This study was conducted to explore the relationship between stress and the quality of life experienced by people with disabilities and to provide essential data for improving their quality of life and promoting their health. The data collection period was from November 2023 to January 2024. Fifty questionnaires were distributed, and 48 copies were used, excluding unfaithful responses. As a result of the study, since people with moderate disabilities show hesitancy in all of their daily life processes, not only physical rehabilitation but also psychological rehabilitation should be necessary so that they can accept their bodies that have turned into disabilities. In addition, programs for the acceptance of disabilities for people with moderate disabilities should be designed to recover more widely. In the future, education and psychological programs should be activated to overcome the symptoms of moderate disability and receive related information. Finally, disability awareness education should be further subdivided to bring about changes in the perception of disabilities.
This study aims to analyze the effects of the social capital of wage workers with acquired disabilities on organizational commitment, depending on the degree of their disabilities. The survey included 187 people with severe acquired disabilities and 606 people with moderate acquired disabilities, who participated in the 8th (2015) panel survey of employment for the disabled. Multiple regression analysis was performed: the results identified that the official network activity increased for people with both severe and moderate acquired disabilities and contributed to the improvement of organizational commitment. Further, women had a significant influence on organizational commitment. In the case of people with severe acquired disabilities, it was also found that, as social participation increased, organizational commitment decreased. In the case of people with moderate acquired disabilities, individuals who were healthier, more regular workers, and had higher qualifications had a greater positive the impact on the organizational commitment. Based on the results of this study, ways to increase social capital and organizational commitment of wage earners with severe and moderate acquired disabilities are suggested.
Purpose: This study examined family function and self-esteem among young and middle-aged adults with physical disabilities. Methods: The subjects of this study consisted of 116 adults with physical disabilities. Data were collected from 4 Community rehabilitation centers in C area from October to November 2008. All subjects were questioned about family function and self-esteem by the APGAR scale and the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale. SPSS/WIN 12.0 was used for descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. Results: Subjects had a moderate level of family function (5.31) and self-esteem (28.13). There were significant differences of family function according to age, monthly income, economic status, and disability site. There were significant differences in self-esteem according to age, gender, monthly income, and economic status. The level of family function and income were related to self-esteem. Conclusion: These findings suggest that there is a necessity to improve family function and self-esteem among young and middle-aged adults with physical disabilities. Nursing interventions should take into account the role of family function in promoting self-esteem in people with physical disabilities.
Purpose: This study was to describe the burden of aged parents caring for adult children with disabilities and related factors. Methods: The subjects were 123 caregivers aged over 65 who were caring for 18-year-old or older children with disabilities. The research tool of this study was a structured questionnaire on family burden. Data were collected from June 3 to 25, 2010, and analyzed by Cronbach's alpha, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and ANOVA using SAS 9.2 program. Results: The major findings of this study were as follows. Elderly parents caring for adult children with disabilities perceived a moderate level of burden. The burden from concern over their children's future was highest, and economic and physical burdens were higher when the parents were younger. Burden was significantly different according to parents' characteristics such as gender, perceived health status, disease, the costs of caring for disabled children, and children's characteristics such as disability rating, health status, and ADL. Conclusion: In order to reduce the burden of elderly parents caring for adult children with disabilities, we need to improve their health status and assess comprehensive policies.

This study aims to identify the obstacles to using interactive whiteboards for teachers of students with learning disabilities (LDs) in the Makkah region and to delineate any differences in the levels of these obstacles that can be attributed to the study variables: teachers' gender, academic qualifications, age, and years of experience. The researchers applied the descriptive survey approach to a sample of 123 teachers of LD students. To analyze the results, frequencies, averages, standard deviations, and relative weights were calculated. The results of the study indicated that the levels of the obstacles to using interactive whiteboards for teachers of LD students were moderate. No statistically significant differences in the levels of these obstacles were related to the variables of gender or age, whereas significant differences were found based on academic qualifications and years of experience.
This study explored how young people with disabilities experience self-determination in their lives. This study employed a grounded theory approach involving 10 undergraduate students with cerebral palsy or physical disabilities, in their early 20's, and individual interviews. The experience relating self-determination of the participants seemed to start with "wanting to do things at their will as they grow up". The participants reported experiencing "yearning to attain self-actualization overcoming disabilities" in the context of "disability-related social limitation", "divided opinions between the participants and their parents", and "limitation in financial and psychological resources". The emerging strategies to attain self-actualization included "active coping", "avoiding confrontation", and "conditional acceptance". Intervening conditions to formation of the strategies included ”challenging spirits towards prejudice about disability", "autonomous tendencies", "taking the most of social support" and "parenting attitudes of their parents". In the process of seeking to attain self-actualization, these participants experienced "self-maturation" and "the sense of guilt towards their parents". The findings emerged from the study was that there are three stages in the process young people went through in self-determination. The stages consist of "perceiving their needs and obstacles for self-determination", "problem solving", and "perceiving their growth". In addition, four self-determination patterns are derived from this data: "breaking through", "multi-strategic", "moderate", and "acceptive". This study suggested some theoretical and prctical implications needed to facilitate self-determination of youth with disabilities.

Resultingly a total of 13 studies were eligible base upon the inclusion criteria. The mean effect sizes and test for homogeneity of effect size (Q-statistic) were analyzed by using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Software 2.0. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, the average effect sizes for drama program for people with developmental disabilities were ES= 0.8335 for sociality, ES= 0.6512 of self-expression. Second, by analysing the moderate variables of the effect size for drama program for people with developmental disabilities, 'age', 'the number of session' 'the type of drama program', 'the major of drama director' were statistically significant. The research and practice implications of drama programs for people with developmental disabilities in Korea were suggested.
It is very important for rehabilitation to deal with psychological aspects of persons with disabilities, as well as efforts improving the institutional and environmental conditions. A majority of persons with severe disabilities in the situation of Korea have difficulty in having and maintaining a job. Work should and would be a source of self-respect and material well-being in this modern society. Therefore, Vocational rehabilitation services are measures in restoration of family functions and social participation of persons with disabilities. This study aims at investigating linguistic characteristics and the validity of constructional concepts of picture interest test Inventories that have been utilized for the segregated groups of people such as persons with developmental disabilities. Picture interest test inventories seemed to be valid for measuring psychological traits and characteristics of people with mental retardation, and this finding can be extended to the group of other developmental disabilities, such as learning disabilities and mild/moderate behavioral deficits. The Holland classification system seemed to be best fitted for developing a comprehensive and accurate vocational interest inventory.
In this research, the effect of serious game on the task performance of adolescents with intellectual disabilities was investigated. A total of 31 students participated in a pre-post-with-control-group-design study. Results indicate that among the high-, moderate-, and low- ability students, the moderate-ability students gained the most from the game, in both speed and accuracy. From the results we can understand that game-based training has the most effect on the moderate level students. Also, the findings of this study show that serious games can be effective training tools for this population.
