Design and Performance Analysis of Magnetic Resonant Wireless Power Transfer Receiver for Implant Medical Device (인체 삽입형 자기 공진 무선전력전송 수신기 설계 및 성능 분석)

  • In this study, we propose a suitable magnetic resonant wireless power transfer(WPT) system topology for size-limited implant medical devices(IMDs). The proposed modified series-parallel topology(mSPT) can be implemented by adding an inductor in series to the parallel-connected Rx coil and a capacitor. The topology achieves high efficiency when the Rx coil has a small inductance. The validity and operating conditions of the system are verified theoretically through circuit analysis. Experiments were conducted with bio-blocks, which are made of pork fat and muscle. When the Rx coils were inserted into the blocks at a depth of 2.5~10 mm, mSPT showed 17.79 % improved efficiency on average compared with the conventional series-series topology(SST). In the case of 32 dBm WPT in air, the Rx coil's heating rate for the mSPT was $0.18^{\circ}C/s$, whereas the SST was $0.75^{\circ}C/s$. It was confirmed that the mSPT is more suitable for an IMD-targeted WPT system.

A Study on the Allowable Bearing Capacity of Pile by Driving Formulas (각종 항타공식에 의한 말뚝의 허용지지력 연구)

  • The estimation of pile bearing capacity is important since the design details are determined from the result. There are numerous ways of determining the pile design load, but only few of them are chosen in the actual design. According to the recent investigation in Korea, the formulas proposed by Meyerhof based on the SPT N values are most frequently chosen in the design stage. In the study, various static and dynamic formulas have been used in predicting the allowable bearing capacity of a pile. Further, the reliability of these formulas has been verified by comparing the perdicted values with the static and dynamic load test measurements. Also in cases, these methods of pile bearing capacity determination do not take the time effect consideration, the actual allowable load as determined from pile load test indicates severe deviation from the design value. The principle results of this study are summarized as follows : A a result of estimate the reliability in criterion of the Davisson method, in was showed that Terzaghi & Peck > Chin > Meyerhof > Modified Meyerhof method was the most reliable method for the prediction of bearing capacity. Comparisons of the various pile-driving formulas showed that Modified Engineering News was the most reliable method. However, a significant error happened between dynamic bearing capacity equation was judged that uncertainty of hammer efficiency, characteristics of variable , time effect etc... was not considered. As a result of considering time effect increased skin friction capacity higher than end bearing capacity. It was found out that it would be possible to increase the skin friction capacity 1.99 times higher than a driving. As a result of considering 7 day's time effect, it was obtained that Engineering News. Modified Engineering News.   • An Automated Storage/Retrieval Systems(AS/RS) has been gradually emphasized because of the change of production and distribution environment. This paper develops algorithm and Shortest Distance Model that can reduce the traveling time of a stacker crane for efficient operation of AS/RS. In order to reduce the traveling time of a stacker crane, we determine the order processing and then the sequencing of storage/retrieval for each item. Order processing is determined based on the SPT(Shortest Processing Time) concept considering a criterion of retrieval coordinate. The sequencing of storage/retrieval is determined based on the Shortest Distance Model by using a modified SPP(Shortest Path Problem) of network problem. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the developed algorithm and Shortest Distance Model.

Determination of Wave Equation Soil Constants by Standard Penetration Test (표준관입시험을 통한 파동방정식 지반정수 산정법)

  • There are some previous studies on the determination wave equation soil constants by SPT. However, methods suggested in previous researches had such analytical defects as the non-uniqueness of solutions, long-time consuming in computation, and lacking of accuracy due to the limit of available point values in time domain. In this paper, a modified procedure is proposed to improve the accuracy of determination of wave equation soil constants. It is based upon the least-error approach which minimizes the sum of errors between the measured and the recalculated wave values in total time domain. Finally, its applicability was verified by analyzing measured data presented on the released references.

