  • Modelling theory, based on differential equations, is not an adequate tool for solving the problems of complex system. Identification of complex system using GMDH(group method of data handling) is more appropriate for this problems. In this paper, GMDH algorithm is used to identify the nonlinear plant and to design model following nonlinear control system. Simulation for the DC motor show the good performance of model following nonlinear control system.

  • NARX(Nonlinear AutoRegressive with eXogenous input) neural network was used for prediction of nuclear reactor behavior which was influenced by control rods in short-term period and also by the concentration of xenon and boron in long-term period in load following operations. The developed model was designed to predict reactor power, xenon worth and axial offset with different burnup states when control rods and boron were adjusted in load following operations. Data of the Korea Next Generation PWR were collected by ONED94 code. The test results presented exhibit the capability of the NARX neural network model to capture the long term and short term dynamics of the reactor core and the developed model seems to be utilized as a handy tool for the use of a plant simulation.

  • This paper proposes a fault-tolerant control strategy with finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) based on hierarchical optimization for five-level H-bridge neutral-point-clamped (5L-HNPC) inverter-fed induction motor drives. Fault-tolerant operation is analyzed, and the fault-tolerant control algorithm is improved. Adopting FCS-MPC based on hierarchical optimization, where the voltage is used as the controlled objective, called model predictive voltage control (MPVC), the postfault controller is simplified as a two layer control. The first layer is the voltage jump limit, and the second layer is the voltage following control, which adopts the optimal control strategy to ensure the current following performance and uniqueness of the optimal solution. Finally, simulation and experimental results verify that 5L-HNPC inverter-fed induction motor drives have strong fault tolerant capability and that the FCS-MPVC based on hierarchical optimization is feasible.

  • This paper studies a variable structure adaptive model following control system which can control a plant in which the parameters of the controlled plant can not be estimated because they vary with time and in which the controlled plant has noise. The values of the feedback gain matrices for given states are obtained the equivalent control law, and the adaptive controller has been designed using the adaptive mechanism which switches the matrices. The adaptive controller minimizes the state error vector, that is, the difference between the state vector of the model and the state vector of the controlled plant. A controlled plant which has time varying parameters, a controlled plant which has only noise, and a controlled plant which has both have been controlled by the designed adaptive controller. The continuous single input-output system has been analysed by computer. This control system may be used to control practical systems by the addition of a microcomputer.

  • In this paper an effective direct torque control (DTC) and stator flux control is developed for a quasi six-phase induction motor (QIM) drive with sinusoidally distributed windings. Combining sliding-mode (SM) control and adaptive input-output feedback linearization, a nonlinear controller is designed in the stationary reference frame, which is capable of tracking control of the stator flux and torque independently. The motor controllers are designed in order to track a desired second order linear reference model in spite of motor resistances mismatching. The effectiveness and capability of the proposed method is shown by practical results obtained for a QIM supplied from a voltage source inverter (VSI).

  • In the time optimal control problem, bang-bang control has been used becaese it is the theoretical time minimum solution. However, to improve tracking speed performance in the time optimal control, it is important to select a switching point accurately which makes the velocity zero near the target track. But it is not easy to select the swiching point accurately because of the damping coefficient variation and uncertainties of modeling an actual system. The Adaptive model following control(AMFC) is implemented to relieve the difficulty and inconvenience of this task. The AMFC and make the controlled plant follow as closely as possible to a desired reference model whose switching point can be calculated easily and accurately, assuring the error between the states of the reference model and those of the controlled plant appoaches zero. The hybrid control method composed of AMFC and PID is applied to a tracking actuator of the magneto optical disk drive(MODD) in random access devices to improve its slow tracking performance. According to the simulaion and experimental results, the average tracking time as small as 20ms is obtained for a 3.5 magneto-optical disk drive. The AMFC also can be applied for other random access devices to improve the average tracking performance.

  • As interest in autonomous ships continues to grow, researchers around the world are dedicating themselves to the development of relevant technologies. However, these technologies are not yet perfect. Several technical problems remain unresolved. To address these problems, this study presents the implementation of a ship trajectory algorithm for group navigation, where followers can navigate by following the trajectory of a leader. The algorithm works by storing the leader's trajectory as a follow-point and by calculating the azimuth using the line-of-sight guidance law to reach it. A course-keeping controller based on PD control is implemented to follow the target course and a speed control algorithm is designed to prevent collisions. Sea experiments were conducted using 1 m class small RC model boats to verify the proposed algorithm. The follower successfully navigated by following the leader's trajectory and maintained the designated distance to the forward boat. This study is significant in that it implements an algorithm for the follower to follow the trajectory of the leader rather than directly following it as in conventional methods, and verifies it through sea experiments.

  • This paper proposed a model algorithm control (MAC) method for trajectory tracking control of the differentially steeredwheeled mobile robots (WMRs) subject to nonholonomic constraint. The dynamic model of the wheeled mobile robot is presented and used as the model to be controlled. The performance of the proposed control algorithm is verified via computer simulations in which the WMR is controlled to track several different reference paths. It is shown that the control strategy is feasible.

  • In this paper, we design a tracking controller which satisfies transient response specifications and maintains tracking error within a tolerable limit for the uncertain track-following system of an optical disk drive. To this end, a robust $H_{\infty}$ control problem with regional stability constraints and sinusoidal disturbance rejection is considered. The internal model principle is used for rejecting the sinusoidal disturbance caused by eccentric rotation of the disk. We show that a condition satisfying the regional stability constraints can be expressed in terms of a linear matrix inequality (LMI) using the Lyapunov theory and S-procedure. Finally, a tracking controller is obtained by solving an LMI optimization problem involving two linear matrix inequalities. The proposed controller design method is evaluated through an experiment.
