Breast cancer ranks among the most prevalent forms of malignancy and foremost cause of death by cancer worldwide. It is not preventable. Early and precise detection is the only remedy for lowering the rate of mortality and improving the probability of survival for victims. In contrast to present procedures, thermography aids in the early diagnosis of cancer and thereby saves lives. But the accuracy experiences detrimental impact by low sensitivity for small and deep tumours and the subjectivity by physicians in interpreting the images. Employing deep learning approaches for cancer detection can enhance the efficacy. This study explored the utilization of thermography in early identification of breast cancer with the use of a publicly released dataset known as the DMR-IR dataset. For this purpose, we employed a novel approach that entails the utilization of a pre-trained MobileNetV2 model and fine tuning it through transfer learning techniques. We created three models using MobileNetV2: one was a baseline transfer learning model with weights trained from ImageNet dataset, the second was a fine-tuned model with an adaptive learning rate, and the third utilized early stopping with callbacks during fine-tuning. The results showed that the proposed methods achieved average accuracy rates of 85.15%, 95.19%, and 98.69%, respectively, with various performance indicators such as precision, sensitivity and specificity also being investigated.

This paper proposes an embedded system that detects mask and face recognition based on a microprocessor instead of Nvidia Jetson Board what is popular development kit. We use a class of efficient models called Mobilenets for mobile and embedded vision applications. MobileNets are based on a streamlined architechture that uses depthwise separable convolutions to build light weight deep neural networks. The device used a Maix development board with CNN hardware acceleration function, and the training model used MobileNet_V2 based SSD(Single Shot Multibox Detector) optimized for mobile devices. To make training model, 7553 face data from Kaggle are used. As a result of test dataset, the AUC (Area Under The Curve) value is as high as 0.98.

Agriculture is one of the essential needs of human life on planet Earth. It is the source of food and earnings for many individuals around the world. The economy of many countries is associated with the agriculture sector. Lots of diseases exist that attack various fruits and crops. Apple Tree Leaves also suffer different types of pathological conditions that affect their production. These pathological conditions include apple scab, cedar apple rust, or multiple diseases, etc. In this paper, an automatic detection framework based on deep learning is investigated for apple leaves disease classification. Different pre-trained models, VGG16, ResNetV2, InceptionV3, and MobileNetV2, are considered for transfer learning. A combination of parameters like learning rate, batch size, and optimizer is analyzed, and the best combination of ResNetV2 with Adam optimizer provided the best classification accuracy of 94%.
Dead trees significantly impact forest production and the ecological environment and pose constraints to the sustainable development of forests. A lightweight YOLOv4 dead tree detection algorithm based on unmanned aerial vehicle images is proposed to address current limitations in dead tree detection that rely mainly on inefficient, unsafe and easy-to-miss manual inspections. An improved logarithmic transformation method was developed in data pre-processing to display tree features in the shadows. For the model structure, the original CSPDarkNet-53 backbone feature extraction network was replaced by MobileNetV3. Some of the standard convolutional blocks in the original extraction network were replaced by depthwise separable convolution blocks. The new ReLU6 activation function replaced the original LeakyReLU activation function to make the network more robust for low-precision computations. The K-means++ clustering method was also integrated to generate anchor boxes that are more suitable for the dataset. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm achieved an accuracy of 97.33%, higher than other methods. The detection speed of the proposed approach is higher than that of YOLOv4, improving the efficiency and accuracy of the detection process.
In autonomous driving systems, the ability to classify pedestrians in images captured by cameras is very important for pedestrian safety. In the past, after extracting features of pedestrians with HOG(Histogram of Oriented Gradients) or SIFT(Scale-Invariant Feature Transform), people classified them using SVM(Support Vector Machine). However, extracting pedestrian characteristics in such a handcrafted manner has many limitations. Therefore, this paper proposes a method to classify pedestrians reliably and effectively using CNN's(Convolutional Neural Network) deep features and transfer learning. We have experimented with both the fixed feature extractor and the fine-tuning methods, which are two representative transfer learning techniques. Particularly, in the fine-tuning method, we have added a new scheme, called M-Fine(Modified Fine-tuning), which divideslayers into transferred parts and non-transferred parts in three different sizes, and adjusts weights only for layers belonging to non-transferred parts. Experiments on INRIA Person data set with five CNN models(VGGNet, DenseNet, Inception V3, Xception, and MobileNet) showed that CNN's deep features perform better than handcrafted features such as HOG and SIFT, and that the accuracy of Xception (threshold = 0.5) isthe highest at 99.61%. MobileNet, which achieved similar performance to Xception and learned 80% fewer parameters, was the best in terms of efficiency. Among the three transfer learning schemes tested above, the performance of the fine-tuning method was the best. The performance of the M-Fine method was comparable to or slightly lower than that of the fine-tuningmethod, but higher than that of the fixed feature extractor method.

