Intersexuality of Two Bivalve Species in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam (베트남 하롱베이 이매패류 2종의 intersexuality)

  • This study investigated concentration of metal ions in sediment and intersexuality in Polymesoda erosa and Lutraria lutraria. Samples were collected from five areas of Ha Long Bay in October, 2012. The concentration of metal ions showed that Al ($37390.0{\pm}11816.5mg/kg$) was highest and Mn ($360.4{\pm}101.4mg/kg$) was second high concentration. Cd ($0.04{\pm}0.05mg/kg$) was lowest. The intersexuality was 14.3% in P. erosa and 9.1% in L. lutraria that observed only in female.

A Study On Heavy Metal Contamination in the Different Size Fractions of Deposited Road Particles(DRPs) (노면퇴적물의 입자 크기에 따른 중금속 오염에 관한 연구)

  • Deposited road particles (DRPs) were analysed for heavy metal concentrations at four different roads in a city, Korea. The samples were collected using a roadway surface vacuum cleaning vehicle which was commonly used in collecting roadway surface particles. Six particle size ranges were analyzed separately for twelve heavy metal elements (Cd, Cr, Pb, Ni, Al, As, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn and Hg). At all sampling sites, the high concentration of the heavy metals occurred in the <74um particle size range, which conventional roadway cleaning vehicles do not remove efficiently. The Pb concentration significantly increased with decreasing particle size of DRPs, and other toxic heavy metals (Cd, Cr and Ni) also showed similar results. The heavy metal concentrations in the smaller size fraction of DRPs is important because they are contaminants that are preferentially transported by road runoff during rainfall.

The Study of Alumina Ceramic to Metal Bonding (알루미나 소결체와 금속간의 접합에 관한 연구)

  • The basic mechanism of adherence in sintered high purity alumina ceramic-to-metal bonding was studied. Emphasis was placed on flux composition, porosity of the fired ceramics, and metallizing mixtures. The study was conducted on 95 and 99.5% alumina, using molydbenum-manganese, molybdenum-manganese-silicon dioxide metallizing compositions. Metallizing was performed in wet hydrogen (dew point, +17$^{\circ}C$) at 145$0^{\circ}C$ for 45min. This experiment indicated that adhernece mechanism of ultra high purity alumina ceramic was attributed to formation of $MnAl_2O_$4, and in the case of 95% alumina containing glass, the migration of glass from the interface into the void of the metal coating was the main role to the adhrence. It showed also that greater the bond-strength was resulted as porosity was increased.

Effects of Metalloid Elements on the Mechanical Properties of Fe-Based Bulk Amorphous Alloys

  • In this study, the glass-forming ability and mechanical properties of newly developed Fe-Mn-Cr-Mo-B-C-P-Si-Al bulk amorphous alloys were investigated, and metalloid elements such as B, C, and P were found to have a strong influence on the properties of the Fe-based amorphous alloys. When the total metalloid content (B, C, and P) is less than 5 %, only the crystal phase is formed, but the addition of more than 10 % metalloid elements enhances the glass forming ability. In particular, the alloys with 10 % metalloid content exhibit the best combination of very high compressive strength (~2.8 GPa) and superior fracture elongation (~30 %) because they consist of crystal/amorphous composite phases.

A Study on the Leadless Raw Glaze for Domestic Earthen Ware (오지그릇용 무연생유에 관한 연구)

  • The study is an attempt to prepare the raw graze can replace the lead glaze that has been used for a long time as Korean Kimchi-jars. 1) The batch of the glaze that show the similar properties and appearance of lead-glaze were 40% of Yongin or Anseong Yakto, 40% of Ash and 20% of Anhydrous-Colemanite. It's Seger Formula was {0.86 CaO 0.02 MgO 0.12 KNaO} {0.26 Al2O3 0.0007 Fe2O3} 0.92 SiO2 0.3 B2O3 2) The firing temperature of selected glaze was 950-1050℃. 3) As the content of anhydrous-Colemanite was increased, the thermal expansion coefficient was decreased. 4) The color of leadless raw glaze was translucent light yellow. It was possible to obtain the same color as lead glaze by Fe2O3 and MnO2.

