  • The basic user location strategies proposed in current PCS(Personal Communication Services) Network are two-level Database strategies. These Databases which exist in the Signalling network always maintain user's current location information, and it is used in call setup process to a mobile user. As the number of PCS users are increasing, this strategies yield some problem such as concentrating signalling traffic on the Database, increasing Call setup Delay, and so on. In this paper, we proposed RCP(Reverse Connection setup Protocol) model, which apply RVC(Reverse Virtual Call setup) algorithm to PCS reference model, and CRCP(Cache algorithm in RCP) model, which adopt Caching strategies in the RCP model. When Cache-miss occur, we found that CRCP model require less miss-penalty than PCS model. Also we show that proposed models are always likely to yield better performance in terms of reduced Location Tracking Delay time.

  • Recently, the wireless positioning techniques and mobile computing techniques have rapidly developed to use location data of moving objects. The more the number of moving objects is numerous and the more periodical sampling of locations is frequent, the more location data of moving objects become very large. Hence the system should be able to efficiently manage mass location data, support various spatio-temporal queries for LBS, and solve the uncertainty problem of moving objects. Therefore, in this paper, innovating the location data of moving object effectively, we propose Rend 3DR-tree method to decrease the dead space and complement the overlapping of nodes by utilizing 3DR-tree with the indexing structure to support indexing of current data and history data.

  • In this paper, we address the issue of ensuring consistency of multiple data items requested in a certain order by read-only transactions in a wireless data broadcast environment. To handle the inherent property in a data broadcast environment that data can only be accessed strictly sequential by users, we explore a predeclaration-based query optimization and devise two practical transaction processing methods in the context of local caching. We also evaluate the performance of the proposed methods by an analytical study Evaluation results show that the predeclaration technique we introduce reduces response time significantly and adapts to dynamic changes in workload.

  • Push-based broadcasting in wireless information services is a very effective technique to disseminate information to a massive number of clients when the number of data items is small. When the database is large, however, it nay be beneficial to integrate a pull-based (client-to-server) backchannel with the push-based broadcast approach, resulting in a hybrid data delivery. In this paper, we analyze the performance behavior of a predeclaration-based transaction processing, which was originally devised for a push-based data broadcast, in the hybrid data delivery through an extensive simulation. Our results show that the use of predeclaration-based transaction processing can provide significant performance improvement not only in a pure push data delivery, but also in a hybrid data delivery.

  • Purpose: This study investigated the scope of patient navigation studies on women's health care for maternal health and noncancerous gynecologic conditions and aimed to report the characteristics of the identified patient navigation programs. Methods: A scoping review was conducted following Arksey and O'Malley's framework. Five electronic databases were searched for relevant studies published in English: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and PsycInfo. There were no restrictions on the publication date and the search was completed in July 2023. Results: This scoping review included 14 studies, which collectively examined seven patient navigation programs. All selected studies were related to maternal health issues (e.g., perinatal health problems and contraception for birth spacing). Close to two-thirds of the patient navigation services were provided by women (n=9, 64.3%) and half by lay navigators (n=7, 50.0%). The majority incorporated the use of mobile health technologies (n=11, 78.6%). All of the patient navigation programs included in the review coordinated the necessary clinical and social support services to improve women's access to care. Conclusion: Patient navigation appears to be in its nascent phase in the field of maternal health. The results of this study suggest that the implementation of patient navigation services could potentially improve access to care for socially disadvantaged women and families. Furthermore, providing patient navigation services that are specifically tailored to meet women's needs could improve the quality of maternity care.

  • In this paper, we concentrate on data allocation methods for multiple broadcast channels. When the server broadcasts data, the important issue is to let mobile clients access requested data rapidly. Previous works first sorted data by their access probabilities and allocate the sorted data to the multiple channels by partitioning them into multiple channels. However, they do not reflect the difference of access probabilities among data allocated in the same channel. This paper proposes ZGMD allocation method. ZGMD allocates data item on multiple channels so that the difference of access probability in the same channel is maximized. ZGMD allocates sorted data to each channels and applies Broadcast Disk in each channel. ZGMD requires a proper indexing scheme for the performance improvement. This is because in ZGMD method each channel got allocated both hot and cold data. As a result, the sequential search heuristic does not allow the mobile client to access hot data items quickly. The proposed index scheme is based on using dedicated index channels in order to search the data channel where the requested data is. We show that our method achieve the near-optimal performance in terms of the average access time and significantly outperforms the existing methods.

