Smart Tourism: A Study of Mobile Application Use by Tourists Visiting South Korea

  • The purpose of this exploratory study is to identify the mobile phone applications (apps) used by foreign tourists visiting South Korea through a pilot study using focus groups and individual interviews. Concentrating on tourist mobile app use in a smart tourism environment and categorized through a taxonomy of mobile applications lays the framework and determines the factors boosting tourism smartphone app trends by foreign tourists visiting South Korea. Researchers collected data through ethnographic methods and analyzed it through qualitative research to uncover major themes within the smart tourism app use phenomenon. The researchers coded, counted, analyzed, and then divided the findings gleaned from a pilot study and interviews into a taxonomy of seven logical smartphone app categories. The labeling and coding of all the data accounting for similarities and differences can be recognized and are logically discussed in the implications of the apps used by tourists to assist tourist destinations. More specifically these findings will assist smart tourism destinations by better understanding foreign tourist smartphone app use behavior. Tourists visiting South Korea interviewed in this study exhibited significant mastery of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, craved free WiFi access, and utilized smartphone apps for all facets of their travel. Findings show major concentrations of app use in bookings of accommodations, tourist attractions, online shopping, navigation, wayfinding, augmented reality, information searching, language translation, gaming, and online dating while traveling in South Korea.

  • Recently, because the arrival of the fourth industrial revolution era, many information and telecommunication services have grown rapidly in the mobile business market. So, companies are based Mobile Apps on user customized services and expanding their services. From the standpoint of the business, to generate revenue, the company needs to maintain the existing current computer environment and develop Mobile Apps to offer convenience in various areas such as finance, admiration, e-commerce and sales support. However, as the number of users increase due to expansion of various Mobile services, security threats that are related to Mobile Apps are increasing and its damage is also increasing. Due to the rapid technological transformation of Mobile devices using the Internet, the level of security threats to Smartphones are rising and getting more advance, so this thesis is structured as follows. In Chapter 2, it will look at the overall trends of Mobile Apps as related research. In Chapter 3, it will discuss various security concerns that related to the latest Mobile Apps and learn about the threatening factors. In Chapter 4, it will compare and analyze the threatening factors. Then it will find and suggest the possible plan. In Chapter 5, it will end with conclusion. Finally, to protect mobile devices from security threats, the environment of operating system which manages the resources and data of Apps needs to be protected. Also, it is important that users to have awareness and check activation FinTech technology security in the process of simple payment with fingerprint or IC card.

Analysis of Indonesia's Digital Industry and the Case of Gojek

  • Indonesia's industrial application of digital technology is growing fast, especially in the application of mobile technology. About 1,700 digital startups are sprouting. PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa is one of those digital startups founded in 2010. This company is widely known, especially in Southeast Asia, for its products and services called 'Gojek' which was launched initially in 2015. Gojek began as a ride-hailing mobile-based application that later evolved into a Super App providing more than 20 different services in one single mobile application. After becoming Indonesian first unicorn company in 2016, Gojek now has become the first decacorn company in Indonesia, worth more than USD 10 billion since 2019. This paper aims to analyzes the technology industry in Indonesia and analyzes Gojek's background and history, its competitive status, and critical success factors. As a conclusion, we provide some advices for future development of Gojek in Indonesia and other countries in Southeast Asia's market. The advices include rebranding its overseas presence and the use of consistent brand identity across countries.

초기 사용자 문제 개선을 위한 앱 기반의 추천 기법 (Addressing the Cold Start Problem of Recommendation Method based on App)

  • The amount of data is increasing significantly as information and communication technology advances, mobile, cloud computing, the Internet of Things and social network services become commonplace. As the data grows exponentially, there is a growing demand for services that recommend the information that users want from large amounts of data. Collaborative filtering method is commonly used in information recommendation methods. One of the problems with collaborative filtering-based recommendation method is the cold start problem. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the cold start problem. That is, it solves the cold start problem by mapping the item evaluation data that does not exist to the initial user to the automatically generated data from the mobile app. We describe the main contents of the proposed method and explain the proposed method through the book recommendation scenario. We show the superiority of the proposed method through comparison with existing methods.

