Determinants of Hospital Nurse Burnout: The Moderating Role of Supervision

  • Health care has become a rapidly growing industry where the role of nurses as a group of emotional labor employees is central and prone to burnout. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of supervision in moderating burnout caused by the effect of work intensity, customer contact, and self-efficacy, where the moderating role of supervision on burnout with its various predictors is still unstable. This quantitative study was based on research samples collected through questionnaires from 131 hospital nurses spread over two different locations. The questionnaire asked about supervision, work intensity, customer contact, self-efficacy and burnout used a Likert scale, which was then analyzed using SEM-PLS. The results indicated that work intensity and self-efficacy had a significant effect on burnout, while customer contact had no significant effect on burnout. Supervision as a moderator only significantly moderates the effect of work intensity on burnout, while supervision is not significant as a moderating variable on the effect of customer contact and self-efficacy on burnout. This study can contribute to the development of theories about burnout and practically can be used as a reference by policy makers in enhancing the role of supervision for nurses in hospitals.

Linking Intrinsic Motivation to Employee Creativity: The Role of Empowering Leadership

  • This research aimed to explore the relationship between the challenge and enjoyment dimensions of intrinsic motivation and employee creativity at an individual level. Besides, the study focused on investigating the moderating role of empowering leadership in promoting employee creativity at work. In particular, in the context of Vietnam's electricity industry, the power generation stage faces significant challenges, forcing to innovate and restructure strongly to respond flexibly to the requirements of the electricity market development in Vietnam as well as gradually integrate with other countries in Southeast Asia. The authors used structural equations modeling (SEM) combined with Hayes' moderator variable analysis method (2017) based on primary data. The data included 550 questionnaires from technicians, engineers, and experts directly involved in the operation and production of 36 power generation businesses Vietnam. The results showed the relationship between the enjoyment dimension of intrinsic motivation and employee creativity is not statistically significant, which partly explains the instability of the link between intrinsic motivation and employee creativity. Meanwhile, the challenge dimension is positively associated with employee creativity, but this relationship is more robust in empowering leadership. The study also indicated the challenge dimension of intrinsic motivation is an important predictor of employee creativity.

The Effect of Tax Planning on Firm Value: A Case Study in Vietnam

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of tax planning on firm value of the non-financial firms listed in Vietnam, moderated by the state ownership. In this paper, effective tax rate is used to measure the tax planning; the state ownership is measured by the percentage of state equity holdings, and the firm value is measured by Tobin's Q. The data research is collected from audited financial statements and other statistical documents of 513 firms in the period of 2015-2019, provided by The FiinGroup (Vietnam). According to that, this paper uses quantitative research methods for the panel data. Regression analysis with GLS shows that the tax planning has a negative effect on firm value. In more detail, the association is not a variable in its direction when state ownership takes the role of a moderator. That means, in the perspective of principal-principal conflict, government should improve institutional environment to prevent firms form breaking the rules, especially accounting standards and principles. Assets allocation in tangible assets or making use of large size advantage should be taken into account. In the long run, firms should concentrate on the deployment of resources and the experience of knowledgeable practitioners to produce effective results.

The Nexus between Capital Structure and Firm Value by Profitability Moderation: Evidence from Saudi Arabia

  • The current study examines the nexus between the capital structure (debt-equity) and firm value (Tobin's Q) by including profitability (alternatively Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE)) as a moderator in the companies of Saudi Arabia. The study sample consists of 102 companies listed on Tadawul (the Saudi Arabian stock exchange) from different sectors of Saudi Arabia during the period 2013 to 2020. The study estimates pooled regression, panel regression with fixed and random effects, and dynamic panel regression models to report the results. The study results report that there is a negative and significant association between capital structure and firm value in model 1, while in models 2 and 3 there is a more negative and significant impact between the two study variables compared to model 1 after the inclusion of interaction variable, i.e. profitability in terms of ROA and ROE. The comparative result shows that the companies of Saudi Arabia hold more debt in their capital structure mix, hence evidencing a decrease in the firm value. The reported results also show that models 2 and 3 are better in explaining the impact of capital structure on firm value due to the interaction of profitability compared to model 1.

