$Pr^{3+}-doped$ selenide glass optical fiber, which guarantees single-mode propagation of above at least 1310 nm, has been successfully fabricated using a Ge-Ga-Sb-Se glass system. Thermal properties such as glass transition temperature and viscosity of the glasses have been analyzed to find optimum conditions for fiber drawing. Attenuation loss incorporating the effects of an electronic band gap transition, Rayleigh scattering, and multiphonon absorption has also been theoretically estimated for the Ge-Ga-Sb-Se fiber. A conventional double crucible technique has been applied to fabricate the selenide fiber. The background loss of the fiber was estimated to be approximately 0.64 dB/m at 1650 nm, which can be considered fairly good. When excited at approximately 1470 nm, $Pr^{3+}-doped$ selenide fiber resulted in amplified spontaneous emission and saturation behavior with increasing pump power in a U-band wavelength range of 1625 to 1675 nm.
A lot of R&D on the diagnosis of stator winding insulation for large rotating machines has been carried out since the 1970s. The on-line partial discharge measurement has proved to be an effective technique in the evaluation of the state of stator insulation in high voltage rotating machines. It is well known that if the discharge pulses propagate through the winding conductor, they are attenuated and delayed. In the present study, to investigate the attenuation and the time delay of discharge pulses through the winding conductor, a series of tests were conducted using a model coils and slot. Thus it could be concluded that while the high frequency pulse propagates in radiation or end-winding coupling modes, the low frequency one does in a series mode through the coil conductor.

In this paper, We designed and fabricated C-band bandpass filter using dielectric resonators. From waveguide cutoff frequency which applied the region between adjacent dielectric resonators, the height of cavity is determined. The cavity's diameter is determined to the twice of dielectric resonator's diameter considering the conductor loss. The resonant frequency of the DR-cavity is calculated with travelling wave mode analysis. Conventionally, circular cylindrical dielectric resonator is analysed by Cohn's model which use the evanescent mode in the region between dielectric resonator wall and circular cavity wall, which is an approximated method. The external quality factor, Q$_{ex}$ has found with simulation result using Ansoft's Maxwell simulation tool. The designed filter using dielectric resonators with dielectric constant of 45 has the passband center at 5.065GHz. The bandpass filter using dielectric resonators have about 1dB insertion loss. 20MHz bandwidth and more than 30dB attenuation at f$_{0}$$\pm$15MHz.z.z.

In this paper, a novel waveguide low pass filter for satellite communication is proposed. The proposed low pass filter is designed to obtain wideband characteristics without the interference of higher order modes, sufficient attenuation in the stop-band and small sized lightweight characteristics by evanescent-mode ridge structure. To improve return loss and rejection loss, rectangular ring is inserting around the ridges in the waveguide. Input and output ports of the low pass filter is designed by using the impedance step structure for the impedance matching of the filter. The proposed waveguide low pass filter is fabricated and then measured as return loss over 19.5 dB, insertion loss less than 1.41 dB at the pass-band of 7.25 ~ 8.4 GHz and rejection loss over 67.2 dB at the stop-band of 12.25 ~ 14.5 GHz.

The aim of this study was to propose a fusion and registration method with heterogeneous small animal acquisition system in small animal in-vivo study. After an intravenous injection of $^{18}F$-FDG through tail vain and 60 min delay for uptake, mouse was placed on an acryl plate with fiducial markers that were made for fusion between small animal PET (microPET R4, Concorde Microsystems, Knoxville TN) and Discovery LS CT images. The acquired emission list-mode data was sorted to temporally framed sinograms and reconstructed using FORE rebining and 2D-OSEM algorithms without correction of attenuation and scatter. After PET imaging, CT images were acquired by mean of a clinical PET/CT with high-resolution mode. The microPET and CT images were fusion and co-registered using the fiducial markers and segmented lung region in both data sets to perform a point-based rigid co-registration. This method improves the quantitative accuracy and interpretation of the tracer.