사용자 경험을 기반으로 한 학교도서관 모바일 앱 서비스 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of School Library Mobile App Service Based on User Experience)

  • 학교도서관에서 도서관 목록 검색 및 독서교육종합지원시스템에 접근할 수 있는 모바일 웹 서비스가 제공되고 있지만, 이용자의 요구를 반영하고 모바일기기의 특성을 고려한 서비스를 제공하지는 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 학교도서관 이용자 요구에 맞는 학교도서관 모바일 앱 서비스의 내용과 방안을 모색하고자 문헌연구, 학교도서관 모바일 웹 서비스 현황 분석, 학생과 교사의 모바일 서비스 사용자 경험 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문조사를 바탕으로 학교도서관 DLS 모바일 서비스의 내용구성 및 설계 방안을 마련하였다. 우선, 단계를 4단계에서 3단계로 축소하였다. 1단계에서는 회원가입 시 화면 잘림 오류 개선, 접근성을 높이기 위해 다양한 로그인 플랫폼을 추가하고, 2단계에서는 통합검색 및 상세검색, 이용교육 및 독서교육 자료 제공, 독후활동, 소속 학교도서관 이용안내와 공지사항, 상호대차, 전자책 등과 같이 주로 사용되는 메뉴를 제공하며, 3단계에서는 소장자료 검색결과 상세화면 표시를 중심으로 예약 등의 관련 기능을 제공하도록 제안하였다. 본 연구는 학교도서관을 위한 모바일 앱 서비스 개발에 활용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 현행 모바일 웹 서비스의 변경 시에도 적용할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Smart healthcare, combining ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) and medical technologies, has been rapidly emerging. Accordingly, its market has also increased as interest in disease prevention, management, and diagnosis grows due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, using mobile devices to support medical activities, mobile healthcare has been attracting attention as a leading service in the smart healthcare market. However, the intention to use mobile healthcare apps may vary depending on individual beliefs and attitudes. Many studies on the intention to use mobile healthcare apps have used the TAM (Technology Acceptance Model), but there is a lack of studies that have been verified from the perspective of users' health beliefs. This study aims to identify the factors that affect the intention to use mobile healthcare apps based on the HBM (Health Belief Model). Furthermore, it investigates how this influencing mechanism fluctuates based on the user's mHealth literacy, the ability to find and understand health information through mobile. This study contributes to the empirical examination of the intention to use mobile healthcare apps through the HBM. It also offers insights for app providers and public health officials to increase the use of mobile healthcare apps.

  • VOD 서비스는 디지털방송 시대에 방송사업자의 새로운 수익모델로 자리 잡은 가장 성공적인 방송통신융합 서비스로서 실시간 중심의 시청 패턴에서 주문형 동영상의 이용 비중이 확대됨에 따라 매출액이 증가 추세에 있으며 N-스크린 서비스의 전략 핵심이 되고 있다. 이런 배경 속에 방송사는 모바일 기기를 활용한 VOD 서비스 지원 기능을 제공하여 VOD 서비스를 더욱 활성화하는 VOD 서비스의 N-스크린 전략을 모색하고 있다. 본 논문은 국내 모(某) 디지털케이블방송사의 요구사항을 기반으로 개발된 VOD 모바일 앱을 소개한다. 본 VOD 모바일 앱은 방송사가 발간하는 VOD 가이드북에 홍보하는 VOD 프로그램 또는 이벤트 정보를 출력, 북마킹 또는 검색된 VOD 프로그램을 TV로 바로 시청, 스마트폰으로 촬영한 동영상을 TV로 시청하는 등의 기능들을 제공한다.

