In an attempt to measure effects of the Programmed Resistance Exercise on the daily performance of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, a quasi-experiment ; non-synchronised control group pre-post-test, was carried out for 8 weeks : from June 3 to November 29, 1996. 25 for the experimental group and 26 for the control group were conveniently sampled among registered out-patients on rheumatoid arthritis clinic of Anam Hospital, Korea University Medical Center. The programmed experimental resistance exercises were carried out by the experimental group five times a week for eight weeks. Before and after experiments, level of functional task performance, functional disability, joint mobility, ESR, CRP, self-efficacy and family support were measured and statistically analysed. The results of the analysis of the effects on the Programmed Resistance Exercise are as follows : 1. A statistically significant post-test effects on functional task performance were revealed : 1) the experimental group climbed up and down the 10 steps of the stairs significantly faster than the control group(P=0.0001). 2) the experimental group walked 100 m significantly faster than the control group (P=0.0000). 3) After the experiment, the experimental group could sit down and get up from chairs with no armrest as low as 30cm, 40cm, 50cm on their on, with no assistance as opposed to the control group who could not sit down and get up from such low chairs (P=0.0084). 4) the experimental group lifted 0-15 kg object up to their own heights with no specific strain than the control group (P=0.0000). 2. A significant reduction in the functional disabilities was revealed in the experimental group(P=0.0017). 3. A notable incresement of the joint mobility was revealed in the experimental group. 4. A decrease in the ESR in both the experimental and the control groups was noticed, however, the difference was not statistically significant (P=0.9546). 5. The CRP of both the experimental and control groups decreased with no significant difference (P=0.6022). 6. The self-efficacy increased significantly in the experimental group(P=0.0042), however, no significant effect of self-efficacy on the actual practice of the program was noticed. 7. The family support revealed to be significantly higher in the experimental group (P=0.0013), however, the effect of the family support on actual practice of the program revealed not significant. Judging from the results of these experiments, the resistance exercise program not only improves the functional capacity of rheumatoid arthritis, but also diminishes their functional disabilities and has a great influence on increasing their joint mobility, self-efficacy, and family support. Concluding, in promoting the daily performance of rheumatoid arthritis, the resistance exercise program would be an appropriate nursing intervention.

This study examined the determinants of change in residential size according to the patterns of residential mobility in the Seoul Metropolitan Area. Particularly, this study examined the upward and downward in residential size, which is emerging as an important factor in the era of increasing non-face-to-face environment. For the empirical analysis, I used 「2018 Korea Housing Survey」 and employed binary logistic regression model. The empirical analysis shows the change of residential size is statistically significant depending on the direction of geographic. In addition, there are differences in the determinants of change in residential size. When people move within Seoul, housing factors, accessibility, age of residents, and the number of household members can be the determinants. When people move from Seoul to Gyeonggi or Incheon, housing factors, safety, gender, and the number of household members work as determinants. On the other hand, when moving from Gyeonggi or Incheon to Seoul, whether it is studio or not, housing type, accessibility, the number of household members, and the disability of homeownership are the determinants. When moving within Gyeonggi or Incheon, housing factors, Accessibility to green areas, safety, age of resident, income, and the number of household members, are the determinants.

Due to hypodontia, poor oral hygiene, and significantly more prevalent periodontal disease, patients with Down syndrome show higher incidence of edentulism. Oral rehabilitation of such patients is imperative but challenging as high rates of prosthesis failure are reported due to malocclusion, high masticatory force, and parafunctional habits. As CAD/CAM(Computer-Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing) is the recent trend in prosthodontics, this report discusses the application of CAD/CAM in a Down syndrome patient. A 25-year-old patient with Down syndrome was presented to the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Yonsei University Dental Hospital for oral examination. 5 maxillary teeth were missing, 3 were fully impacted, and 4 had grade III mobility. The patient underwent general anesthesia for extraction of impacted and mobile teeth, implant surgery, and final impression for prosthesis. Afterwards, CAD/CAM was used to design and manufacture a 10-unit zirconia bridge. However the bridge was fractured after 18 months due to the patient's bruxism and high masticatory force. Final impression taking, bite registration, cast fabrication, cast scanning, and prosthesis designing were not needed as CAD/CAM data remained. Previous CAD/CAM design was used to remanufacture the zirconia bridge. Down syndrome patients have malocclusion, high masticatory force, and parafunctional habits which increase the possibility of prosthesis fracture. CAD/CAM is beneficial for Down syndrome patients as previous digital records can be utilized for prosthesis repair or remake. In detail, application of CAD/CAM in remanufacturing decreases patient's discomfort of impression taking, shortens and simplifies dental laboratory procedures, and reduces clinician's effort of taking detailed final impressions or accurate bite registration. In conclusion, oral rehabilitation using CAD/CAM provides not only satisfactory levels of comfort, stability, and esthetics, but also easier repair or remake compared to conventional prostheses.
The main purpose of this research was to examine the EMG characteristics of driver's upper limb and driving performance for operating accelerator and brake pedal by using four types of left hand control devices(Push/Pull, Push/Right angle, Push/Rock, Push/Twist) during simulated driving. The persons with disabilities in the lower extremity have problems in operation of the vehicle because of functional impairments for controlling accelerator and brake pedal. Therefore, if hand control device is used for adaptive driving controls in persons with lower extremity loss, the disabled people could improve their quality of mobility life by driving a car. Twenty subjects were involved in this research to assess driving performance and EMG activities for operating accelerator and brake pedal by using four types of left hand controls in driving simulator. We measured EMG responses of six muscles(posterior deltoid, middle deltoid, biceps, triceps, extensor carpi radialis, and flexor carpi radialis) during pulling and pushing movement with four types of left hand controls for acceleration and braking. STISim Drive 3 program was used for evaluation test of four types of left hand control devices in straight lane course for time to reach target speed and brake reaction time. While operating the four types of left hand controls for acceleration, EMG activities of posterior deltoid in normal subjects were significantly increased(p < 0.05) compared to the disabled subjects. It was also found that EMG responses of triceps and posterior deltoid were significantly increased(p < 0.05) when using the Push/Right angle type than Push/Pull type. While operating the four types of left hand controls for braking, EMG activities of flexor carpi radialis and triceps in subjects with disability were significantly increased(p < 0.05) compared to the normal subjects. It was shown that muscle responses of posterior deltoid, middle deltoid and triceps were significantly increased when using the Push/Right angle type than Push/Rock type. Time to reach target speed and brake reaction time in subjects with disability was increased by 2.5% and 4.6% on average compared to normal subjects. The person with disabilities showed a tendency to relatively slow performance in acceleration at the straight lane course.

