. MAGI 는 소프트웨어로 개발된 기존의 네트워크 모니터링 시스템과는 달리 소프트웨어와 하드웨어가 결합된 형태를 가진다. 소프트웨어 측면에서는 기존 모니터링 시스템과 차별화된 웹 유저 인터페이스(web user Interface) 시스템을 적용하여 트래픽 분석 및 방화벽 적용이 간편할 뿐만 아니라, 하드웨어의 상태를 모니터링 및 관리 할 수 있는 기능을 지닌다. 웹 유저 인터페이스는 PHP 와 MySQL 을 연동하여 데이터베이스(database)를 이용할 수 있어 데이터 분석이 간편한 장점을 지닌다. 하드웨어 파트인 어플라이언스(appliance)는 네트워크에 브릿지(bridge) 모드로 설치하여 모니터링 하는 시스템에 부하가 걸리지 않게 구현하였다. 또한, 어플라이언스 관리를 위하여 ncurses 기반의 인터페이스를 만들어 탑재함으로써 다양한 환경에 적용이 가능하다.

FPGA integrated IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee wireless sensor nodes performance for industrial plant monitoring and automation

  • The field-programmable gate array (FPGA) is gaining popularity in industrial automation such as nuclear power plant instrumentation and control (I&C) systems due to the benefits of having non-existence of operating system, minimum software errors, and minimum common reason failures. Separate functions can be processed individually and in parallel on the same integrated circuit using FPGAs in comparison to the conventional microprocessor-based systems used in any plant operations. The use of FPGAs offers the potential to minimize complexity and the accompanying difficulty of securing regulatory approval, as well as provide superior protection against obsolescence. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are a new technology for acquiring and processing plant data wirelessly in which sensor nodes are configured for real-time signal processing, data acquisition, and monitoring. ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4) is an open worldwide standard for minimum power, low-cost machine-to-machine (M2M), and internet of things (IoT) enabled wireless network communication. It is always a challenge to follow the specific topology when different Zigbee nodes are placed in a large network such as a plant. The research article focuses on the hardware chip design of different topological structures supported by ZigBee that can be used for monitoring and controlling the different operations of the plant and evaluates the performance in Vitex-5 FPGA hardware. The research work presents a strategy for configuring FPGA with ZigBee sensor nodes when communicating in a large area such as an industrial plant for real-time monitoring.

Autonomous hardware development for impedance-based structural health monitoring

  • The development of a digital signal processor based prototype is described in relation to continuing efforts for realizing a fully self-contained active sensor system utilizing impedance-based structural health monitoring. The impedance method utilizes a piezoelectric material bonded to the structure under observation to act as both an actuator and sensor. By monitoring the electrical impedance of the piezoelectric material, insights into the health of the structured can be inferred. The active sensing system detailed in this paper interrogates a structure utilizing a self-sensing actuator and a low cost impedance method. Here, all the data processing, storage, and analysis is performed at the sensor location. A wireless transmitter is used to communicate the current status of the structure. With this new low cost, field deployable impedance analyzer, reliance on traditional expensive, bulky, and power consuming impedance analyzers is no longer necessary. A complete power analysis of the prototype is performed to determine the validity of power harvesting being utilized for self-containment of the hardware. Experimental validation of the prototype on a representative structure is also performed and compared to traditional methods of damage detection.

Zigbee 무선통신을 이용한 UPS DC링크 커패시터의 고장 모니터링 시스템 개발 (A development of Diagnosis Monitoring System for UPS DC Link Capacitors using Zigbee Wireless Communication)

  • Electrolytic power capacitors have been widely used in power conversion system such as inverter or UPS because of characteristics of large capacitance, high-voltage and low-cost. The electrolytic capacitor, which is most of the time affected by the aging effect, plays a very important role for the power-electronics system quality and reliability. Therefore it is important to diagnosis monitoring the condition of an electrolytic capacitor in real-time to predict the failure. In this paper, the on-line remote diagnosis monitoring system for UPS DC link electrolytic capacitors using low-cost single-chip zigbee communication modules is developed. To estimate the health status of the capacitor, the equivalent series resistor(ESR) of the component has to be determined. The capacitor ESR is estimated by using RMS computation using BPF modeling of DC link ripple voltage/current. Zigbee-based hardware experimental results show that the proposed remote capacitor diagnosis monitoring system can be applied to UPS successfully.
