This thesis is the study on GuiLinGuBen "ShangHanZaBingLun"'s prescriptions which are totally 324, and unique 91 which are not written in current "ShangHanZaBingLun" and "JinKuiYaoLue", only in GuiLinGuBen "ShangHanZaBingLun". For modern clinacal effectiveness of GuiLinGuBen "ShangHanZaBingLun", this thesis clarifies the prescriptions' distinction between GuiLinGuBen, "ShangHanZaBingLun" and "JinKuiYaoLue". First it classifies prescriptions into 4 groups, which are only in GuiLinGuBen, in "ShangHanZaBingLun", in "JinKuiYaoLue", and in both "ShangHanZaBingLun" and "JinKuiYaoLue". Second it tabulates and describes in detail GuiLinGuBen's prescriptions about title, prescription composition, prescription volumetrin, decotion, and dosage. Third it catches distinctive characteristic of GuiLinGuBen's prescriptions by a comparative study which clarifies the differences of prescriptions between GuiLinGuBen, "ShangHanZaBingLun" and "JinKuiYaoLue". Current "ShangHanZaBingLun" and "JinKuiYaoLue"'s remedy focus on Shanghan and Jabbyong, so it has no choice but to have large remedy vaccum. The prescriptions only in GuiLinGuBen have same system with "ShangHanZaBingLun" and "JinKuiYaoLue"'s prescriptions, and contain unique Fever remover(淸熱劑) and Counterbalancer (補劑), so they could give more clinacal practice over "ShangHanZaBingLun" and "JinKuiYaoLue".

This study is about researching DongEuiBoGam by analysing with pattern identification of modern Traditional Korean medical patholgy as more logical, systematic and standardized theory. Disease pattern mechanisms of essence, spirit, qi and blood in NaeGyungPyeb of DongEuiBoGam are these. In Essence, this explain mechanism of disease patterns those are seminal emission, dream emission, spermatorrhea, white ooze. These disease pattern's mechanisms are kidney yang deficiency, kidney yin deficiency, heart yang deficiency, heart yin deficiency, heart qi deficiency, spleen qi deficiency and so on. On viewpoints of viscera and bowels they are related with heart, kidney, spleen. And most of them are deficiency from deficiency-excess Pattern Identification. Classifying disease pattern of qi is about upward, downward movement and more concentrated deficiency than excess pattern. Fright palpitations can be classified heart deficiency with timidity, heart blood and qi deficiency, heart qi deficiency, heart blood deficiency, heart qi movement stagnation, water qi intimidating the heart, phlegm-fire harassing the heart, phlegm clouding the pericardium, and so on. Palpitations can be classified heart blood deficiency, heart yin deficiency, heart deficiency with timidity, heart spleen blood deficiency, spleen qi deficiency, phlegm-fire harassing the heart, intense heart fire, and so on. Forgetfulness can be classified heart spleen blood deficiency, heart spleen qi deficiency, kidney essence deficiency, heart qi deficiency, non-interaction between the heart and kidney, etc. for deficiency pattern, phlegm clouding the pericardium for excess pattern. In Blood just say inside bleeding pattern's category, there are nose bleeding, flopping syncope, qi counterflow, blood vomiting, hemoptysis, spitting of blood, bloody stool, hematuria, and so on. Like these, this study identify pattern of disease in DongEuiBoGam by mechanism of disease theory.

The stress of modern society as the biggest areas of interest are being considered to be the cause of all disease. These stresses affect the brain, particularly in the unusual, the reduction of alpha-wave is that it happens. In this study, about the stress of alfa-wave EDT alternative medicine techniques to evaluate whether the positive impact is on. Application of the 10 minutes 2 times a week carried out two weeks with the following conclusions were protruding. Alternative Medicine EDT to apply techniques to stabilize the meaning of the EEG alpha and beta wave of the increase was reduced, showed no significant effect in reducing gamma-wave suggest that there is some help. Through these results, EDT alternative medicine technique stress in alfa-wave because of the significant effects in improving elementary school teachers on stress management and emphasizes the necessity of actively used.

