Together with the Young's modulus the Poisson's ratio is another independent material parameter that governs the behavior of a structural system. Therefore, it is meaningful to evaluate separately the influence of the parameter on the random response of the structural system. To this end, a formulation dealing with the spatial randomness in the Poisson's ratio in laminated composite plates is proposed. The main idea of the paper is to transform the fraction form of the constitutive coefficients into the expanded form in an ascending order of the stochastic field function. To validate the adequacy of the formulation, a square plate is chosen and the computation results are compared with those obtained using conventional Monte Carlo simulation. It is observed that the results show good agreement with those by the Monte Carlo simulation(MCS).
A new practical modeling of the Norton's power law creep is proposed and implemented to analyze the high temperature behaviors of Alloy 690 SG tube material. In the model, both the stress exponent n and the rate constant B are simply treated as the temperature dependent parameters. Based on the two-step optimization procedure, the temperature function of the rate constant B(T) was determined for the data set of each B value after fixing the stress exponent n value by using the prior optimized function at each temperature. This procedure could significantly reduce the numerical errors when using the power law creep equations. Based on the better description of the steady-state creep rates, the experimental rupture times could also be well predicted by using the Monkman-Grant relationship. Furthermore, the difference in tensile strengths at high temperatures could be very well estimated by assuming the imaginary creep stress related to the given strain rate after correcting the temperature effects on the elastic modulus.
In this paper, we give some results on ${\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}}$ for the certain classes of holomorphic functions in the unit disc $E=\{z:{\mid}z{\mid}<1\}$ and on ${\partial}E=\{z:{\mid}z{\mid}=1\}$. For the function $f(z)=z^2+c_3z^3+c_4z^4+{\cdots}$ defined in the unit disc E such that $f(z){\in}{\mathcal{A}}_{\alpha}$, we estimate a modulus of the angular derivative of ${\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}}$ function at the boundary point b with ${\frac{bf^{\prime}(b)}{f(b)}}=1+{\alpha}$. Moreover, Schwarz lemma for class ${\mathcal{A}}_{\alpha}$ is given. The sharpness of these inequalities is also proved.
We present deep UBVIc and Hα photometry for the young open cluster IC 1590 which is at the center of the HII region NGC 281. From Ha index, 39 Hα emission stars and 15 Hα emission candidates are selected. The reddening law toward IC 1590 is slightly abnormal (RV,cl = 3.6 ± 0.2). The distance modulus of IC 1590 obtained from the reddening-free (Q', QVλ) diagrams is 12.4 ± 0.1 mag (d = 3.02 ± 0.14 kpc), which is consistent with distance d = 2.91 ± 0.42 kpc from the parallax of Gaia DR2 catalogue within the error range. We also determined the age and mass function of IC 1590 using the stellar evolution models and PMS evolutionary tracks. The median age of PMS stars is 2.4 ± 2.2 Myr. The initial mass function (IMF) of IC 1590 is the Salpeter-type IMF with a slope of = -1.26 ± 0.14 for m > 1 M⊙ stars.
The melt rheology of four binary blends of ethylene 1-octene copolymers (EOCs) which consist of one component by Ziegler-Natta and another by metallocene catalysts, was studied to elucidate miscibility in the melt by using torsion rheometer at 200$\^{C}$ and different shear rates. The four blend systems, designated into the FA+FM, SF+FM, RF+EN, and RF+PL blend, are divided and interpreted based on the melt index (MI), the density and the comonomer contents. The melt viscosity such asη', η", and η$\^$*/ is weight average value if the comonomer contents are similar, otherwise they show different manner. The experimental resole are analyzed based on the Cole-Cole plot of logη' uersus log η", the logarithmic plots of the dynamic storage modulus (G') versus the dynamic loss modulus (G") for various blend compositions, and the melt viscosity of 11', n", and f" as a function of blend compositions. As a cerise-quence, the FA+FM blend is miscible, but the SF+FM, RF+EN, and RF+PL blends are not in the melt. Thus miscibility of the blends studied in this communication is suggested to strongly influence by the comonomer contents rather than the density or the MI.
