The surface gloss of the injection molded part is one of the most significant point for evaluation the quality of products appearance. The effects of molding condition on the gloss of HIPS(High Impact Poly Styrene) molded part were investigated in this work. The measurements of gloss on the surface of molded part were carried out with different melt temperature, mold temperature, injection pressure and holding pressure. We observed the result of HIPS gloss compared with our's previous ABS study. The more melt and mold temperature increased, the brighter the gloss increase. Holding and injection pressure had little effect on the gloss. The gloss was effected in order of melt temperature, mold temperature, injection pressure, holding pressure.

In this study, design and manufacturing of plastic injection mold with cavity pressure/temperature sensors were performed fur tensile test specimen. International standard system for plastic tensile specimen was applied to design an injection molding system. Cavity pressure and temperature sensors were placed on the side of fixed platen of the injection mold to prevent them from external impact damage. Injection molding experiments with variations of injection speed and melt temperature were performed and then tensile test of the manufactured polycarbonate specimens was also performed. It was shown that injection molding processing parameters can have effect on the mechanical properties of the plastic injection molded part.

Thermoplastic elastormer (TPE) has many advantages such as high flexibility, high elasticity and high elongation, etc. TPE is easily molded such as plastic materials, therefore, many TPE parts are applied as home appliances and mechanical parts. However, if TPE is once molded, its mechanical properties are changed by injection molding conditions such as melt temperature, mold temperature, injection pressure and holding pressure, etc. In this study, the influences of the injection molding condition on the mechanical properties of thermoplastic vulcanizates(TPVs), which is one of the TPE, were investigated. By the injection molding experiment, as increasing the melt temperature, the tensile strength, shrinkage and hardness decreased. By the scanning electron microscope (SEM) analyzing the TPVs' crystallization, the morphology was affected by the melt temperature.

Series of experimental work was performed to mold tensile specimens by using the injection molding machine Mold temperature, melt temperature and packing time were chosen as processing parameters for studying the effects of those conditions on the linear shrinkage of final product. Here, each processing variable was decided from the numerical simulation and resin manufacturer's suggested value. The effects of molding conditions on the linear shrinkage in flow direction of the resin were analyzed by measuring the parts 2, 10, 30 and 60 days after molding. As a result, the linear shrinkage increased with the higher mold and melt temperature, and the change of mold temperature has shown more influence. The linear shrinkage of polypropylene has been found to progress up to 30 day with the lapse of the time, and the amount of the linear shrinkage has shown to be between 2.14% and 2.75%. In addition, the effects of packing pressure on the weight has shown to be extremely significant up to freezing time, and proper packing time of the tensile specimen has been found to be 2.0 seconds.

Currently, flat cover glasses are widely applied to mobile devices. However, for a good design and for convenience of use, curved cover glasses are in demand. Thus, many companies are attempting to produce curved cover glasses using a shaving technique, but the production efficiency is very low. Therefore, a molding technique has been adopted to increase the efficiency of curved glass production systems. For a glass molding system, a uniform temperature distribution of the mold is crucial to produce high-quality curved cover glasses. Before setting the heating conditions of the molding system for a uniform temperature distribution by a thermal analysis, verification is required. Therefore, in this study, temperature measurements were conducted for a prototype molding system and the experimental results were compared with simulation computations. The temperatures of the heating block surface were in good agreement with the computational results for transient and steady conditions.

In the accompanying paper, part I, we have presented the physical modeling and the associated numerical analysis of injection molding process with a compressible viscoelastic fluid model. In part II, the effects of compression stage in the injection/compression molding process are presented. Numerical results showed that the injection/compression molding process reduced birefringence as compared with the injection molding process. In this respect, one can conclude that the injection/compression molding process is more suitable for manufacturing the precise optical products than the injection molding process. In the distribution of birefringence, the effect of packing procedure in injection/compression molding process was found to be similar to that in injection molding process. From the numerical results, we found that birefringence becomes smaller as the melt temperature gets higher and the closing velocity of the mold gets smaller with the flow rate and the mold temperature affecting the birefringence insignificantly. As far as the distribution of density is concerned, the flow rate, the melt temperature, and the closing velocity of the mold had insignificant effect on the distribution of density in comparison with the mold temperature.

In this study, the effects of residual stress induced by plastic injection molding process on the tensile behavior of plastic tensile test specimen were investigated. To manufacture plastic tensile test specimens, an injection mold based on the international standard system was designed and made. Cavity pressure and temperature sensors were installed inside of the presented mold to monitor pressure and temperature values during the cycle of injection molding. Injection molding simulation was performed with the same condition of experiment and linear structural tensile analysis was also performed with the initial condition of the residual stress. It was shown that the residual stress induced by injection molding has an effect on the experiment of tensile test and linear structural tensile simulation.

An experimental study on heat transfer and flow in compression molding of clss-B and A SMC(Sheet Molding Compounds) in a flat plate and a cross-sectional T-shape was carried out. The temperature was measured with thermocouples at two locations in the 4 layered SMC charge and pressure was measured at the center of the top mold during compression molding. Three different mold speeds, 15, 45, 50 mm/min and two different mold temperature, $130^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}150^{\circ}C$ were used for compression molding experiments. Experiments with different colored SMC layers were used to study flow patterns at various compression stages. In oder to predict the pressure and load in SMC compression molding, slab method was used. The predicted values of pressure and load from the slab analysis were compared well with the measured data.
Thin-wall injection molding is associated with many advantages, including increased portability, the conserving of materials, and the reduction of the molding cycle times. In the application of the thin-wall molding, a considerable reduction of the effective flow thickness results in filling difficulty. High-frequency induction is an efficient way to overcome this filling difficulty by means of heating the mold surface by electromagnetic induction. The present study applies the induction heating to the injection molding of thinwalled micro structures with high aspect ratio. The feasibility of the proposed heating method is investigated through a numerical analysis. The estimated filling characteristics of the micro-features are investigated with variations of mold temperature and part thickness, of which results are also compared with experimental measurements.
In this study, warpage characteristics of mobile phone cover through injection molding process were investigated using design of experiments in injection molding process. Warpage in plastic injection molding has a significant effect on quality of product. Effects of injection time, packing pressure, packing time, mold temperature and melt temperature on the warpage of mobile phone cover were considered by numerical analysis and experiment with Taguchi method. The degree of warpage for the injection molded part was measured by using three dimensional coordinate measurement machine. It was shown that temperature control factor has more significant effect on the warpage of mobile phone cover than pressure control factor.
