  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self control and social support on the mobile phone dependence in elementary school students. The subjects were 392 children(187 boys, 205 girls) in 5, 6th grade from two elementary schools in Gyeonggi-do. The mobile phone dependence was assessed by the Mobile Phone Dependence Scale(Ko Seong-Ja, 2012), self control was measured by the Self-control Scale(Nam hyeon-mi, 1999) and social support was assessed by the Social Support Scale(Han mi hyun, 1996). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlations and hierarchical regressions. The major results of this study were as follows: First, there was no significant difference in mobile phone dependence by sex of the children. Second, children's mobile phone dependence were correlated with self control and social support. Finally, children's self control, family support and peer support significantly explained the mobile phone dependence. But peer support appeared to have negative corelation on mobile phone dependence, but appeared to have static effect in regression result by suppressor variables. So it needs to explore statistical function of suppressor variables in follow-up studies. Also research of this study indicate that self control enhancement program should be developed and parents should communicate more frankly and affectively with their children in order to prevent children's mobile phone dependence.

  • A mobile host is prone to failure due to lack of stable storage, low bandwidth of wireless channel, high mobility, and limited battery life on the wireless network. Many researchers have studied to overcome these problems. For high level Availability in the cellular networks, it is necessary to consider recovery from the failures of mobile support stations as well as mobile as mobile hosts. In this paper, we present modified trickle scheme for recovery from failures of Mobile Support Station based on checkpointing scheme and analyze and compare the performance. We propose and analyze the performance of two schemes : one is waiting recovery scheme for the mobile support station having the last checkpoint and the other is searching the new path to the another mobile support station having the checkpoint.

  • In this paper, a mobile office support. system which consists of mobile devices and servers is proposed. An efficient mobile office support system is required to study since the existing mobile office support systems may face the serious problems such as an absence of interoperability, difficulties of data synchronization and device management in the near future, especially when a company has a large number of outdoor service employees. In this paper, a mobile office support system requirements for a company with a large number of outdoor service employees is proposed. And then, the methods to satisfy the requirements using a remote data synchronization and a remote device management technologies are proposed. The mobile office support system proposed in this paper synchronizes remotely a large number of various mobile devices of employees with centralized servers located in the company. In addition, it manages the mobile devices remotely for the employees. This paper proposes a mobile office support system based on OMA(Open Mobile Alliance) DS(Data Synchronization) and DM(Device Management) protocols. As OMA DS and DM protocols are de facto international standards, the interoperability between the mobile office support systems can be guaranteed.

  • Currently, Mobile-commerce is active around the world, and consumers' online activities have changed significantly from pc-base to mobile-base. Unlike IT advanced countries such as the United States, which experienced PC-based online commerce (hereafter, PC-commerce) before Mobile-commerce, developing countries such as Vietnam have a relatively short history of PC-commerce. Consumers' experience with PC-commerce may affect their acceptance and use of Mobile-commerce. In this study, we tried to see if different online commerce histories differently affect consumers' online purchasing behavior. We selected the United States and Vietnam, with longer PC-commerce experience and shorter one, respectively. Data were collected for the following four groups: 1) the U.S. PC-commerce (n=256), 2) the U.S. Mobile-commerce (n=283), 3) the Vietnamese PC-commerce (n=159), and 4) the Vietnamese Mobile-commerce (n=225). As results, it was first confirmed that different e-commerce histories in developed and developing countries make the online shopping process different. Second, navigability has a huge impact on consumers' decision support satisfaction in Vietnam where PC-commerce history is shorter. Third, we identified that pre-purchase phase is more related with decision support satisfaction and that purchase phase is more related with task support satisfaction.

  • As the technical advances in portable computers and wireless communication technologies, mobile computing environment has been rapidly expanded. The mobile users on mobile host can access information via wireless communication from the distributed heterogeneous multidatabase system in which pre-existing independent local information systems are integrated into one logical system to support mobile applications. Hence, mobile transaction model should include not only the features for heterogeneous multidatabase systems but also the ones for mobile computing environment. In this paper, we proposed a mobile flex transaction model which extends the flexible transaction model that previously proposed for heterogeneous multidatabase systems is extended to support the requirements of mobile heterogeneous multidatabase systems. We also presented the execution control mechanism of the mobile flex transaction model. The proposed mobile flex transaction model allows the definition of location-dependent subtransactions, the effective support of hand-over, and the flexibility of transaction executions. Hence, the proposed mobile flex transaction model can be suit to mobile heterogeneous multidatabase systems that have low power capability, low bandwidth, and high communication failure possibility.

