  • In longitudinal studies missing data are common and require a complicated analysis. There are two popular modeling frameworks, pattern mixture model (PMM) and selection models (SM) to analyze the missing data. We focus on the PMM and we also propose Bayesian pattern mixture models using generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs) for longitudinal binary data. Sensitivity analysis is used under the missing not at random assumption.

  • Mixed finite element formulations for incompressible materials show pressure oscillations or pressure modes in four-node quadrilateral elements. The criterion for the stability in the pressure solution is the so-called Babufka-Brezzi stability condition, and the four-node elements based on mixed variational principles do not appear to satisfy this condition. In this study, a pressure continuity residual based on the pressure discontinuity at element edges is used to study the stabilization of pressure solutions in bilinear displacement-constant pressure four-node quadrilateral elements. It is shown that the pressure solutions, although stable, exhibit sensitivity to the stabilization parameters.

  • Mixed finite element formulations for incompressible materials show pressure oscillations or pressure modes in four-node quadrilateral elements. The criterion for the stability in the pressure solution is the so-called Babu$\check{s}$ka-Brezzi stability condition, and the four-node elements based on mixed variational principles do not appear to satisfy this condition. In this study, a pressure continuity residual based on the pressure discontinuity at element edges proposed by Hughes and Franca is used to study the stabilization of pressure solutions in bilinear displacement-constant pressure four-node quadrilateral elements. Also, a solid mechanics problem is presented by which the stability of mixed elements can be studied. It is shown that the pressure solutions, although stable, are shown to exhibit sensitivity to the stabilization parameters.

  • This study investigates the use of mixed $H_2/H_{$\infty}$ and $\mu$-synthesis to construct a robust controller for the benchmark problem. The model treated in the problem is a coupled three-inertial system that reflects the dynamics of mechanical vibrations. This kind of problem requires to be satisfied the robust performance (both in the time and frequency-domain specifications). We, first, adopt the mixed $H_2/H_{$\infty}$ theory to design a feedback controller K(s). Next, $\mu$-synthesis method is applied to the overall system to make use of structured parametric uncertainty. This process permits higher levels of controller authority and reduces the conservativeness of the controller. Finally, the feedforward controller is also used to improve the transient response of the output. We confirm that all design specifications except a complementary sensitivity condition can be achieved.

  • Since the late 1990s, mixed-use apartment, armed with high qualities and large scales with a high ratio of TFA(Total Floor Area) have been continuously provided accommodating exclusive community facilities along with high-tech securities, not to mention excellent skyline view. However, especially in mid-small cities, there have been only a few supplies. As a result, none of the mixed-use housing provided by high-end brands has ever been built in non-metropolitan area. But constructors couldn't plan the projects which aims to build the mixed-use apartment in local city, because they couldn't get the basic data or advanced research for feasibility analysis. Therefore, to suggest the useful price for mixed-use apartment supply project of local city, the PSM(Price Sensitivity Method) widely used for determining the price preferences as a market research tools has been applied. As analysis results, the estimated price of mixed-use apartment is 10.8% higher than general apartment, and mixed-use apartment has lower price sensitivity than general apartment. As price determinants, the age, education level and family size influence on UTP in significant level. It is expected that these research findings can be applied for establishing the solid marketing strategy of mixed-use apartment development project in local city.

  • We studied temperature sensitivity characteristics of soil respiration during periods of rising and falling temperatures within a common temperature range. We measured soil respiration continuously through two periods (a period of falling temperature, from August 7, 2003 to October 13, 2003; and a period of rising temperature from May 2, 2004 to July 2, 2004) using an open-top chamber technique. A clear exponential relationship was observed between soil temperature and soil respiration rate during both periods. However, the effects of soil water content were not significant, because the humid monsoon climate prevented soil drought, which would otherwise have limited soil respiration. We analyzed temperature sensitivity using the $Q_{10}$ value and $R_{ref}$ (reference respiration at the average temperature for the observation period) and found that these values tended to be higher during the period of rising temperature than during the period of falling temperature. In the absence of an effect on soil water content, several other factors could explain this phenomenon. Here, we discuss the factors that control temperature sensitivity of soil respiration during periods of rising and falling temperature, such as root respiration, root growth, root exudates, and litter supply. We also discuss how the contribution of these factors may vary due to different growth states or due to the effects of the previous season, despite a similar temperature range.

  • High-efficient HEV Engine cooling systems reflects variable coolant temperature because it can decrease the hydrodynamic frictional losses of lubricated engine parts in light duty conditions. In order to safely raise the operating temperature of passenger cars to a constant higher level, and thus optimize combustion and all accompanying factors, a new thermostat technology was developed : the electronically map-controlled thermostat. In this work, various crystalline plastics such as polyphthalamide (PPA) and polyphenylenesulfide (PPS) mixed with various glass fiber amounts were introduced into plastic fittings of automotive electronic controlled thermostat for the purpose of suppressing influx of coolant into the element and undesirable opening during hot soaking. Skirt was installed around element frame of automotive electronic controlled thermostat for improving thermal sensitivity in terms of response time, hysteresis and melting temperature. To validate the effectiveness and optimum shape of skirt, thermal sensitivity test and three-dimensional CFD simulation have been performed. As a consequence, important improvement in thermal sensitivity with less than 3℃ of maximum coolant temperature between opening and engine inlet was obtained.

  • In recent warfare, the performance improvement of air weapon systems enables an aircraft to strike multiple targets on a single sortie. Further, aircrafts attacking targets may carry out an operation as a strike package that is composed of bombers, escort aircrafts, SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses) aircrafts and etc. In this paper, we present an aircraft allocation model that allocates multiple targets to a single sortie in the form of a strike package. A mixed integer programming is developed and solved by using a commercially available software. The new model is better than existing ones because not only it allocates aircrafts to multiple targets but also it models the concept of the strike package. We perform a computational experiment to compare the result of the new model with that of existing ones, and perform sensitivity analysis by varying a couple of important parameters.

  • Semiconducting nanomaterials have attracted considerable interest in recent years due to their high sensitivity, selectivity, and fast response time. In addition, for portable applications, they have low power consumption, lightweight, simple in operation, a low maintenance cost. Furthermore, it is easy to manufacture microelectronic sensor structures with metallic oxide sensitive thin layers. The use of semiconducting metal oxides to develop highly sensitive chemiresistive sensing systems remains an important scientific challenge in the field of gas sensing. According to the sensing mechanisms of gas sensors, the overall sensor conductance is determined by surface reactions and the charge transfer processes between the adsorbed species and the sensing material. The primary goal of the present study is to explore the possibility of using semiconducting mixed metal oxide nanostructure as a potential sensor material for selective gases.

  • The generalized linear mixed model(GLMM) is widely used in fitting categorical responses of clustered data. In the numerical approximation of likelihood function the normality is assumed for the random effects distribution; subsequently, the commercial statistical packages also routinely fit GLMM under this normality assumption. We may also encounter departures from the distributional assumption on the response variable. It would be interesting to investigate the impact on the estimates of parameters under misspecification of distributions; however, there has been limited researche on these topics. We study the sensitivity or robustness of the maximum likelihood estimators(MLEs) of GLMM for counts data when the true underlying distribution is normal, gamma, exponential, and a mixture of two normal distributions. We also consider the effects on the MLEs when we fit Poisson-normal GLMM whereas the outcomes are generated from the negative binomial distribution with overdispersion. Through a small scale Monte Carlo study we check the empirical coverage probabilities of parameters and biases of MLEs of GLMM.