In this study, we propose training a support vector machine (SVM) model on top of deep networks for detecting Covid-19 from chest X-ray images. We started by gathering a real chest X-ray image dataset, including positive Covid-19, normal cases, and other lung diseases not caused by Covid-19. Instead of training deep networks from scratch, we fine-tuned recent pre-trained deep network models, such as DenseNet121, MobileNet v2, Inception v3, Xception, ResNet50, VGG16, and VGG19, to classify chest X-ray images into one of three classes (Covid-19, normal, and other lung). We propose training an SVM model on top of deep networks to perform a nonlinear combination of deep network outputs, improving classification over any single deep network. The empirical test results on the real chest X-ray image dataset show that deep network models, with an exception of ResNet50 with 82.44%, provide an accuracy of at least 92% on the test set. The proposed SVM on top of the deep network achieved the highest accuracy of 96.16%.

To enhance the accuracy of sinkhole detection using GPR, this study derived a convolutional neural network that can optimally extract sinkhole characteristics from GPR B-scan grayscale images. The pre-trained convolutional neural network is evaluated to be more than twice as effective as the vanilla convolutional neural network. In pre-trained convolutional neural networks, fast feature extraction is found to cause less overfitting than feature extraction. It is analyzed that the top-1 verification accuracy and computation time are different depending on the type of architecture and simulation conditions. Among the pre-trained convolutional neural networks, InceptionV3 are evaluated as most robust for sinkhole detection in GPR B-scan grayscale images. When considering both top-1 verification accuracy and architecture efficiency index, VGG19 and VGG16 are analyzed to have high efficiency as the backbone for extracting sinkhole feature from GPR B-scan grayscale images. MobileNetV3-Large backbone is found to be suitable when mounted on GPR equipment to extract sinkhole feature in real time.
When processing depthwise separable convolution, low utilization of processing elements (PEs) is one of the challenges of systolic array (SA). In this study, we propose a new SA architecture to maximize throughput in depthwise convolution. Moreover, the proposed SA performs subsequent pointwise convolution on the idle PEs during depthwise convolution computation to increase the utilization. After the computation, we utilize unused PEs to boost the remaining pointwise convolution. Consequently, the proposed 128x128 SA achieves a 4.05x and 1.75x speed improvement and reduces the energy consumption by 66.7 % and 25.4 %, respectively, compared to the basic SA and RiSA in MobileNetV3.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate convolutional neural network models and computer vision techniques for the classification of swine posture with high accuracy and to use the derived result in the investigation of the effect of dietary fiber level on the behavioral characteristics of the pregnant sow under low and high ambient temperatures during the last stage of gestation. A total of 27 crossbred sows (Yorkshire × Landrace; average body weight, 192.2 ± 4.8 kg) were assigned to three treatments in a randomized complete block design during the last stage of gestation (days 90 to 114). The sows in group 1 were fed a 3% fiber diet under neutral ambient temperature; the sows in group 2 were fed a diet with 3% fiber under high ambient temperature (HT); the sows in group 3 were fed a 6% fiber diet under HT. Eight popular deep learning-based feature extraction frameworks (DenseNet121, DenseNet201, InceptionResNetV2, InceptionV3, MobileNet, VGG16, VGG19, and Xception) used for automatic swine posture classification were selected and compared using the swine posture image dataset that was constructed under real swine farm conditions. The neural network models showed excellent performance on previously unseen data (ability to generalize). The DenseNet121 feature extractor achieved the best performance with 99.83% accuracy, and both DenseNet201 and MobileNet showed an accuracy of 99.77% for the classification of the image dataset. The behavior of sows classified by the DenseNet121 feature extractor showed that the HT in our study reduced (p < 0.05) the standing behavior of sows and also has a tendency to increase (p = 0.082) lying behavior. High dietary fiber treatment tended to increase (p = 0.064) lying and decrease (p < 0.05) the standing behavior of sows, but there was no change in sitting under HT conditions.

Estimation of heading date of paddy rice is laborious and time consuming. Therefore, automatic estimation of heading date of paddy rice is highly essential. In this experiment, deep learning classification models were used to classify two difference categories of rice (vegetative and reproductive stage) based on the panicle initiation of paddy field. Specifically, the dataset includes 444 slanted view images belonging to two categories and was then expanded to include 1,497 images via IMGAUG data augmentation technique. We adopt two transfer learning strategies: (First, used transferring model weights already trained on ImageNet to six classification network models: VGGNet, ResNet, DenseNet, InceptionV3, Xception and MobileNet, Second, fine-tuned some layers of the network according to our dataset). After training the CNN model, we used several evaluation metrics commonly used for classification tasks, including Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and F1-score. In addition, GradCAM was used to generate visual explanations for each image patch. Experimental results showed that the InceptionV3 is the best performing model in terms of the accuracy, average recall, precision, and F1-score. The fine-tuned InceptionV3 model achieved an overall classification accuracy of 0.95 with a high F1-score of 0.95. Our CNN model also represented the change of rice heading date under different date of transplanting. This study demonstrated that image based deep learning model can reliably be used as an automatic monitoring system to detect the heading date of rice crops using CCTV camera.
