  • Medical records must be well protected because they are needed to care for the health of patients. For that reason, user authentication and medical data encryption are essential for the security of both wired and wireless Healthcare Information Systems (HIS). The main focus of this paper is on the analysis of the numerous possible attacks and the countermeasures to overcome these attacks in Mobile Healthcare Environment (MHE) with an appropriate security protocols. To draw a conclusion, this will propose why a healthcare architecture should establish a multi-layered defense against the risks.

  • In the field of Human-Computer Interaction design, persuasive design has gradually been applied to the system development and design process, especially for mobile application design. However, most mobile applications have hitherto a very short using lifecycle. Especially, design features with long-term persuasive effectiveness remain to be further researched and developed. In this study, we focused on investigating and identifying the durative persuasive design characteristics through a data mining process and evaluating the durative effectiveness through a long-term observation process. Total five hundred healthcare-related mobile applications were selected from Apple iTunes Store and a mixed method was conducted to extract the most common persuasive design characteristics. Based on the results of extraction, a representative healthcare-related mobile application was selected as experimental subject. Total one hundred and twenty participants were observed during a six-months experiment and the monitoring data of app usage of all participants was collected once a week. According to the evaluation model for behavior change identification process, participants with habit formation features were proved to have a significant long-term perception level for ten persuasive design characteristics. Further interview research was performed to investigate the participant's long-term perceptions on those characteristics for the purpose of identifying the durative persuasions. The results indicated that a long-term durative effectiveness can be observed and healthcare-related apps designed with those characteristics could have durative effectiveness. This study may contribute to the improvement of future mobile application designs in user experience and durative persuasion, as well as bringing future benefits for both mobile application developers and users.

  • The use of smart phones has had a great impact on the mobile internet business. It shows a lot of growth in the healthcare sector not only commerce, advertising, billing, games, video content, media, amd O2O business. The United States has eased the regulations for healthcare apps smart phone devices in 2015, and China has established a five-year road map to solve shortage of doctors and hospital beds by utilizing mobile devices such as wearable in the same year. The application of wearable devices in the medical field is gradually increasing in Korea too, but there is a security problem as leading challenge. Security incidents in non-ICT sectors such as financial, medical, etc. have increased by using ICT each year. Personal information leakage is also increasing in field likely occurring the potential secondary damages such as financial fraud, illegal promotions, insurance and pharmaceutical companies abuse. In this study, we analyze malwares as the mobile threats, the five risks of mobile smart phone, mobile use cases and the mobile threat countermeasures for healthcare.

  • In this paper, using the Android-based mobile platform designed and integrated U-healthcare systems for personal health care system is proposed. Integrated Biometric systems, electrocardiogram (ECG), oxygen saturation, blood pressure, respiration, body temperature, such as measuring vital signs throughout the module and signal processing biometric information through wireless communication module based on the Android mobile platform is transmitted to the gateway. Biometric data transmitted from a mobile health monitoring system, or transmitted to the server of U-healthcare was designed. By implementing vital signs monitoring system has been measured in vivo by monitoring data to determine current health status of caregivers had the advantage of being able to guarantee mobility respectively. This system is designed as personal health management and monitoring system for emergency patients will be helpful in the development looks U-healthcare system.

  • With the increased attention about health care and management of heart diseases, ubiquitous healthcare services and related devices have been actively developed recently. In this paper we developed a mobile healthcare system which consists of smartphone and patch-type ECG measuring device. This system is capable of monitoring, storing, and sending bio signals such as ECG, heart rate, heart rate variability as well as exercise management functions through heart rate zones. With monitoring bio signal continuously by mobile healthcare system and wearable device like us, people can prevent chronic disease and maintain good health. Here we report our implementation results on real platforms.

  • As telecommunication technologies in telemedicine services are developed, the expeditious development of wireless and mobile networks has stimulated wide applications of mobile electronic healthcare systems. However, security is an essential system requirement since many patients have privacy concerns when it comes to releasing their personal information over the open wireless channels. Due to the invisible feature of mobile signals, hackers have easier access to hospital networks than wired network systems. This may result in several security incidents unless security protocols are well prepared. In this paper, we analyzed authentication and authorization procedures for healthcare system architecture to apply secure M-health systems in the hospital environment. From the analyses, we estimate optimal requirements as a countermeasure to its vulnerabilities.

  • Healthcare service helps users' health management by collecting an individual user's activity and biometric data from mobile devices and by providing them to the user. As a result, it has become necessary to perform a research on how to show the collected data. According to information visualization, the same data can have various interpretations depending on how they are represented. Healthcare data must be elivered to information acceptors without errors or distortion as they are directly related to people's health. With the expansion of healthcare service by the development of technology, this study could measure various data from users and was started to provide a necessary guideline for the visualization of measured numerical data. To propose a specific visualization by applying the visualization direction, 5 types of data including present value, measured value, relative value, relation data, and prediction value were set as the values necessary for the continuous use of mobile healthcare. Visualization was proposed concretely by applying clarity, variable comparison, brevity, relation, reliability, independence, and contextuality, which are the criteria for vitalizing the healthcare service.

  • This paper implemented the u-Healthcare Context Information System (HCIS) supporting ubiquitous healthcare by using location, health and titrating environment information collected from sensors/devices equipped in home for healthcare home service. The HCIS is based on the Distributed Object Group Framework (DOGF), a management model which can customize distributed resources, and manages various context information, applications and devices as a group in healthcare home environment, as one more logical units. Also, this system provides continuous healthcare multimedia service considering a resident's location using Mobile Proxy, and the healthcare context information through Context Provider to a resident in home. For verifying execution of our system, we implemented the seamless multimedia service based on resident's location and the prescription/advice and schedule notification/alarm service as healthcare applications in home. And we showed the executing results of healthcare home service by using service device existed in the residential space on which the resident is located according to the healthcare scenario.

  • In mobile healthcare service, the accurate detection and the notification of the emergency situation are important to chronic patients' life. In the existing healthcare service, the medical staff or medical service provider always judges patients' health status by monitoring from the measured from bio-data. However, it is difficult to monitor many patients in real-time simultaneously, because the medical staff should monitor the health status continuously. Furthermore, an emergency condition diagnosis based solely on the statistical level of the bio-data may be difficult, since the emergency judgment of the bio-data might differ depending on the health characteristics of each person such as age, history of disease, gender, etc. In order to solve this problem, this article presents an mobile healthcare system for emergency bio-data management using a personalized emergency policy. The salient feature of the proposed mobile healthcare system is that the characteristics of the health status of an unique patient is defined to the policy, which is used to judge the emergency condition of the bio-data measured from the patient. The prototype of proposed mobile healthcare system has been built to demonstrate the design concept.
