The adsorption equilibrium data for the binary gas mixture system from the pure gas adsorption data of carbon dioxide and ethylene on ZSM-5 prepared were predicted. The binary gas mixture adsorption data have been examined against predicted values by two models-the vacancy solution model(VSM) and the statistical thermodynamic model(STM), using parameters obtained from the single component isotherm. The binary gas mixture data for the carbon dioxide-ethylene system were obtained for cation exchanged forms of ZSM-5 for the gas phase carbon dioxide mole fraction of 0.752 at $37^{\circ}C$ and 1 atm. The experimental adsorption phase diagrams were obtained for carbon dioxide-ethylene on sodium form ZSM-5 synthesized. The single component adsorption isotherms for carbon dioxide and ethylene were also obtained for this zeolite. The single component data were used to obtain parameters derived in two models. These parameters were, in turn, used to predict the binary mixture isotherms for this zeolite. Both the vacancy solution and the statistical thermodynamic models give satisfactory predictions of adsorption phase diagrams for the binary gas mixtures of carbon dioxide and ethylene on sodium exchanged ZSM-5. Also the correlation between the experimental data and the predicted values is generally in good agreement. The system appears to show ideal behavior with a relatively constant separation factor. The slight increase in adsorption capacity with an increase in ionic radius is due, in part, to the higher polarizability associated with larger cations.
The focus of this work is placed on the analysis of the mixture formation mechanism under the evaporative diesel spray of impinging and free conditions. As an experimental parameter, ambient gas density was selected. Effects of density variation of ambient gas on liquid and vapor-phase inside structure of evaporation diesel spray were investigated. Ambient gas density was changed between ${\rho}a=5.0\;kg/m^3$ and $12.3\;kg/m^3$. In the case of impinging spray, the spray spreading to the radial direction is larger due to the decrease of drag force of ambient gas in the case of the low density than that of the high density. On the other hand, in the case of free spray, in accordance with the increase in the ambient gas density, the liquid-phase length is getting short due to the increase in drag force of ambient gas. In order to examine the homogeneity of mixture consisted of vapor-phase fuel and ambient gas in the spray, image analysis was conducted with statistical thermodynamics based on the non-dimensional entropy (S) method. In the case of application of entropy analysis to diesel spray, the entropy value always increases. The entropy of higher ambient density is higher than that of lower ambient gas density during initial injection period.
Fuel processing systems which convert fuel into rich gas (such as stream reforming, partial oxidation, autothermal reforming) need high temperature environment ($600{\sim}1,000^{\circ}$). Generally, anode-off gas or mixture of anode-off gas and LNG is used as input gas of fuel reformer. In order to make efficient and low emission burner system for fuel reformer, it is necessary to elucidate the combustion and emission characteristic of fuel reformer burner. The purpose of this study is to develop a porous premixed flat ceramic burner that can be used for 1~5 kW fuel cell reformer. Ceramic burner experiments using natural gas, hydrogen gas, anode off gas, mixture of natural gas & anode off gas were carried out respectively to investigate the flame characteristics by heating capacity and equivalence ratio. Results show that the stable flat flames can be established for natural gas, hydrogen gas, anode off gas and mixture of natural gas & anode off gas as reformer fuel in the porous ceramic burner. For all of fuels, their burning velocities become smaller as the equivalence ratio goes to the lean mixture ratio, and a lift-off occurs at lean limit. Flame length in hydrogen and anode off gas became longer with increasing the heat capacity. In particular, the blue surface flame is found to be very stable at a very lean equivalence ratio at heat capacity and different fuels. The exhausted NOx and CO measurement shows that the blue surface flame represents the lowest NOx and CO emissions since it remains very stable at a lean equivalence ratio.
The effects of density change of ambient gas on mixture formation process have been investigated in high temperature and pressure field. To analyze the mixture formation process of evaporating diesel spray is important for emissions reduction in actual engines. Ambient gas density was selected as experimental parameter. The ambient gas density was changed from $r_a=5.0kg/m^3\;to\;r_a=12.3kg/m^3$ with a high pressure injection system(ECD-U2). For visualization of the experiment phenomenon, a CVC(Constant Volume Chamber) was used in this study. The ambient temperature and injection pressure are kept as 700K and 72MPa, respectively. The images of liquid and vapor phase in the evaporating free spray were simultaneously taken by exciplex fluorescence method. As experimental results, with increasing ambient gas density, the tip penetration of the evaporating free spray decreases due to the increase in the drag force from ambient gas.

