  • In this paper, planar power dividers/combiners for millimeter waves K-band or bands which can be printed on the substrates of hybrid or monolithic IC by surface mounting are designed and studied. Power dividers/combiners, and the conductor loss of microstrip lines in particualr the existing Wilkinson power dividers/combiners is modified ad amployes by ist equivalent circuit. Microwave CAD program SUPEROMPACT is employed for the Wilkinson power combiner which is modified and analyzed to reduce the high frequency coupling between the branches of the combiner, and the method to diminish the sensitivity of the input reflection of $2^n$-way power dividers/combiners is studied employing the commerical microwave CAD program package SUPERCOMPACT.

  • In this paper, a 2 GHz tapered shape of multiport power divider/combiner modified from the model published by [10] and adopted PBG(Photonic Band Gap) structure is proposed. Parameters determining electrical property of the circuit structure have been analyzed by HFSS simulation. For input matching, balance of output signals and phase linearity at each output port, one circular hole has been etched out on the circuit surface. 1:2 and 1:3 power dividers/combiners designed by this study have been compared with the same circuits designed by the method of [10] in terms of S-parameters. As a result, it has been found that tile modified structure and PBG of power divider/combiner have improved return loss more than 20 dB and another 18 dB. respectively, at 2 GHz.

  • The use of consistent coastlines is an important element for the systematic management of maritime boundaries and the interests of local governments. The Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency conducted a preliminary survey for consistent coastline production, since 2001. As a result, the length of coastline was different by year. Because of the lack of systematic management, the use of incorrect data, etc. We also changed the coastline on the sea chart to show on a digital map for realization of terrain expression method. However, there was a variation in shoreline length due to various surveying techniques and shoreline extraction methods. In this paper, the characteristics of Jeju-do coastline were analysed by using a modified divider method of fractal dimension. The accuracy of the vectorization was determined by converting the actual distance in the Public Survey Amendment for proper divider use. With 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 digital maps of Jeju-si and Seogwipo-si each fractal dimensions were calculated. Jeju-si=1.14 and Seogwipo-si=1.12 in 1: 5,000. Jeju-si=1.13 and Seogwipo-si=1.10 in 1: 25,000. Calculated fractal dimension were correlated to data from digital maps. It was considered that complexity and scale of coastlines affected. In the future coastline length statistics and minimum ratio of calculated coastline length to original length need to be determined for consistency of coastline length statistics.

  • We assigned points on surface of standard roughness profile by 0.1mm along the length and measured coordinates of points. Then, the lengths of profile were measured with different scales using modified divider method. The fractal dimensions and intercepts of slopes were determined by plotting the length vs scale in log-log scale. The fractal dimensions as well as intercepts of slopes show well correlation with joint roughness coefficients(JRC). However, multiplication of the kactal dimension by intercept show better correlation with IRC and we derived a new equation to estimate JRC from fractal dimension and intercept. The crossover length in which we can determine the correct fractal dimension was between 0.3-3.2mm. We measured joint roughness of 26 natural joints and calculated JRC using the equation suggested by Tse and Cruden(1979) and new equation derived by us. IRC values calculated by both equations are almost the same, indicating new equation is effective in measuring IRC.