Fabrication and Reliability Properties of Ni-Cr Alloy Thin Film Resistors (Ni-Cr계 합금을 이용한 박막저항의 제작 및 신뢰성)

  • From the progressing results, it was found that thin film using 52 wt% Ni - 38 wt% Cr - 3 wt% Al - 4 wt% Mn - 3 wt% Si target has good characteristics for low TCR (temperature coefficients of resistance) and high resistivity. The optimum sputtering condition was DC 250 W, 5 mtorr, and 50 sccm and the proper annealing condition was $350^{\circ}C$/3.5 hr in air atmosphere. At these fabricated conditions, thin film resistors with TCR values of less than ${\pm}10ppm/^{\circ}C$ were obtained. The TCR of the packaged-samples made at proper fabrication conditions was $-3{\sim}15ppm/^{\circ}C$ after the thermal cycling and $-20{\sim}180ppm/^{\circ}C$ after PCT (pressure cooker test), we could confirm reliability for the thin film resistor and find the need for enduring research about packaging method.

Effects of Transition Metal Oxides on Mechanical Properties of Y-TZP

  • Mechanical propeties of $Y_2O_3$-containing tetragonal $ZrO_2$ polycrystals(Y-TZP) were investigated. Several additives were used to modify the hardness fracture toughness of Y-TZP. The effects of these individual additives were discussed and their interactions were also analyzed. Each additive, such as CoO, $Fe2O3, MnO_2$ was found to deteriorate the mechanical propeties of Y-TZP when it was used singly. But the fracture toughness of Y-TZP was singnificantly improved when these additives and $Al_2O_3$ were added in combination at a certain ratio.

  • Effects of Si and Ni addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the Cu-12wt.%Al-5wt.%Fe-1wt.%Mn alloy have been investigated experimentally. Microstructure of the as-cast specimen is found to be refined markedly by additions of Ni and Si. By the addition of Ni, volume fraction of the ${\kappa}$ phase is increased, but volume fraction of the ${\gamma}$ phase is decreased. Hardness is increased with the addition of Ni, due to increasing of ${\kappa}$ phase which is harder than ${\gamma}$ phase. However, Charpy impact value is not significally decreased possibly due to the formation of isolate ${\kappa}$ phase.

An Analysis on the Water Quality of Limestone Cave System in Danyang region (단양지역에 분포한 석회암동굴계의 수질에 대한 분석)

  • 본 연구에서는 단양지역에 분포한 석회암동굴계의 수질에 대한 주요 원소와 미량 원소 그리고 오염실태를 살펴보았다. 풍화물에 존재하는 미량 원소가 기반암보다 수 배 내지 수 백배 이상 부하되어 있었다. TSD와 EC 등은 화강암의 지하수 보다 높은 경향이 있었고 pH는 중성 내지 알칼리성이었다. Ca와 Mg은 기반암에서 용탈되어 지하수로 용존된 것으로 50ppm이상을 함유하고 있다. Fe과 K은 다른 주요 원소보다 현저히 낮은 경향이 있었다. 주요 음이온인 F$^{-}$ , Cl$^{-}$ , NO$_3$$^{-}$ , SO$_4$$^{-}$ 등은 환경기준치 보다도 현저히 낮은 상태이며, 따라서 오염이 안된 상태로 볼 수 있다. 미량 원소중 Al, Sr, Ba등이 높은 반면에 Co, Mo, Sb, Cs, W, Pb, U, Mn 등은 매우 극소량으로 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 연구지역 중 온달굴, 고수굴, 천동, 노동 등지는 오염이 거의 안된 상태로 매우 양호한 편이나 천동굴은 관광객으로 인하여 일부 원소가 오염되어 있는 실정이다.
