In this paper, we propose an excellent ultrasonic transceiver system based on a QPSK modulation technique for underwater communication. The transmitter sends a still image at the level of 187dB re $1{\mu}Pa/V@1m$ through a power amplifier by driving an ultrasonic sensor. The receiver performs digital conversion at the 100kHz sampling frequency, demodulation and decoding process for the image sent from the transmitter through the underwater communication. We have shown that the processed image at the receiver is almost the same as the orignal one. The maximum detection distance of the system proposed in this paper is approximately 1.17km. To cope with the difficulties of transmission loss, this paper proposes, implements and analyzes important parameters of sensors and circuits used in the system. Most of the underwater communication has focused on the transmission of audio signal, but this paper suggests an efficient underwater communication system for still image transmission.

In this paper, we propose $\pi$/4 QPSK scheme with block modulation algorithm, which can reduce preamble in order to transmit ATM cell efficiently in the uplink channel of LMDS, and also designed a new carrier recovery circuit which can improve carrier synchronization performance of block demodulation algorithm. The $\pi$/4 QPSK scheme employing the proposed block modulation algorithm achieved efficient frame transmission by making use of a few preamble when carrier synchronization, symbol timing synchronization and slot timing synchronization were performed by burst data of ATM cell in LMDS environment. For performance evaluation of the proposed method, a simulation analyzing the variation of carrier synchronization, symbol timing synchronization and slot timing synchronization using LMDS environment and burst mode condition was executed. In the simulation, the proposed method showed a good performance even though the reduced preamble as a few aspossible when carrier synchronization, symbol timing synchronization and slot timing synchronization is performed.
The signal in wireless multi-path channel is affected by fading and ISI because of high data rate transmission, so the signal has the high error rate. The present modulation and demodulation method of DSRC system can not expect sufficient for providing data service over 1 Mbps, so the channel equalization and advanced modulation and demodulation methods are required. OFDM is generally known as an effective technique for high data rate transmission system, since it can prevent ISI by inserting a guard interval. However, a guard interval longer than channel delay spread has to be used in each OFDM symbol period, thus resulting a considerable loss in the efficiency of channel utilization Therefore the equalizer is necessary to cancel ISI to accommodate advanced ITS service with higher bit rate and longer channel delay spread condition In this paper, the channel equalizer for the OFDM -DSRC system was designed and its performance in a multi-path fading environment was evaluated with computer simulation.

This paper presents a novel unified DC offset cancellation and I/Q regeneration for five-port junction based direct receivers. It utilizes the symmetry characteristics of the single-frequency continuous-wave (CW) signal, making it possible that the proposed method can be used regardless of carrier phase offset. The proposed method eliminates the additional DC offset cancellation and reduces the I/Q regeneration parameter estimation time. Since the proposed method employs a single-frequency CW signal independent of the modulation scheme, five-port junction based direct receivers can be used for the demodulation of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing and continuous phase modulation as well as phase shift-keying.

In this paper, we present surface-to-underwater visible light communication systems using white LEDs. Pulse position modulation (PPM)-based analogue data communications and on-off keying-based digital data communications systems are developed. Inexpensive and commercial power-LEDs and photo-diodes are used to construct two types of systems. We report the experimental results obtained from the prototype systems to show the possibility of an optical underwater visible light transceiver as a basis for short range underwater wireless network. Their performance deteriorates more than the atmosphere's one because of attenuation and scattering of the light in water, but these results are promising for the potential to create more robust network interface that improve medium performance such as a LED modulation and a photo-detector demodulation.

