Purpose: To generate phase images with free of motion-induced artifact and susceptibility-induced distortion using 3D radial ultrashort TE (UTE) MRI. Materials and Methods: The field map was theoretically derived by solving Laplace's equation with appropriate boundary conditions, and used to simulate the image distortion in conventional spin-warp MRI. Manufacturer's 3D radial imaging sequence was modified to acquire maximum number of radial spokes in a given time, by removing the spoiler gradient and sampling during both rampup and rampdown gradient. Spoke direction randomly jumps so that a readout gradient acts as a spoiling gradient for the previous spoke. The custom raw data was reconstructed using a homemade image reconstruction software, which is programmed using Python language. The method was applied to a phantom and in-vivo human brain and abdomen. The performance of UTE was compared with 3D GRE for phase mapping. Local phase mapping was compared with T2* mapping using UTE. Results: The phase map using UTE mimics true field-map, which was theoretically calculated, while that using 3D GRE revealed both motion-induced artifact and geometric distortion. Motion-free imaging is particularly crucial for application of phase mapping for abdomen MRI, which typically requires multiple breathold acquisitions. The air pockets, which are caught within the digestive pathway, induce spatially varying and large background field. T2* map, that was calculated using UTE data, suffers from non-uniform T2* value due to this background field, while does not appear in the local phase map of UTE data. Conclusion: Phase map generated using UTE mimicked the true field map even when non-zero susceptibility objects were present. Phase map generated by 3D GRE did not accurately mimic the true field map when non-zero susceptibility objects were present due to the significant field distortion as theoretically calculated. Nonetheless, UTE allows for phase maps to be free of susceptibility-induced distortion without the use of any post-processing protocols.

Copolymerizations of propylene oxide (PO) and phthalic anhydride (PA) have been performed in the presence of double metal cyanide (DMC) catalyst as a means of incorporating ester groups in the polyol backbone. DMC catalyst was effective for the copolymerization and the reactivity ratios measured by modified Kelen-$T{\ddot{u}}d{\ddot{o}}s$ equation were $r_1(PA)\;=\;0$, and $r^2(PO)\;=\;0.248$. Four different Polyol samples containing 1.0, 2.1, 7.52, and 11.42 mol% of PA unit were utilized for the synthesis of thermoplastic polyurethanes of their hard segments of 19 wt%. As the incorporated amount of PA increases, the elongation of the resulting polyurethane decreases and the tensile strength and the tensile modulus increase. The modulation of the incorporated amount of PA into polyol backbone was proven to be a feasible way to tune the physical properties of polyurethanes.
Spin dynamics of magnetic tunnel junctions with free and fixed reference layers is investigated by ferromagnetic resonance micromagnetic simulations. First, in magnetic tunnel junctions with an exchange biased synthetic ferrimagnetic reference layer, a magnetization direction of each layer and the tunneling magnetoresistance are calculated for a DC magnetic field. To investigate the spin exciting modes in magnetic tunnel junctions, we simulate the ferromagnetic resonance frequency spectra with small RF magnetic fields. Exciting modes of the tunneling magnetoresistance calculated by an included angle between free and reference layers is interpreted from those of each layer. Spin exciting modes are different according to a signs of the DC magnetic field. In a negative magnetic field, FMR frequency spectra of free and reference layers are well elucidated by the modified Kittel's equation. However, in a positive magnetic field, there is no simple analytic solution related to FMR frequency spectra due to the coupled modes. Since ferromagnetic layers in magnetic tunnel junctions are interactive each other, careful considerations of the reference and fixed layer as well as the free layer are required for understanding on the spin dynamics of magnetic tunnel junctions with an exchange biased synthetic ferrimagnetic reference layer.
The creep behavior of gels made with $30{\sim}45%$ gelatinized rice starch was measured over a wide range of temperature. Compressive creep curves of rice starch gels conformed to a six element mechanical model consisting of one Hookean, two Voigt and one Newtonian component. The creep compliance of gels decreased with increasing starch concentrations. Among viscoelastic constants of the mechanical model, elastic modulus was mainly influenced by the change of starch concentrations. The concentration-invariant compliance curve was obtained by reduction to 38% using reduction parameter $a_{c}$. The creep compliance curves of 45% starch gels increased with temperature, which indicated that rice starch gels became softer and less rigid with increasing temperature. When the compliance at $20^{\circ}C$ was set as a reference curve, creep compliance data for 45% gels at various temperature could be superimposed as a continuous smooth curve. The apparent activation energies of 45% rice starch gels calculated by the modified WLF equation were not intrinsic, but decreased as temperature increased.