Push-Pull-Mooring 모델을 이용한 전기자동차로의 사용자 전환의도에 관한 연구 (A Study on User Conversion Intention to Electric Vehicle Using Push-Pull-Mooring Model)

  • This research will study the conversion intention of the users in China from fuel vehicle to new energy vehicles through the empirical methods. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted with car users as the object, combined with the theory of user migration and the PPM model to analyze the impact of fuel vehicle users' conversion intention to new-energy vehicles factor. The results showed that purchase experience contains the moderating effect, in which perceived risk and switching costs had a greater impact on the groups without purchase experience, whereas social identity, perceived value, personal attitude, and willingness to switch had a greater impact on groups with the purchase experience. Among all five factors, perceived risk had no discernible impact on the switching intention, but social identity, perceived value, attitude toward switching, and switching costs all had discernible impact on the switching intention. This study expects to come out with sustainable advises for the future growth of new energy vehicles from the study of car users' switching intention and the collective difference test of purchasing experience.

서비스직 근로자의 고객응대업무와 프리젠티즘: 상사 지지의 조절효과 (Exploring Interaction between Interactive Services and Presenteeism of Korean Service Workers: The Moderating Effects of Supervisor Support)

  • Purpose: This study delves into the relationship between interactive services and presenteeism among Korean service workers, aiming to discern the moderating effects of supervisor support on the relationship. Methods: Utilizing secondary data from the sixth Korean Working Conditions Survey, involving 7,628 service workers, this study conducted logistic moderated regression analysis to scrutinize the moderating effects of supervisor support on the relationship between interactive services and presenteeism. Results: Approximately 10% of workers experienced presenteeism in the previous 12 months. Females, low-educated, elderly, those working long hours, and low-wage workers were more likely to perceive presenteeism. Notably, a statistically significant U-shaped curvilinear relationship was observed between interactive service duration and presenteeism. The results also underscore the moderating role of supervisory support in shaping the relationship between interactive services and presenteeism. Conclusion: The study highlights the significance of supervisor interest and support in promoting workers' health, thereby not only improving the wellbeing of individual workers but also fostering organizational productivity by reducing presenteeism.

문화관광지 선택속성에 대한 세분시장별 여행만족도에 관한 연구: Fisher's Z값을 활용한 조절효과를 중심으로 (A Study on Travel Satisfaction for Segmented Groups of Cultural Destination Attributes)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 문화목적지 선택속성 추출과 집단별 시장세분화를 통해 문화목적지 선택속성과 여행만족도와의 영향관계 및 차이를 비교하는 것이다. 본 조사를 위한 설문은 기존 문헌연구와 데이터를 기초로 하여 개발되었으며, 설문조사는 부여와 공주지역을 중심으로 실시하였다. 연구결과에서는 문화목적지 선택속성이 6개로 추출되었으며, 군집분석에서는 3개의 그룹으로 세분화되었다. 다중회귀분석에서는 3개의 세분화된 집단과 여행 만족간의 관계를 알아보고자 Fisher's Z 값을 이용하였으며, 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문화 목적지 선택속성은 여행 만족도에 영향을 주는 요인으로 밝혀졌으며, 선택속성요인은 3개의 시장으로 세분화되었다. 둘째, 문화목적지 선택속성으로 세분화된 3개의 그룹은 여행 만족도에 영향을 주는 것으로 조사되었다. 따라서 세분화된 그룹 간 문화목적지 선택속성의 선택이 다르게 분석되었으며, 이와 관련한 문화관광을 하는 관광객들을 위한 상품과 서비스를 차별화 할 수 있는 마케팅적 정책과 방법을 강구하여야 할 것으로 보여진다.