  • VE workshop is performed based on VE expert' experiences without retrieving VE data of similar previous projects. Moreover, it usually omitted or applied for the sake of formality due to insufficiently understanding VE function, limited time, space and budget. Even though many studies have established VE databases for retrieving and reusing VE data, VE workshop is still inefficient and ineffective to improve projects' values. With this regard, this study proposes a preliminary prototype for improving VE workshop, which utilizes the state-of-the-art information communication technologies(ICTs) including Building Information Modeling(BIM), Mobile Computing(MC), Network Service System(NSS), and Database Management System(DBMS) for better managing, storing and reusing VE data. The prototype was developed to evaluate advantages and limitations. The results show that the proposed prototype can support visual VE data retrieval from similar previous projects, enhance communication among VE team and save much time and cost comparing to traditional VE. Through this, the productivity of VE workshop can improve efficiently and effectively.

  • In the mobile computing environment, caching data at the client's side is a useful technique for improving the performance. For caching to be effective, the cache contents must be consistent with those stored in the server. That is, unfortunately, difficult to enforce due to the frequent disconnection and mobility of clients. In the literature, the basic approach adopted is for the sever to periodically broadcast invalidation reports(IRs) that contain information about objects that have been updated recently. However IR-based cache maintenance scheme has a main drawback. Any client who has been disconnected longer than w seconds has to discard all cached items even some of them may still be valid. In this paper, we propose two main schemes which can adapt clients' losing IR messages by long disconnection. First, the client sends its disconnection time when connection is re-established, and the server uses this information to decide the size of broadcast window w dynamically. Second, the server maintains IR messages for a given period of time and a client who has been disconnected longer than w seconds can verify its cache consistency individually. Compared to previous IR-based schemes, our schemes can significantly reduce cache missing and uplink request and improve the throughput by reducing response time.

  • Location-Based Services (LBSs) provide results to queries according to the location of the client issuing the query. In LBS, techniques such as caching and prefetching are effective approaches to reducing the data transmission from a server and query response time. However, they can lead to cache inefficiency and network overload due to the client's mobility and query pattern. To solve these drawbacks, we propose a semantic prefetching (SP) scheme using prefetching segment concept and improved cache replacement policies. When a mobile client enters a new service area, called semantic prefetching area, proposed scheme fetches the necessary semantic information from the server in advance. The mobile client maintains the information in its own cache for query processing of location-dependent data (LDD) in mobile computing environment. The performance of the proposed scheme is investigated in relation to various environmental variables, such as the mobility and query pattern of user, the distributions of LDDs and applied cache replacement strategies. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme is more efficient than the well-known existing scheme for range query and nearest neighbor query. In addition, applying the two queries dynamically to query processing improves the performance of the proposed scheme.

  • The results of location-dependent queries(LDQ) generally depend on the current locations of query issuers. Many mechanisms, e.g. broadcast scheme, hoarding, or racking policy, have been developed to improve the system peformance and provide better services, which are specialized for LDQs. Considering geographical adjacency of data and characteristics oi target area, caching policy and broadcast scheme affect the overall performance in LDQ. For this reason, we propose both the caching policy and broadcast scheme, which these features are reflected in. Based on the adjacency of data in LDQ, our broadcast scheme use Hilbert curve to cluster data. Moreover, in order to develop the caching policy suitable for LDQ on urban area, we apply the moving distance of a MH(Mobile Host) to our caching policy We evaluate the performance of the caching policy measuring the workload of MHs and the correctness of LDQ results and the performance of the broadcast scheme measuring the average setup-time of MHs in our experiments. Finally, we expect that our caching policy Provides more correct answers when executing LDQ in focal cache and leads significant improvement of the performance of MHs. It also seems quite probable that our broadcast scheme leads improvement of battery life of the MH.
