A Study on the Email Management of Undergraduate Students (대학생의 이메일 관리 행태 연구)

  • This study examines email records management patterns of undergraduate students and their perceptions of university email policy. The research collected data from 317 undergraduate students using a survey based on the five essential elements of email records management: common elements, email creation, email management, email preservation, and perception. Also, an in-depth interview was conducted with 6 undergraduate students, according to the method of university email service: Google, Microsoft, and in-house webmail. As a result, undergraduate students used email as an address book, cloud storage, file storage, and collaboration tool, and they had difficulties in systematically managing the email records according to the records lifecycle. Also, there was a tendency to prefer using an external email platform that can use additional functions to in-house webmail that has limitations in mobile service and preservation of attachments. Thus, this study suggests ways to help undergraduate students manage their email records, including maintaining graduates' email accounts, providing sufficient email storage, and providing email records management training and guidelines for undergraduate students.

Efficient Object Localization using Color Correlation Back-projection (칼라 상관관계 역투영법을 적용한 효율적인 객체 지역화 기법)

  • Localizing an object in image is a common task in the field of computer vision. As the existing methods provide a detection for the single object in an image, they have an utilization limit for the use of the application, due to similar objects are in the actual picture. This paper proposes an efficient method of object localization for image recognition. The new proposed method uses color correlation back-projection in the YCbCr chromaticity color space to deal with the object localization problem. Using the proposed algorithm enables users to detect and locate primary location of object within the image, as well as candidate regions can be detected accurately without any information about object counts. To evaluate performance of the proposed algorithm, we estimate success rate of locating object with common used image database. Experimental results reveal that improvement of 21% success ratio was observed. This study builds on spatially localized color features and correlation-based localization, and the main contribution of this paper is that a different way of using correlogram is applied in object localization.

  • The issue about the safety management of gas related work has been studied toward a direction to utilize IoT system recently. For this purpose, the matters of user's demand has been deduced through the literature survey, field survey, and professional consultation, by studying the characteristics of worker, work, and work site. In summary, these are the demands for mobile App, 1)a clear arrangement of contents, 2)a design with high readability, 3)a design with low death, 4) securing of user's accessibility, 5)an effective information transmission plan in the work section where it is impossible to operate the mobile device, 6)an activation of alarm function at the section of high working error, 7)a fast two-way transmission and receipt of safety inspection matter needed at work, 8)a selection of images and contents that can guide the situation to the worker in case of accident, 9)an alarm function for the degree of danger in an area of worker's location. Based on these, a basic design of safety application for gas related work has been proposed, that can secure the user accessibility.

An Analysis on the Change of Usage Behavior for Bundle Services in Korean Telecommunication Market (방송통신 결합상품서비스 이용행태 변화 분석 연구)

  • We analyze changes of consumption behavior for bundle services for the latest three years focusing on comparing the detailed service types and service providers to understand competition structure in the market. Our major findings and implications are as follows. First, the mobile telecommunication service is certainly deemed to be a major selection criteria for bundling service provider, therefore the leading company in the mobile telecommunication has become more significant market power. Second, IPTV has an important influence for slection of bundling service provider, lately in some cases, rather than broadband Internet. Third, the individual services affecting the selection of bundling service providers clearly showed differentiation among three operators as a mobile telecommunication service of SK Group, a broadband Internet of KT, and an IPTV of LGU+. In addition, the importance of individual services in securing subscribers has been increased as the preference factors to switch a service provider were synchronized with the decision of major bundling service provider. Finally, although it is difficult to find customers' lock-In due to the latest change of their intentions to switch a provider, we find it is continuously necessary to monitor customers' lock-in as there are more long-term customers with re-contracts. Our results provide the policy implications based on the change of competition structure and usage behavior in the bundle market which is not evaluated the competiton situation.

