Although continuous casting process has highly developed, there still remain many problems to be considered. Specifically, two vortex flows resulting from impingement against narrow walls make a flow field unstable in a mold, and it is directly related to internal and external defects of steel products. To cope with this instability, EMBR (Electromagnetic Brake Ruler) technique has been lately studied for the stability of molten steel flow, and it is revealed that molten steel flow in a mold can be controlled with applied magnetic field. However, it is still difficult to clarify flow pattern in an EMBR caster due to complex correlations among variables such as geometric factors, casting conditions, and the place and the intensity of charged magnetic field. In the present study, flow field in a mold is focused with different conditions of electromagnetic effect. To accurately analyze the case, three dimensional low Reynolds turbulent model and appropriate boundary conditions are chosen. To evaluate the electromagnetic effect in molten steel flow, dimensionless numbers are employed. The results show that the location and the intensity of the applied magnetic field significantly influence the flow pattern. Both impingement and internal flow pattern are changed remarkably with the change of the location of applied magnetic field. It turns out that an insufficient magnetic force yields adverse effect like channeling, and rather lowers the quality of steel product.

The effect of mold rotation on the transport process and resultant macrosegregation pattern during solidification of an Al-Cu alloy contained in a vertical axisymmetric annular mold cooled from the inner wall is numerically investigated. The mold initially at rest starts to rotate at a prescribed angular velocity simultaneously with the beginning of cooling. Computed results for a representative case show that the mold rotation essentially suppresses the development of both thermal and solutal convections in the melt, creating distinct characteristics such as the liquidus front, flow pattern and temperature distribution from those for the stationary mold. Thermal convection which develops at the early stages of cooling is soon extinguished by the rotating flow induced during spin-up, and thus does not effectively remove the initial superheat from the melt. On the other hand, solutal convection, though it weakens considerably and is confined within the mushy zone, still predominates over the solute redistribution process. With increasing the angular velocity, the solute transport in the axial direction is enhanced, whereas that in the radial direction is reduced. The final macrosegregation formed in the mold rotating at moderate angular velocities appears to be favorable in comparison with the stationary casting, in that not only relatively homogenized composition is achieved, but also a severely positive-segregated channel is restrained.

Recently, the engineering designer of injection mould has become more and more dependent on the CAE. In the design factors of injection mould, the shrinkage rate should be considered as one of the important performances to produce the reliable products. therefore the shrinkage rate can be mostly calculated by the MoldFlow and Pro-engineering. in the design process. However it is not easy to predict the shrinkage rate of a plastic injection mold in its design process because the analysis can take minutes to hours, the high computational costs of performing the analysis limit their use in design optimization. In this study, the surrogate models, DACE model, based on the Kriging in order to optimize the shrinkage rate of electric microwave oven window is used in lieu of the original models, facilitating design optimization.
This paper is concerned with the analysis of material flow characteristics of stepped rod forming. The analysis in this paper concentrated on the evaluation of the design parameters for deformation patterns of tube forming, load characteristics, extruded length, and die pressure. The design factors such as punch nose radius, die corner radius, friction factor, and punch face angle are involved in the simulation. The stepped rod forming is analyzed by using a commercial finite element code. This simulation makes use of stepped rod material and punch geometry on the basis of punch geometry recommended by International Cold Forging Group. As radius ratio is large, forming load was reduced but extruded length ratio was increased.

Polyurethane foams were produced by using a homogenizer as a mixing equipment. Effects of stirring speed on the foam structure were investigated with SEM observations. Variation of the bubble size, density of the foam, compressive strength, and thermal conductivity were studied. A hybrid foam consisting of polyurethane foam and commercial polystyrene foam is produced. Mechanical and thermal properties of the hybrid foam were compared with those of pure polyurethane foam. Advancement of flow front during mold filling was observed by using a digital camcorder. Four types of mold geometry were used for mold filling experiments. Flow during mold filling was analyzed by using a two-dimensional control volume finite element method. Variation of foam density with respect to time was experimentally measured. Creeping flow, uniform density, uniform conversion, and uniform temperature were assumed for the numerical simulation. It was assumed for the numerical analysis that the cavity has thin planar geometry and the viscosity is constant. The theoretical predictions were compared with the experimental results and showed good agreement.
Vacuum molding process(V-process) has several benefits such as a lower total production cost and a high quality casting comparing to the conventional sand molding. Influence of the gating design on the molten metal flow was investigated in this study. General criteria for the gating design of the castings and commercial codes for the flow and solidification analysis were used to attain the optimized gating design in V-process. Though mold cavity was filled smoothly under the low initial velocity of molten metal, molten metal dashed against the upper part of the mold before the completion of the mold filling with higher initial molten metal velocity and fell soon. This phenomenon may affect collapsing the mold shape, however it is thought that the possibility of burning out of the vinyl by the molten metal is not so high because vinyl is coated with refractory material.