This paper presents the intra capacitance modeling according to the winding method, section bobbin and coil structure for hybrid choke coil capable of the EMI attenuation of broad bands from lower frequency bands to higher frequency bands and high frequency type common-mode choke coil capable of the EMI attenuation of high frequency band used in the EMI Block of LED-TV SMPS. In case of high frequency type CM choke coil, it can be explained the parasitic capacitance of A type and section bobbin type winding methods among them is much smaller than the other. The first resonant frequency of the proposed CM choke coil tends to increase as the parasitic capacitance becomes small and its impedance characteristics also show improved performance as the first resonant frequency increases. In case of hybrid choke coil using rectangular copper wire, it has investigated its parasitic capacitance compared to CM choke coil of conventional toroidal type becomes small. Also it has confirmed through the experiment results that CE margin and RE margin in frequency bands 0.5MHz to 5MHz and 30MHz to 200MHz are respectively 10dB and 15dB greater than that of conventional type in case of one stage EMI filter structure adopting hybrid choke coil compared to two stage EMI Filter structure using two of each CM choke coil used in the lower and higher frequency bands or two of CM choke coil used in only the lower frequency bands. In the future, the hybrid choke coil and CM choke coil of high frequency type show it can be practically used in not only LED/LCD-TV SMPS but also several applications such as LED Lighting, Laptop Adapter, Server Power Supply and so on.

The CdTe semiconductor detector has a higher detection efficiency for x-rays and $\square$amma rays and a wider energy band gap compared with Si and Ge semiconductor detectors. Therefore, the size of the detector element can be made small, and can be operated at room temperature. The interaction between a CdTe detector and incident x-rays is mainly photoelectric absorption in the photon energy range of up to 100 keV. In this energy range, Compton effects are almost negligible. We have developed a 256 channel CdTe array detector system for monochromatic x-ray CT using synchrotron radiation. The CdTe array detector system, the element size of which is 1.98 mm (h) x 1.98 mm (w) x 0.5 mm (t), was operated in photon counting mode. In order to improve the spatial resolution, we tilted the CdTe array detector against the incident parallel monochromatic x-ray beam. The experiments were performed at the BL20B2 experimental hutch in SPring-8. The energy of incident monochromatic x-rays was set at 55 keV. Phantom measurements were performed at the detector angle of 0, 30 and 45 degrees against the incident parallel monochromatic x-rays. The linear attenuation coefficients were calculated from the reconstructed CT images. By increasing the detector angle, the spatial resolutions were improved. There was no significant difference between the linear attenuation coefficients which were corrected by the detector angle. It was found that this method was useful for improving the spatial resolution in a parallel monochromatic x-ray CT system.

The surface microcrack over a few tens of micrometers is one of severe problems of a steel wire rod to lead to the failure of the final products, so the method to evaluate crack depth has been required to develop. This work investigates the feasibility of electromagnetic acoustic resonance (EMAR) for this problem. EMAR is the method for measurement of resonant features using electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT). Generally, EMAR is sensitive to small variation of the structures and easy to apply it to the industrial field because of the feature of noncontact measurement. Through several EMAR experiments, the change of the resonant frequencies and attenuation in reverberation has been observed. The results confirms that the surface cracks of around 100 micrometer depth can be detected successfully with the present method.

A gap between a $Al_2O_3/Fe$ thermite and lower head vessel is formed in the lower-plenum arrested vessel attack(LAVA) experiment which is the 1st phase study of simulation of naturally arrested vessel attack in vessel(SONATA-IV). The gap measurement using a conventional ultrasonic method would be lack of a reliability due to the structure complexity and the metallurgical grain size change of the lower head HAZ occurred by a thermite $Al_2O_3/Fe$ melt or a $Al_2O_3$ melt at $2300^{\circ}C$. The grain echoes having false signals and lower S/N ratio signals are detected due to a multiple scattering, a mode conversion and an attenuation of a ultrasonic resulted from at the interface of increased grain size zone. In this test, the signals pattern was classified to understand the behavior of the ultrasonic in a multi-layer specimen of solid-liquid-solid of assuming that the thermite and the lower head vessel is immersed. The polarity threshold algorithm of frequency diversity gives us the enhancement about 6dB of the ratio S/N.

An intensity survey on the 13 December 1996 Yeogweol earthquake has mode for 262 locations throughout southern part of Korean peninsula, then we investigated attenuation properties in the south Korean region as well as intensities distribution. In this study, intensities are estimated to be from II to possibly VIII. The iso-seismal intensity map we obtained shows general pattern of intensity distribution in the south korean region quite clearly despite the inherent uncertainties included in the process of intensity estimation. In case of intensity larger than VI, considerable damages such as fracturing walls are frequently reported. One of the significant feature of this intensity map is, considering its magnitude 4.5 reported by KMA, the felt area is unusually large covering most of the Korean Peninsular except Cheju island. This result indicates either the magnitude is under estimated or the focal depth is much deeper than expected. Assuming indicates either the magnitude is under estimated or the focal depth is much deeper than expected. Assuming shallow earthquake whose focal depth is by iso-seismal contour lines for intensity IV to VII, respectively. To resolve this ambiguity, more reliable estimation of focal depth and magnitude by using telesesmic instrumental records should be made in the future.