A Study on the Usage Factors of Mobile Banking Apps by Korean Banks in Vietnam: Focused on the Viewpoints of App User and App Provider

  • Purpose - Vietnam has the fastest growing digital economy in Southeast Asia and is emerging as a critical overseas market for Korean banks in the post-COVID-19 era. Accordingly, many Korean banks entered the Vietnamese market to overcome the limitations of the saturated domestic financial market and create new revenue sources. This study examined the current status of digital finance in Vietnam and the cases of Korean banks that have succeeded in the Vietnamese market. Then, importance-performance analysis (IPA) was conducted on local customers, managers and staff members of Korean banks in Vietnam. Design/methodology - In this study, we analyzed the importance and satisfaction factors of mobile banking app usage in Vietnam through IPA. In particular, we identified the differences between the two groups by considering the viewpoint of customers who use mobile banking apps and that of managers and staff members who provide mobile banking services. Findings - The IPA results from the customer group and managers and staff members group were generally similar, but differences were observed in Ease of Use (Technology), Innovativeness (Organization), and Increase in Revenue (Economic). In the case of the customer group, Ease of Use (Technology) is located in the second quadrant, which shows low satisfaction compared to high importance. However, in the managers and staff members group, Ease of Use (Technology) is located in the first quadrant, which indicates high importance and high satisfaction. This difference in perception can cause complaints from local customers; thus, it is necessary to change the perception of the technological aspect for ease of use of mobile banking apps in consideration of the customer's position. In addition, it is necessary to allocate the resources invested in the Innovativeness (Organization) and Increase in Revenue (Economic) to Ease of Use (Technology). Originality/value - In this study, based on the HOTE framework, factors for using mobile banking apps were derived, and IPA was conducted targeting local customers (app user) and managers and staff members (app provider) of Korean banks in Vietnam. Through this, we presented the results of empirical analysis that can help Korean banks efficiently utilize limited resources and budgets.

블록체인을 이용한 위변조 안드로이드 악성 앱 판별 (Identification of Counterfeit Android Malware Apps using Hyperledger Fabric Blockchain)

  • 대부분의 인터넷 서비스를 손쉽게 이용할 수 있다는 장점으로 인해 스마트폰 사용자가 지속적으로 증가하고 있으나, 위조앱이 급증하고 있어 스마트폰 내부에 저장된 개인정보가 외부로 유출되는 문제점이 발생하고 있다. Android 앱은 자바 언어로 개발되었기 때문에 디컴파일 과정을 수행한 후 리패키징 취약점을 역이용할 경우 손쉽게 위조앱을 만들 수 있다. 물론 이를 방지하기 위해 난독화 기술을 적용할 수 있으나 대부분의 모바일 앱에는 미적용 상태로 배포되고 있으며, 안드로이드 모바일 앱에 대한 리패키징 공격을 근본적으로 차단하는 것은 불가능하다. 또한 스마트폰 내에 앱을 설치하는 과정에서 위조 여부를 자체 검증하는 기능을 제공하지 않아 스마트폰내 저장된 개인정보가 외부로 유출되고 있다. 따라서 이를 해결하기 위해 Hyperledger Fabric 블록 체인 프레임 워크를 사용하여 정상앱 등록 과정을 구현하고 이를 기반으로 효율적으로 위조앱을 식별 및 탐지할 수 있는 메커니즘을 제시하였다.

생활물류 스타트업의 모바일 앱 사용성 평가 (Evaluation of Mobile App Usability of Logistics in Life Startups)

  • 4차 산업혁명의 도래에 따라 물류 스타트업이 주도하는 생활물류 서비스가 급성장하고 있다. 이들은 물류 틈새시장에서 기존 물류 기업들과는 차별화되는 고객의 편의성 제고에 중점을 둔 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 모바일 앱을 구축하여 온디맨드, O2O(online to offline), 편의물류, 역물류, 라스트 마일 배송을 구현하고 있다. 물류 스타트업 주도로 소화물뿐만 아니라, 음식배달, 원룸 이사, 세탁물 배송, 출장 세차, 출장 자동차 정비 등 생활물류 서비스가 성장하고 있다. 생활물류 스타트업의 주요 성공요인 중 하나는 사용성이 높은 모바일 앱을 구축하여 고객의 충성도를 높이는 일이다. 평가는 개선을 위한 출발점이지만 모바일 앱의 사용성은 모바일 폰이 가진 특성 때문에 웹사이트와는 차별화된 평가기준을 마련하고 평가되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 사용성 테스트 방법을 통하여 국내 대표적인 생활물류 모바일 앱의 사용성을 평가한 후 그 시사점과 개선방안을 제안한다. 그리고 구글 플레이의 최상위 인기 앱과 디자인 관점에서 비교한다.