This analyzed a Young's modulus (E), a thermal expansion coefficient (TEC, ${\beta}$) and a thermal conductivity (${\kappa}$) of the material with simple cubic particulate inclusion using two model structures: a parallel structure and a series structure of laminated layers. The derived ${\beta}$ equations were applied to calculate the ${\beta}$ value of the W-MgO system. The accuracy was higher for the series model structure than for the parallel model structure. Young's moduli ($E_c$) of sintered porous alumina compacts were theoretically related to the development of neck growth of grain boundary between sintered two particles and expressed as a function of porosity. The series structure model with cubic pores explained well the increased tendency of $E_c$ with neck growth rather than the parallel structure model. The thermal conductivity of the three phase system of alumina-mullite-pore was calculated by a theoretical equation developed in this research group, and compared with the experimental results. The pores in the sintered composite were treated as one phase. The measured thermal conductivity of the composite with 0.5-25% porosity (open and closed pores) was in accordance with the theoretical prediction based on the parallel structure model.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of panel density and resin content on properties of medium density fiberboard (MDF) to obtain some insights on MDF properties as a function of panel density and resin content. MDF panels with different panel densities such as 650, 700, 750 and $800kg/m^3$ were manufactured by adjusting the amount of wood fibers in the mat forming. MDF panels were also fabricated by spraying 8, 10, 12, and 14% of urea-formaldehyde (UF) resins onto wood fibers in a drum-type mechanical blender to fabricate MDF panels with a target density of $650kg/m^3$. As the panel density and resin content increased, the internal bonding (IB) strength of MDF panel consistently increased. Modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE) and screw withdrawal resistance (SWR) had a similar trend to the IB strength. In physical properties, thickness swelling (TS) and water absorption (WA) decreased with an increase in both panel density and resin content. In addition, the formaldehyde emission (FE) which increased as the panel density and resin content became greater. In overall, the panel density of MDF had more significant effect than the resin content in all properties of MDF panels, indicating that it was better to adjust the panel density rather than the resin content for MDF manufacture.
In this paper, free vibration of rotating beam with random properties is studied. The cross-sectional area, elasticity modulus, moment of inertia, shear modulus and density are modeled as random fields and the rotational speed as a random variable. To study uncertainty, stochastic finite element method based on second order perturbation method is applied. To discretize random fields, the three methods of midpoint, interpolation and local average are applied and compared. The effects of rotational speed, setting angle, random property variances, discretization scheme, number of elements, correlation of random fields, correlation function form and correlation length on "Coefficient of Variation" (C.O.V.) of first mode eigenvalue are investigated completely. To determine the significant random properties on the variation of first mode eigenvalue the sensitivity analysis is performed. The results are studied for both Timoshenko and Bernoulli-Euler rotating beam. It is shown that the C.O.V. of first mode eigenvalue of Timoshenko and Bernoulli-Euler rotating beams are approximately identical. Also, compared to uncorrelated random fields, the correlated case has larger C.O.V. value. Another important result is, where correlation length is small, the convergence rate is lower and more number of elements are necessary for convergence of final response.
The mechanical and electrical properties of hot-pressed and annelaed $\beta$-SiC+39vol.% $ZrB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites were investigated as a function of the liquid forming additives of $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$(6:4 wt%). In this microstructures, no reactions and elongated $\alpha$-SiC grains with equiaxed $ZrB_2$ grains were observed between $\beta$-SiC and $ZrB_2$. The properties of the $\beta$-SiC+39vol.%$ZrB_2$ composites with 4wt% $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ at R.T. are as follows: fracture toughness is 6.37 MPa.m1/2, electical resistivity is $1.51\times10^{-4}\Omega \cdot\textrm{cm}$ and the relative density is 98.6% of the theoretical density. The fracture toughness of the $\beta$-SiC+39 vol.% $ZrB_2$ composites were weakly decreased with increasing amount of $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ additives. Internal stresses due to the difference of $\beta$-SiC and $ZrB_2$ thermal expansion coefficient and elastic modulus mismatch appeared to contribute to fracture toughening in $\beta$-SiC+39vol.%$ZrB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites.
