유무선 통신서비스 간 상호 대체성 및 보완성에 관한 실증분석 (An Empirical Analysis on the Substitutability and the Complementarity between Fixed and Mobile Telecommunication Services)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine whether there are relationships of substitutability or complementarity between the call demand of fixed telecommunication and mobile telecommunication services. In order to clarify the relationships, we suggest a model of call demand of fixed telecommunication service which incorporates the variables representing the diffusion of mobile telecommunications subscription and estimate it with relevant time series data. Finally it is shown that there is complementary relationship between the call demand of fixed telecommunication and mobile paging services, and it is also found that there is substitutable relationship between the long distance call demand of fixed telecommunication and mobile phone services.

한국 이동통신시장에서 휴대폰 서비스품질이 전환장벽에 미치는 영향 분석 (The Effects of Cellular Phone Service Quality to Switching Barrier in Korean Mobile Telecommunication Market)

  • The Korean mobile telecommunication service market is faced with a tremendous competitive period, in which the market is entering into the maturity stage with launching of the 3rd generation service and with introduction of mobile number portability. In general, it is more important to sustain the old customers than to attracting new customers, as the life cycle of an industry is entering the maturity stage in which the growth rate of new customers is decreasing gradually or becoming stagnant. Thus, mobile telecommunication business has to seek a way to maintain the existing customers instead of promoting new customers. So this study investigates whether the service quality of mobile telecommunication could have effects on the switching barrier of the industry. In order to test the hypothesis on the effects of service quality of mobile telecommunication in Korea on switching barrier, this study collected the questionnaire response data of students including middle and high school students and undergraduates, who are regarded as the major customers in that mobile telecommunication industry.

  • There have been dramatic technology changes in telecommunication sector during last two decades. New application services like the introduction of international mobile services, fiber optical home services and satellite personal services are expected to play a major role in the whole field of telecommunication services. In the users' viewpoint, the proper selection and the efficient application of the specific telecommunication service among the various alternatives at hand are recognized as principle means for ensuring the whole business competitiveness. Despite the definite need for the telecommunication service selection strategies, very few researches have been reported in this field. In this paper, attempts are made to identify the companies' decision factors considered in selecting the telecommunication services, to draw the strategic dimensions and categorize each company with respect to the identified dimensions, and to finally find the characteristics of each strategic group in selecting the telecommunication service.

  • 2000년대 초반부터 한국의 이동통신시장은 급속하게 팽창해 왔으며, 최근 들어 그 성장 속도가 둔화되고 있으나 성장은 계속 진행 중에 있다. 이와 같은 환경에서 4세대 이동통신 서비스가 2011년 10월부터 시작되어 3세대 서비스와 4세대 서비스가 함께 존재하고 이를 통해 이동통신시장의 경쟁구도가 더욱 복잡하고 치열한 상황이 되었다. 본 연구는 다세대 확산 모형을 활용하여 3세대 및 4세대 이동통신 서비스 가입자 규모를 예측하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 세 개의 파라미터, 즉 Norton and Bass 모형[11]에서 사용되는 혁신계수, 모방계수 및 포화수준계수의 값을 추정하기 위해 3세대에서 4세대로 대체되는 서비스 대체의 유사 사례를 역추적하는 방법을 사용하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 다세대 확산모형과 유사사례 추론을 통해 신규서비스인 4세대 이동통신서비스 시장규모를 성공적으로 예측할 수 있었다는 결론을 얻었다.

React Native and Android Mobile Apps for Smart Tourism Information Service to FITs

  • We develop a smart tourism information system that provides smart tourism services to free independent tourists (FITs) through various content distribution channels such as mobile apps, Instagram, YouTube, and chatbots. The smart tourism information system provides location and storytelling-based tourism information, accommodation, restaurant information, and recommended travel products so that tourists can create a travel itinerary based on personalized situation awareness. The smart tourism information system also provides smart tourism services using commercial maps, navigation, and weather forecast APIs from the Korea Meteorological Administration to provide smart tour guide services to tourists who travel according to the travel itinerary. In this paper, we develop the React Native app that provides smart tourism services provided by the smart tourism information system. The smart tourism React Native app has implemented two methods: a method that directly connects to the smart tourism information system, and a method that provides services by interworking through the GraphQL Query Language developed by META (Facebook). The smart tourism React Native app implements OSMU (One Source Multi-use) by providing tourism information from mobile apps, photos from Instagram, and drone videos from YouTube as an integrated UI.

소비자 관점의 통신시장 변화 고찰 (A Review on the Change of Telecommunication Market in Perspective of Customer)

  • This review examines the rapid growth of qualitative and quantitative of telecommunication industry for past couple of years from customer's viewpoint. Most of the telecommunication products were positioned in the market by the businesses and government's support, but the entity of telecommunication products were never interpreted from the user's viewpoint. Even though, various kinds of telecommunication services have been actively discussed by businesses, government, and IT professionals, it has not been sufficiently discussed by the marketing academia where they need to focus a lot on customer's utility. For the purpose of providing an insight of the telecommunication service marketing strategy, this study looked over old and new directions of growth, failure and evolution of services by focusing on two main pillar of communication business, which is high-speed internet and mobile phone service. Additionally, the research explains and mentions the limit and trend of the telecommunication service marketing, and the future research task that needs to be solved.

  • The mobile industry is waking up to the reality that customers buy 'services', not technology. Thekey is to deliver a variety of differentiated services today and improve them as the advanced technology becomes available. In the increasingly data centric world of the future, the emphasis will be on the provision of a range of services audio, video, data and multimedia and of course speech. As we move closer to the realization of these mobile services in the conglomeration of converged networks, new challenges are being faced by the technology and application developers as well as the service providers to design, test and integrate new products and services. Functionalities like availability, scalability, performance and compatibility have become more important. This paper discusses the new test paradigms in the mobile networks, both from the applications and the protocols perspective.

  • Convergence services are very important to mobile operators in next generation mobile networks. However, mobile operators cannot deal with all convergence services because there are numerous convergence services. Thus, they should select and develop main technologies to provide convergence services which are areas to grow our business. In this paper, we introduce basic technologies to provide convergence services and then present some evaluation models to select an important area and technology.

Also service quality and switching cost were given a remarkable attention for their possibility of exogenous factors, which could exercise effects to customer satisfaction and loyalty. In the same context, mobile telecommunication business has to seek a way to maintain the existing customers instead of promoting new customers. So this study investigates whether the service quality and switching barrier of mobile telecommunication could have effects on the customer satisfaction and loyalty, which are recognized as an efficient means to sustain the current customers.