An experimental study on heat transfer and flow in compression molding of clss-B and A SMC(Sheet Molding Compounds) in a flat plate and a cross-sectional T-shape was carried out. The temperature was measured with thermocouples at two locations in the 4 layered SMC charge and pressure was measured at the center of the top mold during compression molding. Three different mold speeds, 15, 45, 50 mm/min and two different mold temperature, $130^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}150^{\circ}C$ were used for compression molding experiments. Experiments with different colored SMC layers were used to study flow patterns at various compression stages. In oder to predict the pressure and load in SMC compression molding, slab method was used. The predicted values of pressure and load from the slab analysis were compared well with the measured data.
A computer simulation of mold filling has been performed in order to analyze the fluid flow pattern in a mold cavity since casting defects such as cold shut formation, entrapment of air or gas, and inclusions are closely related to the fluid flow phenomena. The flow of molten metal entering the mold cavity with free surface has been modeled by SMAC(Simplified Marker and Cell) method. Two dimensional analysis was carried out on plate shape castings with two types of gate system. The calculation results were compared with those of water modeling experiments and showed relatively good agreement.

As plastic injection mold parts is suitable system mass production making mold. So thick steering wheel parts is desirable to carry out gas injection molding. Gas injection mold is skill to inject nitrogen gas postfilling melting raw material into mold. Gas injection mold have many advantage like retrenchment of material cost, upgrading the guality. etc. It was decided gate position to minimize warpage of parts analysis injection mold process using mold flow software and incase doing gas injection mold using normal p.p material. it occur big warpage. so it is object minimizing warpage of injection parts to change p.p material containing mineral 18% and removing fingering phenomenon trouble as changing gate position. Also in case carrying out gas injection mold, I did comparison and analysis to grasp shape flow in gas setting a standard gate after flowing in raw material. Through this study, I found out changing of thickness by parts shape and it can occur warpage of parts by plastic material even though it carry out gas injection mold and it had a direct influence on trouble of parts by gate position.

Objectives: We aimed to compare the sampling performance of different flow-based impactor samplers for collecting fungal spores and bacteria and to explore the association of the level of bioaerosols with activity patterns of occupants in daycare center settings. Methods: For comparison of sampling performance, two different flow-based samplers (greater than 100 L/min or not) were selected; a low flow-based sampler (one-stage Andersen sampler) and two high flow-based samplers (DUO SAS SUPER 360 sampler, BUCK bio-culture sampler). We collected airborne mold and bacteria in 30 daycare centers with various levels of contaminated air. Three repeat samplings per each sampler were performed. Mold and bacteria were grown for 96 hours at $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ and 48 hours at $35{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, respectively. The Andersen and SAS samplers were used for investigating the association between the level of bioaerosols and the activity patterns of occupants in daycares. Particular matters 10($PM_{10}$), temperature, and relative humidity were monitored as well. Samplings were carried out with one-hour interval from 9 to 5 O'clock. For statistical comparisons, Kruskal-Wallis test, Wilcoxon's signed rank test, and multiple regression analysis were carried out. Results: The airborne level of molds by the low flow-based sampler were significantly higher than that of high flow-based samplers (indoor, P=0.037; outdoor, P=0.041). However, no statistical difference was observed in the airborne level of bacteria by each sampler. Also the level of bioaerosols varied by the time, particularly with different activity patterns in daycare centers. The higher level of mold and bacteria were observed in play time in indoor. Similarly, the concentrations of $PM_{10}$ were significantly associated with the level of bioaerosols (P<0.05). Conclusions: Our findings indicate that the flow rate of sampler, rather than total air volume, could be able to affect the results of sampling. Also, the level of airborne mold and bacteria vary behavior patterns of occupants in indoor of daycare settings. Therefore, different samplers with other flow rate may be selected for mold or bacteria sampling, and activity patterns should be considered for bioaerosol sampling as well.