On the basis of this understanding, various studies on this subject are expected to be conducted in the future.
The purpose of this study was to compare the function, activity, and participation and quality of life of cerebral palsy, Down syndrome children and typically developing children. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health for Children and Youth (ICF-CY) Checklist, and KIDSCREEN 52-HRQOL questionnaire were used to measure children function, activity and participation and quality of life. The results showed significant differences in functions (except for genitourinary and reproductive functions), activities and participation of ICF-CY were significantly different in all items. In the post-hoc analysis, showed high activity and participation in order of typically developing children, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome children (except for mobility). The quality of life were significantly different in all items (except for bullying), children with cerebral palsy and Down syndrome showed lower quality of life than typically developing children. The results showed that there were a significant difference in activity and participation, and quality of life among the three groups, and higher function, activity and participation, and quality of life in order of typically developing children, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome children.
The objectives of this study were to examine the relative efficacy of three active exercise programs for work-related, chronic low back pain, and to observe to what extent the programs affected the mechanical stability of the lumbar region. The subjects were 64 employees who were randomly divided into three groups to match the three active exercise programs which were performed 3 times a week for 6 months. All subjects were assessed with the same measurements at a pre-study examination, and then were reassessed at 2 weeks, 3months and 6 months after the study. The pain intensity didn't show any significant difference among the three groups. However, the Oswestry Disability Index showed significant differences among the three groups at 6 months and the lumbar and thoracic exercise groups showed significant decreases compared to the general physiotherapy group (p<.05). Maximal stretching with both hands in the overhead direction showed a significant difference among the three groups at 3 months and 6 months, and the thoracic exercise group at 6 months showed a significant increase in overhead stretching compared to the lumbar exercise and general physiotherapy groups (p<.05). The group that performed maximal stretching with both hands in the overhead direction showed the most significant among the 3 months and 6 months. At 6 months, the thoracic exercise group showed a significant increase in overhead stretching compared to the lumbar exercise and general physiotherapy groups (p<.05). The lumbar region angle of inclination showed significant differences among the three groups at 2 weeks 3 months, and 6 months, with the thoracic exercise group being decreased more significantly at 6 months than the lumbar exercise and general physiotherapy groups (p<.05). Exercise aimed at increasing thoracic mobility has an effect on lumbar stability. Furthermore, it is far more effective for lumbar stabilization than general physiotherapy and deep muscle strengthening lumbar exercise.

This study deducts several tasks in spatial information field to fulfill the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities effectively. First of all, For the deduction, this study starts by considering accessability, personal movement, freedom of expression and accessability to information. Second, this study defines persons with disabilities as the spatial information what ensure for prior considerations. Third, this study deducts some requirements on spatial information of persons with disabilities on the basis of the survey targeting persons with disabilities and the expert opinion, and suggests objectives, strategies, tasks, systems for effective implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Especially, this study sets up a goal on spatial information establishing strategy of persons with disabilities as 'Disadvantaged groups like persons with disabilities can obtain requirable information without distinction of person, thereby pursuing the convenience of life and improving the quality of life.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the effectiveness and the necessity of home visiting physical therapy through examining performance ability and functional changes in daily life activities by investigating the life of disabled persons living at home. Methods: After selecting 100 people with physical disabilities greater than level 3 and brain damage related disabilities living in Youngam-Gun, we conducted mobility tests according to a Modified Bathel Index (MBI), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and floor and bed movements? for Activities of Daily Living evaluation. We did this before the experiment and after doing home visiting physical therapy for 90 minutes at a time, once a week for 6 months Results: 1) Persons who live in a bed are higher than those who live in a floor. There was a significant difference between persons who live in a floor and those who live in a bed in the change in MBI and BBS scores after home visiting physical therapy. 2) Those with a musculoskeletal disorder had a significantly different change in MBI and BBS according to the type of disease and kind of disability. Those with neuropathy had a significantly different change in MBI. Those with physical disabilities showed a significant difference in MBI and BBS. Conclusion: A home visiting physical therapist can cause an improved performance ability and lead to the ability of disabled persons living at home to carry out activities of daily livingin a large part and the study for brain lesion disabilities except physical disabilities and stroke which occupy large proportion of disabled persons should be done.
This study shows that people with disabilities are very disadvantageous in employment and wage, which is originated from social discriminations. In this study, numerical value of employment-discrimination was calculated as 33.4%, and that of wage-discrimination calculated as 67.3%. But these discriminations are only come from one's disability not from productivity. So, Government must legislate 'The Discrimination Prohibit Act for People with Disabilities' rapidly to promote of people with disabilities' life qualities. Nobody knows when he get disabilities. Together with 'The Discrimination Prohibit Act for People with Disabilities', Government also have to improve people with disabilities' way of working, mobility, and provide assistive technology for the promotion of people with disabilities' employment rate and wage.
