  • We analyze the effect of main inertial sensor errors such as, misalignment, scale factor error and bias on the performance of modified sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) for sequential fault detection and isolation (FDI). The inertial sensor errors cause the modified SPRT method to give false alarm. We use a two-stage KF to obtain a modified parity vector with which the inertial sensor errors can be removed and thus modified SPRT method can be used regardless of inertial sensor errors.

  • In this paper, we consider a modified inexact Newton method for solving a nonlinear system F(x) = 0 where $F(x):R^n{\rightarrow}R^n$. The basic idea is to accelerate convergence. A semi-local convergence theorem for the modified inexact Newton method is established and an affine invariant version is also given. Moreover, we test three numerical examples which show that the modified inexact scheme is more efficient than the classical inexact Newton strategy.

  • A method of recognizing objects is proposed that uses a concept of modified incremental circle transform. The modified incremental circle transform, which maps bundaries of an object into an unit circle, represnets efficiently the shape of the boundaries detected in digitized binary images of the objects. It is proved that modified incremental circle transform of object, which is invariant under object translation, rotation, and size, can be used as feature information for recognizing two dimensional polygonal object efficiently.

  • In this paper, we describe a modified fixed-threshold sequential minimal optimization (FSMO) for 1-slack structural support vector machine (SVM) problems. Because the modified FSMO uses the fact that the formulation of 1-slack structural SVMs has no bias, it breaks down the quadratic programming (QP) problems of 1-slack structural SVMs into a series of smallest QP problems, each involving only one variable. For various test sets, the modified FSMO is as accurate as existing structural SVM implementations (n-slack and 1-slack SVM-struct) but is faster on large data sets.

  • The flexural and compressive strengths of polymer-modified mortars containing FRP wastes were investigated. The specimens of polymer-modified mortars containing FRP mortat were perpared by using styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR) latex, ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA) emulsion and polyacrylic ester(PAE) emulsion with various FRP-sand ratios(10, 20, 30, 40, 50wt%). The compressive and flexural strengths of polymer-mokified mortars containing FRP wastes were decreased with an increase of FRP-sand ratio. But the compressive and flexural strengths of PAE polymer-modified mortar were more improved than OPC, whereas those of SBR and EVA polymer-modified mortars containing FRP wastes were decreased than OPC.

  • Zagreb indices and their modified versions of a molecular graph are important descriptors which can be used to characterize the structural properties of organic molecules from different aspects. In this work, we investigate some properties of the modified second multiplicative Zagreb index of graphs with given connectivity. In particular, we obtain the maximum values of the modified second multiplicative Zagreb index with fixed number of cut edges, or cut vertices, or edge connectivity, or vertex connectivity of graphs. Furthermore, we characterize the corresponding extremal graphs.

  • This paper presents a modified simulated annealing algorithm to optimize linear scheduling projects with multiple resource constraints and its effectiveness is verified with a proposed problem. A two-stage solution-finding procedure is used to model the problem. Then the simulated annealing and the modified simulated annealing are compared in the same condition. The comparison results and the reasons of improvement by the modified simulated annealing are presented at the end.

  • Among the etiologic factors of enamel corrosion, daily intake has been considered with a profound interest, especially the intake of acidic drinks. It is thought that the rapid consumption of acidic drinks will not only results in the affection to the teeth but also to the surface of the tooth-colored restorative materials. Therefore, the puopose of this study is to examine the alterations occurred in the surface of the tooth-colored materials according to the exposed time, with 3 most common acidic drinks in contact with daily life. Resin-modified glass-ionomer, polyacid-modified composite resin, composite resin were immersed on 0.9% NaCl, Coke, orange juice, sports beverages as 4 groups in each. The surface hardness and the surface roughness of specimens were measured with following methods: before immersion, 1 day after immersion, 1-,2-,3-,4- weeks after immersion. Results were as follows. 1. Tooth-colored restorative materials, with the exception of composite resin, showed statistically significant changes in surface hardness and roughness when immersed on acidic drinks(p<0.05). 2. The degree of change in surface hardness and roughness occurred as follows, in order of severity from greatest to least resin-modified glass-ionomer, polyacid-modified composite resin, composite resin 3. Sports beverages resulted in greater alterations to surfaces than Coke and orange juice. 4. In the SEM image of the groups immersed in acidic drinks, resin-modified glass-ionomer and polyacid-modified composite resin showed loss of filer. Severe cracks were observed, especially on the resin-modified glass-ionomer.

  • The Monkman-Grant (M-G) and its modified parameters were evaluated for type 316LN and modified 9Cr-Mo stainless steels prepared with minor element variations. Several sets of creep data for the two alloy systems were obtained by constant-load creep tests in 550~650$\^{C}$ temperature range. The M-G parameters, m, m', C, and C' were proposed and discussed for the two alloy systems. The m value of the M-C relation was 0.90 in type 316LN steel and 0.84 in modified 9Cr-Mo steel. The m' value of the modified relation was 0.94 in type 316LN steel and 0.89 in 9Cr-Mo steel. Although creep fracture modes and creep properties between type 316LN and modified 9Cr-Mo steels showed a basic difference, the M-G and its modified relations demonstrated linearity quite well. The m' of modified relation almost overlapped regardless of the creep testing conditions and chemical variations in the two alloy systems, and the parameter m' was closer to unity than that of the M-G relation.
