  • Positions of tactical objects are represented as Time, Space and Position Information(TSPI) in modeling and simulations(M&S). The format and required information record for TSPI is investigated by referring the TSPI object model of the Test and Training Enabling Architecture(TENA), which has been developed by the United States Department of Defense. The most sophisticated tactical data link, Link-16 has a Precise Participant Location and Information (PPLI) message. We study the data format for exchanging TSPI data based on the PPLI message. To evaluate and track positions of tactical objects, we consider the Kalman filter for linear systems, and the extended Kalman filter and the unscented Kalman filter for nonlinear systems. Based on motion equations of a ballistic missile, the tracking performance for the trajectory of the ballistic missile is simulated by the unscented Kalman filter.

  • This paper applies a relative impact angle control guidance law to a communication-based multi-missile network system with uncertainties and disturbances. The multi-missile network system is represented as a transitive reduction directed acyclic graph. Furthermore, this paper introduces both centralized and decentralized guidance laws based on the graph's structure. The relationship between these guidance laws is analyzed by comparing them based on the communication structure and the presence of system noise. To analyze the effects of decentralized optimal cooperative guidance law, this paper assumes uncertainty in missile dynamics and predicted impact point information for the relative impact angle control mission. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted for various mission environments to analyze the impact of communication and its structure on the system.

  • Asymmetric force and vibration caused by separation flow at high angle of attack affect the stability of supersonic missile. As a preliminary study we verified the effect of turbulence model through general 3-D slender body for the supersonic flow at high angle of attack. ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ Wilcox model, ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ Wilcox-Durbin+ model, ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ shear-stress transport model, and Spalart-Allmaras one equation model are used. Grid sensitivity test was performed with three different grid system. results show that all models are in good agreement with the experimental data.

  • In this paper, air-defense simulation model, called "DADSim", will be introduced. DADSim(Distributed Air Defense Simulation Model) was developed by Modeling&Simulation Lab of K.N.D.U.(Korea National Defence Univ) Weapon Systems Department. This model is an analysis-purpose model in the engagement-level. DADSim can simulate not only the global air-defense or Korean Peninsula but also the local air-defense or a battle field. DADSim uses the DTED(digital terrain elevation data) LeveII it for the representation of peninsula terrain characteristics. The weapon systems cooperated in the model are low/medium-range missile systems such as HAWK, NIKE, SAM. DADSim was designed in the way of object-oriented development method, implemented by C++ language. The simulation view is an event-sequenced object-orientation. For the convenience of input, output analysis, GUI(Graphic User Interface) of menu, window, dialog box, etc. are provided to the user, For the execution of DADSim, Silicon Graphic IRIX 6.3 or high version is required. DADSim can be used for the effectiveness analysis ofdefence systems. Some illustrative examples will be shown in this paper.

  • For various target tracking applications, it is well known that the Kalman filter is the optimal estimator(in the minimum mean-square sense) to predict and estimate the state(position and/or velocity) of linear dynamical systems driven by Gaussian stochastic noise. In the case of nonlinear systems, Extended Kalman filter(EKF) and/or Unscented Kalman filter(UKF) are widely used, which can be viewed as approximations of the(linear) Kalman filter in the sense of the conditional expectation. However, to implement EKF and UKF, the exact dynamical model information and the statistical information of noise are still required. In this paper, we propose the recurrent neural-network based Kalman filter, where its Kalman gain is obtained via the proposed GRU-LSTM based neural-network framework that does not need the precise model information as well as the noise covariance information. By the proposed neural-network based Kalman filter, the state estimation performance is enhanced in terms of the tracking error, which is verified through various linear and nonlinear tracking problems with incomplete model and statistical covariance information.

  • A new interacting multiple model (IMM) method using intelligent input estimation (IIE) is proposed to track a maneuvering target. In the proposed method, the acceleration level for each sub-model is determined by IIE-the estimation of the unknown acceleration input by a fuzzy system using the relation between maneuvering filter residual and non-maneuvering one. The genetic algorithm (GA) is utilized to optimize a fuzzy system for a sub-model within a fixed range of acceleration input. Then, multiple models are composed of these fuzzy systems, which are optimized for different ranges of acceleration input. In computer simulation for an incoming ballistic missile, the tracking performance of the proposed method is compared with those of the input estimation (IE) technique and the adaptive interacting multiple model (AIMM) method.

  • Since the technology of anti-ship missiles has advanced rapidly, defending battleships from the threat of anti-ship missiles is a crucial factor for the survival of warships. In this paper, we analyze the performance of an anti-ship missile defense system whose name is Close-In-Weapon-System. We show the survival probability of a warship equipped with the Close-In-Weapon-System as the number of anti-ship missiles attacking the warship varies. Because of the complex and dynamic operational characteristics surrounding the Close-In-Weapon-System such as speed of missiles, different range of an individual weapon in the weapon system, and the continuous change of the kill probability of the missiles corresponding to the distance of missiles from ships, few work has been done for the performance of Close-In-Weapon-System. We present a model to incorporate all the dynamic characteristics of the system using absorbing Markov Chain. With our results, we expect commanders of warships equipped with Close-In-Weapon-System to be provided with more helpful information on how to deal with the anti-ship missiles.

  • This paper presents a homing guidance law of anti-ship missiles using flight path angle to achieve an impact time constraint as well as an impact angle constraint. the independent variable in the nonlinear engagement model is change d from the flight time to the heading angle of the missile. The proposed guidance law can home a missile to the target with zero miss distance as well as satisfying both of the impact angle and time constraints. The performance of the proposed guidance law is evaluated by the computer simulations.

  • In this study, pitching stability derivatives of the conical shell configuration is predicted using commercial CFD code. Unsteady flow analysis with forced harmonic motion of the model is performed using overset mesh. The test is conducted about Basic finner missile configuration. The static and dynamic stability derivatives are good agreement with available experimental data. As the same way, a conical shell is analyzed in Mach number 1.6 and various reduced frequency. The static and dynamic derivatives are obtained from the time-pitching moment coefficient histories in each of four cases of mean angle of attack. The variation of reduced frequency is not affected static and dynamic derivatives. Increasing the mean angle of attack, static derivatives are increased slowly. Comparison of the Cm curves at the steady and unsteady state results shows that the Cm curve including the damping effect is lower than otherwise case, approximately 9-18 %.

  • Driving dynamic characteristics of semi-trailer loaded with precise equipments are very important to protect them from vibration, impact or other disturbances. In this paper, in order to identify the driving dynamic characteristics of the large scale semi-trailer equipped with swivel axle and hydropneumatic suspension unit, Dynamics Modeling & Simulation(M&S) were performed using general Dynamics Analysis Program(RecurDyn V9R2). The semi-trailer was modeled as two types - one is Multi Rigid Body Dynamics(MRBD) model, and the other Rigid-Flexible Body Dynamics(RFlex) one. The natural vibration mode and frequencies of semi-trailer body, acceleration of dummy-weight, pitch, roll and yaw of dummy-weight, swivel axle and hydropneumatic suspension cylinder support structure, and acting force of hydropneumatic suspensions etc. were obtained from the M&S. Additionally frequency analysis were performed using the data of behavior obtained from above M&S. Generally the quantitative results of RFlex are larger than them of MRBD in view of magnitude of the comparable parametric values.