Properties of ZnO thin film grown on $Al_2O_3$ substrate pretremented by nitrogen ion beam (이온빔으로 질화처리된 사파이어기판위에 성장한 ZnO박막의 특성)

  • In this study, zinc oxide(ZnO) having large misfit(18.2%) with sapphire was tried to be grown on very thin nitride buffer layers. For the creation of various kinds of nitride buffer layer, sapphire surface was modified by an irradiation of nitrogen ion beam with low energy generated from stationary plasma thruster(SPT) at room temperature. After the irradiation of ion beam, Al-N and Al-O-N bonding was identified to be formed as nitride buffet layers. Surface morphology was measured by AFM and then ZnO growth was followed by pulsed laser deposition(PLD). Their properties are analyzed by XRD, AFM, TEM, and PL. We observed that surface morphology was improved and deep level emission related to defects was almost vanished in PL spectra from the ZnO grown on nitride buffer layer.

  • This paper describes the new method for Internet multicast routing protocols using MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) networks. Internet multicast routing protocols are divided into three categories in terms if tree types and tree characteristics : a shortest path tree a shared tree and hybrid tree types. MPLS should support various multicast mechanisms because of extremely different IP multicast architectures, such as uni-/bi-directional link, Flooding/prune tree maintenance mechanism. the existence of different tree types with the same group, etc. There are so many problems over MPLS multicast that the solutions can't be easily figured out. In this Paper, we make a few assumptions on which the solutions of IP multicast routing protocols over MPLS networks are given. A broadcasting label is defined for the shortest path tree types. Cell interleaving problems of the shared tree types is solved by using block-based transmission mechanism. Finally, the existing hybrid-type multicast routing protocol is reasonably modified Shortest Path tree type to support MPLS multicast. It has been shown that these modifications give better performance (transmission delay) than the orignal method.

Determination of Dynamic Modulus of cold In-place Recycling Mixtures with Foamed Asphalt (폼드아스팔트를 이용한 현장 상온 재생 아스팔트 혼합물의 동탄성계수 결정)

  • A new mix design procedure for cold in-place recycling using foamed asphalt (CIR-foam) has been developed for Iowa Department of Transportation. Some strengths and weaknesses of the new mix design parameters were considered and modified to improve the laboratory test procedure. Based on the critical mixture parameters identified, a new mix design procedure was developed and validated to establish the properties of the CIR-foam mixtures. As part of the validation effort to evaluate a new CIR-foam mix design procedure, dynamic moduli of CIR-foam mixtures made of seven different reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) materials collected throughout the state of Iowa were measured and their master curves were constructed. The main objectives of this study are to provide: 1) standardized testing procedure for measuring the dynamic modulus of CIR-foam mixtures using new simple performance testing (SPT) equipment; 2) analysis procedure for constructing the master curves for a wide range of RAP materials; and 3) impacts of RAP material characteristics on the dynamic modulus. Dynamic moduli were measured at three different temperatures and six different loading frequencies and they were consistent among different RAP sources. Master curves were then constructed for the CIR-foam mixtures using seven different RAP materials. Based upon the observation of the constructed master curves, dynamic moduli of CIR-foam mixtures were less sensitive to the loading frequencies than HMA mixtures. It can be concluded that at the low temperature, the dynamic modulus is affected by the amount of fines in the RAP materials whereas, at the high temperature, the dynamic modulus is influenced by the residual binder characteristics.

An Empirical Formula of Bearing Capacity on Prebored and Precast Steel Piles (강관 매입말뚝의 지지력 공식 제안)

  • In this study, a modified empirical formula for estimating the bearing capacity of the steel pipe prebored and precast pile was proposed by performing 20 cases of real-scale field pile loading tests. The proposed formula will be based on expanded SPT N-value in order to consider the realistic condition of the surrounding soil. The formula is proposed based on a statistic approach of the data points from the field pile loading test, in order to ensure safe engineering practice while finding a reliable formula. The statistical analysis of the data points from the loading test indicated that the existing formula has been underestimated the bearing capacity of the prebored and precast pile. The proposed formula estimates 15% and 20% higher pile End bearing capacity (qt=230Pdriven(kN/m2)) and the shaft resistance (fmax=3.0NsE(kN/m2)) compared to the existing formula. The accuracy and the stability of the proposed formula was verified by comparing the estimated results with additional field test data. The verification process showed that the proposed formula was estimated to be more accurate than the existing formula.