Studies on normal human embryos and on malformed human hearts have been two main sources of the information on the developmental cardiology, Recent advances in the biological technology has opened a new era and descriptive embryology is being shifted into dynamic developmental biology. In this review, we discuss the current understanding on the cardiac embryology relevant to clinical practices of pediatric cardiology. Classical cardiac embryology starts with understanding on five segments of a straight heart tube : the sinus venosus, the primitive atria, the embryonic left ventricle, the embryonic right ventricle and the truncus arteriosus. Key steps in the normal morphogenetic process are the complex spiral septation of ventriculoarterial junction and two jumping connections : between the embryonic right atrium and embryonic right ventricle, and between the embryonic left ventricle and the aorta. Only after these two steps are successfully completed, the third fetal stage tak s place, when myocardial growth and remodeling take place There are two outstanding progresses on the cardiac embryology during recent five-year period. One is immunohistochemical mapping of the conduction system in the developing heart and the other is the understanding on the neural crest cell migration followed by molecular detection of the microdeletion of chromosome 22. A balanced progress of classical morphological studies, modern biological technics and advanced clinical medicine is an urgent task for doctors and scientists dealing with children with sick hearts.

The frequency of the hypertension is increasing as the life level is improved and an average span of the life is extended since we approached modern stage. The hypertension is also dangerous disease which raises fatal complication for example with the bleeding aproplexy and the ischemic attack. The medicinal treatment about the hypertension is required patients to take continually. The acupuncture have been introduced because a medicine-chemical treatment hasn't good influence on the human body. It recently has been processed that studies acupuncture effect for blood pressure and have been found out that blood pressure go down. The object of this study observe the effect of LR3 acupuncture on hypertension in Renal Hypertension RAT induced by 2K1C. The 2K1C model was based on renin-angiotensin system. We put the silver clip in renal artery to induce renal hypertension. We try to observe that LR3 acupuncture influence on the blood pressure and c-fos expression in CVLM, NTS, RVLM. In results, the blood pressure was decreased during acupuncture than before acupuncture, after acupuncture. The heart rate was also decreased during acupuncture than before acupuncture, after acupuncture. The LR3 acupuncture significantly effects on blood pressure and heart rate (P<0.05). The increased expression of c-fos was shown in CVLM, NTS, but not in RVLM. In conclusion, LR3 was relived the action of control upon the hypertension and related with medulla, particularly CVLM, NTS. It needs to be closely examined pharmacological mechanism and studied combination with other acupoints.

Objectives : Amnesia is theloss or impairment of memory, caused by physical injury, disease, drugs, or emotional trauma. Recently, the average life span is increasing, while at the same time, the incidence of dementia-like diseases in conjunction with amnesia are also increasing. Therefore learning and memory are very important issues in modern society. Ancient Korean physicians used several herbs to treat dementia and these herbal effects were described in Korean herbal books. Among them are some reports on several cognitive-enhancing herbs which have since been shown to improve dementia in recent pharmacological studies, such as Panax ginseng; however, the facilitatory effects of many Korean cognitive-enhancing herbs on learning and memory are limited. Learning and memory are essential requirements for every living organism in order to cope with environmental demands; cholinergic systems are known to be involved in learning and memory. Methods : In this study, the effects of Acori graminei rhizoma (AGR, 石菖蒲) on learning and memory were investigated by Morris water maze, eight-arm radial maze, and the effects on the central cholinergic system of rats injected with scopolamine. Results : In the water maze, the experimental animals were trained to find a platform in a fixed position for 6 days and then received a 60 sec probe trial in which the platform was removed from the pool on the 7th day. In the eight-arm radial maze, the animals were tested four times per day for 6 days. Scopolamine impaired performance of the maze tests and reduced activity of acetylcholinesterase (AchE) in the hippocampus, which is a marker for the central cholinergic system. There were significant reversals from the scopolamine-induced deficits on learning and memory in these tests, through daily administrations of AGR (100 mg/kg, p.o.) over 14 consecutive days. These treatments also reduced the loss of cholinergic activity in the hippocampus induced by scopolamine. Conclusions : These results demonstrated that AGR ameliorated learning and memory deficits by affecting the central acetylcholine system.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to analyze the history of nursing and medicine as phenomena of knowledge/power from the viewpoint of Foucault. Method : The present study adopts the genealogical method by Foucault, which tries to unite languages and knowledge. Foucault who attempted to show that the basic ideas which people normally take to be permanent truths about human nature and society change in the course of history. Results : It has been emphasized that the development of modern health care has been due to the progressive efforts of medicine and to medical discoveries. Foucault examines the institutionalization of knowledge and the power exerted thereby, with special reference to the devices of social regulation and their function over the madness, the disease, the crime, and the sexuality. The concept of power is that it is exerted spontaneously in verbal behaviors of individuals through knowledge of everyday life such as definition of body or mind. Therefore as to the problem of knowledge/power, this study tries to understand the meaning of history of nursing and medicine through an analysis of the formation of text of history. In order to have authority in a power relation, the medical professional asserts that medical discourse is the most scientific knowledge. Conclusion : According to the above findings, it can be concluded that the body is also directly invested in a political field: power relations have an immediate hold upon it; they invest it, mark it, train it, torture it, force it to carry out tasks, to perform ceremonies, to emit signs. Therefore the devaluation of nursing care is reinforced by the medicine which has the legitimate authority through use of the political skills about the body.

