스태틱 믹서 개발 및 응용 (Development and Application of Static Mixer)

  • One of the most widely used static mixers is Sulzer type mixer. However the structure of the element is so complicated that the mixing efficiency is better than others, whereas the pressure drop is larger than the others. Therefore new elements are necessary to reduce the pressure drop and to minimize the decrease of the mixing efficiency compared with the Sulzer ones. The objectives of this study are to develop new static mixer and to perform the experimental investigation in order to evaluate the performance of the new one, and to investigate the applicability of the one in an inline coagulant mixing system for water treatment, The pressure drops of the new static mixer elements were about 4-12% lower than that of the Sulzer SMX one, and the mixing efficiency of the Sulzer SMX one was about 2-5% higher than that of the new ones. The inline coagulant mixing system with a new static mixer element performed significantly better than the traditional mechanical mixing system for turbidity removal.

  • Laboratory investigation was conducted to evaluat the mixing effects on organic removal efficiency to treat low-strength synthetic wastewater using modified anaerobic - filter reactor combining anaerobic filter and upflow anaerobic sludge blanket. Using the modified process the low-strength wastewater like municipal sewage could be treated with 85% T-COD removal efficiency at hydraulic retention time of 6 hours. At the constant organic loading of 0.5 kg COD/m 3-day, the organic removal efficiency and effluent COD concentration are increased as influent COD concentration increased from 125 mg/l to 500 mg/l. Mixing effects on organic removal efficiency are evident and optimum mixing speed is found as 50RPM. Placing the granular sludge and media on which slime layer was pre-formed into the reactor seemed to be very effective In achieving short start-up period. Therefore, the steady state was achived after 4 weeks and 1 week based on T-COD and S-COD, respectively.

Recess Effects on Spray Characteristics of Swirl Coaxial Injectors

  • Recess is a geometrical configuration shape that the exit surface of an inner injector is located at a certain length inward from that of an outer injector. It is known to have the characteristics that it can augment mixing efficiency and flame stabilization through internal mixing of propellant in it. So, various experiments, such as backlit stroboscopic photography, phase Doppler particle analyzer(PDPA) and mechanical patternator, were performed at several recess lengths to grasp its effect on the spray characteristics of spray angle, breakup length, atomization and' mixing. Recess length was normalized to dimensionless recess number and two principal mechanisms of impingement and swirl recovery were introduced to explain its influence on the spray characteristics. The effect of recess on SMD doesn't appear significantly near the recess number where mixing efficiency attains to the maximum, whereas mass distribution and mixing efficiency are changed considerably. Thus, it can be inferred that a certain optimum recess number exists, where mixing efficiency becomes the maximum.

  • Unlike impinging Quadlet injector(OOOF type)에 대한 혼합효율, 혼합특성속도, 혼합특성속도효율을 연소성능을 예측하기 위해 비연소 실험을 통하여 구하였다. 모의 추진제는 물($H_2$O)와 케로신($CH_{1.97}$)을 사용하였고, 혼합상관인자로써 산화제, 연료 분류의 운동량비를 사용하였다. 인젝터 분무특성을 파악하기 위해 오리피스(orifice) 각 hole에 대한 유량계수, 분무형상, 질량분포 획득이 수행되어졌다. 연구 결과, 침투깊이는 혼합효율, 혼합특성속도, 혼합특성속도 효율에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 혼합효율 및 혼합특성속도 효율은 MR=1.67(TMR=2.5)에서 87%로 최대값을 가지며 산화제 과잉상태보다 연료 과잉상태에서 더 큰 감소율을 보였다.

  • Effective mixing plays a crucial role in microfluidics for biochemical applications. Owing to the small device scale and its entailing the low Reynolds number, the mixing in microchannels proceeds very slowly. In this work, we optimize the configuration of obstacles in the Y-channel mixer in order to attain maximum mixing efficiency. Before the optimum design, mixing characteristics are investigated using unstructured grid CFD method. Then, the analysis method is employed to construct the approximate analysis model to be used in the optimization procedure. The main optimization tool in the present work is sequential quadratic programming method. Using this approximate optimization procedure, we may obtain the optimum layout of obstacles in the Y-channel mixer in an efficient manner, which gives the maximum mixing efficiency.

혼합촉진장치 적용시 유동장 변화에 의한 탈황효율 연구 (A Study on the Desulfurization Efficiency as a Variation of Flow Field Applyed a Mixing Enhancement Apparatus)

  • This paper has designed a mixing enhancement apparatus called Lobed-plate and Step-plate and comparatively calculated desulfurization efficiency of when its shape was changed. The parameters used at this time were the shape, SR ratio and the number of nozzles of the mixing enhancement apparatus and comparatively analyzed desulfurization efficiency according to these parameters. As a result, the Step-plate appeared as more highly by around 4% than Lobed-plate in desulfurization efficiency according to the shape of the mixing promotion apparatus, and when the desulfurization efficiency as a SR ratio is considered, it appeared highly by an average of 5% when the SR ratio is 3 rather than 2. As a result of comparing desulfurization efficiency by fixing the SR ratio and setting the number of nozzles as 4 pieces and 6 pieces, there was no big change in desulfurization efficiency when the SR ratio is 2, but it could be confirmed to improve by around 5% when the SR ratio is 3 when time passed 8 seconds.