A novel scheme based on polarization modulation and the weighted fractional Fourier transform (PM-WFRFT) is proposed in this paper to enhance the physical layer security of dual-polarized satellite systems. This scheme utilizes the amplitude and phase of the carrier as information-bearing parameters to transmit the normal signal and conceals the confidential information in the carrier's polarization state (PS). After being processed by WFRFT, the characteristics of the transmit signal (including amplitude, phase and polarization state) vary randomly and in nearly Gaussian distribution. This makes the signal very difficult for an eavesdropper to recognize or capture. The WFRFT parameter is also encrypted by a pseudo-random sequence and updated in real time, which enhances its anti-interception performance. Furthermore, to prevent the polarization-based impairment to PM-WFRFT caused by depolarization in the wireless channel, two components of the polarized signal are transmitted respectively in two symbol periods; this prevents any mutual interference between the two orthogonally polarized components. Demodulation performance in the system was also assessed, then the proposed scheme was validated with a simulated dual-polarized satellite system.
The purpose of this research is development of EGG system for quantitative assessment of laryngeal function using speech and electroglotto-graphic data. The designed EGG system is 4-electrodes system which excitation current source is supplied from 1st to 4th electrode. The output signal.: from 2nd and 3rd electrodes, which are motivated by frequency of excitation current source, are air-pressure waveforms from vocal folds. After demodulation process, we obtain pitch signals of the modulated waveforms by excitation current source through differentiator which cuts off frequency below 0.1Hz. Software processing methods were used as conventional pitch extraction methods, but the proposed system is designed to analog hardware in order to eliminate interferences from low formant frequency of speech. We will construct the discriminating database between pathological subjects and control groups on each case. Using the proposed 3 channel EGG system and LMS algorithm, it will be detected that the distinctive characteristics of laryngeal function of voiced region and other regions by EGG signals and LPC spectra.
The mobile hotspot network (MHN), which is capable of providing a data rate of gigabits per second at high speed, is considered a potential use case of the future enhanced mobile broadband for 5G. Because a unidirectional network deployment has been considered for an MHN, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) can be employed to improve the system performance. For a practical implementation of NOMA under an MHN highway scenario where multiple pieces of MHN terminal equipment are served through the same beam simultaneously, a NOMA transceiver is proposed in this paper. For the NOMA transmitter, Gray-coded QAM constellation mapping is extended to arbitrary modulation order q. For the NOMA receiver, successive interference cancellation (SIC) is no longer necessary, and instead, a parallel demodulation is proposed. The numerical and simulation results suggest that the proposed NOMA transceiver outperforms the conventional NOMA SIC receiver and can be flexibly used for an MHN highway scenario.
Purpose : In order to overcome limitations in the existing conventional spectrometer, a new spectrometer with advanced functionalities is designed and implemented. Materials and Methods : We designed a spectrometer using the TMS320C6701 DSP capable of 1 giga floating point operations per second (GFLOPS). The spectrometer can generate continuously varying complicate gradient waveforms by real-time calculation, and select image plane interactively. The designed spectrometer is composed of two parts: one is DSP-based digital control part, and the other is analog part generating gradient and RF waveforms, and performing demodulation of the received RF signal. Each recover board can measure 4 channel FID signals simultaneously for parallel imaging, and provides fast reconstruction using the high speed DSP. Results : The developed spectrometer was installed on a 1.5 Tesla whole body MRI system, and performance was tested by various methods. The accurate phase control required in digital modulation and demodulation was tested, and multi-channel acquisition was examined with phase-array coil imaging. Superior image quality is obtained by the developed spectrometer compared to existing commercial spectrometer especially in the fast spin echo images. Conclusion : Interactive control of the selection planes and real-time generation of gradient waveforms are important functions required for advanced imaging such as spiral scan cardiac imaging. Multi-channel acquisition is also highly demanding for parallel imaging. In this paper a spectrometer having such functionalities is designed and developed using the TMS320C6701 DSP having 1 GFLOPS computational power. Accurate phase control was achieved by the digital modulation and demodulation techniques. Superior image qualities are obtained by the developed spectrometer for various imaging techniques including FSE, GE, and angiography compared to those obtained by the existing commercial spectrometer.

In this paper, Antenna, LNA, Mixer, VCO, and Modulation/Demodulation in Baseband processor which are the RF main components in Wireless LAN system for ultra high-speed communications network are studied. Antenna bandwidth and selective fading due to multipath can be major obstacles in high speed digital communications. To solve this problem, wide band MSA which has loop-structure magnetic antenna characteristics is designed. Distributed mixer using dual-gate GaAs MESFET can achieve over 10dB LO/RF isolation without hybrid, and minimize circuit size. As linear mixing signal is produced, distortions can be decreased at baseband signals. Conversion gain is achieved by mixing and amplification simultaneously. Mixer is designed to have wide band characteristics using distributed amplifier. In VCO design, Oscillator design method by large signal analysis is used to produce stable signal. Modulation/Demodulation system in baseband processor, DS/SS technique which is robust against noise and interference is used to eliminate the effect of multipath propagation. DQPSK modulation technique with M-sequences for wideband PN spreading signals is adopted because of BER characteristic and high speed digital signal transmission.
