미세먼지 예방 및 관리를 위한 QR 코드 활용의 e-book 기반 유아건강교육 프로그램 모형 개발 (Development of health education program model of young children for prevention and management of fine dust based on e-book using QR code)

  • 본 연구는 영유아 건강을 위한 미세먼지를 예방하고 관리할 수 있기 위해 QR 코드를 이용한 E-book 기반 미세먼지 예방 교육 프로그램 모형을 개발하고자 하였다. 이에 아동건강 전문가 2명과 영유아 교육전문가 3명의 심도 깊은 토론을 통해 미세먼지 예방을 위한 유아건강교육 프로그램 모형을 개발했으며, QR 코드를 이용한 E-book을 개발하였다. QR 코드를 활용한 e-book 기반의 미세먼지 예방교육 프로그램 모형은 만 5세 유아를 대상으로 현장 적합성 및 교수매체로서의 적절성을 검증하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, QR 코드를 이용한 E-book 기반 미세먼지 예방 교육프로그램 모형은 감상활동-핵심활동-마무리활동의 3단계를 거쳐 개발되었다. 둘째, QR 코드를 이용한 E-book은 미세먼지 예방 교육 프로그램에 적용가능한 유용한 교수매체이다. 결론적으로, 개발된 QR 코드를 활용한 e-book 기반 미세먼지 예방교육 프로그램은 영유아의 미세먼지에 대한 민감성을 높이고, 영유아교육 분야의 미세먼지 예방 및 건강관리 활동을 위한 적절한 교육방법으로 활용될 것이다.

A NEW CATALOG OF SILICATE CARBON STARS

  • A silicate carbon star is a carbon star which shows circumstellar silicate dust features. We collect a sample of 44 silicate carbon stars from the literature and investigate the validity of the classification. For some objects, it is uncertain whether the central star is a carbon star. We confirm that 29 objects are verified silicate carbon stars. We classify the confirmed objects into three subclasses based on the evolution phase of the central star. To investigate the effect of the chemical transition phase from O to C, we use the radiative transfer models for the detached silicate dust shells. The spectral energy distributions and the infrared two-color diagrams of the silicate carbon stars are compared with the theoretical model results. For the chemical transition model without considering the effect of a disk, we find that the life time of the silicate feature is about 50 to 400 years depending on the initial dust optical depth.

  • We have modeled the dust envelopes around carbon stars with close attention to the evolution of the structure of the dust shells. We use various dust density distributions to take account the effect of the superwind due to the helium shell flash by adding a density increased region. Depending on the position and quality of the density increased region, the model results are different from the results with conventional density distribution. The new results fit the observations of some carbon stars better. The IR two-color diagrams comparing the results of the super wind models and IRAS observation of 252 carbon stars have been made. The new results can explain much wider regions on the IR two-color diagrams.

  • OH/IR stars are the most massive and youngest subclass in asymptotic giant branch stars which pass through sporadic superwind phases. We have modeled the dust envelopes around OH/IR stars with close attention to the evolution of the structure of the dust shells. We use various dust density distributions to take account the effect of the superwind due to the helium shell flash by adding a density increased region. Depending on the position and quality of the density increased region, the model results are different from the results with conventional density distribution. The new results fit the observations of some OH/IR stars better. Especially, the OH/IR stars with excessive 30-100$\mu$m emission can be better explained by the new results. The IR two-color diagrams comparing the results of the superwind models and IRAS observation of 95 OH/IR stars have been made. The new results can explain much wider regions on the IR two-color diagrams.

  • 최근 미세먼지 수치가 급격히 상승함에 따라 이에 대한 관심도가 굉장히 높아지고 있다. 미세먼지의 노출은 호흡기 및 심혈관계 질환의 발생과 관련이 있으며, 사망률도 증가시키는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 산업현장에서도 미세먼지에 대한 피해가 속출한다. 그러나 현대인의 삶에서 미세먼지 노출은 불가피하다. 그러므로 미세먼지를 예측하여, 이에 대한 노출을 최소화하는 것이 건강 및 산업 피해축소에 가장 효율적인 방법일 것이다. 기존의 미세먼지 예측 모델은 농도 수치가 아닌 미세먼지의 농도 범위에 따라 좋음, 보통, 나쁨, 매우 나쁨으로만 나누어 예보하고 있다. 본 논문은 기존의 실제 기상 및 대기 질 데이터를 이용, 기계학습 알고리즘인 Artificial Neural Network (ANN)알고리즘과 K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN)알고리즘을 상호 응용하여 미세먼지 수치 (PM 10)를 예측하고자 하였다.