  • Recently, public service for the improvement of quality of life and life support such as safety, aging, disaster, welfare, housing, economy, urban environment, traffic etc are actively developed based on open public data, and the spread of the network and the necessity of everyday life, smartphones are playing a role in providing public services. Currently, the development of science is changing the life expectancy of human beings and changing into social structure in which aged people become bigger due to various social conditions and low fertility and aging problems. However, the elderly who do not have easy access to information are very uncomfortable in dealing with mobile devices with very low accessibility and utilization of public services provided by mobile phones. Therefore, this study recategorizes the condition of the elderly presented in the previous study and identifies the problem through case analysis provided for the elderly. Also, we summarize the hierarchy of the core items of the existing interface design and derive it as an improvement index of the public service design for the improvement of the information accessibility of the elderly, and propose a design method to improve the utilization of the public service provided through the mobile device.

  • This research has reviewed the major composition concepts and the positive research results in the selected studies which were theoretically based on IDT (Innovation Diffusion Theory), IRM (Model of Innovation Resistance), TAM(Technology Acceptance Model), and IAPA(Information Asset Protection Activity) in order to improve the theoretical explanation of major characterized factors influencing on the introduction of MST (Mobile Security Technology). The characterized factors for the adaptation of MST and 17 hypotheses on the MST study models in order to test the effects on the intention to use are empirically verified by utilizing the analysis method of structure equation model. As a result of a study, First, the most influential characterized factors of IRM are shown as compatibility, complexity, relative advantage, information asset protection in order. Second, the characterized factors affecting intention to use are shown as relative advantage, compatibility, innovation resistance, performance expectancy. The results of this study are relevantly significant to establish the theoretical foundation of the study on the adaptation of MST and The verification of the characterized factors provide strategic implication for the introduction of MST and policy direction which alleviates informational gap between new MST and previous Security Technology to diffusion agency.

A Classification of Car-related Mobile Apps: For App Development from a Convergence Perspective (차량용 모바일 앱의 분류: 융복합 관점의 앱 개발을 위해)

  • This study selected car-related mobile apps for app developers suffering from low revenue and classified car apps assisting users in driving or managing a car. A total of 697 car apps were classified into eight categories. Most apps are in four categories: car news & information (28%), locating service (23%), car rental service (15%), safe/efficient driving service (12%). The remaining categories are buying & selling, driver's communication, maintenance management, and expenses monitoring. Many apps are simple and too similar in their main functions. Only a few apps are designed to be more comprehensive and have functions in two or more categories. For the practicality of the categorization scheme, this study checked the inter-rater reliability in two tests and got 0.886 and 0.828. The result from this study suggests functions that are not implemented yet or need to be combined. Future research will focus on identifying promising car apps or designing multi-functional car apps.

  • Nowadays, team members often use mobile messenger service (MMS) in performing team projects. Team members can freely express their ideas or opinions using MMS without any restrictions in terms of place and time. But, in team project, using MMS is pressing them to perform their project more quickly than off-line conference, and assigning a role outside the range of their ability. In other words, team members can recognize work overload by utilizing MMS and this work overload can lead to team conflict. This study examines the effect of work overload through MMS use on team performance. We consider team engagement and team trust as the key drivers of team performance. However, team conflict will obstruct team engagement and team trust. Research model was analyzed by 135 university students who were doing several team projects. The analysis results show that work load through MMS use has a significant effect on team conflict. In other words, when work load is increased by utilizing MMS, it leads to team conflict. This team conflict loses trust between team member and hinders team performance. Lastly, this research provides several implications for right usage of MMS to improve team project performance.

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate a usability of using fashion and beauty service and suggest better user experience on Instagram's newly released mobile video platform, IGTV. The study expects to be a resource of improving the usability on fashion and beauty contents on IGTV and encourage further research for suggesting better guidelines. As a research method, it will experiment current mobile video service first with literature review. Afterwards, the research conducted tasks and in-depth interview with eight Instagram users to evaluate a usability of using fashion and beauty service on IGTV. As a result, it is able to derive two plans that needed improvement. Firstly, IGTV is required to have high accessibility for user's to use service longer and intuitive user experience. Secondly, unlike previous service that Instagram have offered, IGTV need to differentiate to share and get information of fashion and beauty trends.