Manifold researches for carbon capture and storage (CCS) have been developed and large scale-carbon capture system can be performed recently. Hence, the technologies for $CO_2$ sequestration or storage become necessary to handle the captured $CO_2$. Among them, enhanced oil recovery using $CO_2$ can be a solution since it guarantees both oil recovery and $CO_2$ sequestration. In this study, the miscible flow of oil and $CO_2$ in porous media is modeled to analyze the effect of enhanced oil recovery and $CO_2$ sequestration. Based on Darcy-Muskat law, the equation is modified to consider miscibility of oil and $CO_2$ and the change of viscosity. Finite volume method is used for numerical modeling. As results, the pressure and oil saturation changes with time can be predicted when oil, water, and $CO_2$ are injected, respectively, and $CO_2$ injection is more efficient than water injection for oil recovery.

Princeton Ocean Model (POM) is modified to construct a three-dimensional, semi-implicit hydro¬dynamic model with a wetting-and-drying scheme. The model employs semi-implicit treatment of the barotropic pressure gradient terms and the vertical mixing terms in the momentum equations, and the velocity divergence term in the vertically-integrated continuity equation. Such treatment removes the external mode and thus the mode splitting scheme in POM, allowing the semi-implicit model to use a larger time step. Applied to hypothetical systems, both the semi-implicit model and POM give nearly the same results. The semi-implicit model, however, runs approximately 4.4 times faster than POM showing its improved computational efficiency. Applied to a hypothetical system with intertidal flats, POM employing the mode splitting scheme produces noises at the intertidal flats, that propagate into the main channel resulting in unstable current velocities. Despite its larger time step, the semi-implicit model gives stable current velocities both at the intertidal flats and main channel. The semi-implicit model when applied to Kyeonggi Bay gives a good reproduction of the observed tides and tidal currents throughout the modeling domain, demonstrating its prototype applicability.

This study dealt with developing a new approach for finding properties which might represent rut resistance characteristics of asphalt mixture under static loading. Two aggregates, a normal asphalt (pen 60-80) and 5 polymer-modified asphalts were used in preparation of 12 dense-graded mixtures. Marshall mix design was used in determination of OAC and each mixture at the OAC was prepared for a newly-developed Kim test on Marshall specimen (S=10cm) and gyratory specimen (S=15cm), and for wheel tracking test. Kim test used Marshall loading frame and specimens were conditioned for 30min at $60^{\circ}C$ before loading through Kim tester an apparatus consisting of a loading column and a specimen and column holder Diameter (D) of column was 3cm and 4cm with each column having different radius (r) of round cut at the bottom. The static load was applied at 50mm/min in axial direction of the specimen, not in diametral direction. The maximum load ($P_{max}$) and vertical deformation (y) at $P_{max}$ point were obtained from the test. A strength value was calculated based on the $P_{max}$ r, D and y by using the equation $K_D = 4P_{max}/{\pi}(D-2(r-\sqrt{2ry-y^2}))^2$ and is defined as the deformation strength ($kgf/cm^2$). The values of $P_{max}$/y and $K_I=K_D/y$ were also calculated. In general the leading column diameter and radius of round cut were significant factors affecting $K_D$ and $P_{max}$ values while specimen diameter was not. The statistical analyses showed the $K_D$ had the best correlation with rut depth and dynamic stability. The next best correlation was found from $P_{max}$ which was followed by $P_{max}$/y and $K_I$ in order.
FLDWAV model was modified such that it can adequately simulate the effect of Jamsil and Singok submerged weirs in the main reach of the Han River. The enhanced model combines weir-type discharge equations for overflow at fixed weir and Manning equation for fluvial-type flow at the movable weir. Equations for weir overflow include those for submerged weir flow and free overflow. Gates of the movable weir may be open or closed for the simulation. In order to test the simulation capabilities, the enhanced model was applied for various flow conditions at submerged weirs. Backwater effect due to Jamsil and Singok submerged weirs were well simulated. Simulations were carried out for spring and neap tides extracted from artificial tide generated by combining $M_2\;and\;S_2$ tidal constituents. Simulation results cleared indicated that tidal effect extends further upstream as the flood discharge decreases. Low flow simulation capabilities of the enhanced model was tested. Discontinuities of water surface elevation due to the submerged weirs were successively simulated.

