LPG/바이오디젤 혼합연료를 사용하는 직접분사식 디젤엔진의 성능 및 배기특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Performance and Emission Characteristics of a DI Diesel Engine Operated with LPG / Bio-diesel Blended Fuel)

  • 본 연구에서는 LPG/바이오디젤 혼합연료의 직접분사식 디젤엔진 적용성에 관한 실험을 수행하였다. 특히, 혼합연료를 엔진에 적용하는 경우 엔진성능, 배출가스 (미연탄화수소, 일산화탄소, 질소산화물, 이산화탄소), 연소안정성에 대한 실험을 1,500 rpm의 엔진회전수 조건에서 수행하였다. 바이오디젤은 질량대비 20-60% 범위로 LPG에 혼합하였다. 바이오디젤을 40% 이상 혼합하는 경우 엔진은 모든 부하영역에서 매우 안정적으로 연소되었다. 바이오디젤의 혼합율이 증가할수록 혼합연료의 세탄가가 향상되어 연소시작 시점이 진각되었다. 혼합연료를 사용하면 저부하에서는 과혼합에 의한 부분연소로 인하여 THC와 CO의 배출량이 급증하였으며, NOx의 경우 저부하에서는 배출량이 디젤연료에 비해서 낮았으며 고부하에서는 더 많이 배출되었다.

수송 연료용 부분산화 개질기의 운전특성 (Operation characteristics of partial oxidation reformer for transportation fuels)

  • Partial oxidation reformer was fabricated and operated using commercial transportation fuels. Fuel injector and heating coil were used for fuel atomization and startup, respectively. The reformer was designed to produce syngas for $150{\sim}200W_e$ class solid oxide fuel cell. The reformer was operated in the $O_2$/C range between 0.6 and 0.8 while the capacity was fixed at $150W_e$. The temperature range in catalyst bed was between $500^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$. Only 83% fuel was converted to $H_2$, CO, $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ at the operating conditions. The lowest temperature increase to $700^{\circ}C$ when the reformer was operated at $200W_e$, Although the temperature profiles was improved, fuel conversion was 88%. On the other hand, fuel was completely converted when micro-reactor operated at the same condition. This difference maybe due to aromatic compounds formation at homogeneous region. In addition, a significant amount of coke deposition was observed at vent line. Homogeneous reaction depends on the degree of mixing. For this purpose, two fluid nozzle and Ultra sonic injector were compared to investigate the effect of atomization. Sauter mean diameter(SMD) of Ultra sonic injector was lower than two-fluid nozzle at test condition. However, conversion efficiency and fuel conversion were not improved by using two-fluid nozzle. these results imply that the temperature of homogeneous reaction region should be controlled to prevent coke formation.

벙커 C유를 사용한 에멀젼 연료유의 배기가스 특성 (Emission Evaluation of Emulsion Fuel Prepared from Bunker C Oil)

  • 본 연구에서는 OIMS90과 NP12 계면활성제 혼합물을 사용하여 물/벙커 C 오일 비율, 계면활성제 농도 및 조성, 유화 시간, 교반 속도 및 시간, 온도 등을 변화시키면서 유중수적형(water-in-oil, W/O) 에멀젼 연료를 제조하였다. OIMS90과 NP12 계면활성제 혼합물을 사용하여 제조한 에멀젼 연료는 벙커 C 오일에 비하여 미세먼지, $NO_2$, CO, $CO_2$$SO_2$ 등의 연소배기 가스 중의 대기 오염물 방출을 감소시키는데 효과적이며, 특히 계면활성제 조성 OIMS90/NP12 = 4 : 6, 계면활성제 농도 500 ppm, 수분 함량 10%을 사용하여 $80^{\circ}C$에서 제조한 에멀젼 연료가 배기가스 오염물 저감 효과가 가장 큰 것을 확인하였다. 또한 보일러 효율 측정 시험 결과, 에멀젼 연료가 벙커 C 오일과 비교하여 우수한 디젤 엔진 에너지 효율을 나타내었다.

  • This work experimentally investigates that Diesel-DME blended fuel influences combustion characteristics and emissions (NOx, CO, HC, smoke) in a single-cylinder DI diesel engine. Diesel is used as a main fuel and DME is blended for the use of its quick evaporating characteristics. Diesel and DME are blended by the method of weight ratio. Weight ratios for Diesel and DME are 95:5 and 90:10 respectively and the both ratios have been used altogether in blended fuel. The experiments are conducted in this study single cylinder engine is equipped with common rail and injection pressure is 700 bar at 1200 rpm. The amount of injected fuels is adjusted to obtain the fixed input calorie value as 972.2 J/cycle in order to compare with the fuel conditions. DME is compressed to 15 bar by using nitrogen gas thus it can be maintained the liquid phase. In this study, different system compared others paper is common rail system, also there is combustion and emission about compared DME and diesel fuel. It is expected to be utilized about blended fuel.