  • Network Mobility basic support protocol (NEMO Basic) extends the operation of Mobile IPv6 to provide uninterrupted Internet connectivity to the communicating nodes of mobile networks. The protocol uses a mobile router (MR) in the mobile network to perform prefix scope binding updates with its home agent (HA) to establish a bi-directional tunnel between the HA and MR. This solution reduces location-update signaling by making network movements transparent to the mobile nodes (MNs) behind the MR. However, delays in data delivery and higher overheads are likely to occur because of sub-optimal routing and multiple encapsulation of data packets. To manage the mobility of the mobile network, it is important to minimize packet overhead, to optimize routing, and to reduce the volume of handoff signals over the nested mobile network. This paper proposes en aggregate router-assisted route optimization (ARARO) scheme for nested mobile networks support which introduces a local anchor router in order to localize handoff and to optimize routing. With ARARO, a mobile network node (MNN) behind a MR performs route optimization with a correspondent node (CN) as the MR sends a binding update message (BU) to aggregate router (AGR) via root-MR on behalf of all active MNNs when the mobile network moves. This paper describes the new architecture and mechanisms and provides simulation results which indicate that our proposal reduces transmission delay, handoff latency and signaling overhead. To evaluate the scheme, we present the results of simulation.

  • Currently, there are many subscriber access networks: PSTN, ADSL, Cellular Network, IMT200 and so on. To these service providers that provide above network service, it is important that they authenticate and authorize legal subscribers and account for their usage. At present, There exist the several protocols that Support AAA(Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) service : RADIUS, Diameter, TACACS+. Nowadays, RADIUS has used for AAA service widely. It has been extended to support other access network environment. So, we extend RADIUS to support environment of Mobile IPv6. Mobile IPv6 uses IPsec as a security mechanism, basically. But, IPsec is a heavy security technology for small, portable, mobile device. Especially, it is serious at IKE, the subset of IPsec. IKE is a key distribution protocol that distributes the key to the endpoints of IPsec. In t:lis paper, we extend RADIUS to support environment of Mobile IPv6 and simplify the IKE phase of IPsec by AAA system distributing the keys by using its security communication channel. Namely, we propose the key distribution method for IPsec SA establishment between mobile node and home agent. The suggested method was anticipated to be effective at low-power, low computing deyice. Finally, end users feel the faster authentication.

  • Unlike host-based IPv6 mobility support protocols such as Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6), Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6), and Fast handover for Mobile IPv6 (FMIPv6), Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is expected to accelerate the real deployment of IPv6 mobility support protocol by using only collaborative operations between the network entities without mobile node (MN) being involved. In this paper, we analyze and compare the handover latency of network-based IPv6 mobility support protocol (i.e., PMIPv6) with the representative host-based IPv6 mobility support protocols such as MIPv6, HMIPv6, and FMIPv6. Analytical results show that the handover latency of PMIPv6 is considerably lower than those of MIPv6 and HMIPv6, and the handover latency of PMIPv6 becomes lower than that of FMIPv6 in case the wireless link delay is greater than the delay between mobile access gateway (MAG) and local mobility anchor (LMA).

Abstract In mobile computing environments, a mobile host caches the data to use the narrow bandwidth efficiently and improve the response time of a mobile transaction. If the cached data in mobile host is updated at a mobile support station, the mobile support station broadcasts an invalidation message for maintaining the cache consistency of a mobile host. But when a mobile transaction accesses the data which is not in cache, if a mobile host caches the data immediately from a mobile support station for processing a mobile transaction rapidly, the method that a mobile support station broadcasts an invalidation message periodically, happens to the case that can not guarantee the serializable execution of a mobile transaction. In this paper, we propose the UCL-MT method and lock management method, as a mobile transaction is executed using cached data. Since, using the data a mobile transaction accessed, the UCL-MT method detects a cycle in a mobile support station before the completion of the mobile transaction, it guarantees the serializable execution of the mobile transaction. Also, proposing lock management method can be adapted flexibly at the change of invalidation message content, according to the available bandwidth.