Dust scattering simulation of far-ultraviolet light in the Milky Way

  • We performed three-dimensional Monte Carlo dust scattering radiative transfer simulations for FUV light to obtain dust scattered FUV images and compared them with the observed FUV image obtained by FIMS/SPEAR and GALEX. From this, we find the scattering properties of interstellar dust in our Galaxy and suggest the intensity of extragalactic background light (EBL) at FUV wavelength. The best-fit values of the scattering properties of interstellar dust are albedo = 0.38-0.04+0.04, g-factor = 0.55-0.15+0.10, and EBL = 138-23+21 CU for the allsky which are consistent well with the Milky Way dust model of Draine and direct measurements of Gardner et al., respectively. At the high Galactic latitude of |b|>10°, the observation is well fitted with the model of lower albedo = 0.35-0.04+0.06 and g-factor = 0.50-0.20+0.15. On the contrary, the scattering properties of interstellar dust show higher albedo = 0.43-0.02+0.02 and g-factor = 0.65-0.15+0.05 near the Galactic plane of |b|<10°. In the present simulation, recent three-dimensional distribution maps of interstellar dust in our Galaxy, stellar distances in the catalog of GAIA DR2, and FUV fluxes and/or spectral types in the TD-1 and Hipparcos star catalogs were used.

OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF AMORPHOUS ALUMINA DUST IN THE ENVELOPES AROUND O-RICH AGB STARS

  • We investigate optical properties of amorphous alumina (Al2O3) dust grains in the envelopes around O-rich asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars using laboratory measured optical data. We derive the optical constants of amorphous alumina over a wide wavelength range that satisfy the Kramers-Kronig relation and reproduce the laboratory data. Using the amorphous alumina and silicate dust, we compare the radiative transfer model results with the observed spectral energy distributions. Comparing the theoretical models with observations on various IR two-color diagrams for a large sample of O-rich AGB stars, we find that the amorphous alumina dust (about 10-40%) mixed with amorphous silicate better models the observed points for the O-rich AGB stars with thin dust envelopes.

Near-Infrared Spectroscopy of SN 2017eaw in 2017: Carbon Monoxide and Dust Formation in a Type II-P Supernova

  • The origin of dust in the early Universe has been the subject of considerable debate. Core-collapse supernovae (ccSNe), which occur several million years after their massive progenitors form, could be a major source of that dust, as in the local universe several ccSNe have been observed to be copious dust producers. Here we report nine near-infrared (0.8 - 2.5 micron spectra of the Type II-P SN 2017eaw in NGC 6946, spanning the time interval 22 - 205 days after discovery. The spectra show the onset of CO formation and continuum emission at wavelengths greater than 2.1 micron from newly-formed hot dust, in addition to numerous lines of hydrogen and metals, which reveal the change in ionization as the density of much of the ejecta decreases. The observed CO masses estimated from an LTE model are typically 0.0001 Msun during days 124 - 205, but could be an order of magnitude larger if non-LTE conditions are present in the emitting region. The timing of the appearance of CO is remarkably consistent with chemically controlled dust models of Sarangi & Cherchneff.

  • It has been reported that 50~70% of child asthma, bronchial asthma in adult, and allergic rhinitis are caused by house dust mite. The antigen extracted from house dust mite has been used for effective treatment against allergic diseases and for clinical test. This house dust mite antigen has been entirely imported from abroad. However, the composition and content of all the antigen imported vary from a brand to other brand. Thus, we need to standardize the composition and content of the antigen by developing it domestically. We proceeded pre-clinically general pharmacological test and toxicological test that are required for the eventual human use by utilizing the house dust mite cultured in Korea. In order to obtain information on general pharmacological tests such as its toxic signs in tissues or organs which are mainly affected, we examined the effect of house dust mite on the tensions of the isolated tissues and heart rates of cardiac muscle by recording with force displacement transducer of polygragh (Glass Model 7). We determined lethality of antigen extracted from house dust mite in mice and guinea pigs. We examined acute and subacute toxicity by administrating house dust mite extract of 500, 100, 20 times of the expected clinical dose. In male and female mice and guinea pigs, given a sigle intraperitoneal dose of antigen, $LD_{50}$ values were over 5.0 $\textrm{m}{\ell}$/kg, respectively. In animals administrated with house dust mite, there were no significant change of clinical symptom, body weight, food consumption, water consumption, eye examinations, urinalysis, blood biochemistry, and histopathological examinations in any animals tested. We found no toxic effect of this house dust mite. These results show that the house dust mite cultured by us could be used in the development of medicine against allergic diseases caused by the antigen of house dust mite.

PROPERTIES OF DUST IN EARLY-TYPE GALAXIES BASED ON THE ALL-SKY-SURVEY DATA AND NEAR-INFRARED SPECTRA

  • We present the properties of dust and the near-infrared spectral features in nearby early-type galaxies. The properties of dust are obtained from the AKARI far-infrared all-sky survey diffuse map. The AKARI/IRC is used for the near-infrared spectra. We improve spectral data with the new dark subtraction method on the basis of the knowledge acquired in our laboratory experiments of the engineering-model detector for the IRC. We have succeeded in fitting the continuum by a power-law function and detecting CO and SiO absorption features in early-type galaxy spectra. Comparing the properties of dust and near-infrared spectral features, we find that the power-law slope depends on dust temperature, but not on the dust mass, which suggests that low-luminosity AGNs may contribute to the changes in the power-law slope and dust temperature.