With population growth, industrialization, and urbanization within the watershed, the hydrologic response changed dramatically, resulting in increases in peak flow with lesser time to peak and total runoff with shortened time of concentration. Infiltration is directly affected by initial soil moisture condition, which is a key element to determine runoff. Influence of the initial soil moisture condition on hydrograph analysis should be evaluated to assess land use change impacts on runoff and non-point source pollution characteristics. The Long-Term Hydrologic Impact Assessment (L-THIA) model has been widely used for the estimation of the direct runoff worldwide. The L-THIA model was applied to the Little Eagle Creek (LEC) watershed and Its estimated direct runoff values were compared with the BFLOW filtered direct runoff values by other researchers. The $R^2$ value Was 0.68 and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient value was 0.64. Also, the L-THIA estimates were compared with those separated using optimized $BFI_{max}$ value for the Eckhardt filter. The $R^2$ value and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient value were 0.66 and 0.63, respectively. Although these higher statistics could indicate that the L-THIA model is good in estimating the direct runoff reasonably well, the Antecedent Moisture Condition (AMC) was not adjusted in that study, which might be responsible for mismatches in peak flow between the L-THIA estimated and the measured peak values. In this study, the L-THIA model was run with AMC adjustment for direct runoff estimation. The $R^2$ value was 0.80 and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient value was 0.78 for the comparison of L-THIA simulated direct runoff with the filtered direct runoff. However there was 42.44% differences in the L-THIA estimated direct runoff and filtered direct runoff. This can be explained in that about 80% of the simulation period is classified as 'AMC I' condition, which caused lower CN values and lower direct runoff estimation. Thus, the coefficients of the equation to adjust CN II to CN I and CN III depending on AMC condition were modified to minimize adjustments impacts on runoff estimation. The $R^2$ and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient values increase, 0.80 and 0.80 respectively. The difference in the estimated and filtered direct runoff decreased from 42.44% to 7.99%. The results obtained in this study indicate the AMC needs to be considered for accurate direct runoff estimation using the L-THIA model. Also, more researches are needed for realistic adjustment of the AMC in the L-THIA model.
To investigate the an air pollution by particulate matter and its dispersion, a cement plant produceing portland cement 600,000 ton/year and its vicinity were surveyed from Obtober, 1980 to April, 1983. The survey was mainly focused on main stack emmission rate of the cement plant and particle size distribution in the dust, dustfall and total suspended particulate concentration in the area by month and distance from the stack. The results of the study were as follows; 1. The main stack emission rate was surveyed before and after the spray tower was additionally installed to the original E.P bag filter. Before the spray tower installed, the main stack emission rate was higher ($0.64g/Nm^3$) than the emission standard of Korean Environmental Preservation Law's ($0.59g/Nm^3$, amended to $0.4g/Nm^3$ on April 1983), but after the spray tower was installed, its main stack emission rate was markedly decreased to the standard ($0.43g/Nm^3$). 2. $2{\sim}3{\mu}m$ of the particle size was the largest portion (20.8%) of the dust particulate from the main stack and 50% of the frequency distribution was $1.5{\mu}m$ of the size. Most particle size was below $10{\mu}m$. 3. The spray tower reduced the dustfall to $37.81{\sim}9.76\;ton/km^2/month$ while dustfall appeared at $45.29-15.45ton/km^2/month$, in the vicinity of plant before spray tower installed 4. Mean concentrations of total suspended particulate for 24 hours of the various stations were determined in $20.6-200.0{\mu}g/m^3$, 3 stations of tham were higher than the value of Harry and William's arthmetic average standard $130{\mu}g/m^3$. 5. Linear regression between dustfall [X] and total suspended particulate[Y] concentration was an equation, Y=4.024X+11.479.[r=0.91] 6. During the whole seasons in the opposite area 100m apart from the omission source the prevailing wind direction was with estimated more than $30ton/km^2/month$, and the concentration of total suspended particulate for 24 hours averaging time was more than $140{\mu}g/m^3$ in the same area and direction. 7. Assuming the wind direction were constant through the day dustfalls for a day were estimated at $13.40ton/km^2/day,\;10.79ton/km^2/day$ and $4.55ton/km^2/day$ at various distances of 100m, 500m and 1,500m from the emission source respectively. 8. In the simutalion of dustfall and suspended dust by area, Gaussian dispersion model modified by size distribution of particulate matter was not applicated since the emission of dust were from multi sources other them stack. From the above results, it could be applied that the dispersion of dust from the cement plant is estimated and regulated for the purpose of environmental protection.