준 능동형 로터를 이용한 마이크로 혼합기의 제작 및 혼합특성 (Fabrication and Mixing Characteristics of a Micro-Mixer with a Quasi-Active Rotor)

  • A micro-mixer with a quasi-active rotor was fabricated, and mixing characteristics were evaluated. The proposed micro-mixer combines an active type micro-mixer with a passive type micro-mixer. The micro-rotor, which is a moving part of an active type micro-mixer, is added in a micro-chamber of a passive type vortex micro-mixer. The rotor rotated by inflows tangent to a chamber, causing strong perturbations. The micro-mixers were fabricated using photosensitive glass. Mixing efficiency of the micro-mixers was measured using an image analysis method. Mixing efficiency and characteristics of the micro-rotor mixer were compared with the vortex micro-mixer without a rotor. Mixing efficiency was reduced as Reynolds number increased at a low Reynolds number due to decrease of residence time. Mixing efficiency at higher Reynolds number, on the other hand, was improved even though residence time decreased since the contact surface between fluids increased by twisted flow. The perturbation induced by rotating rotor at greater than Re 200 improved the efficiency of the rotor mixer.

  • The mixing of propellant and its mass distribution of unlike-doublet impinging injector, which is known to affect the combustion efficiency significantly, have been studied using PLIF(Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence). The results show that fuel jet penetrates considerably into the oxidizer jet at impinging point as variation of momentum ratio. and then stream flows inclined because of variation of momentum ratio. Consequently, the mixing efficiency shows that maximum efficiency is at MR=3. after MR=3, mining efficiency decreases slightly.

  • 이중 충돌형(unlike doublet impinging) 분사기의 직경변화에 따른 혼합특성을 모사 추진제에 의한 실험적인 방법으로 연구하였다. 분사유동은 레이놀즈수 2,500부터 12,000 사이의 난류제트를 사용하였으며, 분사공 직경 비를 1부터 1.5까지 확대시켜 직경변화에 따른 혼합특성을 고찰하였다. 분사공의 형상변수는 최적의 혼합특성을 갖는 설계치로 고정하였으며, 대기압 하의 분사유동장의 공기역학적 영향은 배제하였다. 매개변수로서 운동량비를 사용하여 혼합효율의 변화(mixing doublet impinging)를 고찰하였으며, 패터네이터(patternater)를 사용하여, 연료와 산화제의 국소 질량분포 측정 및 혼합비 분포를 측정하였다. 운동량비와 혼합효율의 상관성을 침투정도로 고려하여 연료와 산화제의 속도비와 혼합효율의 상관성을 고찰하였다. 분사공 직경이 증가됨에 따라 최대 혼합효율점이 운동량비가 증가되는 방향으로 이동함을 보였으며, 연료와 산화제의 속도 비 0.65~0.7영역에서 분사공 직경변화와 무관하게 혼합효율이 최대가 되었다. 또한 혼합효율은 추진제의 분사 충돌 시 상대제트의 침투 깊이 정도에 따라 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다.

혼합 촉진 장치의 형상에 따른 탈황효율 비교 (Comparison of the $SO_2$ Removal Efficiency by Mixing Enhancement Shape)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대형 석탄 화력 발전소에 DSI (Dry Sorbent Injection)공정을 실제 적용 할 경우에 실현 가능성에 대한 연구로서 N 발전(주)의 S 화력발전본부에서 운용중인 500MW급 석탄화력 발전시설의 보일러 후단에서 전기 집진기 전 단까지를 모델로 삼아 Lab-scale 실험장치를 제작하여 탈황효율을 높이기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 Lobedplate와 Step-plate라는 혼합촉진장치를 고안하고 각각 형상을 달리하여 궁극적으로 탈황효율을 높이기 위한 혼합촉진장치의 최적 형상도출을 위한 실험을 수행하였으며 부수적으로 탈황제의 분사구의 개수에 따른 탈황효율 또한 분석하였다. 그 결과 혼합촉진장치가 설치된 경우가 더 높은 탈황 효율을 나타내었고 형상에서는 계단형상일 경우 가장 높은 탈황효율을 보였다. 또한, 탈황제의 분사구의 개수에 따른 탈황효율은 혼합 촉진 장치가 설치되지 않은 경우, 분사구의 개수가 증가할수록 높은 탈황 효율을 보였으나 혼합촉진장치가 설치된 경우는 분사구의 개수가 4개일 경우가 이론적 결과와 같이 가장 높은 탈황효율을 나타내었다.
