  • In order to control the transient torsional vibration of rotational shaft system, the torsional stiffness of it has been taken into account in modelling the plant. In this paper the observer and controller has been designed in two ways. One is to consider the torsional stiffness and the other is to idealize the rotational shaft as rigid body. The third order observer considering torsional stiffness shows stable response on computer simulation. When the observer is designed on assumption of the rotational shaft being rigid body, the reduced order observer shows stable response whereas the full order observer shows unstable response.

  • In this paper, three species stage-structured predator-prey model with time delayed and periodic constant impulsive perturbations of predator at fixed times is proposed and investigated. We show that the conditions for the global attractivity of prey(pest)-extinction periodic solution and permanence of the system. Our model exhibits a new modelling method which is applied to investigate impulsive delay differential equations. Our results give some reasonable suggestions for pest management.

  • This paper treats the conditions for the existence of rotating wave solutions of a system modelling the behavior of students in graduate programs at neighbouring universities near each other which is a modified form of the model proposed by Scheurle and Seydel. We assume that both types of individuals are continuously distributed throughout a bounded two-dimension spatial domain of two types (circle and annulus), across whose boundaries there is no migration, and which simultaneously undergo simple (Fickian) diffusion. We will show that at a critical value of a system-parameter bifurcation takes place: a rotating wave solution arises.

  • This paper discusses approximation modelling of discrete-time linear time-varying system(LTVS). The wavelet theory and genetic algorithm are considered as a tool for representing and approximating a LTVS. The joint time-frequency properties of wave analysis are appropriate for describing the LTVS. Simulation results is included to illustrate the potential application of the technique.

  • In this paper we propose the resolved motion controller using a neural network for a robot manipulator. Neural identifier designed by a neural network is trained by using a feedback force as an error signal. The identifier approximates the output of a unknown nonlinear system by monitoring both the input and the output of this system. If the neural network is sufficiently trained well, it does not require either strict modelling of the manipulator or precise parameter estimation. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is demonstrated by computer simulation using a two-link planar robot.

  • In [1], we studied the PDE system with time-varing delay. Time delay occurs due to loosening in a high-speed moving axially directed membrane (string, belt, or plate) at production. Our purpose in this work derives a mathematical model with internal time delay. First, we consider the physical phenomenon of axially moving membrane with respect to kinetic energy, potential energy and work done. By the energy conservation law in physics, we get the second order nonlinear PDE system with internal time delay.

  • As business environment and complex work conditions are rapidly changing, large financial institutions are doing research on various fields to build a system that will efficiently and accurately process the production and modification of financial information and minimize the error in data-processing. In this paper, we have built a metadata system that, among various research areas, gives stability, accuracy and convenience in financial data modelling, analyze its effect and when adapting new models, provide mapping information from existing model to efficiently connect models and databases. If we manage modelling and standard data through this metadata system, the data standardization and database can process the model modification work in an unitary system and consistent high quality data model can be maintained and managed when data modification occurs.