맞벌이 기혼남녀의 일-가정 갈등이 행복감에 미치는 영향에서 가족건강성의 조절효과 (Moderating Effect of Family Strengths on the Effect of Work-Family Conflict on Happiness in Dual-Income Married Couples)

  • This study aimed to explore the moderating effect of family strengths on the effect of work-family conflict on happiness in dual-income married couples. This study included 316 married employees who live in Seoul and have children attending junior high or lower grade schools. A survey was conducted December 1-30, 2018 by distributing questionnaires to child care centers, kindergartens, schools, companies, religious institutions, and other locations. The results are follows. First, in this study, the degree of family→work conflict was higher than that of work→family conflict in dual-income married couples, indicating that role conflict at work is greater due to family role pressures. Second, among the socio-demographic characteristics of dual-career couples, monthly income, family→work conflict (an independent variable), and family problem-solving skills (a moderating variable; a subcategory of family strengths) had a significant impact. In the analysis of the effect of work-family conflict on happiness, the higher the monthly income, the lower the family→work conflict, and the higher the family problem solving ability, the higher the feeling of happiness among dual-income married couples. When the work role conflicts from family life roles were more highly perceived in dual-income married couples. Moreover, family→work conflict and an interaction term of family problem-solving ability were identified as variables that had significant effects on happiness. Third, family problem-solving ability was identified as a moderator buffering the effect of work-family conflict on happiness.

호텔종사원의 셀프리더십이 직무만족, 고객지향성에 미치는 영향 관계 연구: 조직몰입의 조절효과를 중심으로 (An Empirical Study on Self-leadership, Job Satisfaction and Customer Orientation of Employees in Hotel Industry: Moderating Role of Organizational Commitment)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 호텔종사원의 셀프리더십, 직무만족 그리고 고객지향성에 대한 상관관계를 규명하기 위해 실시되었다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 셀프리더십을 독립변수로, 직무만족과 고객지향성을 종속변수로 그리고 조직몰입을 조절변수로 설정하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 셀프리더십은 직무만족에 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 셀프리더십은 고객지향성에 영향을 주었다. 셋째, 직무만족은 고객지향성에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 넷째, 조직몰입은 셀프리더십과 고객지향성 사이에서 조절역할이 있음이 나타났다. 그리하여 호텔산업에서 조직유효성 즉 직무만족, 고객지향성 그리고 조직몰입을 증진시키기 위해 셀프리더십이 필요하다는 결론을 얻었다. 향후 연구를 위한 시사점과 제언을 제시하였다.

빅데이터 기술수용의 초기 특성 연구 - 기술이용자 및 기술활용자 측면의 조절효과를 중심으로 (A Study on Initial Characterization of Big Data Technology Acceptance - Moderating Role of Technology User & Technology Utilizer)

  • 빅데이터와 관련 기술에 대하여 학계, 산업계, 공공의 관심이 크지만 아직까지 빅데이터 기술수용에 대하여 체계적으로 연구된 사례는 매우 드물다. 본 연구는 국내 초기 시장인 빅데이터 기술수용 연구를 위해 기술수용모델(TAM)을 중심 틀로 혁신확산이론(Innovation Diffusion Theory) 및 과업기술적합성(Task Technology Fit)이론을 통합적으로 활용하여 연구모형을 설정하였으며 빅데이터 기술 수용의 목적성을 기술수용모델의 조절변인으로 확장하였다. 연구결과 '주관적 규범'과 '과업기술적합성'이 TAM의 외생변인으로 가장 크게 영향을 가졌으며 기술기반의 새로운 서비스나 상품을 기획하고 개발하고자 하는 목적의 '기술활용자' 집단에게 '조직의 혁신성향'은 기술의 수용의도에 영향을 미치는 유의한 외생변인이나 단순히 기술을 이용하고자 하는 '기술이용자' 집단에게는 오히려 '주관적 규범'이 영향력을 가진 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 매개효과 검증에서도 유의한 차이점이 검증되었다.