The improvement of luminance and luminous efficiency is the one of the most important parts in AC-PDPs. To achieve high luminance and luminous efficiency, high VUV emission efficiency is needed. We measured the emission spectra of the vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) rays in surface discharge AC-PDP with ternary gas mixture of He-Ne-Xe. The influence of He-Ne-Xe gas-mixture ratio on excited $Xe^{\ast}$ resonant atoms and $Xe_2\;^{\ast}$ dimers has been investigated. It is found that luminous efficiency of ternary gas mixture, He-Ne-Xe, is shown to be much higher than that of binary gas mixture of Ne-Xe. For improving discharge luminous efficiency, we have studied VUV emission characteristics of ternary gas mixture, He(50%)-Ne-Xe and He(70%)-Ne-Xe with Xe concentration and filling gas pressure.
Fluoronitriles-$CO_2$ gas mixtures are promising alternatives to $SF_6$ in environmentally-friendly gas-insulated transmission lines (GILs). Insulating gas heat transfer characteristics are of major significance for the current-carrying capacity design and operational state monitoring of GILs. In this paper, a three-dimensional calculation model was established for a GIL using the thermal-fluid coupled finite element method. The calculated results showed close agreement with experimentally measured data. The temperature distribution of a GIL filled with the Fluoronitriles-$CO_2$ mixture was obtained and compared with those of GILs filled with $CO_2$ and $SF_6$. Furthermore, the effects of the mixture ratio of the component gases and the gas pressure on the temperature rise and current-carrying capacity of the GIL were analyzed. Results indicated that the heat transfer performance of the Fluoronitriles-$CO_2$ gas mixture was better than that of $CO_2$ but worse than that of $SF_6$. When compared with $SF_6$, use of the Fluoronitriles-$CO_2$ gas mixture caused a reduction in the GIL's current-carrying capacity. In addition, increasing the Fluoronitriles gas component ratio or increasing the pressure of the insulating gas mixture could improve the heat dissipation and current-carrying capacity of the GIL. These research results can be used to design environmentally-friendly GILs containing Fluoronitriles-$CO_2$ gas mixtures.
With recent experiments to add He atoms to the Ne-Xe discharge gas mixture for high luminous efficiency PDPs, we have performed simulations on a coplanar structured AC-PDP sustained in the three species He-Ne-Xe gas mixture. We found that the correct ion mobilities are essential to get the meaningful simulation results. We determined ion mobilities in the mixture gas and presented the calculated results regarding the influence of ion mobilities on discharge characteristics.
This paper describes the information for quantitative simulation of weakly ionized plasma. We must grasp the meaning of the plasma state condition to utilize engineering application and to understand materials of plasma state. $SF_6$ gas is widely used in industrial of insulation field. In this paper, $N_2$ is mixed to improve pure $SF_6$ gas characteristics. Electron transport coefficients in $SF_6-N_2$ mixture gases are simulated in range of E/N values from 70 to 400 [Td] at 300K and 1 Torr by using Boltzmann equation method. The results of this method. which are ionization coefficient, attachment coefficient, effective ionization coefficient, and critical E/N, can be important data to present characteristic of gas for insulation. Specially critical E/N is a data to evaluate insulation strength of a gas and is presented in this paper for various mixture ratios of $SF_6-N_2$ mixture gases.

A turbulent premixed flames of layer formed between burned hot gas and unburned mixture were investigated by means of schlieren photograph with fluctuations of temperature and ion current. The combustion intensity between burned hot gas and shear layer was higher than the intensity between unburned mixture and shear layer. A wrinkled laminar flame and flamelet were appeared at downstream to exist and distributed reaction zone was at upstream as a result of analyzed probability density functions of temperature fluctuation. The initial combustion intensity of reaction zone of eddy between burned hot gas and shear layer was higher than that of final, flowing downstream, and vice versa between unburned mixture and shear layer.
$SF_6$ is widely used as gas insulation medium because of having excellent dielectric and arc-quenching properties. However the use of it is getting to be suppressed from the viewpoint of mitigating global warming. For the development of environmentally-benign electric power equipment and system, novel gases or mixture gases are strongly required as the substitute of $SF_6$ gas. In this study the authors constructed an experimental system to investigate insulation properties of the mixed gases composed of negative $gas(SF_6)$ and electron deceleration gases$(N_2\;and\;CO_2)$. Breakdown and prebreakdown characteristics of $SF_6/N_2/CO_2$ mixture gases were investigated using the above mentioned system for different rates and gas pressures.