Purpose: To analyze the newly developed vacuum assisted auto-lancing technique applied to the forearm for the purpose of obtaining an adequate blood sample for glucose test with minimal pain. Methods: Visual and facial pain measures were introduced to compare lancing pain between the forearm and fingertip in 58 normal females. Sampled blood volumes were accurately measured by computer scanning technique. Results: Visual pain measure demonstrated significant pain reduction effect of the forearm sampling compared with the traditional fingertip sampling, which was also consistent with facial pain measure results. Blood volume more than $0.5{\mu}L$, enough for blood glucose testing with modern glucometers, was collected in 399(86%) of 464 forearm samples. Conclusions: Capillary blood sampling could be performed with minimal pain on the forearm by the newly developed vacuum assisted auto-lancing technique. With some resampling when necessary, the forearm sampling seemed very useful, considering almost no pain felt by the patients.

Hae-Yong Shin was a renowned merchant during the transitional period from Korean Imperialism to Japanese Occupation, and devoted his life during the period of Japanese Occupation as a proponent of patriotic enlightenment movement and translator. He also authored many medical and scientific works; in particular, he integrated the modern Western medicine into the Korean herbal medicine in his writings. His early works include New Edition of Natural History (1907), Physiology published in six series in the YaRoe, a magazine for the patriotic enlightenment movement, and the New Edition of Zoology (1908). These writings are assumed to have deepened Shin's knowledge of and insights into human and animal physiologies and anatomies. In the Danbang-Biyo-Gyeongheom-Shinpyeon (1913), he sought to incorporate the aspects of the Western medicine while mainly adopting the approach of the Korean herbal medicine. While keeping the contents and formations of Donguibogam, he recorded many empirical prescriptions and deleted theories incomprehensible for the general population, shamanic prescriptions, and poisonous and deadly ingredients. Its most salient features are the use of the Korean vernacular script for explications and simple ingredients for prescriptions. As medicinal materials, he presented commonly found low-cost native ingredients easily obtainable and affordable for. In the disciplines of childbirth, childbearing, and first aid, he adopted Western medical treatments. Danbangshinpyeon is particularly significant in that it contributed to public health by spreading practical basic medical knowledge in the vernacular script easily applicable at home in difficult situations for obtaining medical services under the Japanese colonial rule.

This thesis, deduced from studying eastern and western medical records, deals with geriatric demedtia in modern society. The result were obtained as follows : 1. Dementia is a kind of chronic, progressive, degenerative disease. The chief expression and pathogenic change of the disease is organic: e.g., extensive change such as cerebrum - atrophy, and denaturalization result. in such a situation intellectual capacities and the ability to enjoy daily life deteriorate trenendously. 2. A basic internal cause of the disease is Defficiencies of the heart, liver and kidneys. An exterior cause is an Excessiveness of the 'Dam'(痰), 'Blood Stasis', 'Fung'(風) and 'Fire'. In a Western Medical view, the reason for dementia is due to the onset of Alzheimer's disease and Brain anemia resulting from Multi - infarction or some other reason. If the white - matter of the brain is injured, then dementia easily to results. 3. Disease symptoms result in troubles in intellectual functions : e.g., memory, orientation, intelligence, judgement, common sence and calculating abilities. 4. The proper therapeutic treatment depends on the causes. When the Deficiency is serious, Fortification (heart, liver. and kidney deficiency) is applied and Decrease is follow. When Excessiveness of wrong is serious, the Decrease is tried before the supplement measure is used depending on the deficiency, which generally is used together with 'Fortify Right - Decreace Wrong'. 5. If the disease wasn't caused by some mental reason, it's difficult to be cured of the disease. When the degree of the disease is light and it doesn't continue for a long time, the therapeutic treatment can block the disease's progress and improve the patient's symptoms.
