  • This paper concerns with the problem of mixed model assembly sequencing using neural net. In recent years, because of two characteristics of it, massive parallelism and learning capability, neural nets have emerged to solve the problems for which more conventional computational approaches have proven ineffective. This paper proposes a method using neural net that can consider line balancing and grouping problems simultaneously. In order to solve the mixed model assembly sequencing of the motor industry, this paper uses the modified ART1 algorithm.

  • Gustav KJimt (l862-1916)was a pioneer in the field of painting and decorative art. He was severly critized by the art critics of the time because of his rebellous art style. He firmly believed that there should exist a new kind of art that should portray the essence of the new liberalized era and that shoud reveal the idea of an artist in his work. Klimt was an aesthetic who sought beauty in life. He represented man as a micro universe within the macro universe. In order to portray man's inner being and to depict the process of life and death in nature, he symbolically employed female entity as a medium. Through uses of the circles, triangles, rectangles, and the spiral forms in his paintings, Klimt symbolized the meanings of man and nature. The circle symbolizes the universe and female entity; the triangle, human being; the rectangle, the earth and male entity; and the spiral, a universal force that attracts the opposite poles. The highly decorative characteristic nature of Klint's paintings and murals has often been modified in the pattern design field. It has been applied to home-furnishings and apparel textile designs, stained glasses, tiles, and posters. The techniques and layouts of these designs have been modified so that they may suit their manufacturing processes. In general, these pattern designs have two spectrums. One is the kind of design that has faithfully carried out Klimt' s original painting style. The other is the kind that has extracted the essence from the Klimt' s original art work.

  • The modification of biodegradable polycaprolactone was accomplished by reactive extrusion with various contents of free radical initiator. Reaction conditions were in the temperature range of $130^{\circ}C$ to $180^{\circ}C$ with initiator contents of 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 1.0 wt%. To characterize the modified polycaprolactone (PCL), molecular weight was measured by gel permeation chromatography(GPC) and thermal, mechanical and rheological properties as well as biodegradability were measured. The modified PCL (MPCL) with 1% of initiator showed ca. 20% increase in crystallinity and ca. 50% increase in tensile modulus. Also, a large increase in rheological properties such as complex viscosity, storage and loss modulus was observed. The biodegradability of most MPCL was higher than that of virgin PCL.

  • This paper presents a fuzzy neural network model which solves the underutilization problem. This fuzzy neural network has both stability and flexibility because it uses the control structure similar to AHT(Adaptive Resonance Theory)-l neural network. And this fuzzy nenral network does not need to initialize weights and is less sensitive to noise than ART-l neural network is. The learning rule of this fuzzy neural network is the modified and fuzzified version of Kohonen learning rule and is based on the fuzzification of leaky competitive leaming and the fuzzification of conditional probability. The similarity measure of vigilance test, which is performed after selecting a winner among output neurons, is the relative distance. This relative distance considers Euclidean distance and the relative location between a datum and the prototypes of clusters. To compare the performance of the proposed fuzzy neural network with that of Kohonen Self-Organizing Feature Map the IRIS data and Gaussian-distributed data are used.

  • This study was conducted to examine the possibility of developing a drawing course in online education and to assess the satisfaction and dissatisfaction of students. The drawing class consisted of a conceptual understanding of the drawing, learning actual techniques and performing drawing tasks. This course was rated on the content satisfaction scale and the course evaluation scale when it was developed in 2014 and partially modified in 2016. Both the content satisfaction and lecture evaluation showed similar scores to the average for all subjects in the school. Specifically, 'organization of content' received good reviews, while 'interaction' received a low rating in the content satisfaction scale. Additionally, 'enthusiasm' and 'response sincerity of teacher' received high ratings, but 'overall satisfaction' was low in the course evaluation scale. Finally, the self-assessment of students was also low. These results indicate that students want more practice and more active interactions.

  • Behavior of soil is usually described with continuum type of failure models such as Mohr-Coulomb or Drucker-Prager model. The main advantage of these models is in a relatively simple and efficient way of predicting the main tendencies and overall behavior of soil in failure analysis of interest for engineering practice. However, the main shortcoming of these models is that they are not able to capture post-peak behavior of soil nor the corresponding failure modes under extreme loading. In this paper we will significantly improve on this state-of-the-art. In particular, we propose the use of a discrete beam lattice model to provide a sharp prediction of inelastic response and failure mechanisms in coupled soil-foundation systems. In the discrete beam lattice model used in this paper, soil is meshed with one-dimensional Timoshenko beam finite elements with embedded strong discontinuities in axial and transverse direction capable of representing crack propagation in mode I and mode II. Mode I relates to crack opening, and mode II relates to crack sliding. To take into account material heterogeneities, we determine fracture limits for each Timoshenko beam with Gaussian random distribution. We compare the results obtained using the discrete beam lattice model against those obtained using the modified three-surface elasto-plastic cap model.

  • This paper aims to improve the current state-of-the-art in long-term deflection prediction in steel-concrete composite beams. The efficiency of a time-dependent finite element model based on linear creep theory is verified with available experimental data. A parametric numerical study is then carried out, which focuses on the effects of concrete creep and/or shrinkage, ultimate shrinkage strain and reinforcing bars in the slab. The study shows that the long-term deformations in composite beams are dominated by concrete shrinkage and that a higher area of reinforcing bars leads to lower long-term deformations and steel stresses. The AISC model appears to overestimate the shrinkage-induced deflection. A modified ACI equation is proposed to quantify time-dependent deflections in composite beams. In particular, a modified reduction factor reflecting the influence of reinforcing bars and a coefficient reflecting the influence of ultimate shrinkage are introduced in the proposed equation. The long-term deflections predicted by this equation and the results of extensive numerical analyses are found to be in good agreement.

  • Due to the population growth of the old aged, Korea is also entering into an aging society. But a research on the pattern design to the old aged is much to be desired. The purpose of this research is to design skirt pattern fitted for each body type by categorizing the lower body type of the old aged woman. For the way of research, categorized the body type by using the female measuring size from the 65 years old to 99 years old which has been measured by the Korean body size research as an assay data, and base on this data, a suitable skirt pattern for each body type of the old aged woman was designed by practicing the exterior evaluation. The data analysis was done with the statistical treatment in SPSS 12.0, and the results are as follows. The lower body type of the old aged woman were divided into the type 1. The circumference article is the biggest compared to the height article regarding to the lower body type of the old aged woman. The type 2. The height article and the circumference and thickness articles are the poorest. The type 3. The height article is the biggest and the hip width and calf circumference are thicker than the waist width. The type 4. The height article is the lowest and the waist width is thicker instead the hip and leg are thinner. In type 1, The pattern was modified by increasing 1cm a length of the dart and raising up 1.2cm at the cross point between side line and waist line. In type 2, the basic pattern was used, and in type 3, using the outline of the basic pattern however, increased 1cm a length of the dart and modified the amounts of dart by handling the art in curve, and modified the waist line to be more three-dimensional curves by raising up 1 cm at the cross point between waist line and side line and falling down 0.5cm at the cross point between the back center line and the waist line. In type 4, modified the amounts of front and back dart to 1.25cm, and raised up 0.8cm at the cross point between side line and waist line, and modified the waist line and the side seam line in a gentle curve by reducing circumference of the skirt tail to 1cm from the side seam line.