Effects of Powder Property and Sintering Atmosphere on the Properties of Burnable Absorber Fuel : I. $UO_2-Gd_2O_3$ Fuel

  • UO$_2$-Gd$_2$O$_3$fuel has been sintered to study the effect of powder property and sintering atmospheres on densification and microstructure. Three types of powders have been used; AUC-UO$_2$ powder and ADU-UO$_2$ powder were mixed with Gd$_2$O$_3$ Powder, and co-milled AUC-UO$_2$ and Gd$_2$O$_3$ powder. UO$_2$-(2, 5, 10)wt% Gd$_2$O$_3$pellets have been sintered at 168$0^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours in the mixture of H$_2$ and $CO_2$ gases, of which oxygen potential has been controlled by the ratio of $CO_2$ to H$_2$ gas. Densities of UO$_2$-Gd$_2$O$_3$ fuel pellets are quite dependent on powder types, and UO$_2$-Gd$_2$O$_3$ fuel using co-milled UO$_2$ powder yields the highest density. A long range homogeneity of Gd is determined by powder mixing. As the oxygen potential of sintered atmosphere increases, the sintered densities of UO$_2$-Gd$_2$O$_3$ pellets decrease but grain size increases. In addition, (U, Gd)O$_2$ solid solution becomes more homogeneous. The UO$_2$-Gd$_2$O$_3$fuel having adequate density and homogeneous microstructure can be fabricated by co-milling powder and by high oxygen potential.

혼합층의 지연효과를 배제한 비정상 대향류 확산 화염의 소화 (The extinction of unsteady counterflow diffusion flame without the retardation effect of a mixing layer)

  • The extinction of unsteady diffusion flame was experimentally studied in an opposing jet counterflow burner using diluted methane. The stabilized flame was perturbed by linearly varying velocity change that was generated by pistons installed on both sides of the air and fuel stream. As the results, the extinction of unsteady flame is dependent not only on the history of unsteadiness, but also on the initial condition. We found that there are several unsteady effects on the flame extinction. First, the extinction strain rates of unsteady cases are extended well beyond steady state extinction limits. Second, as the slope of the strain rate change increases, the unsteady extinction strain rate becomes larger. Third, the extension of unsteady extinction strain rate becomes smaller as the initial strain rate increases. We also found that the extension of the extinction limit mainly results from the unsteady response of the reaction zone because there is no retardation effect of a mixing layer for our experimental condition.

해양 퇴적토전지의 발전 특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Electricity Generation of Marine Sediment Cells)

  • Sediment cell is renewable energy which produces electric energy using immanent ingredients or reducing power of marine sediment as natural resources. Also the cell has an advantage that environmental pollution can be reduced through conversion of organic and inorganic contaminants into inert matter with generation of the energy. In this paper, we compared characteristics of electricity generation of the two different sediment cells, and investigated the regeneration effect of the sediment cells with manipulation of the sediment such as mixing and re-positioning. The results showed that 14.1 $W/m^2$ of power was obtained with the aluminum electrode, and the mixing of the sediment could increase the power by 4 $W/m^2$ compared to the control. Also, mixing the sediment has kept electricity for 4 weeks at a relatively constant level, which implied 'fuel regeneration effect'. Meanwhile, the sediment cell was proved to be effective in reduction of COD, which was up to 28.6%.

  • Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) has low operating temperature and high efficiency. And PEMFC consists of many components as bipolar plate, gas diffusion layer, membrane etc.. Flow-field in bipolar plate roles path for transporting reactants to membrane. Therefore a design of flow-field has an effect on PEMFC's performance. In this study, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations were performed for comparing mixed multiple serpentine (MMS) flow-field and multiple serpentine (MS) flow-field. And we studied an effect according to change mixing region design in MMS flow-field. Finally the applicability of results is verified by performing CFD simulation about fixed MMS flow-field which is combined good designs.

  • The 4th generation SFR is being designed with a milestone of construction by 2028. It is important to understand the subchannel flow characteristics in fuel assembly through the experimental investigations and to estimate the calculation uncertainties for insuring the confidence of the design code calculation results. The friction coefficient and the mixing coefficient are selected as primary parameters. The two parameters are related to the flow distribution and diffusion. To identify the flow distribution, an iso-kinetic method was developed based on the previous study. For the mixing parameters, a wire mesh system and a laser induced fluorescence methods were developed in parallel. The measuring systems were adopted on 37 rod bundle test geometry, which was developed based on the Euler number scaling. A scaling method for a design of experimental facility and the experimental identification techniques for the flow distribution and mixing parameters were developed based on the measurement requirement.

  • Several methods for electrode fabrication of phosphoric acid fuel cell(PAFC) have been studied. The conventional methods that include a coating method and a rolling method, have disadvantages of a very complicated drying process and a hot pressing process for making a large electrode. In this study, to solve these problems, the mixing method of coating and rolling processes has been developed. In the mixing method, the electrode was coated on the electrode support and, after drying the coated layer, was rolled at room temperature and then sintered at $350^{\circ}C$. The single cell performances of the electrodes fabricated by several methods were examined and the mixing method appeared a good cell performance of 0.65 V, $260\;mA/cm^2$. Also the single cell with an area of $2000\;cm^2$ was manufactured and its performance attained 0.593 V, 300 A.
